yeah i have all that
The iron beams are good too for plains - that's what I used
i packed up every bit of metal from my meadows base and im in a longboat searching for a new home down south
ive got about 5000lbs in metal in the hold
we did exactly the same thing in our world ironically.
best way to do it imo
not like im going back north to craft anything, may as well take everything i can with me
How many stacks is that? something I've found is that if you're building a large stone base, the reinforcement cost in iron is wayy more than you'd expect
what is there to do after beating the ashlands boss? anything of note?
It sounds good for foundations certainly, but each reinforcement (either iron beam or iron wall) is about 1 ingot per metre
you can get away with skeletonising your supports as much as you can, to save cost, as iron still has very good stability for its size
yeah still debating how big i want to go for this
its just me so probably not ridiculously large
my only requirement is that this one has a raised dirt wall and moat, my meadows base was just a palisades wall inside the 5 stone ring
we got about 15m in height without iron supports for our base, before we had to start relying on wood for the next storeys
im just looking for a good spot to set down right now
very risky sailing with no food buffs but i have moder buff
That's always a very tough choice to make
very risky indeed
almost got mauled by some water monster when i got a bit too close to ashlands
that's very far south.
my moder was literally bordering the boiling sea
fill seven blackmetal chests with piquant pies, that's what I'd do probably
is there a black metal equivalent of iron supports?
nah sadly. Though the ashlands has a variety of metalic supports which uses the metal unique to the region, and the mistlands has a stone type which holds its durability SLIGHTLY better than stone
The ashlands metalic support PROBABLY is better than iron, though the wiki isn't certain I think
iron and stone it is then i guess
iron and stone is the way to go, I say
just gotta keep scouting...think i found the likely candidate but i need to get the perimeter of this area first
Good luck to you, I hope your new home isn't far now
thanks for the info
...holy FUCK, Bonemass feels so much mroe difficult now
I think I may actually end up getting defeated by him ๐จ
And I'm so far away from any portal that could get me home
Guys what are the
Mats I need to unlock the new portal
Cold...
Wet...
Unrested...
I don't think I can make it
|| gredwarf eye, grausten, molten core ||
Where do I get the second mat
Hoookay, Bonemass' at half health. Fortunately there have been no draugr butting in except for that one draugr elite from earlier
Mine rocks in ashlands ๐
Dang it I hate that place ๐
Press on, fellow viking!
Valhalla awaits those who can grit through even their flesh falling off their bones!
Thank you very much!
Bonemass is almost dead!
I just gotta avoid getting greedy and take stamina meads when I can
FINALLY!
BONEMASS DEAD
Glad to know I don't need the rested buff to take this thing on
Now to make it back to my ship and find some finewood to portal my way home
Oh wait, I forgot I already have the finewood.
Now to go to Haldor's forest and find some graydverger to kill for their eyes and some cores and then portal back home
Well done, your axe surely glints brilliantly in the rays of light from the dawn of your victory!
Slick with the slime of the foul beast, you have earned your rest for this night
Ahh, thank you very much!
Congrats! Bonemass can be tricky if you aren't lucky with ennemies spawn around the fight
also consider flattening all the terrain around the fight area
Oh I did
As much as I could anyway
I even took care of the nearby draugr and skeleton spawners beforehand
Bonemass is easy if you take a second to prepare. Hunt draugr elite for his trophy and buy ymir flesh which will enable you to craft huge hammer that can one hit all mobs that spawn with him. For the boss itself it's best if you make yourself a frost resistant mead and visit mountains, hit some drakes for their jello and don't forget some obsidian. with it get like 300 frost arrows and a secondary bow as your can brake. Here you go, bonemass dead easy ๐
or just hit it with a mace a few times
Oh I think I'll need the silver cutting table to craft the jello
Morgen gjall.
They drop it when they die this blue blob I can't remember the name
freeze gland
That's it thank You
what do enemies attack as far as structures? if i build a bridge will enemies break it?
they wont atack the bridge itself
but if the bridge is blocking the way for a troll, it will be atacked
i do believe i have found my next home
now to begin the long process of securing the perimeter
i really wanted to incorporate one of these giant stone pillars into the design
any drawbacks to doing that? can enemies destroy them?
Yes
You mean in Ashlands? The natural stone formations? Yeah
in plains, the giant pillars
Still a yes
Try building on Yagluth pillars - seems those are indestructible now
no idea where those are
Yagluth altar - same as finding altar to the elder, Bonemass, moder etc
But yeah finding that particular altar is very annoying
im just going with a regular stone pillar and ill make a ramparts around it with raised earth
They made those indestructable? Daym.. Makes the fight a whole less stressfull I guess
Man wtf is happening with the valheim servers
given tar can be teleported its not exactly important
do i need aerial defenses in a plains base?
well, im n the bronze age rn so i have time xd
ways to go yeah lol
eh, elder will die within the next hour i guess, iron age should take me 5 hours max, silver age perhaps 3
ah,, atgeir my beloved
stunlocking trolls from full to null feels so good
can xbox gamepass people use mods?
No.
I doubt they did, we fought him a few days ago, and at leas he was able to destroy them, he broke one completely. Maybe they are indestructible except for him? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Could well be
how does frostnier holdup in ashlands?
It's pretty good
Frost slows the mobs and the knockback is pretty useful to keep mobs away
I'd say it's one of the best weapons to use, with Mistwalker, at least early on
Is there any reason for the spikes on forts to have knockback?
All spikes have knockback afaik
I guess I never really paid spikes much mind because they always broke before, but watching the obnoxious pinball stuff in ashlands is a little sad.
Yeah especially because you can't really destroy them
Well, you can, but meh. I just don't get how any designer in any video game (not just Valheim) looks at knockback and says 'that's a great addition.'
It feels like a mechanic in video games that survives because of momentum, not because it's a good design feature.
theres been an update to Valheim?
knockback is a good design feature if implemented well
Which is vanishingly rare
Bloom is another one that's rarely done in a way that makes me want it on
thing is: knockback and stagger serve an important purpose
if you dont do them you end up with a floaty mess like skyrim
(even worse than skyrim even)
I'll have to take your word for it on Skyrim, I never actually played it. But I have no idea what the goal could have been with these fort spikes, the physics combined with their seemingly oversized hitboxes are jusst all over the place.
thats on valheim being jank
I forgot how great it feels to start over in Valheim
best part is finishing your endgame base tbh
so Im guessing bow supremacy as well because of frost arrows?
probably atgeir supremacy due to mob spam
in my first castle I raided I did not have a battering ram so me and my friend went to the top of the middle block of the castle and somehow fell in between the spikes into the chamber below
we then spent 20 minutes parkouring out of the tower using wack glitchy shenanigans and a stack of wood I just so happened to carry on me
anyone want to start fresh?
A lot of mobs are resistant to pierce afaik, but I'm not a bow user so I wouldn't know
thats the problem, ye
If you "cheese" by making a stone tower with the hoe, I'm sure bow would be a safe bet
nope
We did not try that, but that sounds like fun haha. We had enough to craft a battering ram and broke the inner tower with it
we were genuinely afraid we were softlocked lmao
ashlands doesnt really have a way to make an area unasailable
not even the endgame fortresses you can build are 100% secure
(please give us a blob trophy)
Fortresses are indestructible, but Valkyr's can still fly over it
player made one, not spawned
Player made is all destructible, indeed
I couldn't imagine not using a spawned one to make a "safe" zone
Our mistland base pissed me off too much, we had Gjall's spawn nearby almost every in game day, I had to rebuild the roof at least 20 times
I've seen a guy create a pretty safe base under a rock in the ashlands
True that
was there a new update for Valheim today/yesterday?
Other than Ashlands? Not sure
They were planning to release a patch to fix some issues iirc
some1 said its been updated so our server is down until Vanilla + is updated, but i cant find anything in changelogs or google
so im not sure whats going on
How is the game on base settings solo?
as in time to complete if your idk working on it fully
eh, depends on the player type
if you dont screw around building stuff (which is a waste since its excellent) its like 30 hours? 15 if you rush it
there is a lot of stuff you can skip but that also increases the difficulty drastically
and spawn rng can always screw you over
Im mostly looking for ways to get to the end without it being such an uphill battle in my own head
Either, mostly at this point i just wanna know
The minimum needed stuff to get through easily
tbh i played this game for 30 hours solo, first playthrough, it takes a while if ur just playing it raw and not looking stuff up. Then I joined a group and we did in 5 hours what I done in 30 solo lmao
i definitely recommend it, adds a whole different vibe especially if u play with a chill group with no pressure just having fun together
The hardest part is knowing what to do
Ahh so i dont have a group atm
eh
Meadows 30 mins
Forest 3 hours
Swamp 4 hours
Mountains 2 hours
Plains 4 hours
Mislands 4-5 hours
If you look all that up it's pretty easy
ur welcome to join ours if you want @merry epoch . We have started fresh 2 days ago and are about to do 3rd boss (swamp guy) for first time on server
the biggest issue are preps for mistlands and swamp since those two areas are hell
3 days*
Hmmm sure tbh i need to beat the elder myself first
I hate swamp and mistlands so much
They are the stop gates yeah but they unlock so much cool stuff
elder is easy. You just move between pillars to dodge his range attack and shoot flaming arrows at him while keeping distance
Aye ive beat him before but that world is long gone
@plush umbra oh? thats almost where i am progression wise
im about to smelt my iron
Yeah Swamp has arguably one of the most valuable resource, Iron
nothing arguable about it
ohh awesome ๐ I'm on my first playthrough and met these boys, they're awesome
I currently have my world on passive till hostile so yeah
we've cheesed silver with stagbreaker too so after swamp boss we prolly doing mountain boss as well and setting up a base in plains
noice
Yeah i want to know how to cheese my way though while it still being legit to a degree
atgeir ultra cheeses most fights cuz polearms are guga broken
but well, large hammers can be abused in many ways
after u get iron you get a pickaxe, get frost resitance meads and make urself a stagbreaker. U smack mountains flat areas until you get a "too hard" message under ground popping up. You found silver :P
Large hammer are pretty good for crowds
atgeir is great for the forest area cuz it stunlocks trolls to death and fulings
and yeah we dont really cheese much, we tryna do it all legit and fun
Yeah i want the legit cheese lol
Playing in a group is so much fun but we never lasted further than fighting bonemass
but yeah if u guys want invite to the server let me know. We got 7 ppl so far most are from USA minus me and another european dude ๐
which is a shame cuz bonemass is gatekeeping the fun
Throw me an invite and ill murder Elder and brt
awesome, i'll dm you it
@plush umbra id love to join as well
We beat bonemass and then go on and clear out all the mini boss had chickens going but suddenly everyone just stopped playing
i got u!
What progression are your server on rn?
right now silver age and about to do bonemass today later in the evening when 3+ people are on
We had to do like 10-15 Infested Mines because we were unlucky on seal fragments, it wasn't really fun either ngl ๐ฆ
Oh i see unfortunately that be a bit hard to join mid game
blakc cores trolling you is another "fun" thing
clear 5 mines, get 3 cores
tbh i skip mistland boss fight after i get enough black cores i am done with mistland
I was surviving in ashlands with my krom and spinesnip with wolf armour
In solo, but recently i upgraded to asksvin armour
I need to go there often for sap and soft tissue
I usually just keep everything to the minimal and try to save resources or grind them at once
so no mage stuff for you?
I m currently doing a slow play through, is fun and different, like it more than rushing to another biome as soon as I can do so (1 build at least one full base per biome, one of my self inflcted rules) and will also make a minimum of 3 different weapons from each biome)
Nope, i dont really like mage so...
there is 1 weapon in the ashlands that has changed my mind on that haha, and the bubble is useful
Bows feels to be a way more reliable form of ranged attack, and i like having more hp and stamina and not having to spam the bubble every once and while
Spinesnap is a very good bow in Ashlands
indeed
I think when you find a spot that has less mist it looks really cool though. But you have to always be listening for whatโs comingโฆlol. Dvergrs are cool too. I like watching a large group of them destroy a Gjall.
the entire biome gives you the finger loot wise
Loot is up to RNG in this game. I have had swamps with like 10 crypts in them and only gotten 5 surtling cores, others where it is the reverse (with 2 boss finder stones in a single crypt).
Trollstav enjoyer? ๐
@tranquil sigil Whats a trollstav?! SPOILER!
I wonder...
Can I join the club?
@opal prairie You were already a key member
Hooray!
Our first swamp this playtrough has 10+ crypts, haven't reached final count yet, 6 surtling spawners which I portal looped, so I can get so much coal and surtlings core in a short span of time.
It also has bonemass and we found turnip seeds at the edge of it before we even set foot in the swamp.
This playtrough we won't need to find more swamp, this first one gave us all we need.
One swamp is enough feelsgoodman
Is there a list of all progression items that are absolutely needed, as in get this then this this and then this?
Also how bad is skills drain
Not really but with some wiki looking you can figure a whole lot of it out.
Roger thanks
Only in mods for now.
Upon death, the player will lose 5% of their total levels in each skill.
If you don't fiddle with the world mods.
Can you go under a level?
anyone got a really underrated tip for Black Forest?
You can go back to starting level but not under that.
could someone reccomend a mod that adds trapdoors?
Trolls can be cheap labour.
The copper you see is only like 1/3 th of the copper available in total the rest is underground.
You can get the abyssal razor the moment you have a pickaxe and that is a very fine weapon to go into the black forest with.
#mods-discussion that question would be better suited there.
Are the devs looking into the micro stutter sound that happens at bases? I do modded and non modded and tested on both and it still happens, idk if its caused by the fires but its really noticeable
at this rate i wont be able to resist playing valheim again, either solo on a new world or solo on my previously multiplayer world
anyone else who loves Carts? ๐
To throw of a mountain, yeah.
the more i play this game the more i use them for all sorts of things
but throwing them of a mountain is how i started, then roads from dungeon to dungeon in the swamp, then for short distances from woodline to portal when getting wood and now also as double cargo hold on longboat ๐
The longboat / karve cargo hold thing is also something I use.
i don't trust the karve anymore after it glitched through it D:
Hasn't happened to me yet. I had it happen with pets though.
glad that hasn't happened to me yet - has transported quite a few loxes on longboat so far
ever had a longboat capsize on you?
Only on the karve, boars and wolves just fell through after going over a wave. No problems with the longboat so far.
Once almost when I failed to notice a protruding rock near the coast I was sailing past.
ahh so it's just the karve being abit glitchy
In some edge cases yeah, mostly works fine but sometimes things clip through the bottom.
i had the longboat capsize on me once fighting a serpent in stormy weather - the boat was completely stationary when it suddenty turned 180 on me, had to get on top of the bottom of the ship and get my last shots in on the serpent before the boat broke apart from some sort of ticking damage
anyone have a world where they have beaten father? want to go into multiplayer ( i have mastered ashlands)
Can someone tell me what the point of passive mobs versus non passive mobs would be besides greater difficulty
For background im autistic and have issues with my fight or flight response getting heavily over confused so i really panic
THEY DONT ATTACK YOU IF YOU dont attack them like pigmen in minecraft
.>
everyone is friendly
Thanks! Someone tried to use wooden stairs as base defense? Mobs have been seem ignoring them
No problem, that would be quite cheap base defense, need to test that out.
We are comparing boss difficulty to biome difficulty. Boss is easy compared to biome.
Drakkar mountain sled anyone?
will a boat spawned on a tar pit float? asking for a friend..
huh I never thought of that, its completely useless but quite cool if it works ๐
Even in nightmare mode Bosses seem to be easier than biome
I fought Fader in normal diff and wasnt that easy! Me and my friend died like 5 times
@merry sun I think you are just talented when fighting bosses
I find bosses to be in a good spot, difficulty wise ๐
I mean, they are easier than entering the biome but harder than finishing the biome
@merry sun Sounds like a good balance
i think they are expected to be like that Xd
Entering a biome should be hard
My friend and i fought him once, i didn't die and the only thing i used was the staff of the wild and a few potions, as well as bonemass power. Ashland mage armor, 2 mage foods, one stamina food. Yet, when a horde of ashland mobs show up, i have a hard time surviving.
Ngl Bosses untill late game only having 3-4 attacks is kinda borinh
new biome and 1st mob is a 2star
@merry sun But that allows a buildup in boss difficulty
I fought him 3 times
First time: 1 mage 1 melee
Second: 2 mages
Third: 2 melee
Ngl we only died more than 1 time in the First fight, probably bc we dont knew the attacks
You are the word though.
What do you mean the word? I havent heard about the bird
Bird is the word
everybody knows
Everybody's heard about the bird
A well a everybody's heard about the bird!
Cue insane flappy dancing in circles
Yeah, and when you fight bonemass, moder, and yagluth, using the armor of the biome, even maxxed, there is still risk of dieing. I never had a risk of dieing. I think some adjustments can be made to make the boss feel well, boss like.
Maxed armor from a biome means nothing
Well the word needs a server to play on lol
Nightmare mode turned the game in a true survival experience and im feeling like a new player again. Lets see How Ashlands will look at Nightmare! (Im far even from swamp)
You can be safe in maxed armor from a biome
If you go to biome two tiers lower
Let me hop in on that
A well a ooma mow mow Papa ooma mow mow! #1024264966712340510
Enunciating that song is near impossible
im from South america, probably wont be a good playtrough for you
The artist didn't have human vocal chords
I enjoy suffering it's ok
Duh it was a bird.
I'm just gonna play New Vegas and wait for my post to hit
Haven't found Mountain yet that is smooth enough on 1 side to try that
Who needs a smooth mountain? ๐คฃ
If you fail a block/parry, do you take full damage without any damage mitigation from any armor source?
trying to understand how i got 1 shot to a troll on very hard with over 140 health and 50 armor
I was exploring the mistlands ffs lmao
if you block too early you simply block what you would with the shields blocking, if you block too late yould take damage that your armor didnt block
and a troll 1 shots me of all things
im pretty sure a normal troll on very hard hits at max 140 so i just dont know how it 1 shot me
was ita nromal troll? also was ita troll with a log or no?
i had plains food and full root armor + black metal atgier
it was a normal troll with no log, i looked up the wiki of it and it showed it hitting 70 max, so 140 on very hard i think
does anything add permanent eitr?
Wdym?
seems to be only food
There is no permanent way to have eitr without food
Man I hate the mist lands af thank god I can stay in ashlands I am so happy lol but if there was a way to remove the mist I would do it to explore more and make a base
Just better food with longer durations
Mistlands is the best
my game crash when i try to make a server, anyone know how to fix this?
Not exactly
You forget sap counts too
what
You can make magic food with sap
Wish we had more use of the ceramic plates instead of just using it for the boat. How about roof tiles that are immune to the raining fire or somwthing
wth i thought the stonehenge area would reveal the plains boss
this game is giving me burnout ive been through like 5 different plains biome and still dont have a location
Several eiter foods don't require jelly at all, particularly the ashlands meals. Can easily get over 200 eiter
Exactly and even in mistlands thereโs one that uses sap to make
Magecap is needed in the other ones
Took my grpup days of looking. I think we might of found the boss spawn from exploring before finding the stone
Just look for yagaluths hands
goblin towers can have them has well
viillages too allegedly
half the time i find it just by noticing the 5 stone pilars or whatever of the boss arena
On only one playthrough have I found the vegvisr first.
it's not, jelly piles in infested mines respawn
You can find large areas that are mist free, which are imo the best looking areas in game to build, but its rng. I agree the mist sucks, at the very least there should be some item you can build after killing queen, maybe the dwarf lights, to get rid of more of it for building, still looks awful asthetics wise with the 10m torches
are there any building materials immune to the damage of the obliterator?
black marble should be
it is
tbh
would you prefer devs to put out deep north first or updates to other stuff like quality of life first?
for example slots for armor and accessories since the primary problem in the game is lack of space in inventory
We're not getting any of those so it's a moot point.
Primary problem in the game I think is very subjective
i guess, but this one is complained about often
Not anywhere near as often as vertical combat.
well as far as we know we will not be getting anything to expand inventory, not extra slots nor backpacks or anything
Personally one of the things I'd be most excited for would be a thorough balance patch
objectively worst weapon, right behind fists, at least with fists you have strong attack that pushes enemies
Spears aren't terrible, but I find they're often overshadowed by bows
theyre fine unless fighting skeletons n stuff
On bowless runs spears are very clutch, and they're the fastest levelling melee weapon too which gives them pretty decent damage
& bonemass
i'd be hyped if they updated earlier biomes, ashlands have more content than meadows to mountain singlehandedly
By definition QOL is a nice to have, not something that actually needs fixing.
Mods fix it, if you want modded
spears are complete garbage as long atgeirs exist in the game
Not remotely, it's just new.
hm, I feel like Ashlands doesn't have more content than black forest + Swamp. And some of the content in Ashlands is really a miss for me
spears alos have bad strong attack, imo it should be a dash with it
you know, quickly closing the distance, make throwing optional
that strong attack is the only good thing about them
their primariy attack is the issue
I'd like optimisation for netcode
not to mention how most enemies are resistant to pierce
blunt has the least mobs that are resistant to it
I have a perfect connection to a dedicated server, but as soon as I go near another player, the connection goes to crap
that doesnt stop the atgeirs
the issue is the hitbox of the spear
the instant you stand on an incline you dont have a weapon
spears got a ricochet shot from bows and crossbows being so fucking powerful
and atgeirs being spears but better
tbh spears should have directional attack if you hold right click at the cost of very slightly slowing the attack
"optimising the netcode" would do nothing for that.
Pros of spear:
- Fast attack speed (Really good on higher difficulty / light armor builds)
- Levels fast (fast attack speed and more xp per-hit than other melee weapons)
- Ranged utility, which transitions easily into melee utility by no equip delay when picking spear up
- Small attack area (damage isn't split between walls and such in a tight dungeon)
- High first-hit damage for it's attack speed, helping with staggering
Cons:
- Ranged attack way overshadowed by bow
- Small attack area makes it difficult to attack some enemies (can't hit body piles either), and hard to deal with groups and inclines
- No 3 hit combo
- Pierce Damage
What's causing it then
how do enemies scale? do mobs have static HP, or will it vary depending on how many people are online/ with me in the zone?
for instance if I fight Moder alone vs. with 2 others does that change anything
The chunk owner having a poor connection.
More players buffs mobs some. Something like +5% damage and +30% effective health per player, capping at 5 players (so 10 players doesn't buff more than 5 players does)
It's not quite, but effectively, yeah.
Creatures gain +30% more effective health per each additional player within 100 meters. E.g. 3 players = +60% effective health.
This is updated whenever the creature takes damage.
Creatures gain +4% more damage per each additional player within 100 meters. E.g. 3 players = +8% damage.
This is updated whenever the creature deals damage.
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Creatures
whats the diff between a .db file and a .fwl file
Were we always able to name map tags? I dont remember being able to do that. But i love it
Pretty much everything. You need both for a world.
Yep, since EA.
Valheim uses peer to peer to host a "chunk" that players are existing in. First person in the area becomes the "host" for anyone else
lame
As for the Net code, it can absolutely be improved but I doubt it's on the list of priorities atm
so the first person in an area supports the connection of the next person to walk in?
Yeah they become the host in which most of the information filters through (the net code still does some work, but most of it is peer to peer)
shrug
Theres only two programmers on the team, I'm not sure they have the bandwidth to fix things like that until the 1.0, if at all
time then
That's the name of the game round here
anyone know how I could fix my Valheim?
every time I launch Valheim it loads and then pops up a small window then closes
Are you using mods?
nope
Have you used mods before?
idk how to mod valheim
never have
That's usually a mod issue, I don't know what else could cause it
I haven't used mods either
k
Uninstall then reinstall
Of course the danger of taking time is that the longer they take, the more hyper saturated the "open world survival craft" genre becomes, but that's a risk that they're gonna have to take with a small team
just started doing that now
idk why it decided to do this now, it was running just fine yesterday night
Yeah, had the same issue but once I did that it work just fine. Itโs probably because you are missing certain files or have corrupted files
still crashed
ima start closing applications now to see if one might be in the way
Possibly
is there any way for me to find what is crashing it?
causer other than microsoft edge and discord there is nothing else open
Are you playing single player? The only crash Iโve had so far was when I tried playing 3 player for the first time
or might there be a way to keep the error window open for longer
I played both single and multiplayer both just fine yesterday, but now it crashes on launch
I could share my screen to you in a vc if that could help
Again, not broken.
I think the distributed host design is genius
While it's not completely smooth and could use some tweaking, like detecting and excluding players with terrible bandwidth, it's really smart
i am not able to make any progress in the ashlands... all I ever do is go there... kill all the mob around, repair my defenses and kill more mobs that respawned and back to repair... i can not go do anything because anytime i go there i get flooded with mobs ๐ฆ maybe I need to try a different strategy ... did not manage as of yet to even reach a flametal deposit.. i can see one... but going there proves to be impossible for me...sooooo many enemies ๐ฆ
Have you done any spawnproofing?
i placed as much campfires around as i could but they get destroyed all the time by the mobs
Raise ground
BR player?
all i can do is snatch a few bits and bobs here and there... place more campfires kill some more mobs and go home because of nightfalls
oh... yeah i could raise the ground 2 times to make them campfires unreachable by the mobs that would be an idea...did not occur to me...thanks for the advice
I'm looking for a Brazilian player to play
do charred mobs randomly spawn or only at spawners? I swear theres this lava field and theyre just coming out of the ground in the center
at least i managed not to get killed a second time in the ashlands ๐ one time paying the fee is enough in my book ๐
Is there any way to restore boulders?
Friend brought back 8 loxes to the home and they got out of their pen
fucked everything up
trampled everything like an Attack on Titan Rumbling
You can load a backup, no?
I guess
I'm not the host tho and I've done like 30 hrs of additional building since then
just deciding now that it would be nice to restore if there was a way
Oh, well it's likely possible to spawn them with the console
ah and to clarify I didn't mean they destroyed the home, but deforested and destroyed boulders in a large barren radius of the home now
I unfortunately managed to die a 2nd time. First one was the big birb, an unfortunate sequence of events.
The 2nd time I got betrayed by the smurfs. I was using the root spell and they must have somehow aggroed them... didn't know they were angry with me and I got 1 shot killed
It's just a bit frustrating to die to BS like this when you've survived many times worse situations multiple times before
Hey guys, I am looking for a group to join for a 2 hours to play on my or others server.
I have killed Eithyr, 20hs into game.
I'm 26, looking to chill and have fun for a while.
free instance clearance xD
Hello, anyone want to trade a 2 star asksvin egg? I'll trade any in game item I have in return
Just reminding that trading with strangers isn't much different from spawning items in, since that could be exactly what happened to the item you're getting in trade
I guess... but how does one use the dev console?
Which is why transferrable inventories should be a possible constraint
you press F5 and type in "devcommands"
have to enable the console first
I think the possiblilty of "cheating" items into any world hurts my mood about this game
as a new player
if you dont have it enabled you have to go to launch options on steam (if you are using steam version) and put in "-console"
I like everything else about the game otherwise, but what is stopping me from saving time and just spawning wood in on another world
since it's a renewable resource, instead of spending my irl time to chop and replant trees on repeat until I have enough?
the resource isn't rare or finite, just time consuming
make a greydwarf farm
or same for having a farm
you can literally go do other stuff, come back and collect a fortune in mats xD
why actually spend time replanting and reharvesting
when I can make a pretty farm for the aesthetic purpose
but just spawn in the carrots and onions
as much as I don't want it either, I have only seen a single 2 star asksvin in all the countless nights I have been hunting it. For sanity sake, I just want to see it in action. I could just make a test server for it just to see
what was the reasoning for development saying no to character transfer disabled wrolds?
i just avoided using commands until i was forced to
^
I did mention this yesterday and someone said it was already addressed as not being considered
I don't even know how to use devcommands XD
can you no longer mine yagluth's hands? :(
They break
they don't show any numbers to me
Hm, I'm not sure then. Yagluth broke those fingers with his attacks in my exp
yeah, he was able to break them every time i fought him... i will go check if he still can
happend to my yag fight post ashlands update too... yag did not break his altar with meteors and i could not mine it either
seems those finally do give protection when hiding behind ๐
F then
they were really good for stone
mine one ot the other pilars? ๐ I prefer the boss arena not looking dissheveled in the landscape ๐
The ruined boss arena reflects tha fate of the boss
A good portion of my stone stash atm is from Yagluth breaking the base of a finger
you'll have much more stone once you reach mistland... that biome is a literal stone mine
becomes very easy to fill a black metal chest with stone
I don't understand. Why would wards be a problem?
and solution would be spacing out buildings properly...
Yeah, the ward range isn't that great. Everyone making mini houses?
Yes lol... do you guys live in tiny shacks?
I don't believe Valheim's building mechanics were designed with high density housing in mind
I'm building stuff for myself and even then I still space it out decently
Especially when you should only have a max of 10 people. Nothing high density about 10 people.
theres a mod for wards
just play by your own rules and quit yapping
and that would still end up being built tighter than my base...
You can also just not use wards, or share one ward on the space that it occupies
They apparently don't trust each other.
Wards can still be broken as far as I know. I haven't ran a server for over a year.
sir that is not a small comunity XD
Yeah, I've used wards before. They are for keeping honest people honest. Anyone set on messing things up are going to do it regardless.
just use better wards
Btw, to the earlier discussion about Yag stone fingers not breaking, they do break, just tried with bronze, iron and BM picks and all do dmg to them
Yeah, Yag usually breaks at least one when I fight him. He broke all of them the first time I fought him.
yeah, that was my experience too, but somebody said that they are no longer brakable
Oh, yeah, I haven't fought him in over a year.
i am just testing it and everything is still the same, attacks break them and pickaxes too
oh wait, they now don t take dmg? i just mined them...
I've noticed they have redone the ancient fallen trees. They are far easier for draugr to walk up on now.
?
i believe that was enemy rework, not the trees ๐
Maybe. I don't recall my being able to easily walk up on them either. But I usually jump up on them anyways. So maybe I am remembering my habits better than how the trees actually looked. I just know they used to not be able to get up on many of the models.
hmm, it seems that the stones have basically indestructible layer now, there is still rock under it but even if you break it chunks of the finger are not missing, interesting
edit: one of the fingers is actually still destructible, its the smallest/broken one
now they are basically able to go wherever you can go ๐ (without jumping ofc)
Yeah, they can even navigate past branches.
what are the best mistlands tier weapons
Gun
real
i used arbalest and the longsword last playthrough
but that was pre ashlands, so not sure if they changed anything with it, maybe balance or something new idk
i love mistwalker wholeheartedly
My friend should be jumping on this weekend YIPPEEEEEE NO MORE SOLO EVERYTHING
Hows everyones playthrus going tho
Fine until last night. Hopefully its magically fixed itself today, though.
bosses feel tankier than usual, maybe they added some scaling, but it's as good as always
Thats good what happened?
I have a love hate relationship with building
It started telling my wife that I am running an old version when she tries to join me on the Steam server.
Strange
It said it even after I did a re install.
I love building but then i get over the top and make something that doesnt work or i just cannot create what i plan ingame
Ive got a tiny spot of black forest near my base and i just walked out and saw a troll hitting a fat squat
If it does it again today I might buy a public server for us to try playing on.
Why do i struggle more with parrying on big windup attacks.
Different timing.
Ik ik but it gives me so much time to prepare and i just miss it every single time
Timing is hard. I still miss it sometimes after over a 1200 hours in the game.
I prefer not to parry or dodge roll anyways. So I don't have hours of practice.
I usually jump instead of parry or roll
Not with the overhead attacks though, of course
hello, sorry for bother. How i could discuss or report about valheim ashland's bug?
I tend to roll more often, it's invulnerability instead of possibly not having enough armor/shield to parry a big guy ๐
There's #valheim-help that might help you figure out if it's really a bug, and #steam-bugs-discussion if you're sure it's a bug
oh thankyou..
Depends what im fighting. For trolls now ik i can just take the damage if i miss so its more just practice but for stronger enemies i usually will roll
Do you usually try parrying too late or too early?
Have you used an atgeir? They make troll battling almost trivial ๐
I usually just run out of the way, I jump when the terrain calls for it.
I havent
They make battling almost trivial*
Too early for big windup attacks. im pretty good for the more average speed attacks
There are plenty of things that resist piercing, plus you don't get one at the mountain tier.
No weapon will work well against everything though
Gonna be honest mountain was one of the easier things for me
do charred mobs spawn naturally in ashlands or only from spawners?
Mountain is very easy if you're not trying to get fenris armor, since all the important materials except silver run towards you and die
Yeah, I'm just saying that lots of people thing the atgeir is OP, but it's just pretty situational. And really, really good at the situations it is effective for ๐
Ooze bombs make the Frost Caves much easier, just FYI. Cultists and Ulvs are weak to poison.
Im gonna test it cos im making some gear for my friend to join me and thats what he chose for a weapon
From comments I have seen here, they do not need spawners.
Even though there are spawners inside the Citadels.
there are spawners EVERYWHERE
Secondary attack is AoE, and will stagger almost anything, and then follow it up with regular attacks.
Good to know. I will let him know that for sure
can and will stunlock everything weak to pierce from full to null
trolls in particular get absolutely bodied
Trolls are easy once ur further anyway tho
Im more worried about enemies from the area i get whatever i use to make my new weapons
Troll caves are where the atgeir comes in clutch, because you can't put distance between yourself and them.
also works extremely well on other mobs (like any form of fuling lul)
doesnt work one starred ones, unfortunately
Extremely good to know.
You can mine ||flametal pillars|| with ||the catapults explosive ammo||. It is highly effective and doesn't ||cause it to sink||.
edit: I tried to reproduce. ||It does activate the sinking.|| Must have gotten lucky on the first test.
||Mining is definitely what explosive ammo is best for||
Why not? You sometimes might need to spin twice, or upgrade the atgeir, but you can stagger anything.
Bring some friends and all spin at the same time to become a blender
That's where you just atgeir special into dodge into atgeir special, past that you are in staggerlock territory and just need to poke
Whenever you get low on stamina just pause the staggerlock with atgeir special, wait for the enemy to get out of stagger (allowing stamina to rebuild) and then atgeir special again (repeat until you are at a safe level of stamina)
yeah but at that point i get impatient and just skill-check the troll

when deep north
We've still got a beta out for some Ashlands fixes and updates... chill ๐
Why did they break the stagbreaker, it's a useless weapon now.
How did they break the stag breaker?
whyd they ban me from the suggestions channel all i suggested was that they should add skibidi toilet ๐
They should ban you for your name

Why when I click ur name are you under suspicion of terrorist activity bruh @timid crater
i sure do wonder
what did you even do to get that
Love the link they can't use.
pretty sure its just a joke/not real but whered you even see that on his profile
It's a custom status
okay thatโs pretty good it looks genuine
Being blocked from a channel doesn't mean just not being able to post in said channel but still see it?
atleast on mobile
Nope.
That's muted.
Well they did say "banned" which can be interpreted in more than one way...
I thought it meant not being able to post
TIL that dvergr stake walls are stronger than stone walls
Or, hear me out. This is the lowest-quality bait that even my autism can register.
Too bad yggdrassil wood is somewhat more tedious than stone
i just witnessed a huge amount of lightning in the sky, pink, that normal?
only in Mistlands
yea the thunderstorms in the mistlands are purple/pink
best weather in the worst biome to view it in xD
true lmao
i was born with this name its not my fault
My most commonly misplaced item is the cultivator
I can never remember where I left it even though I have a designated chest for it that I forget to put it in
Does anyone know of a faster way to gather root vegetables
Thereโs atgeir for barley and flax, does the great hammer make them all jump out of the ground?
Hammer works for barley and flax too, but there's no speedy harvest for anything else.
I use a wall item stand and put in right near my cultivated area. That's where the Cultivator goes.
looks like I have a new suggestion idea
Lots of times it's been suggested
Other than Mods, no.
omg today is not the day. i even adjusted the diffculty and i still run into at least 2 1-star enemies and 57 small enemies
My cultivator never makes it to my hotbar. I right-click to equip it from my inventory, and drop it in a chest by my field when I'm done.
I am yet to craft wall stands and armor stands but I think itโs definitely a good idea to start doing for the ease of access
thats why i always carry it in my hotbar ๐
Chest works too. Just store it near the farm. That's how you don't lose it.
Yeah, mine is literally in a chest adjoining the field. I actually make one for every field so I don't end up losing it like that ๐ One for my Plains farm, and one for the Mistlands
what is this nonsense, everybody knows slot 8 is for the cultivator
Well yeah, but Iโm not going to keep it in slot 8 other than when itโs in use
I know I'm going to get some hate, but slots 6-8 are for one's three foods.
the things you use once every 12-15 minutes..??
More like 15-30 min
I feel like silver veins give me as much ore as entire copper nodes
7* XD
Copper is objectively the worst metal in the game in terms of effort vs. reward.
Fair... my context was in mining. But, I'd agree with that.
Silver is by far my favourite metal just for the entire process
1 - Primary Melee
2 - Primary ranged
3 - Hammer
4 - Shield/flex slot
5 - Hoe
6 - pickaxe
789 - flex
Where axe
I love kicking a cart down a cliff
What am I a lumberjack
Where is your mead?
Abso-fucking-lutely
It's why I hate upgrading bronze stuff. Thank goodness copper is less of a pain in the ass to obtain in the Mistlands
In my tummy :3
I donโt bother upgrading bronze stuff tbh, I usually skip most bronze related items other than a weapon and the axe
Pickaxe upgrade can wait till swamp
Pickaxe upgrading is mandatory for Ashland's
antler-> iron -> black metal pickaxe
flint-> bronze -> black metal axe
Iโve reached the crop saturation where it takes me the entire day to plant my crops and Iโm still not finished
Maybe you dont need as many as you're planting?
I have over 400 carrot seeds I may as well plant them all now
You can never have enough
I want to reach a point where my entire ranchs farm area is covered in vegetables
Can items I bury despawn or are items protected from despawning when buried?
Fur cap brown -> simple cap purple -> extravagant cap green
Items within player bases don't despawn
Thatโs the base clothing for reducing stamina right
god damn it this is the third time now that the swamp has raided my farming base
This man got the extravagant cap green but asking for 3 wood
1-primary
2-shield
3-bow
4-pickaxe
5-hoe
6-hammer
7-cultivator
8-axe
๐
1- Primary
2- shield
3- staff of protection
4-range weapon or staff of embers
5- staff of frost or different weapon type
6- axe or dead raiser
7-pickaxe
8-hammer
everything else only gets temporary slots or right click from inventory
when full mage, axe goes over pickaxe and swap on need
I haven't gotten the rest of ashlands items yet, we'll see what we get up to after we eventually successfully find fortress
Wow sounds like very similar setups.
I got:
1-4 weapons
5-8 tools
thats what R is for ๐
1 hammer 2 shield 3 sword 4 axe 5 bow 6 pickaxe 7 hoe 8 context spot (cultivator, potions etc)
I like using R when exploring
Is that really worth though? Because R to unequip and then reequip will equip both the weapon AND shield in half the time
Idk other than that I just like having hammer be 1
Oh god fucking dammit. I just finish building my silver shed at the base of my mountains, so I go up to my cleared out silver quarry to get more silver ore to bring to that shed. Next thing I know, four fucking wolves come out behind a rock and I can't run away (I should have gone home and rested). Next thing I know, I die, and my skills lower on my third death this run. Here I thought I could keep up this deathless streak for as long as I could even if I was unable to avoid it altogether the first two times.
Carrying a cultivator, hoe, axe, pickaxe at all times is definitely redundant by mistlands, where inventory space is very limited
Also none of you have meads in the hotbar?
Thatโs honestly the worst part of dying, I couldnโt care less about the run back itโs the loss of levels that bothers me
Iโm yet to break level 50 in any skill
We lowered the skill loss to 1% and are much more satisfied with the game
Yeahhhh I think making death more forgiving is the least cheaty thing you can do
Iโd love infinite building resources rather than infinite building of everything
It takes SO LONG to level things up unless you macro or have infinite playtime to shoot a farm in rested
The world modifiers are there, use them if something bothers you ๐คท
Exactly!
The skill loss hurts
At least my running and my spear skills are still above 70. For now
I don't get the stigma around it, you play the game to have fun
Was it nighttime too? Wolves in numbers are always scary
I think it was nighttime
It was certainly dark, but I don't remember if I got that alert
Even scarier when you don't realize they were all hiding behind a big rock until they're all 1 foot away from you
You don't get the cold alert when you have frost resistance (because you don't get cold)
You can hear the night music if you have music enabled
Yeah, I don't remember if I got the night music. I don't think I got the audio cue that signaled nighttime before I died to the wolves
I really gotta get this silver ore out of the mountains so I can change out of this root armor
I always press tab to use my meads lol
...oh godDAMMIT, and NOW I'm being hunted
At the very least the gods are feeling merciful and I still have the no skill drain buff
To use it by accident when I meant to equip something else?
Nah
I always keep my meads off my toolbar. I accidentally ate foods I didn't mean to eat, and I don't wanna make that same mistake with meads
I only put meads on my action bar for boss fights
Doesn't happen very often, or often enough to bother me
Agreed, it happened constantly to me
You can also set the hotbar keys to something else than numbers
eh itโs just less risky to leave my meads in my inventory
Changing the hotkeys? How?
REVENGE
REVENGE!
I GOT MY REVENGE
I play with a controller so I need them in my hotbar because I can't walk with my inventory open
Can you not? Might've been a mod
Well you can change them, just idk if for the hotbar
Afaik no, not normally
Iโve used probably 2-3x more meads accidentally than on purpose
Iโd just uninstall valheim at that point
But then again I probably wouldnโt be misclicking potions in my hot bar so thatโs fine
Yes you would
I open my inventory way too much during combat
Like youโll catch me reorganizing my inventory while Iโm getting swarmed
Just keep walking and you can be in your inventory so much
Well, when the ticks arrive, you gotta find a place to put them on your to-do list... ๐
Eh you can ignore them for awhile
That was a good joke and deserved better.
The important question is, can I get the third black forge component pre-Ashlands? I remember how absolutely terrifying TWO star seekers and ticks were even with my armor upgraded thanks to my inability to upgrade them past level 2 (or level 3, since there was that coolant that got added later on)
Infested Mines
Yes, what about them?
"can I get the third black forge component pre-Ashlands" Yes. Black cores are only found pre-Ashlands in the infested mines.
does the boat create a hole in the water textures where its hull rests?
ive noticed that when boats dip below the waterline there is no water textures inside, and it will sometimes show through to the seafloor
i like to chop wood
Ah, excellent, thank you
Fourth and fifth black forge level/upgrades are only found in ashlands
OOoh, that's really cool
I hope the Deep North will have a sixth level when that comes out
I made a mistake
I thought valheim would give me something really good to use
A staff that summons friendly trolls, can't be bad, right?
Trollstav isn't really good to use?
Try it and find out
Just don't try it anywhere near anything of yours that you would like to keep intact
valid at participating locations only
I've used it already
How is it supposed to be helpful
The troll also attacks enemies
I forgot, what's better against Yagluth, frostner or silver sword?
It attacks everything
Silver sword
Good thing I took over an ashlands charred fortress
and it can't break it
Wy did i think valeheim would give me a useful tool
I think the idea is to summon it inside an enemy fortress, not your own
You can make the troll fight enemies for you, and when the trolls spawn they're great for breaking things
I will stick to the skeletons
Awesome, thank you very much
Big meat shield and decent damage. Can take agro of a whole slew of mobs off of you
Trollstav is the best new staff for sure
Shame it also wants to kill you
Enemies will almost immediately start attacking the troll even if you are nearby.
It is useful
imo it doesn't change much if they're friendly or hostile. As mage you're typically playing the ranged game, and trolls will agro to whatevers closest to them so I hardly ever have a troll agro on me
As always, it's a matter on knowing how to use something, almost everything in the game is.
Like people saying ballistas are useless (which is very wrong)
Using something for 0.000001 seconds and then immediately misjudging it despite the game heavily encouraging you to take your time isn't good judgement
Pickaxes are useless because they have 2 block armor
Same for Arbalests, most worthless weapon because I can't block properly with them smh
So... SOB. A 2 star charred warlock is currently camping my body. I don't have enough mats to make another suit of armor. There's some Askvins nearby but I can deal with them.
Any suggestions? Is there anything those warlocks are particularly vulnerable to? \
might need something with more punch
It's the next best thing I have and if they're vulnerable to spirit that should be good enough
Summons a big flaming psychopath that wants to kill everything, including me
Only bad thing about it is that it deals around the same DMG as skeletts
Thanks valheim
I know, It's hilarious
It would be extremely op if it was completely friendly
It dies quick anyway
Maybe because i'm in hardmode, not sure
But charred warriors kill it fairly fast
Spawn in two giant skeletons or use a catapult
Probably. It would at least have higher dmg as well
I don't know what giant skeletons you speak of
Staff new one
Just used the jump on top of the mountain golem pickaxe Strat
Literal troll weapon from devs
Yeah funny thing, my ability to continue gathering resources in the Ashlands is kinda contingent on retrieving my body... it's the Wild Stallyns/EVH problem.
I think itโs my new favourite way to kill them
And I do not have a most triumphant catapult
I managed to jump on a gjall
did a lot of damage with a swing, and it had an animation to shake me off
My issue with the troll not being friendly is you cannot use it anywhere near a base
It will pound everything
I mean you can if you kill it once it kills what it needs to tho right
In other words, balance is an issue?
Or does it prioritise structures ?
Weird take
Can you summon another troll for them to fight each other then kill the weakened victor?
No, they're allies to each other
That's how Trolls roll!
is the boss area in the plains covered by a magical barrier?
oh nvm i think its a merchant
Uh oh
Iโve found the howling cavern by sheer luck while exploring the mountain pre bonemass
Could I take it on with iron tier gear?
Iโm gonna make a portal outside and risk it
its probably Hildir, she often spawns very close to plains ๐
Holy shit, with all the silver ore veins I keep finding close to each other, I think it's hightime I stop hauling silver ore to my swamp base and instead bring the copper and bronze ingots I need to establish a silver smithery outpost up in the mountains
A mountain castle would be dope af
Okay I got jumped by a one star ulf and almost died
That was a stupid idea
Oh absolutely!
I was surprised by how effective a wooden house was in the mountains. First time ever, I tried burying my mountain base because I thought golems and drakes would attack it upon seeing the house. That's when I learned that as long as they don't see me, they don't care about any wooden walls or roofs they see
Two dilapidated cabins and two abandoned stone fortresses later, a bit of treasure, and still no onion seeds
why did they let me have every location of each boss as soon as i got into each biome but now ive been through like 7 plains and havent seen a thing that gives the location to me reeeeee
L I found onion seeds almost immediately
Gonna have a whole chest full by the time I acquire mountain tier food
yagluth vegvisirs are pretty damn rare
I usually find yagluth without finding a vegvisir, Iโve only found his vegvisir once
Mistlands vegvisir is also very rare
I imagine the problem is with how the biomes generate
Plains and mistlands are in a ring shape compared to Black Forest swamp and mountain
do the boss locations in a world seed change when a new expansion comes out?
All locations might
Unless they directly change the way they generate I donโt believe so
like i googled best world seed and saw a picture of the map and the bosses arent in the locations on that map lol
but i already built a nice base (in my opinion lol) here so its too late to bail now!
Because it's an old seed
Hoookay, I think I'll need to use non-root armor for the ulves, because I think their fire attacks will bring me down in seconds
if it wasnt for root chest piece i probably woulda quit by now xD
Yes! Finally! Onion seeds!
Now I can make mountain foods!
A shame it's impossible to sequence break Plains-tier stuff
Iโm kinder upset that there is not different versions of the axe until late game Ashlandโs or mid game mountains like I really wanted a big axes late game or 2 small axes early game you now
Counter point: It makes certain gear more unique and valuable because of the limited options.
It would be very boring if we had a dual-wield dagger frequently for example
I mean ya but itโs annoying that you get a big axe and canโt use it past mountains or plains plus the sword gets a big Version for 2 biomes when the axe only gets one
I'd like another battleaxe without any element, just huge slash damage
Fair point on battle axe.
And it's especially awful for fist weapons.
I know and completely agree on the weapon gaps decision but those two feel very wrong
Had a great opportunity for flaming flametal fists
Or perma-lightning fist which have a unique effect. Like always summon a chain lightning every second hit but it's much, much weaker than chain lightning from other weapons
Damn that'd be cool too. Thunder boot special attack would be so satisfying
I'm thinking for a good effect on a perma-blood battle axe that doesn't involve life steal but can't think of any
Just make it have crazy high stats but each swing damages you.
Attack speed increases with health lost?
0.2% extra attack speed per point of hp lost
And it could increase knockback on the secondary attack because that one is fast enough already
i play with only one other player and we saw like 2 valkyries and 5 morgens spawning in the ruins areas within like 5 mins, is that normal?
also they materialize right infront of us
Could be, a weapon that focuses on being at the frontline but still gives you the means to survive at said frontline
Same for the Thunderer Fistsโข but these are more for quick playstyles
||Just did Fader with my friends! https://imgur.com/a/1l5vB3c||
according to reddit the mini bosses are meant to respawn. Ive never had any of them respawn in the same dungeon (full vanilla) are they supposed to?
They respawn with unique raids
but not in the dungeon themselves?
Nah not that I've seen
reddit just full of yappers then
heyyy is there a mod or something that youre able to change the drop rate % of certain items, for example just wood and rock?
ty
to many chickens and not whole lot of eggs
You don't need a mod for that, you have drop rate modifier right in the game ๐
but is it for individual items tho?
No, Its for all the drops in that world
okay yeah so I dont want that though i just want for woods and stone
You can enable it when you are going to gather those and after you are done you can disable them again, but you can of course ask in #mods-discussion if there is a mod for individual items ๐
Huh
I dont remember an unupgraded fang spear being able to stagger fulings in one hit
Could it be the high spear level?
some of the new stuff increases pierce damage too
skill counts as well
anyone need another player? i love the game but most of the time iv played alone and would like to play it with a group of more than 2 people.
what's the best way to get surtling cores mid game?
So is there any way to flip building pieces? I know we can rotate, but half-walls on the top of gate doors always looks so wrong.
Find a swamp with multiple fire geysers nearby one another (farm up surtlings by using the water to kill them), or just quickly run through burial chambers at that stage of the game.
The 'beam' across the back of half walls doesn't line up with the full walls at all.
when expected 1.0?
A geyser if you have easy access to one. Mine the ground down a little bit around the geyser (not too deep to destroy spawn points and not at the geyser, you don't want to destroy it.)
You want a thin layer of water around the geyser. Surtlings will die when they spawn and you can regularly stop by to pick up cores and coal.
We just had a big update. The next big one (which probably won't even be 1.0) is going to be a ways away.
I know, but I don't know when the end of it is expected, that people can play the game and not have to start from 0 all the time due to constant changes
Why do you have to restart with the updates?
my friend and I are waiting for all the chapters to be finished, so that we can start it again
now the new biome is finished, I don't know if another biome will be made, if not then we can start playing.
Just avoid the far northern snow biomes, you'll be fine.
There's no reason to go north right now anyways.
Swamp surtling water farm
that remained as the last biome sign, thanks for that, then we can start playing slowly, do you have any advice on how to save my world, I lost one of the 700 days already
What happened to it?
and sorry for the trouble, do you have any mods to recommend, we like to build but it looks empty, is there any mod for ncpove so when I start the local server we can see everyone who is on the server
_
he sent me back for 19 days hahaha
#mods-discussion or #mods-issues might be able to help. I don't use them, unfortunately they brick Steam Link lol.
raiding these fortresses solo is actually ridiculous
I'm a fellow solo Viking. Iโve found magic and a bow to be super helpful in the Ashlands.
unreal
You can use the catapult to destroy the spawners inside
forts are one of best parts of ashlands imo
And after getting the bloodstone you can use trollstav to launch a troll inside and then assault
They are, all things considered.
They're underwhelming due to repetitiveness alone but still, they can still be very fun to attack
u hav to destroy the turrets first too l
The moment you breach a wall and an a whole army comes forth makes it feel like an all-out war
if you play it solo just cheese it in any way u can
pop bonemass, lingering stamina, head up to that door with a battering ram and get ready for some craziness
And the hunt for players begins.
I'm stuck on my SP game because of this. 2 star Charred Warlock is camping my body. I might have to retreat to the Mistlands, built another set of gear, and try again.
it made it easier for me when all the charred just started walking out of the fort and into the lava where i could snipe them from a rock
but definitely like when ur in ashlands just carry a stonecutter and workbench everywhere with u
make a plan and run in naked with full stamina and dip out. I had the same problem and this is what I did
thats exactly what speedrunners be doing and it works but its definitely not easy
Or BRS might help. Body recovery squad. https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1033392094817046630
Dude. This might be the way and the light. I had not considered this.
It's on my SP game so BRS isn't an option, good idea though
If I go that route, the family Meitbual has a long line of viking warriors that can step in.
Yeah the initial siege was actually easy enough. Frickin huge crowd of skeleton dudes but the silver sword makes quick work of them.
I rammed down the inner sanctum door and the warlock caught me by surprise.
I find that a lot, where they all gather at the door while you're breaking it down, so for me they usually flood out
Alright, time to see if a silver shield can parry a fuling berserker. At least my Haldor portal is close enough anyway
Okay, it can
It very much can
I was camped by a 2 star morgen
You got this ๐
I've spent many, many hours trying to recover gear in this game lol
Fenris set bonus movement speed with an Askvin cape works wonders when retrieving tombstones. Take what you can and run back to base, rinse and repeat.
Throw Eikthyr buff on top and you're good to go.
whats better, silver sword or mistwalker? i use frostner and magic lol
Opps, I spawned a Boss Stone in game, how do you remove it?
Mistwalker due to frost alone.
Silver sword deals more dmg, but frost effect alone outperforms the higher dmg
i have mistwalker but not fully upgraded
lvl 2 i think
It's worth maxing it out
JFC
fallen valkyrie spawns right above mytamed askvin and kills them
thank god it only takes 30 minutes to tame more
I should've known that purple charred spawner meant trouble.
Boy, that really gave me a scare.
And I still haven't figured out how to get to those Flametal spires. ๐ฆ
Just spent like an hour doing defensive works, using terrain to my advantage, placing walls and fortifications...
Just for the AI in this game being too dumb to even try to properly assault my base.
I really have no idea how can people feel the need to make moats and earth walls against an AI so basic...
Literally just building normally and trying to make proper fortifications is enough apparently
Yeah, Iโve never felt the need to use earthy walls, Iโve always been fine with wood and stone walls.
For some reason there are always a tons of silver ore drop on the ground after fighting moder anyone understand why is that?
Never experienced that
Although I would assume she could prob destroy some exposed silver
I see
Third egg found
Underplatform portal prepared
Now I can take on moderfucker and then finally unlock the artisan table for blackmetal tier swag
motoring
Motoring?
anyone wanna help me with some theorycrafting?
im playing on a dedicated with a few friends we are holding off on killing bosses til everyone is present at the same time.
currently we have killed the first boss and i was wondering everything thats possible before killing another boss
ive managed to get iron by catching giants herring and making a artificial pond at my base as catch and release still gives iron
This was against the greydwarf event, which might have been the "issue".
So I hope later raids can provide a bigger challenge, draugr/fuling rangeds might be more problematic at the very least in comparison to melee mobs.
I want to feel like I'm under siege ffs
the fortifications are more for your own enjoyment than anything else
thats cause modor attacks destroy terrain and reveals silver veins hes essentially a flying pickaxe
So I heard that you can go run a stack 50 wood build from the hammer, to coal using the staff of embers, does it work with the torch?
I see
sorry i mispoke a little its not exactly destroying the terrain but its destroying the silver beneach it, and it cant be underground so it pops up on the surface
Wooo, I forgot how easy Moder is
I think today was the easiest I have ever had it obtaining my first silver of a game. 2 nodes next to each other, steep, easy way down to take it all in one trip with a cart, didn't have to make a path out to the water for the cart, and just boat it home from there. Plus it was a quick trip, and even got 3 serpents on the way home.
okay Modering xD
i normally find a decently big mountain build a castle and pick the steepest side and place a longboat, once the boat is full i release it from the ramp and sail it down the mountainside
its quite fun like a rollercoaster but without rails and many backflips
you also wont die as long as the boat doesnt break
the way of the yeet
I doubt there is that much silver on this mtn. I was shocked it was big enough to have 2 caves. I've found 5 silver nodes so far.
Still wish it was more "functional".
So it doesn't just look aesthetically pleasing but also make you feel like you have an unassailable castle
Plus got a Moder location that isn't all that far away from home.
its more about protecting your crops than yourself
bench that shit to within an inch of its life xD
Also, there's been a weird issue regarding drops from destroyed resource nodes being misplaced after dropping.
Could be related to that. Silver veins are usually deep underground so even big mobs would struggle to hit them with their attacks
nothing can attack if it can't spawn
I've done that fight ... easil 10 times, maybe more, and have never seen that.
You're just gettin lucky
the longer the fight goes on the more common it is
her breath attacks likely are enough to penetrate ground and catch silver
i'm not sure of the level of pick damage they do
they can mine silver easily
log trolls can break silver, but golems can't
havent you seen what she does to the exposed boulders
The moder attack has like 2000 pick axe dmg last time I check
200
Ah yes 200
...okay, what? How?
Do i have to be in range of my lox farm in the plains for them to reproduce? or can i go out and about and do other things
yes
Mooey/Winter explained it all to me, basically log trolls do more pick damage
Not sure how to read the wiki table, but the middle set has pick at 1,000
You can go out
they will only birth a lox calf when they are loaded
gotcha okay making sure theyre fed then going back to farming other stuff xD
In fact I think they won't breed if you are around, every time I stare at them waiting my asksvin to lay eggs they be like give us some privacy
no you have to be around
they will progress towards being an adult when you arent around
No you don't..? I been breeding wolfs, lox and all kind, and they always breed when I am out
