Yes
It's more of just a reference of how long/fast you take to progress through the game, can divide that by 6 for a general idea of mistlands progression time
Oh hell yes
the total day count does tell a lot about are you rushing around or taking your time
how would you progress through bosses?
Tames can attack bosses
Pretty much ^
ah got it
And it's not impossible to tame wolves very early in the game.
Their taming isn't locked behind anything
Actually, not even lox are locked behind anything
But it is certainly difficult in both cases
the biomes aren't anywhere close to taking equal time though. I basically skipped most of plains in my current playthrough and just went to Mistlands in mountain gear once i got the necessities.
I also thought about making it so only I need to be the pacifist my friends can play as they wish, which I think would make it easier for me
Bro how pedantic can you be
even, even more, asksvin aren't either lol
But at this point is just loving suffering
A lot lol. Sorry about that, i'll stop.
Tbh if you managed to tame asksvin without cheats or mods before even killing half of the bosses you deserve a personal role
np man lol
how are they even tamed?
Any plant from ashlands
ashlands plants
And all of them are pickables. Fiddleheads alone are pretty much cloudberries but better
taming them sounds painful.
If you have any taste for building you'll have more vineberries than you'll ever need.
because they look very nice.
They lay eggs so once tamed you can bring them anywhere
Which is the most important aspect
You bring even a few of them to early game and you will destroy everything up until plains
I wonder if you can hatch an egg inside queen's citadel...
You can place a camp fire inside dungeons after all
im definitely going to be taming some tonight
is taming animals worth it
i have a chicken farm in the citadel, so yes
How do you manage for them to not stupidly walk into the fire? That would be the only problem
sitting logs as fencing
Oh that’s annoying
Oh, didn't know those didn't need work station
That also just confirms that literally anything that doesn't need work station can be built inside dungeons then
yeah, pretty much. Not that it's a lot but you can do quite a bit with campfires, sitting logs and wisp torches if you don't care much about aesthetics.
Hello! I'm in search of someone with the means to be able to sail in the ashlands area, I was shuffling some things from an old world over to a new world I have, and curiosity got the better of me and I went through a portal I had placed in an ashlands area before the update and well, everything pretty much broke instantly and I couldn't return through the portal. I lost some precious gear that I don't have the means to recreate yet and would appreciate any help and I would compensate you for your time, cash app, venmo, paypal or whatever. Thank you 🤘
Will the top of stakewall hurt mobs if they fall on it?
who makes their bases from scratch and who integrates existing structures/rocks/terrain?
Our previous world used an abandoned camp, but the current one was all built from scratch so both really.
shouldnt the boiling water cook our players if we get into it?
It hurts, yes.
oh good!
i usually do a meadows base in the ring of tall stones near the ocean, then i try to find an abandoned tower in the black forest on the coast
in the swams i just try to find a small ring of stones around a runestone and convert that into a camp
i dont usually do major permanent habitations in either the swamps or the black forest, just something defensible with a portal and some basic storage/repair/amenaties to serve as a place to fast travel and to load a boat with resources
ive never actually played past swamps in any of my playthroughs so im not sure if its worth making my next largest base in the mountains/plains/mistlands etc
mountain bases are cool, just takes a bit to make it safe
You don't really need anything until Plains when you'll need at least something to plant the new crops.
yeah i was thinking my next major base build would be plains
Our big bases have been from scratch. WHen i make improvised resting spots I sometimes use ruines
in the swamps it was annoying to cart back raw ore so my outpost there was just palisade walls with spikes around a bonfire and a dock
and a bunch of smelters
honestly doesnt take much to make a location defensible
Tbh what's your often occuring annoyance in valheim you'd personally like to change?
Boat
The inexistence of more fist weapons
I'd want fog weather to be a toggle in world modifiers, it's by far the most annoying weather to get every single time, I don't want "can't see shit today" weather when I need to explore because I lack a special item, this weather fucking sucks if you get it during a snowstorm on mountain biome or in plains where you need to know your surroundings for deathsquitos
Mistlands and fog also goes badly together
Sure it adds to the immersion but holy shit it's by far single most annoying weather to get because you can't do virtually nothing about it
What you're basically saying is that you want this game to have only sunny weather and night.
And that's it.
Perhaps they could buff dvergr circlet by making your view distance during fog far better giving incentive to actually use it
No, I just don't want "can't see shit today cuz fuck you" weather
The reason it feels bad is you can't do anything about it
Guess you've never been out in a very thick fog with limited view.
And with limited I mean up to 10 meters max.
I've been in mistlands I know what ur saying
But fog is still bad especially if you get it in mistlands too
Single worst weather event
i think i've killed more mobs in the ashlands just trying to find and mine a single vein of flametal than i did in my entirety of the mountains biome progression
I'm afraid you don't.
You're playing a survival game.
You think the explores of bygone ages or the real Vikings complained and hid behind their mothers skirts the moment it was raining or there was fog out at the sea?
If you don't like it happening in a game, go play something else that suits you better.
Or accept it as something you can't change.
Or use a freaking mod to remove it if you don't like it.
But stop complaining about it, as the devs ain't going to change the current system ever.
anyone got an idea when maypole will be available? I'm guessing about a month.
I think that thing will be up around June 24th.
doesn't it show up around midsummer? for the celebration
Bro I was saying what is the annoying thing you'd change in this game
And gave my opinion, I have right to complain, this is my discussion
Which is basically the entire weather system this game has.
Midsummer season starts in game June 1st.
rn? the combat slog of the ashlands. i could do with about half the mob spawns lol. or at least halving the aggro range
what is the charred skull for?
What does No Skill Drain mean?
Means that if you die again whilst it's active you won't lose any more skills.
you lose 5% of your existing skill levels in all skills, and all your progression toward your next level.
yeah but its more efficient to refine it on site and ship than to ship the raw ore
how so?
the stack size is the same
usually takes more ore to make a single bar
can you mine the fortress walls?
huh? it's 1:1
building any base structure in the swamps is such a bad idea that even the runestones tell you
Since when?
It needs one ore and two coal to turn any ore into an ingot (bar).
better to run around furnaces at base where it isn't raining and enemies aren't a danger
Only exception is Bronze, which will need two copper and one tin ingot for one bronze ingot.
And you don't smelt it, you use the forge for that.
do headshots do more damage?
Heyooo is Ember staff op ?
I've not really been in norway long term but I spent two weeks there and there was never fog as thick as there is in valheim, I'm pretty sure that the only time that fog as thick as there is in valheim occurred was in england during the industrial revolution and that ended up killing a bunch of people
not usually. Trolls have extra weakness in the head.
ah ok, i was shooting trolls
I wouldn't mind fog in valheim so much (note not talking about the mists in mistlands, those are some kind magic stuff) if it actually had different thicknesses than "Can't see 10m to the front of your longship" or "Perfectly clear"
we have it
Fog can be annoying, for sure.
I think fog does have varying thickness
It occasionally clears up a bit but from what I've seen the base thickness is the same
Either way, it also wouldn't be as annoying if it was less damn common, when ashlands came out did a run to the ashlands with my mates, 20 minutes from our main base to the ashlands and we had about 3 minutes clear of fog, the rest of the time, couldn't see anything
The fog in game usually happens around the plains coast.
just like those storms usually happen around the Meadows and the BF.
Is it worth getting Mage stuff ?
Well depends really, is mage stuff really strong? In my opinion yes.
Is it cooler thematically than hitting people really hard? In my opinion no.
Just trying to get Eitr and know where to spend it
I think it does, although it may take some time to get the skills up as high as your other skills and thus being a real significance.
But some weapons got a nice AoE damage, making it very useful.
from my understanding, mages deal more damage but take more damage
so you have to deal with your targets before you get dealt with
Staff of embers is the best misthare hunting weapon in the game in my opinion
So there's that
never used the staff, but the arbalest also does the trick
Okey thx a lot
And btw is there a mod that gives more fps in game ? Like I run them game on old laptop get like 20 to 30 fps
I have tried lowest and stretched res still that XD
Just trying to figure out like in Minecraft there’s optifine or what you call it maybe thought there’s one for valheim
You may consider asking that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
stamina, especially in early game. Imo Stamina is good to have in combat, but tools use too much stamina. Realism isn't always fun.
Chopping down your first trees and copper veins and having to wait ages for stamina to recharge is just not a satisfying game experience which I think might throw off some new players.
Same for farming.
True, tbh hildir should be easier to find through that
did you lower render scale? lowering that was the absolutel largest impact on GPU usage that I ever had, followed by SSAO
Or make a craftable sets designed for woodcutting or farming
How do u lower it
I have a gtx 960m so I think nothing happened when I did it
Drop it down to 50 and see if that helps
I went from 100% GPU usage to about 60% by dropping it from Native to 95%
But thx for the advice
#screenshots message
Like this, ignore the resolution it always says 1280*720 when I'm not running fullscreen for some reason
jump skill should increase height before you take fall damage
You should pop that in the suggestions channel so it can get ignored like everything else that goes in there
lol
also, there should be a sailing skill and possibly a building/crafting skill
not sure about those last two, but there should definitely be a sailing skill
Thanks
looking for any spanish speakers to maje fresh server
i did it put me on a cd when i havent posted
More skills to lose on death for people to complain about. I'm sure everyone would love that
Skills system is broken, bout time for a rework
If you mean stats, only tweaking values should be enough
If you mean ways to get more exp, that must be harder to accomplish
I'd take skills system remaining the same forever if irongate just promised to do a UI pass and add some basic filtering and searching, or at least organise the crafting tables in some logical way
True but in that case why not just run it back and forth to your swamp base?
I really REALLY hate that my ashlands tier food is spread across 4 pages in the stupid cauldron
My biggest gripe with the skills system is that the game gets easier the more mechanically skilled you are. If you don't die you don't lose skills and you're skills just keep ramping up and up, while lower mechanically skilled players die more and thus have lower skill. That's my issue with it.
Doesn't make sense to make the game easier for players that are skilled.
Yea this is annoying it should be sorted by cauldron level
That would make sense
So you're rewarded for not dying too much? Idk how that's a problem...
????? What skill curve is bad????
I want whatever edible they ate
Skill curve keeps the game from being a fucking cookie clicker simulator
My biggest gripe with the skills system is that because the skills are based on "one click = 1 XP" leveling from level 0-1 with top tier gear is slower than leveling from 0-1 with the worst tier gear
Idk how to properly phrase it, the game is already easy for players that are mechanically skilled, and they're just rewarded even more for being skilled, and it removes the challenge. Often times on my very hard playthroughs I still don't die and as I go on through progression the game gets easier.
So if I hit an enemy with my flametal mace and one shot them I get one XP, if I hit an enemy with my club 5 times and kill them I get 5xp
Have you considered the game isnt supposed to be hard?
Brother the games description is "brutal survival game"
Doesnt mean it is
I'm aware and that's why i've stepped away from the game for a bit. I rolled through Ashlands blind on very hard
I still don't understand...
"you're just being rewarded for being skilled"... so you want the game to punish you for knowing how to play? You want to lose skill levels passively without involving dying to make it more difficult?
I really don't know how "You know how to play so you don't die too much, that means you're rewarded with high level skills" is a bad thing or some sort of issue
Nah the thing is for me that as I go on the game gets easier, when it should be getting progressively harder.
That's my issue, my mechanical skill doesn't really change, i've gotten to a point where i really never get hit, yet the game gets easier
And brutal to you an experienced gamer isnt the same to a 50 year old
Brutal for who? And its difficult because of damage scale not because of mechanics
Ye difficulty is subjective I understand
I guess i should be pointing out the flaws in the combat difficulty sliders more than the skill system.
I still reckon there should be some form of skill fortification, perhaps a use for trophies?
Sacrifice X trophies of Y type to prevent your skill falling below Z due to death
i.e. 2 boar trophies, can't have selected skill fall below 5 (Have to reach that skill floor before you can make the sacrifice)
cant place the vine seeds, it says it needs cultivated soil
Yes, use the cultivator to cultivate the soil at the bottom of a wall, then place the seed near (but not precisely on) the wall
will the serpent appear in the day time?
they keep dying saying not enough room to grow
Are you placing them right next to the wall or right next to each other?
how close am I supposed to place it?
About 1m ish
If there are rocks under the surface that can sometimes cause issues with planting.
I believe that nodes for respawning items like sticks, stones, mushrooms, etc can also cause issues
#screenshots message
like this is fine
does it eventually cling to it after time?
yep
you can also place another wall behind the wall that was too close and then delete your original wall
I believe the answer is no. ||I have heard it has changed to spawn only at night and during storms||
Depends on if they mean sea serpents or ||bonemaw serpents||
I've found, funny enough, more luck finding serpants when Im carrying lots of metal ores lol
Confirmation bias.
I think what you mean is desire filter
Sea serpents can spawn only during storms and at night. Storm spawned serpents won't despawn but night spawned ones will.
Most of the time spent coding valheim is actually spent on detecting what the player wants and then causing that not to happen
I said what I meant.
how the heck am i supposed to harpoon that mofo all the way back to land lol, doesnt that require like infinite stamina
You only need to harpoon a serpent back to land if you want the scales
Definitely feels that way. The more risky the higher chance. No food items active, hauling a full boat of metal without weapons active, 🐍
can you harpoon fish?
I don't believe so
Again, not a thing.
Unfortunately not. They have a hitbox that only reacts to the fishing rod and bait from what I have seen.
No, can't harpoon hit or spear them. Can only pick them up if they strand themselves on the beach (or you can get a fishing rod!)
Or that^
how do you harpoon it and not run out of stamina
You harpoon it and then adjust speed to keep it close, sometimes it'll reaggro on your ship after a brief time of trying to run back
Can you upgrade wood with stone or do you have to rebuild it?
What biome are you up to? Because the least annoying results for getting the serpent scales and serpent trophies is damaging it until it's definitely one hit and then jumping on it and hitting it with a crossbow bolt at the same time as I land on it (mistlands strat)
You could also just float around until you find one relatively close to shore, the crappy thing is that you need to have a capturing pond on shore ready for them though because if you pull the serpents onto shore they just wiggle straight back into the ocean
Can also have it chase you close to shore, then harpoon it just to get it out of the water
Tbh I've never tried harpooning a serpent to shore, but plenty of times I've just gotten one to aggro me and brought it to shore and kill it there, no harpoon involved.
I've never bothered with the harpoon. Just make sure you let the serpent get a little nibble on your boat every now and then so it doesn't de-aggro.
The sea serpent can have a little bite of the boat as a treat
is the best way to kill bonemaws the same as regular serpents, harpoon them onto land?
Bonemaws don't have any sinking drops
So you can kill them however is most convenient
There you go
Better mental approach
lmao, just saw the new boss trophy/power stone... man they just kinda jammed it in there instead of re-spacing everything
It's spaced fine on new worlds
And you can use the upgrade world mod to fix the positioning on existing world
How do you pronounce Drakkar? I’ve been saying draw-ker, but i’ve heard others say dray-ker.
I have had an Askvin in a pit for a while. I can't get it to eat. It stays in the corner trying to escape. I tried removing the shield generator thinking maybe that was it, and I tried removing the campfire close to it, and no change. Any tips?
Drac-car
As its written pretty much.
Drak-kar
I thought they made building better in Hearth and Home? It feels about the same to me. Roof still a pita
It's fine for squre. But anything circular it's hard to get the pieces to fit
Pressing Q or E changes the snapping options
Its Dra-CAR
Dracula-Automobile
Based
Car as in 🚗?
Have they said anything about improving gfx?
Yes
In English it would be dra-CAR
In french its a bit different
Drakkar is the french word for a longship
I pronounce it as B-a-b (big a** boat)
Are you acoustic
I don't think that is the word you meant. If it is, then yes I make sound waves.
It's like a firey rock. Hard and dangerous.
The mists are complete, to my understanding. Ashlands might need some tuning, but that's my opinion.
Ashlands is a solid 6/10
You're out of touch with the younger humor
Yes i know you're not actually autistic
It loads "cleaner" if you have a fresh world but a old world shouldn't be a issue if you haven't tried to explore the ashlands prior to the full release.
Is the ashlands as boring as the mistlands
I found the mistlands dull
The fog actually takes away from the biome for me i get its supposed to be scary ish but it just makes it so i can't appreciate what the shit im looking at
And the enemies are...ok?
Hoping the ashlands are better
Depends on what you find fun or not. Ashlands have higher (feeling) spawn rates and larger agro AOE for the enemies. There is plenty to look at with the destroyed buildings and lava pools.
Whats the closest biome to it
Not literally but in the way it feels im guessing swamp
For general feel, the swamp might be right.
I'd guess so logically
The swamp was fun i know everyone kinda dick rides the black forest but im a mountain kinda guy
Meadows and plains for me.
Plains era gotta be the best
Plains is my very very close second
Not enough going on in the meadows it feels like baby plains i wish it was more mob Dense
Skeletons should have ABSOLUTELY have been a meadows enemy greylings in the meadows feels weird its just the dark forest later in the game but less dark
Its not really standoffish enough for me
Why no desert biome?
Might have to do with loosely reflecting the 9 worlds as each biome. To my understanding of Norse mythos, there is no desert like world.
Yea i get it but after a certain point you gotta be original
Still, would be nice for variety.
No exactly but i think the ashlands KINDA wouldn't be different enough
So i get why but i was sand
Actually no thats like saying the deep north won't be different enough from the mountains
Thats a terrible argument
Actually heres a thought
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muspelheim
The "fire lands" of myth. I think the ashlands were greatly influenced by this.
A biome thats only underground
Again i understand the norse mythology thing i also am a mythology Fan but hypothetically
A desert would be rad but I'm thinking the underground as a massive thing under each biome only accessible after beating the deep north or something like that
If speaking hypothetically, then anything could have happened based on the games lore of Odin tossing all his advisories on the 10th world and severing the connection to the world tree...so underground and desert biomes would be possible.
But im thinking of making ghosts and wraths have variety and making all skeleton variants commons there
As well as new undead mobs
Something besides dragr 2.0. Not sure what that would look like, but sounds interesting.
Body snatchers also I'm thinking you could idk fight the bosses but undead and stronger
Maybe I'm too off the loo tho
No but now that you say that
That is starting to sound like another game entirely...
Closest would be something like possession from a god.
I've gone nowhere near the south
Could you explain the possible reference?
Wait is Ashlands north or south..
South
South
Yeah thought so
The north is the future biome, creatively named "The deep north"
Glad they didn't use that same naming pattern for the ashlands...or we would all be sailing while playing the banjo, on the way to the "deep south" 😋
Shallow South
Deep North
Shallow South
Big East
Small West
I recall one of the devs saying something in the past about changing the name of The Deep North.
That would be nice
Probably in large part so people don't call it the DN update
But I'm looking forward to it because theoretically once the deep north update comes out frostner will no longer be a top tier melee weapon
Is Valhalla in the tree?
It hasn't been since Mistlands
It's still currently one of the best melee weapons, it went down a notch from top tier to pretty good in mistlands but with spirit now being super effective and the huge knockback on the secondary attack meaning you can protect yourself from attacks from enemies it's straight back up there
Technically in terms of DPS against charred enemy types the silver sword is the current best weapon in the game
Valhalla is Norse "heaven". Valheim definitely isn't. Did you mean valheim?
i freaking hate that essential items surrounded by instadeath hazard has a bug where you are perma stuck in the falling animation and will slide off. you cannot have such punishing mechanics unless the mechanic is locked down and near bugless
This isn't taking into account the lightning weapons of mistlands 25% chance to proc bonus lightning damage, with that a lightning weapon would potentially come close or be slightly above
It does 160 damage, yeah lmao
The issue with silver sword though is it's complete lack of any CC ability which frostner and mistwalker have due to applied frost damage
Which means it's big damage but low survivability, whereas mistwalker is decent survivability and great damage, and the frostner is great survivability and decent damage
No, I meant Valhalla
Frostner edges out Mistwalker in survivability because of the knockback?
Yep, if you time it right you can just yeet an enemy with the secondary attack and they can never hit you
And it's a lot more consistent than the mistwalker due to that
Sucks there's no combos you can do with the swords, it's just a standard left right slam
Ah, then yes, I believe Valhalla is one of the 9 worlds and is attached to the world tree, though based on game lore, we will never see it.
basically as is with everything
And again this is a spot where ashlands weapons lose out because they're theoretically the highest damage, with the possible exception of the silver sword, but you have no additional survivability except I guess with the ashlands mace but the only CC for that is on the secondary attack, you can't just slow enemies with the standard attack like you can with frostner
Couldn't one argue that increased damage of ~32 allows you to kill more enemy thereby also giving you survivability that can rival Frostner?
Is that for flametal weapons or mistwalker?
man, kinda blows we cant use lingering meads and regular restoration meads at the same time.
What has everyone else been running? Lingering Health or Major Healing Mead
and
Lingering Stam, or Medium Stam Mead?
Mistwalker
ok
i find them useful in a pinch
I mean for a Boss fight I guess I use the stamina one
Frostner
Blunt 35 dmg
Frost 40 dmg
Spirit 20 dmg
Total 95 damage
Mistwalker
Slash 75
Frost 40
Total 115
Its 20 damage more
And just keep a few campfires around
Gonna say no due to the fact that the only enemies you can consistently kill without them getting in a devestating hit are the already easy charred and archers, the threats in the ashlands are everything else which you'll need multiple rounds of attacking to kill, which means that the additional safety from being able to do your best attack, that being the secondary, and be completely safe from retribution from the soldiers edges it out
It's better in terms of performance
I'm looking at level 4 of each.
Yeah, working from level 4 of each, if you're going into ashlands with a level 1 frostner I salute you
No two-hand love? :<
No they're all bad
I love my two-hander. 💙
I know, I wish they were good
I love donuts.
Krom!
But the atgeir falls off hard in ashlands, yes it has knockback but with everything resisting pierce and it's damage being mostly pierce it just goes in the bin
2h swords have the same problem as 1h swords, and 2h mace, the demolisher is just a meme, -20% movement speed and the damage is kidna bad
Isn't the Atgier actually OP though
two hander is such a meme
What's the Demolisher? The Deer Hammer?
except atgeirs
Demolisher is the mistlands tier hammer
atgeirs is the only viable two handers because of the stagger x6 multiplier
Oh wait, the umm.. that one-hander hammer thing? Oh yeah that thing's silly. I never saw the appeal.
Mistwalker
Slash 75
Frost 58
Spirit 15
Total 148
Frostner
Blunt 35
Frost 58
Spirit 20
Total 113
Difference 35 damage
It isnt frostner vs mistwalker mistwalker is the upgrade to frostner
That's a good point, I think I agree. I guess it also depends on which skill is higher and if you really need the knockback as well as the frost. I went in with a Skoll and Hati lmao.
Nah just because atgeirs are OP that doesn’t write off other 2 handed weapons
I rather like the 2 hand swords doing jump secondary attacks
It's not an upgrade they're two different weapons. :U
Mechanically it may as well be
:U
When pure damage is taken into account yes, my argument is that the secondary attack on the frostner has a big knockback which means you can hit an enemy while they're still winding up and then they'll be knocked back and unable to hit you
atgeirs isn't op
their stamina cost is actually a well trade-off
also depends on sword skill level vs mace skill level.
They're a solid A tier
basically yeah, they're "good" but not S tier
Which isnt an objective thing but yes
the only weapon I consider S tier is Frostner (and the shield staff), even Mistwalker is just barely A+
cancel that out, because theoretically if you have 100 bows skill and 0 in all other combat skills bows are the best in ashlands despite 95% of their damage being resisted
So we're looking at more than just the damage. Also the charred monsters take 1.5* from spirit which makes the 20 in frostner into 30 and 15 in Mistwalker to 22.5 so it is about a 32.5 increase as I mentioned earlier, also we're looking at the attacks being able to knock them back further allowing you to survive better.
To put into perspective
Frostner is a silver tier weapon, that's VIABLE in mistlands, and still USABLE in ashlands
Oh for sure frostner is still incredibly viable
it's 3 biome stretch weapon, it's deffo S tier
Only if your definition is longevity but it gets powerscaled
One thing that I just absolutely love is that the warriors, being the toughest of the charreds, can not even touch you if you spam the secondary on a mace weapon (assuming it's a 1v1).
If you secondary attack a charred warrior and it's in range to start it's animation for attacking with frostner, you will take zero damage
If you secondary attack a charred warrior and it's in range to start it's animation for attacking with mistwalker you will take anywhere up to 200 damage through armour
I mean even powerscaled, it still fare better than some mistland gear in ashlands
Absolutely mistlands gear feels like a backwards upgrade more than a forward one
Makes clearing past content extremely easy rather than new ones
not necessarily, half of it perhaps, but half of it definitely feels powercreep
Arbalest my beloved ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Does this thing get an upgrade?
himmin, skoll and hati, mistwalker, and shield staff are arguably A-tier, even arbalest can be thrown into the mix
Yeah the ashlands tier arbalest is no contest an upgrade
If so dont specify
Skoll and Hati needs some love
Daggers feel sad in this game
funny thing is, I checked the numbers, stamina cost on spine snap vs crossbows make me feel like crossbows is more viable if you have low level bows
Idk bows eat my stamina like a god damn succubus its annoying
I put it in A tier because while it "sucks", once enemy is staggered it boasts the highest dps and perma stagger stun
it's definitely a skill issue weapon
The stagger limits on enemies in ashlands is a bad joke though
It's the most fun to play with
just me here casually doing 80% of an enemies health in one combo only for them to not get staggered
The only two thing that I consider OP is the Shield Staff and Frostner, but I think staff of the wilds might be S tier as well
first ashland experience was on hard and had frostner and skoll and hati carry me til i got the new weapons. skoll and hati are very efficient in dealing with twitchers and archers. frostner for charred warriors
Staff of the wilds is busted in that it's super dps efficient
you can run 1 health, 1 eitr, and 1 stamina and rock shield staff + staff of the wilds
and you just won't die
The shield is DUMB
I love it
to put into perspective
It sucks unless you got skill levels into it though :f
I abuse it so bad but cry about it
you can have 2 vines + 1 shield with 1 eitr food
2 vines is equal to a 70 damage dps
Not really its not at its max but It doesn't suck
while you can use stamina to like, juke attacks, or parry and cause your vine to damage even bigger
Eh I found it did, refreshing it so often was annoying
Staff of the wilds is either A+ or S tier now
Upgrade your staff
I think they mean refreshing it when you get hit by one enemy and it takes 100% of it's health instantly and pops because it's not affected by armour
Yes.
For me rn it's a 450+ armor Shield
5% penalty never lets me level it above 10 or something lol.
Its so free and it stops poison and fire from abusing me
I crank penalties down but i also play scared
Im very thorough
Dying for me is rare because of how i play
I see a building with flags and things flying around it
I'm at 50 something
Hell yea! I don't know how you go into Ashlands on hard with a pair of knives but 🫡 S&H carried me through Mistlands, I've been meaning to use it more in Ashlands but got carried away trying the new weapons 😅
Also if you get the ashlands spear DO NOT throw it, eventually you'll miss and the spear will disappear into the lava never to be seen again
My hot take is difficulty isnt more difficult its just more time consuming risk literally a stat change and nothing else i wish difficulty meant more enemies or smarter enemies
Also it's again kind of pointless because most of it's damage is reduced by 50% because charred resist pierce
If you want stats that bad make more stars and make them more common on higher difficulty
Otherwise shit feels spongy
Add more random events like corrupt seraphims or something start raining down hard on your base and blow shit up
Wait
YES "you are being hunted" this but everywhere
What the what is a corrupt seraphim?
.. the Fulings managed to capture a bunch of trolls and catapult them at your house
Kinda agree tbh, I thought this was better in Mistlands. It felt more... difficult than just more hits.
new mob I just made up
Seraphim I think are the wrong mythos.
YOOOO
Armored trolls think about it
Oh yeah
A troll variant that has armor and an actual weapon
... and they're catapulted at your house :U
Now corrupt valkeries, that's another matter. Like the fallen but less dead.
Brutal im thinking "the ground is shaking" but it's 5 armored trolls supported by fulings
There should be also like a 'Lost Wizard' that starts casting swamp themed stuff at you and it's fucking dangerous as shit :U
Also make the trolls Throw spears not rocks
Dvergr attack
And have those magically come back to them to show the players something they'll never get in the game.
Yeah that but like.. worse.
YES THE TEASE
Like he can cast this big AoE taking up the red spot and Eels rain from the sky :U
Better yet make it so they can be chopped for wood
Dverger attack, it's just a bunch of the damn dwarves coming at you and standing in front of you while you're trying to attack an enemy until you hit them and then they obliterate you
Leeches*
Exactly
Now this but a raid
I forgot do we have traps
Yes
The Ballista don't count
Yes but they're not great
They look like bear traps
Huh
Combine them with the auto ballistics
The Mistiles by the support Dverg hurts
They can DESTROY a troll in 2 seconds flat
Has the great hammer weapon type gotten an attack pattern yet? I haven't been on or anything for a minute
i am joe biden and i command the bees to be happy!
r u tho
no 😦
Do you hear the universe screaming
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IREgYXOJDe4& Then this is for you.
Me when my girlfriend goes away after taking my pills
thats actually crazy
It's the best. There's 30 episodes.
i dont rmember doing that.
im about to get as freaky as the trolls do
instead of valheim what if it was freakyheim
Bowelheim
Through external encouragement.
Aaah Shabibo in another car crash, never gets old.
Ah you gotta listen to the episode
The link you sent me of the presidents playing that game?
Yes

I feel if i was a valheim creature id be a deer
Run around make noises, get in the way of you building then die
Do we know if Flametal Ore Veins return after it sinks?
Which biome do I build my outpost in? I know I need to be in the plains to grow wheat, but is there a reason to make one in the mistlands or the ashlands instead?
Ye
For Mistlands Crops
I think everything Plains and above needs to be grown in their own biome.
No just till the soil, I grow everything in the meadows
do we still have the spreadsheet for all food in valheim? I thought we used have one in this dc right?
To my knowledge and in my experience, no, sadly they do not.. However, this encourages exploration, so on the whole it's a good thing.
Are your items inside a wizard's house?
if you have teleport back you can run away make them aggro you so they get further away from the bodies and die and go back and see if able to loot them if not just continue make them move away
no just need help killing things
But I don't have strong weapons, so I would serve as bait for you to get your items
you'll just die. don't worry about it. we need those enemies dead
Is there any way to stop fire spreading?
if u still need help i can come in and whipe them out fully maxed mage completed ashland
we got it!
well done ^^
Mistlands crops is a yes but Ashlands crops grow anywhere
Me and my friends landed in Ashland for the first time. Apparently had enough items for a portal... didn't bring enough wood, panicc, got portal down, didn't bring iron, panicc. Died at least 16 times, got skill issued. I want death upon me.
Where do we get Iron in Ashland, cause the struggle getting to Ashland itself is difficult.
pots in caves will randomly drop Silver, Bronze, Iron. Smash'em all
Yea, turn of the world modifier for fire spreading 😄
tame boar, wolves, chicken refuse to create children, theyre fed and sheltered. what am i doing wrong?
mostly space...give'em more space
hm ok
Question
I wanna deugly my base is it better to make a new one or to rebuild this one
deugly? Just make small changes as you unlock stuff I guess
Nah you dont understand
It's a big thing with ugly walls built it with terrain early game because trolls kept fucking it up
sorry I don't understand deugly or what you're asking then 😄
he means as in make the base less ugly
ohhhhhh!
you could show a screenshot in #building-screenshots ig
de-ugly haha
i might be able to help
unuglify lol
Uh sure let me log in for a sec
yea lmao
Ima have to figure out a good angle
yea, send screenshots lets see how bad it is
Might have to enable fly for a good angle maybe not would rather not tho
If you like building and you want a new pretty base and you've progress past swamp or mountains I would def try a new build
new base then
Aighttttttt gonna be a pain but i understand
in that case i could probably not help much im at plains rn
Nah its all good im just getting good angles i had forgot the commands i had to look them up i barely use them unless im wanting a top down view of my base
I cannot post this in chat im dm you this horrid fucking thing
Hi Guys! What is the best metod to uprade ashlands weapons with gems? Best would be to uprgrade base item to max and then uprade with gem?
Or when u change it to gemed version it goes back to lvl1?
Any idea why the resting status keeps popping in and out when I’m trying to camp in the swamp? I’m under a tiny shelter which is enough to shield me from the rain and I have a bonfire right in front of me. I’m also sitting. But the resting status will come on them go away then come back on then go away. It doesn’t stick long enough for me to get the rested buff.
Sounds like an enemy or enemies are nearby
Oh yeah that makes sense. Probably a leech lurking in the water nearby. Thanks.
is the flametal ore 1 to 1 after you use blast furnace?
As far as I know, yes, 1 ore gives you 1 ingot
we had just over 360 flametal before we smelted and in the end only 240
so Maybe anyone knows? ^^
they reset to level 1 when you upgrade them
ok thx!! 😗
dayum devs put in taxes now in the game for flame metal 😂
if the devs are done with deep north, they should make early game more engaging afterwards tbh
early game biomes are just so low quality compared to mistlands or ashlands
For real
no wonder why im always poor ingame xd they take 30% of my loots
hello guys can u hatch a volture egg or not?
No
They've not even started it.
What is weird we just got another flametal node and smelted 21 pieces and it gave us back 21
So something is weird asf
We are going to glitch dupe the missing flamatel
And it was just the two of us on at the time - and he wouldnt hide any for sure
then ur friend comes back with maxed flame metal gear and u see where the glitch is xd
no he wouldn't cheat
Huh I feel the exact opposite. I love the early game biomes and replaying them many times. Yes the new biomes are cool but the OG ones all just feel right to me.
well good thing is flamemetal goes really fast to stack up
i have like 200-300 that just sits mostly cause im maining mage, but wanna try go warrior and fight fader again to test wich is easier but have low sword skill like 27
well we have two on our server who don't help us
mine flametal, they hate the ashlands
Honestly, the ambience mix of meadows/black forest is always the best for me. Mistlands too, out of the fog (no mod)
will my other base be active while I'm gone? Say, the foundation of my base is removed, will it collapse while I'm gone, or will it wait for me to return in render distance
yea the twitcher are annoying coming in throw a rock then runs away and come back and repeat xd
finding cool mist-free spots is half the fun of exploring the Mistlands for me.
i know, its just they should do it after they done
the thing is, early game biomes are extremely grindy, like you have no space for actual fun stuff cuz all you do is grind as much as possible
Same here! I explored so much before deciding on "building up" a small bay (still doing it). The colors, the light on the jagged rocks and the tones are a visual treat every time
its just copper and iron, but you can skip some of that by using troll/root armor
mistlands
hey i've been using an arbalest against gjalls and find it useful but do people find it worth it to just use a maxed mistlands bow against them?
bow definitely does the job just fine
that's what i thought. otherwise the arbalest just seems not really that good
I prefer the arbalest, at least for the opening (sneak) shot. 3-4 hits to the eggs will kill a non-starred gjall with carapace bolts and the low projectile drop means you can attack from much further away.
Plus the knockback really helps. It’s way more accurate for hitting the weak spot for me
Though if you're in close under the gjall already carapace spear beats both bow and arbalest.
Hard disagree, but to each their own. I don’t bother doing full bronze and iron armour so it’s not a grind for me. Plus I play with 1.5 resources
Yeah but to hell with trying to find the thing afterwards!
if you're under the gjall it drops straight back down into your hands to be thrown again.
Yeah I guess, if I’m that close I just jump on top of them 🙂
little hard to reach the weak spot from there
though i suppose it doesn't matter if you've already gotten them close to death
Yeah it’s just for the lols.
They are easy, the two stars enemies will 1 shot u
no matter armor level
yea they are easy to kill but they are just so annoying when they are so far away and all of sudden they start chasing you and then you attack them and they start running away when your just trying to farm some fiddles and vine berries
That has nothing to do with the game, that's just you.
There's no need to grind when you split the longer lasting tasks in smaller portions.
eh i just want more cool areas to explore, meadows and black forest are very barren in areas to explore
Hello all! Trying to settle a disagreement with a friend.
Do monsters continue to act after going through a portal?
swamp i understan being barren, but even then you could add subbiome to it where theres mostly fungi
they cant go through portals...
After the player goes through a portal
you mean if they are still active in area that no players are in?
If they were already agro could they do something?
i believe that everything should basically freeze after you go away from that area
only if you are near they can destroy ur portals or tables, but not after, had charred warrior destroy stone portal infront of me, but never when i teleported away
Does anyone have a different opinion? Or can confirm?
I’ve had my portal remain safe more often than not in those situations.
tbh how do you name your lox if you have them? i always name first one i have harlon
After you leave the active area they just stop doing anything they was doing, portal run is viable.
but they still move, they wont attack structures but they can move to Far, If its a Morgen or Abomination they will Hide sometimes
In the Ashlands if they were focused on you at the portal say a lava blob it could destroy your portal if it was near your portal as you went through it
Nah my mate is saying they continue to attack structures that are meters away
that really should not be the case
Anyone from Comfy Valheim? He says it happens on that server?
basically if the enemies are not in active zone they should not attack
anyone know if there is a glitch where trees grow by themselves in the water?
that happens on pre ashlands worlds i believe, since the terrain was modified to acommodate the new ashlands
hmm, i did start a new world after ashlands dropped and i am not far enough to go to their border yet so cant really say if it happened to me too, you can try posting about it in #steam-bugs-discussion or #xbox-bugs-discussion tho 🙂
wait they changed the bonemass death message?
It doesn't happen on comfy, the vanilla game behavior is mobs attack nothing (or spawn) unless a player is in the sector with them. Spawners work the same way, so spawner farming does not work unless a player is idling near it
Anybody want to start a long term world together ?
Bruh, the Greydwarf raid killed all my boars
Man asksvin absolutely love fire, I've had to build an additional wall around my fire source because they will phase through the wall if I have only one layer to take damage from the fire
Tames phasing through build pieces is more of a bug than anything
can i use Wisp torch to clear the fog in Black Forest as well? My base if full with fog for many days now. 😦
oh 😦
use console commands
im not on my server, im just on someones server
Unfortunate
i think ill have to move my base because of it 😦
Fog in valheim is like smoke at a campfire
You move to get away from it and it moves to follow
i like it but u know too much is too much
my base is half on Meadows and Half on BF. 😄 In the Med. is nice and clear
Am I crazy or are there only two thirty minute foods in ashlands
do u think if i raise the ground above the mist will work? or the mist will rise as well above the ground?
Mist shouldn't move with the alteration of terrain
yes
thats one way of conquering the mist
Did they remove flametal from the lvl 6 cauldron upgrade recipe?
Did they? If so might be worth a biome skip
Only needs ashwood, finewood and work bench now apparently
i still have the old expensive one on my wall 😄
I'm checking scarlet's spreadsheet and is not showing the flametal. But idk if it's a mistake on her part or they actually removed it. But there's also a small description that implies it was
if you destroy a karve, do you get everything back?
yes, but the nails sink so do it in shallow water
yep, but to be safe try to destroy it in shallow water in case you dont pick everything at once
nah it definitely still uses 4 flametal unless they updated the game after ashlands hit live branch
I see 8 ashwood, 6 finewood and 4 flametal for the rolling pins and cutting boards
so i made a raft cause i didnt want to make a karve. and boy even right with the wind, a raft is so slow
Do serves have rules for characters? What if i made a new character and set all his stats to 100 though console commands, would anyone say anything?
you shouldnt be able to do admin commands in another persons server
No one would know unless you told them but you’ll upset people on a lot of servers by doing so. Seems more often than not it’s bring a fresh character per server
Ah ok, thanks
Wait did I miss a material?
There are 4.
Meat platter, honey glazed chicken, fish n bread, seeker aspic
Carapace buckler or Carapace shield?
yes
Buckler
seems my old worlds on single player aren't work anymore, anyone else have the same experience?
Then it must be a mistake in her part
I see the rolling pins cauldron update doesn't show flametal, I thought they removed it from the recipe
Lvl 6 upgrade for cauldron
This is what happens when you rush the spreadsheet within a day or so of PTB release then never look at it again
Literally unreadable
It was very recently pointed out to me on reddit that my material cost of sausages was wrong since I first released the spreadsheet, like, 3 years or so ago
if you played them a long time ago, you might have to move the worlds to locally saved worlds first.
Swarm thing?
Okay, took advantage of this to finally update the live branch spreadsheet to Ashlands; recipe for 6* cauldron upgrade should be correct now
#memes-and-clips last one
Still taking feedback on if folks like the meads section of the sheet or no
What is the Elder Mark on the Map again
boss fight
Aint going near that place then
Hello gamers
why are there trolls in the Meadows
Hello players, im getting iron very very slowly and i die a lot, but i managed to get some already. what are your priorities when you work with limited iron? I got a long ship and i have around 8 ingots left.
Trolls like the wide open spaces
You're probably right on the border of a Black Forest biome.
but iv been maping 1 dark forest for like 30 minutes now i dont wanna be surounded by it xD
boat & crafting upgrade stations 1st. Then weapon followed by armors
Expedition to a swamp and stuff as much iron into the longship as possible, have a harbour with a portal nearby as it is a multiday operation
multiday operation as in game time or IRL time? O_o
avoid nights, get rested, set fire in mine, get poison potions
But yeah going for longship as one of the first builds is a good decision
grab a few pickaxes
Eh more like in game multiday
i think this Igod is hardcore
When I did it with silver it was a 2-3 hour operation
Ayyy dont delete the text :/
Ironically my character is named igod hardcore
why? xD iGod answered and my comment was pointless
Ay Igor i want sources pictures and cordinates
You should be able to get a longship full in around 3-5 hours
and that’s enough iron to last you a good while
i just started. and i already got Stuff for forges and bronze how long after this is a Longship ?
3-5h i was still buinding my cabin 😄
Longship can be made basically as soon as you have gotten iron
well some random gave me full iron armor axe n shield and pickaxe
i dont have iron myself. so im Kinda Loost trying to get the starting phase up and going

You sound like my friend haha I helped him with mountain tier stuff and then he was kinda lost on his own world because his food was still Black Forest tier
Which bosses have you defeated
Do you have a base with cauldron forge etc?
i got the antlers but since i got the iron pickaxe i dont really need those anymore
i can make them as of right now since iv raided a few caves got like 15 cores
been trying to find the perfect area to make the base on my world until my friend opens her server again
Okay so you wanna make smelters and charcoal kilns and go mining for copper and tin in the Black Forest
atm i got 90 of copper n tin
Should definitely make a forge asap, else you won't be able to repair your iron gear
^
you have acces to a forge? you will need one to repair your iron tools. Maybe you even requiere a level 2 or three forge... if you read your iron pickaxe description you will find this info. for a longship, you need 100 iron nails. that is 10 iron ingots.
repair station lvl 2 it says
you have a karve? do you sail the oceans? or not at all
i havent even placed down a workbench yet
Oh
Okay well get started on a base don’t worry too much about location for now
Ideally by the coast and with a Black Forest not too far away, situated in the meadows
well i was gonna place it down on this Meadows as i just got out of a Darkforest but 10 meters across from here is another dark forest with a few giants
I need to ask something myself. i need the help. What iron tool should i get before any other? axe? pickaxe? hunter's bow? like i said i got the long ship and a stonecutter.
Pickaxe
in terms of progression, iron pickaxe is mandatory, but the huntsman bow is really good because of 4 meter aggro radius on it (compared to 8 on all bows) and it's the first bow to fire straight and not have variance on it
Has anyone played with multiplied loot before?
Multiplied like by copying it, if so then I have
No, like 1.5x more loot, etc.
didnt know that was a posibility how did you turn it on
yeah its good for like iron and stuff where you dont want to spend 20 hours getting enough of it
and you can turn it off when you get the items you need also
I'm 155.5 hours in and I've never used that setting. I mean, I already had a lot of stuff on my previous playthrough, just imagine the amount of items you're going to get.
Is it Valheim?
try the other chat
yeah i think its good for when youre starting out, i personally never had a need for it past iron age
it's ok i want to chat valheim, i was just wondering.
I feel like Hes the Soviet union when he deleted all his texts
gotta get rid of the evidence of it ever happening
What?
what? lmao

oh no thats the germans nvm
Nah, I'm fine with the default. I'm confused about the berry bush having like 5+ berries and only getting one per bush xD
im trying to keep it clean... nothing wrong with it... right?
I can understand for red mushrooms, i never really find enough of those
sorry aaron my Jokes are as bad as my life xD
lmao i had never tought of it before until you mentioned it hahahaha, true! we get one giant blueberry
but its fair, in cooking you also usually only use one berry or very few
i think red mushrooms are more common in the black forest right?
I shamelessly have loot x3 enabled and I dunno how I ever built stuff and things without it. It's great for solo players when you need to do a big gathering run, without it being a big run 🤠
yeah also great for building large things without mining 80% of time
Although I only enabled it after Plains, so I'd already endured much suffering
xDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Dudeeee!! i play as vanilla as i possibly can and i ask myself everytime: is this ok???
Play the game how you want, I’ve been playing with 2x resources, it’s just to make the game less grindy
Of course it's OK. It's what they're there for.
how would you turn it on asking for myself and not a friend
if youre having fun its ok
It's suuuper worth for when you need to replenish supplies or do a build, running around with 3x on can get insane very quickly with how much loot is left after a big encounter
Even with 2x resources it took me 10 years to find a cultist trophy
Time traveller from 2032?
havent been able to find a golem trophy in my whole game even with multiplier
I know noone will ever reward me for the time spent in valheim. But i believe the game was designed like this for a reason im not being told. The grind actually serves a purpose... what purpose? i really don't know.
It's in World Modifiers, you can change it anytime before loading in
Speaking of stone golems why do they not drop silver if they have silver veins in them ?
Thanks great sir you are doing Gods work spreading his Great messages around the world to people seeking enlightenment in these dark times
I think it gives you a sense of accomplishment when you finally do get the thing you want
Meh, some people enjoy digital chores, I really enjoyed it up till I finished swamps, then the digital chores list got real..
still dont understand why plains armor needs iron to work
Iron grind
black metal is much more fun to gather imo
Maybe they have plans for the second armor set using black metal
There are plenty of items that aren't effected by the moar loot modifier too, so it's not totally nuts with super rare stuff
I’m guessing trophies aren’t affected
can you share an example? please
I have found that the ashlands are traversible with mist land gear but it's hard to establish a safe zone. I've been able to set up portals in broken down buildings and jump around cuz I run a very stamina strong build. I've even been able to play King of the Hill with an atgeir and a bow with relative ease. However, getting anything done, like breaking into a fortress is really slow going while solo. I thought that stamina builds we're going to be weaker going into Ashland's but I found out really quick that I am much more comfortable. Might not be hitting anything very hard but I'm not getting hit. I completely changed my load out for Ashland's and instead of going pole arm with lots of stamina I went sword and shield with lots of health and it just was not working for me, I went back to the heavy stamina build and it's been working out great has anyone noticed something similar?
I feel like the second plains armor set would be a black metal berserker set
Which boosts attack speed and doesn’t impact movement speed but isn’t as tanky
wait, does too much weight sink your ship?
Trophies, stuff from chests etc. it's been a good bit since I've played, but there's definitely some items that won't duplicate
I saw a video on that and if you have a ship full of metal and like 8 carts full of stone on it it’s just about manageable
not that i know, it has an effect. but nothing you have to worry about killing you
I haven’t actually tested it tho
ok good
yeah a heavy ship is different to a light ship, but nothing fatal
when you find a swamp, but its so small, it doesnt have any dungeons
ive got a full black metal chest with honey, i dont know what to do with all of this stuff
My friend has a swamp with like 40 crypts and boneless and I’m so jealous
you will need it eventually
how did you get that much honey?
bees
bro has every queen bee on his map lol

Really, I've been playing a long time and I haven't noticed a difference. Is this on the wiki or confirmed by devs anywhere?
a lazy viking should have a brevery
Yeah heavier ships will be lower in the water and travel slower
i like speed
there’s a video on yt of a guy making a guide on transporting mass resources on immersive worlds and no portals
i watched a video, a guy showed a ship loaded with all silver ore (the heaviest item in game) and it had an effect. He also loaded the ship with several carts all full of heavy items.
i carried a boatload of silver and it was just as fast
hello everyone i just bought valheim
hi
im actually enjoying it at the moment
Ayy welcome and hope you enjoy your stay
thank you!
happy building
Thank ya!
I’ve had the game bought for 3 years and only just started playing since the Ashland PTB and it’s so fun
the only advice i`d give is to keep the bees happy
loading the ships inventory doesent affect the speed in any way, the carts are another thing entirely 🙂
How many hours you have on it?
Yeah I already saw a video of a guy getting attacked by them lol
Around 150 probably just under, it was 130 last I checked
I spent an unhealthy amount of time according to my steam hours played thing
80 hours in 2 weeks, that’s a full time job wtf
Dayum
damn, got 700h
Yeah a streamer told me that this game is addictive lol
you can spend a lot of time building also, it never ends, i just end up adding and adding things and the place gets larger and more laggy every week
i need counseling
do you have any suggestion on what location I should build my little city
Honestly I’ve found I’ve reached a point where I need to learn to do resource management properly
My mistlands tier character has such a cluttered mess of a base and I kind of don’t feel like playing him no more because of that
i think a good starting point is always in the meadows near some water
218 hours for me! I keep getting smushed in the Mistlands, Gjalls everywhere 🫠
Does anyone else have the problem of the GPU usage spiking when starting valheim ?
oh I'm near the water right now but there isn't a lot of space, should I cut the trees?
The start is a magical vibe honestly, savor that, don't rush!
I hope they consider adding a chest tier in between wooden and iron
I think if you turn the shadows value down a bit it has a dramatic impact
yep or you can just wander around until you find the perfect spot
8 -> 24 -> 32, a 16 item chest would be perfect for pre swamp
what are your graphical settings
I'm a low end pc gamer so yeah if someone could suggest me some settings
That's a common issue. For some reason the menu screen is uncapped.
find ''performance'' video setting. stick with that maybe.
its weird yeah
For low spec pcs I recommend low everything and maximising view distance as much as your pc can handle
the game is made to look retro anyway
I think the only graphic settings that really matter are SSAO, render distance, depth of field, anti aliasing and a sufficient amount of render scale
What’s SSAO?
Alright thank you
SSAO is a way to render shadows in game, makes it look really good
Ohhh I was wondering what it was
as soon as the game starts my buddys GPU is at 100% lol, shouldnt be, settings not even that high
I do recommend turning motion blur off
I don’t understand why games continue to have it on by default, it just makes the experience worse imo
you said SSAO off ?
If your pc can handle it have it on
you can turn it all off and see if it works
It's Something Something Ambient Occlusion
i dont have a problem
a question, how do i break stone?
Pickaze
you gotta defeat the first boss
there are other ways but they are not really intended but you could use them
you can't break stone without a pickaxe you will have to loot the ones on the ground
I mean the crow talked about that but I don't really know how to arm myself
you can
just look around see what you can do with the things you find
wow lame. two swamps with nothing in them
does node popping still work?
@livid gazelle there are a few ways to break stone 😛
well you dont have to be the one breaking the stone
yeah
Employ some blue collar workers amirite
I thing bug colored workers work even better
Damn I never even considered those
I think I’ve realised something
Like every 2 biome tiers feels like when you go into terraria hardmode if you’ve ever played that
why does it still say "the crafting station needs a roof" even though i made one?
The workbench needs to be in a building or small shack with roofing
wait can I send you a picture in DMs?
Go for it
check dms
how do you extinguish a fire
Pray for rain
oh
use Co2 for electrical fire
choke it!
no, they are correct, YOU as the player cant break it without a pickaxe 🙂 (when you hire some help its entirely different story tho 😉 )
No, it's you doing it. It's the standard to steal credit for the work of underlings, it's your right as the boss man to claim all the honor and fame
What is the purpose of smoke bomb?
stealth
well yeah, but you can break stone without a pickaxe 😛 not yourself thats right
Does it actually work?
No
I think it’s actual usage is meant to be to make a trail of smoke to the gate so the ballistas don’t attack you and then battering ram the door
i believe it is suposed to be fire extinguisher 😉
I've tried, it didn't work
maybe it gets the mobs ||high||
The undead mobs don’t take smoke damage afaik
Does the skugg not detect through smoke? Either way its aim is terrible.
it doesent? crap, and this whole time i believed they are meant to put down things that catch on fire 😦
think you can use the "removedrops" devcommand
There are some item commands you can use to clean that up, but if items are outside the radius of a workbench or other base structure they will disappear after 3 in-game days, or even better you can build an obliterator and turn all that stuff into coal.
Thor is not that giving tbh
I just double checked, we actually we a bunch of blueberries per bush. check it out yourself
how do get the dev command up
think of one berry = 1 kg or w/e
you on steam?
yes sir
can`t rly make anything with with 1 or even 5 berries but a tarte
Gotta close valheim, then right click it in steam and go to properties-->general and then type -console in the little text box
Then you can launch the game and when you get in press f5 and type devcommands
Then from there you can do a bunch of things, like the removedrops thing. Can look it up too if confusing. It's not as complicated as it sounds
I thought it was 1.0 weight is 1.0kg
With berries being 0.1 per 1 or 100 grams worth of berries? Seems to kind of makes sense but starts to break down in certain areas
can you use a old save(from 2020)? like if the new conent will actually generate on it and stuff
Along as you haven’t explored the deep north Ashland’s or mistlands they will generate properly
might be like old minecraft world just generates outside of the "Old generated stuff"
excluding deep north don’t go there yet it’s not out
Even if you have it still will generate fine
Oh
so theres no downside in doing it then?
yup, you are fine to carry on
aight thanks
I'm currently playing in my world i've been in for 3 years now, its just got a few funky spots lol
well we havent played at all since the original early access release, so a lot of updates were skipped
yeah it should be just fine, I'd make a back up just in case though
ok iv placed it in modifications to their Launch options
I like to do that just for posterity
did not work
can always look it up or follow a video to make sure you're following everything right. Make sure you put -console and not just console, and then while in your world press f5 and type devcommands, before getting access to everything
how do i open the console
f5
dosnt work
do you have -console defined in your startup parameters
i dont think to
go to valheim in your steam library, right click it, and go to properties
yep
I made the mistake of going through my old Ashlands portal pre-update
I landed in the ocean with nothing around. I couldn't get console commands to work, so I logged into my other server and stored all my gear, then went back to the other server and committed suicide.
the ashlands seem pretty challenging but i dont think there are too many enemies, so far its all been managable even when there are more than 5 around
cant wait to get my hands on better equipment though
Stay over night
TIL - metal portalling depends on the entry portal, not the exit. If you only need to take metals one way, you just need a stone portal at the origin point.
Which is suuuuuper handy
