depends on your playstyle
also depends on where you are in the game
How do you add spoiler tags on Discord?
anyone tryna join my minecraft server?
Does the Troll from Trollstav really aggro everything (including you)?
just made it to the deep north!!
Use || ||
Hello persons
hello 🙂
Hello
how is it going? are we all playing right now?
You can highlight the text and click the "eye" or "spoiler" icon
also can type "||" at the start and end of the sentence
Yes. They're very good though. They'll attack whatevers closest to them so as a mage that's great because you can hang back and bombard enemies while they focus the trolls
I am :)
It looks pretty frickin' cool, ngl
i have made a grave mistake
it seems that in my haste for silver I have made the fatal mistake of not distinguishing between deep north and mountains
uh oh
if you're worried about deep north content not generating later, it shouldn't matter much. As long as you just explored a little slice
The upgrade world mod or similar will probably be around then as well
no the mistake is just that I am now like a full hour journey from my last base
and my boat is at like 20%
You can always just go to shore near a meadow or black forest and pop up a crafting bench to fix it
sure
but then theres the hours of searching for mountains
followed be even more hours of searching for silver
and i thought deep north was fix it ;-;;
insane how bad melee focused gear is in comparison to all other types of combat gear
fr
Having fun?
I couldn't stand them
also i love the new camera and aiming part of this update- i can attack and swing away fromo where im looking so i can watch my back while mining
Camera update?
battleaxe wide swings are just awesome
||how are we supposed to get in the central towers of the charred fortresses?||
hold walk backwards and press attack
||battering ram or catapult||
you attack backwards.
last update that wasn't the case, you snapped forward
Oh i think i subconsciously noticed but didnt pick it out
Makes little difference to me
it makes a lot of difference to me
i play alot of dark souls 3, where free-aiming attacks is a critical skill in pvp, which is all i ever do
the inability to free aim made combat without lock-on pretty difficult
Actually a lot yeah. Despite playing this game a lot, I haven't interacted a lot with hildrs quests. Just doing the mountain one now and having a blast
muscle memory issues
I still haven't either
I only ever did pve
For me i just think the difference is muscle memory is small but maybe i have no life to the point of being able to adjust
honestly i might turn on a slight resource multiplier for my world, i dont like how long resource gathering takes sometimes
pvp main here, 3 hours of murky hand scythe makes cyanide look tasty
Im open about using 3x its just time
i might go 1.5x or 2x
I run solo and dont wanna have to spend 20 hours so i can barely get what i need
fr after a long wood gathering session even sometimes i cant even finish one build
I dont think its cheesy more than it is a time thing like enemies still bully me and i still have to be careful
So for me 3x is only op on bees thats it otherwise its never felt like "i have so much shit"
3x resource multiplier in ashlands 😨
Haven't been there yet
You're going to be drowning in grausten
God i hope so
No as in, I'm already drowning in grausten on 1x
Is it useful
Oh wait is it like a new stone?
i also might turn on the portal items modifier if moving some things is too tricky
Yeah
If so ima LOVE it i wanna build a castle
but other than that i just want more resources
Fair enough and no shame in it
The wiki has chop values listed for the Axes but it looks like it's missing the Ashlands one. I'm not sure how the value is determined though. Do the ||Berserkir Axes|| have a higher chop value than Jotun Bane?
edit: should have searched, already asked and answered: #valheim-chat message
how does one make friends that will want to play through whole game with me?
Idk that myself
damn smh
Find yourself some D&D nerds
I feel fancy... Just contributed to the wiki for the first time 😳
The lightning effects look really cool in Valheim
What is the exact line in the context of valheim of something not being an island but just shallow water
Im curious to see what peoples thoughts are on the difference
Or even better whats the difference between a big river and a big enough mass of water to be different land
The lowest spots between the "island" and the main land mass is low enough that it can't be flattened/raised with the hoe. Meaning that you can't get close enough to raise it without swimming first.
OH! i hadnt thought of thay
So if the water separating the land is more than 8m
AHHH that's perfect for defining it
Now i wanna test it thank you neon
I just mean, there is no possible way to use a hoe to connect the island to the main land, because you end up swimming before your hoe can affect the lowest part under the water
Yea but the limit to build land up is 8 meters
You can sit on the edge and it'll interact partly with the water
But not if its past 8 meters so that's actually VERY provable
But the depth of water before you start swimming is only like 1.5m... so if the water between the island is 20m apart... but the water is only 3m the entire way, you can't raise it all with a hoe since you can't use items while swimming
I would constitute using a "dock" or "Scaffolding" to do it as cheating :p
Yes but if i sit on the edge of land and make it so just the edge of the ring is on the land it'll build into the water
I mean if you want to start raising land starting from the shore line sure
So now heres a point is it when you have to swim or when you can't physically make it possible to walk
Well yes why wouldn't i
I think it'd be pretty hard to find water thats greater than 8M deep other than ocean biome
Isn't the ocean 26 meters
I dont have a way to test this because im not using cheats I'd have to make a new world lol
question about how valheim updates... do they only update the new biome or does early stuff get love too? like new weapons or buildables early game. first valheim update just wondering
mostly new biome. Rarely they add stuff to past ones though.
Planned is to add one more biome as the last one (Deep North), and maybe there'll be something else before then too like a small ocean update or something
ah ok cool thank you... i would love these devs to make a similar game in different era when they finish. maybe like chinese or japanese lore lol random but just a thought lol
lightning berserker axes are insane. damn
The new ship is HUGE 😭
So yeah, stuff got burned down....
Can someone explain how the new fire mechanic works for the game? It just happened on an existing save which is weird, but I also found there's a new fire option in the World Modifiers.
do the oozers only spawn at night in the swamp?
i had cleared out and readied an entire bay for a new dock expecting to be able to fit the new ship and my current longboat. it took the entire area lmao
Making my way to ashlands now and lord i feel like this boat will never break 😭
any suggestions for armor to use in ashlands?
Carapace until you can build Ashlands armor IMO
But many people like using mage gear. Personally, I'd only go mage if your magic skills are decently leveled (mine weren't)
aight cause I was rocking wolf gear
The speed is awesome, but some creatures will one shot you
Not too bad! Bet it's nice
Bro was on a mission 😭
anyone know anything about modded servers
hello. i need help with some of my buildings does anyone want to help me ?
i use apex hosting and am having trouble getting anything to work
I would help but i'm just now getting to ashlands, wish me luck please 🙏
i can help you with that if you want to
You got more important things to go about, it's fine, plus I'm in my solo world
Thank you for the offer though 🫶
you can make it server and kill it together i killed the boss yesterday
but ok goodluck
Best blood gem weapon?
i think bloodgeon is better
Anyone else getting basically nothing from planted vineberries?
Dundr
kanis ellinas?
ela dike mou
this new update is dumb. there is TOO MANY MOBS. its impossible to even explore without an army of fn mobs lefta nd right
true but you can exlpore it if you are carefull and also take item that have frost (ice)
theres too many mobs. there is no reason to have THAT Many mobs. its non stop fighting. they spawn from lava, the spawners if you fight too long theres more and more and more. 3 of us have spent 5 hours doing nothing but kiting 15+ mobs and have progressed none
building every time you explore more ground is good 2 . take moreground then build smth to get cover and kill then move on
weve put portals down, and they just get impossible to get to due to mobs.
Mob spawns were already nerfed multiple times on PTB. If you still can't handle it set difficulty to easy instead of ruining it even more for the rest of us
it feels kinda cheesy but i put a bunch of campfires down to give me a safezone for a base
so, vineberries appear to be broken. I left 3 clusters on a vine to see if more would grow, came back a day or two later and the 3 are now gone
ruining it? naw, its a balance. im not turning down the basic setting due to the over spawn rate of mobs.
Ashlands is designed to be difficult - you need all o your skills and game knowledge you’ve built up from previous biomes to succeed
not catering to carebears is not a lack of balance. The game is specifically intended to be difficult.
fuck off
Dude this is uncalled for
Play nice
yes im fine with it being harder, its fine, i like the challenge. i just dont get the mob rate. the valkeryies spawn in the same spot even after we beat them and come back its just more kiting 20+ mobs then progressing
What's uncalled for is calling for nerfs because someone thinks they're too good to use the provided world modifiers.
They're there for a reason
I’ve seen that as well.
Valkaries, morgens and the Bonemaws all spawn in the same places
I had a bonemaw keep respawning every 5 minutes in EXACTLY the same place
Great farm for serpent meat 🤣
yes, so its that fact that we have to fight the same mobs every time we sleep or teleport
It’s something that I’ve also noticed in the mistlands as well - just not as pronounced
Gjall have a habit of respawning in the same places repeatedly
I think regular serpents do the same thing
like we spent 5 hours looking for 1 land of flametal oree, and spent every minute kiting armies
Yeah.
I think the main thing for combating this is to kill the spawners in the general area
Took me an hour just to LAND in the Ashlands due to how many mobs kept attacking me 😂
we took out the spawners, they spawn from lava, and just randomly it seems. nothing to do with spawners has impacted the level of people we have had to fight
That or creating a walkway in and out of an area with campfires 🤔
That sucks!
I haven’t had as much trouble with the mobs spawning in lava
They mostly spawn on the land for me
Just killed me first boss after 4 days of in game preperation!!
Hey there are here any germans who would like to help me in my world?
Make sure you’re not accidentally out at night re high spawn rates. It’s really hard to tell, for me anyway, what the time of day is. It’s very hard yes, but it is manageable once you figure it out. But you will still die even at that point, very small mistakes are punished harshly here
I'm starting from scratch including the character. What do you think of these settings? #screenshots message
Yeah, i think i cant play amymore. These 5 frames per second are making me insane.
Are you on PC? If so switch off SSAO and turn native rendering down to 75% or so
Sorry, render scale, not native rendering
Switching that from Native to 95% knocked my GPU usage down by 20%
Old gen xbox
sooo Ashlands are out now ? that's great! just out of curiosity, does it improve / change base game as well ?
The update is for base game...
Im cooked aint I?
You are indeed, cooked
Damn
i know... i mean... things outside of that specific biome... before i reach there.
Nothing I've noticed
The toggleable fire hazards modifier and a hay floor decoration
I just found out that your old house collapses slowly as you arrive.. so in theory, you could portal, fast-build your ship, and hopefully not get boiled alive as you clamber on board to avoid a long sail through shark/dragon infested waters.
toggleable fire hazard.. that sounds good. I liked in in icarus. that if i was not careful around fire places i could burn down my whole base 😄 so is it something like that here too ?
Essentially but I don't use it. And it's only to enable it in all other biomes, it's always on in ashlands.
You would be able to burn meadows trees if it's enabled
yea ok, that looks interestig but weird at the same time 😄 ill give it a try to see myself how i feel about it. thanks for answers!
I think you could in earlier public test versions but I never tried it
There is some 2 or 3 New buildable structures, but is Just for decoration
You can't dig under the outer wall (they fixed that) but you can use the hoe to raise a terrain pillar to hop over it.
You can still dig under the central tower to get at the loot though.
i last did it yesterday so yeah, pretty sure.
why does fenris give fist skill? are fists even viable in any way?
does anyone know if regular drops and items, if not crafted, burn in Firelands? e.g. pufferfish
There is a mountains-tier fist weapon, flesh rippers.
ahhh ok
fists secondary attack lets you spartan-kick greydwarfes into campfires if nothing else 😁
Maybe not viable but i'd be sad if it was removed.
fist skill ? context matters i suppose
just like troll gear gives +15 sneak skill, Fenris gives +15 fist skill
skill just refers to the levels for all the attributes
huh.. neat, just realised fire scorched earth is considered cultivated soil.
oh thats neat
been playing around with the fire hazard, i really like it. adds a lot of fun and mayhem
especially when you are a terrible aim like me and you're pinging fire arrows all over the black forest
fire arrows are kinda OP now, one arrow is enough to wipe out a greywarf spawner, i even managed to take down an abomination by kiting it onto ground i'd set fire to, took about 4 arrows from my Crude bow haha
Hi, I have question about staff of protection shield. It does not feel like its working properly. Is the numbers on it correct? The mobs that hit me 15-20 without shield break my shield with 2 hits. So how does it give me 435 shield at lv47 blood magic?
yeah, in world modifiers you can enable it for all biomes as a setting (its the default state for Ashlands biome) i've managed to burn down three of my own bases so far haha
oh jeez okay, good to know
its also a super easy way to get coal, just shoot trees
I appreciate if anyone could give me an answer about this
sorry, i've never done the magic stuff so cant answer
Dude, the grausten payload for catapults only deal around 20 dmg per shot...
Explosive ones deal +500
That has to be either a bug or an oversight
Like they forgot to add a 0 at the end
also, not just buildings... trees, bushes, logs... the ground... everything burns.. set an enemy on fire and they'll set everything they touch on fire too. Its amazing.
theres a hotkey to organize the chest?
Oh god, sounds like hell. Gonna be home soon so will give it a go
there's ctrl+click or shift-clicking to add stack or split stack, i dunno what else
Cant get a lv 5 Galdr Table atm right?
but short the items inside don't have hotkey?
not as far as i know
with i put some simple mods in my valheim like one for organize chest my friends also need to have the mod to enter the world?
I believe its cause the damage done to the bubble doesn't take into account any of your armor
not necessarily no, the server host can use mods and the people connecting can use those mods or not, guests to the host's worlds can only use those mods though, they cannot use mods that the host is not using. Also some mods may require all users to have them installed.
thank u
no worries, i'm no expert however, these are just what i've observed myself
Nice, i can use fire arrows to knock down birch trees. Still have to roll the logs into each other to get finewood though, more fire turns the logs into coal otherwise
With fire hazards on?
Seems like the only significant advantage grausten payload has over explosive is that it has much higher range. Grausten is also much more accurate, it almost always hit the exact same spot, while explosive is much more inaccurate.
Grausten: 56-60m
Explosive: Around 40-50m
I'd be careful about sharing chest with someone not using the same mods though as they might handle the inventory differently. Have yoy tried the place stacks button on the vanilla chest interface? Might "workaround" your organization needs unless it's more about making things look nice
I'll be honest, when the ashlands enemy invasion event produces the same amount of mobs if not less than natural spawns
Then the amount of mobs that spawn is severely out of wack
How does anyone handle this? It's crazy
Mainly using the mobs against each other. A bunch of them have friendly fire. AoE or no-cleave penalty weapons are also great
It is a bit tough going melee imo, but mages or hybrid mage/melee does very well
I feel that
Anyone please help me a bout the new bows.....which things i need to make them?
need to kill a ||Bonemaw (Ashland Serpent)||
I just killed my first Geirhafa, it was a super fun fight! A bit tougher than I was expecting though, I'm glad she didn't have any minions around
Prob mainly tough too because I went at it with suboptimal gear on hard mode but it made it fun. Really gotta get used to how damn slow swords attack though, I'm not a typical sword user
So did fire arrows got a rework?
Don't think so, why?
Can you parry or interrupt her triple frost nova? I was too chicken to try, I'd just run away when she did it
Someone mentioned earlier that they are stronger now, maybe new Ashland type
Nah no Ashland fire arrows. I do think fire arrows can be better if you have Fire Hazard World Modifier on though
Which I guess is always on in Ashlands, so maybe they're better there. Prob not better than frost arrows tho
I feel like at least some of the enemies in ashlands are resistant to fire
Geeezzzz.
I wonder why that is considering everything in that area is burnt by fire.......
/s
Mini bosses are immune to stagger so it's worthless.
And any attack can be parried, only thing that's important is whether is worth doing it or not
help I cant do 2 by 1 with 2 roof for workbench anymore still exposed @@
They're not immune to stagger
Also not all attacks can be parried. Like the blobs spray can't. But you're saying geirhaffas can?
Oh right, maybe not from blobs then.
I ended up taking her down pretty quick once I got her attack pattern. Run from frost nova, dodge around her ice spray and heavy sword attack her, parry her regular attacks for heavy damage
the workbench needs to be like 80%+ covered. the best way is to make a small house. the cheapest way(material -wise) is to make a "U" with 2x2 walls and attach the roof to the tree facing down toward the open end of the "U".
I tried to parry geirrhafa several time with atgeir and never worked... Even when injured. I thought mini bosses in general were immune
figured just added xtra 2 roof now it works XD
the Wiki is your best friend for quick answers and youtube is a "good to have, know-it-all" of an acquaintance.
Like the parry kept failing or she just didn't get staggered?
I think I was running wolf skewer + sausage + turnip soup and I had no problem parrying her with a maxed iron shield
On Hard difficulty
No stagger at all
Probably just unluckiness
bom dia! kd os BR?
Sorry?
I don't understand..
Perhaps because this is an "English only" channel. So please only use that language.
Sorry, I just joined the server here, I was looking for some Brazilians so I could chat a little
But now I have doubts, is the server here just "North American"?
No theres people from all over
No, it's a global Discord server.
Which means the main laguage used is English, as that's considered as a "common language".
If you're specifically seeking Brazilians to play with I would recommend Brazilian gaming discords
The other reason why it's "English Only" here is it would make moderating messages quite impossible if everyone uses his / her own language.
It's mostly down to moderation why it's English only
If the mods had to be multilingual it would be pain for them
Snookered
a charred archer just appeared in mistlands/plains crossover
i dont get it why do the charred marksmen one shot evereything
They don't
Running any mods and/or have you killed the ashlands boss?
once you beat the boss, they will take over and random spawn in most/all biomes, like it is with all bosses/biome minions.
Unless you wear the wrong outfit.
Also, some monsters appear in biomes below them once you dealt with their bosses.
It's been like that throughout the entire game, so I doubt the devs all the sudden have decided to change that.
If not I'd get some screenshots and file a bug report because that's not supposed to happen
Although it could be that you're on a server where someone killed the boss
does the shield generator take bonemass spawning bones?
Hi, quick question, since Ashlands night is kinda.. dark, visibility is basically zero. Is this intended to **really ** prevent players from venturing at night or is it a bug?
most likely. you should not venture at night ever really
Hard to know, but not like it matters that much. Exploring at night has always been a bad idea
How is everyone enjoying Ashland's
I myself haven't been able to play but I'm excited to today
preparing right now. just about to craft the boat
Yeah, that's true, but now you cant even farm at night without spamming whole base with light
It's a big boi
It's kinda annoying, night was always "base keeping time" now it's absolute "skip it"
1.5 more loot isnt working very well? it gives me double always
do you know if the shield generator takes withered bones?
It's rounded up, depends on the item
It rounds up? Seems more like a feature
I don't know yet, I haven't built one yet. I would guess no.
I'll have to throw one down and report back
No, it doesn't.
Which makes those bones quite useless after you spawned that big blob.
they really should add it
Yup.
I mentioned it during the PTB, but they may have missed it. 🤷♂️
Bone fragments and charred bones are much more plentiful and shield generators finally gave fragments a use.
Those bones are also limited. In that case just put them in obliterator
every summoning item is the same except for deer trophies, they have exactly 1 use and nothing else
I'm aware of that.
But unlike most boss summoning items, the withered bones are a lot easier to find in large numbers.
Also when holding your mouse over the shield generator, it says that it requires bones.
And that item is called Withered bones, so it would be logical if those would be used to feed that generator as well/
But it would also be illogical that out of all summoning items that is the only one that has another use while all others don't
Deer trophies do. So that "logic" is already there.
the dvergr circlet is so useful, i cant really play without it anymore
yeah but deer trophies have purpose in the same tier of progression, withered bones only exist to summon bonemass
Although soldier trophies technically have a use if you put them in ballistas for targeting
Ballistas
soldier trophies aren’t the main boss item though, the key is
Fair
You do use soldier trophies to summon the Queen after she's been defeated, though.
So you could consider them as a "boss item".
I’d like to see ancient seeds be plantable to make those spawners but right now it seems these items are intended to be boss summon only
you can technically put any trophy in the ballista
so deer counting again
point is i doubt they allow them to get used for powering the shield, but you can always hope
its item name is bone and it looks like a giant bone so therefore the generator should take it
Which is why I mentioned it as feedback in the PTB.
"fueled by bones of any kind"
Very thankful that the obliterator lets you get rid of the insane quantities of ancient seeds you end up with
Yeah, I already said that: #valheim-chat message
whats metals should i bring to ashlkands
2 iron
stonecutter
Ooh a new portal!
And i suppose its oua stone cause ashlands
Ashlands showers you in the new stone
oh good
It gets to the point where I'm sick of it because I'm thirty seconds out of my base with a full inventory
Stop mining everything
And then I empty it and another minute later its full again
one morgen roll and like 100 grausten falls on the floor
I've not mined a single thing
If we only had an option to turn off the auto picking up.....
Stop picking up everything
Monkey brain sees sparkly on floor
Monkey brain collect
Also if I left it all on the floor my game would grind to a halt and crash
How exactly does one turn the chests in to Hildr?
Do you need all of them first??
The ashlands is covered with stone structures that are instantly destroyed by a lot of mobs and drop hundreds of stone
Pretty sure itll despawn unless everythings inside a spawn proof area
Never mind got it
Not nearly fast enough
Can turn them in one by one.
As a matter of fact, it's the only option as the things are so darn heavy, you may have to walk being over burdened.
I believe the despawn timer only ticks if the object is loaded and not within the radius of a player base item
dvergr wards might count as player base I’m not entirely sure
Yep
And I'm not spending ages waiting in the ashlands for the 4000 grausten that a morgen just dumped on the floor to despawn
There's always dev-commands to remove drops you don't want.
They do
But the risk of that is you may also remove something you don't want to be removed.
Inventory management kinda sucks
I thought the new thing I made was supposed to protect my base from projectiles. Did I misunderstand?
Is it powered up?
And it only protects from projectile attacks made from outside the radius
It should while fueled
give it BONES
This was the trick.
I understand what I must do now.
🐶 🦴
nya
alright so without spoiling too much: what is a dverger rogue and what does he do?
A NPC that acts like a boar in that, if you anger them, they will attack you. There are 3 types of "dwarf". That is one of them.
archer, mage and rouge are the 3 classes
we beat eikthyr and decided the mistlands looked really cool
Thank you so much ... That's what I missed 😭I forgot to kill one ,I dodged the first one I encouraged
but he just does nothing?
he is around a little house thingy with a blue orb
They are extremely useful
Lure enemies you have no business attacking back to them and they will help you
for the most part, yes. they will defend themsleves against moster attack, but they are passive otherwise. no real interaction as of yet.
Don't hit them though. Then they get angry
oh nice
there is this one big insect thing and its been bothering us
also: any way to see in the mist?
is that like the 3rd boss?
Plains boss
there is a item that you can craft if you follow the standard progression.
o
standard progression is: meddows, black forest, swamp, mountains, plains, mists and finally (current end) ashlands.
Having just defeated the Meadows, I recommend assaulting the Ashlands next..... 👀😆
@near furnace yo uh, when will the paid valheim soundtrack thing be updated cuz there's no songs past hearth and home
Didn't know Smiffe composed the music
They don't, they can ask other devs tho
Instead of pinging a dev you may instead post it in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202312684364910612 where all of the devs may read it.
Edit: added the right channel.
Oh ok thank you for telling
Probably other devs won't know either, they're the makers of the game, not the composers...
The one who made the music probably has a much stronger word on what music is available (That's also assuming it's the same one since the beginning)
sooo how dangerous is the mistlands? i keep hearing these weird sounds during storms
Very dangerous. From the sounds of your progression you shouldn't be there
The noises might just be lightning tbh
too late, we already built our new base here
Defeated Yagluth already I presume?
Would really really really recommend following the progression Nevyn sent above on your first run. You can skip biomes, but it is tough and requires a lot of game knowledge to do well
no we killed eikthyr
Oh
am i cooked?
Yes
Literally
uh oh
I think anything you find will be able to kill you with one stroke, yeah
Probably gonna take you many dozens of hits to kill an enemy in that biome too
Probably just by looking at your particular direction
You just killed the first boss from the first biome...
Mistlands is the sixth one
but look at how beautiful!! #building-screenshots
I'm sure this statement was meant as a joke, don't take it seriously
It is quite beautiful, I like it
It's a nice base~
if dangerous then why beauty shaped?
Probably gonna be destroyed soon
You might just not have the equipment to defend it is all
Beauty can be quite dangerous
we are right at the edge though
Ever try swimming down the niagra falls waterfall? It's beautiful
💀
Fitting considering you would be on edge 24/7 while there
btw how hard exactly is the elder?
Not terrible, but a lot tougher than eikthyr
Unless you can manage some mistlands gear while you're there
Very manageable tho, you have about the right equipment
bow is the way i assume? should i get a finewood bow?
Should have bronze gear for fighting Elder
I'd suggest making a cauldron and some better food tho
Several weapons can be crafted if you unlock the forge as they need early materials
You'll want to get good at luring creatures into Dvergr rogues and mages
Bow is safest yea, with fire arrows! I recommend finewood
Not like I would still recommend breaking progression, it's much better following the intended way and only afterwards do whatever you want
health or stamina foods?
I just started playing again. Did flametal ore change to glowing metal ore and did flametal change to ancient metal?
we still have 80 copper but no tin
Old flametal is completely worthless now. There's a new flametal
Hmm actually, can't you skip straight from meadows to Mistlands and get a carapace spear? Although it would be tough
So all that time I spent getting the old ore was pointless.
tell me more
is there also a club/mace i can get here early? im specced to clubs
Needs yggdrasil wood
It would be reallyy......... difficult and contain a ton of spoilers
ah nvm then
Can't soldiers break that?
Yes but you're assuming everyone can just easily make them do that.
Krom is much more feasible
Although it does need iron, which is two tiers above meadows
Easily? No, I'm assuming it would be insanely difficult to skip from meadows to Mistlands. I doubt I could do it without dozens and dozens of deaths
Toughest thing would be ||somehow getting 5 black cores deep in a mine filled with enemies that you can't fight and who will all oneshot you||
Ashlands has a ton of lag spikes. I've set the graphic settings to the lowest, but it's still dropping frames. r u guys experiencing the same thing?
yup
A lot of people are yea
lots of people have this issue. there is a video link to youtube in building tips that helps with FPS/lag.
my friends and I experience lag almost simultaneously. It starts as soon as we enter certain areas.
I built an infinite chicken farm in my house, and it’s not nearly as laggy as Ashland.
It’s frame dropping, not consistently low frame.
I have about 350 ancient metal. All garbage.
Nothing's funnier than getting stuck in skull and gjall above wants to commit a war crime
it's become a collector's item
At least let us craft decorative statues or something.
Tin can be found along the shores of every waterway in the Black Forest.
I dunno, it looks cool to me. Could put it on itemstands for decoration
Does it go on item stands? idk, I haven't used them much but it seems weird that some things cant be put on them
which biome yall think's next?
I'd guess Ocean, but could be Deep North
ig deep north
To be developed?
I think Deep North.
And then after Deep North, allegedly no more significant content updates
They should develop ocean before DN...
"Should"?
Why's that?
DN (dees nuts)
Rianu likes his oceans
Right now sailling is a chore
More importantly, boring too
AFAIK it's not the community who tells the devs what to develop. It's up to the devs to decide that.
The only thing the community can do is making requests.
Therefore, the right phrase would be: "They could develop ocean before Deep North".
actually we decide what they develop, they always ask me first.
Um i love sailing
"Should" as in "Ocean has been bare and mostly empty since the very beginning while all other biomes have their fair amount of content and it's very unfair considering ocean is an important part of the entire game and viking culture overall. Being the way it is right now just feels wrong"
is there no new atgeir in ashlands update
wow they added pretty much every weapon type for this update that's pretty sad
so i guess dagger, atgeir and buckler are missing
No daggers, no sledgehammer, no atgeir, no buckler
Weapon gaps are intended
and they still add spear every single update it's such a god awful weapon type lmao
The spear needs a buff
In the wrong hands.
And most people's hand are wrong considering they die to perfectly avoidable obstacles
I suggest giving a deflect function
Dodge into an attack and it avoids stagger and damage like a dodge but staggers them like a parry
Agreed but the spear is just so bad to me
what does a shit weapon type have anything to do with dying lmao, it's not about dying because of spears, it's that spears suck most of the time
unless the latest spear is very good despite the god awful stabby stab
Spear is fast and dmg/stamina efficient.
I never correlated them...
Spears can be useful, if you know how to use them. Such as parrying an enemy and immediately stab it due to fast and immediate attack speed
Most weapons depend on their combo, spear doesn't
i also never said it's never useful... and while i agree it "can" be useful all other weapon types are vastly superior to the spear in most circumstances
well i guess it's more because of valheim's vertical combat being stupid
exacerbated by the overhand stabby stab
Fair
There are still ways to improve them, but I definitely don't see them changing the animation
Yes. RIP
Aight bet down goes the 6th monster and off to fuckith myself
Rip dawg
spear is indeed not practical in Ashlands. many mobs there are resistant to pierce.
is it just me that my game is stuttering all the time when im exploring? my pc is strong thou.
even bows are unnecessary. all flying mobs will actively approach you.
been noticing this a bit as well, only in ashlands
in ashlands?
in starting area like meadow and black forest
that shouldn't happen... something is definitely wrong
i see, i guess that i have to verify files.
just making sure, you're exploring on foot right?
yeah
it's like when im exploring on foot, i get like micro stuttering when i discover or something. im not sure.
Yea normally that shouldn't happen, wouldn't be too surprising if happened while flying in debugmode in full speed, but sprinting around on foot? No...
i see. alright, much thanks for inputs
my lox has suicidal tendencies I swear
was being attacked by a small group of fulings and wasnt doing anything, almost died to them
It's rough when a 2 star knife fuling oneshots your lox
I found that enabling XMP really improved my stuttering in lots of games, memory running slow can have odd behavior like that.
When I used to have a lox pen, these dumb lizards broke the buried workbench preventing enemy spawns... and of course a gang of fulings spawned in. Their survival instinct is abysmal, but will to be free strong
oh i see, i will try that! ty
If it's a prebuilt or a laptop you probably can't change it, but if it's boutique or otherwise custom you probably can.
ah darn, its a laptop. but will check it anyway
to me, it seems that my ram memory is doing okay. 63% memory from task manager when playing valheim.
Valheim is like a dominatrix
You think you get get some pleasure from it, then it kicks you in the nuts
IMHO if you choose to be with a dominatrix you shouldn't complain about being kicked in the nuts either.
After all, you made that choice yourself to start with.

The best example of bad timing:
Reaching ground floor of the sealed tower just when nightfall starts, while not having any light source with you......
You start building something large, it starts raining. You start building the roof, rain is over
Kinda similar to sailing close to the Black Forest coast in the "evening" and it starts storming, smashing your boat at each and every rock hidden under water.
Just to enter the fog the moment you switch from the BF to the plains, so you can hit all those sand banks over there.
Hmmm, being at the bottom of the Sealed Tower and getting the 'you are being hunted" event......
Wonder if wolves are able to gnaw through the walls....
What makes you think they'd be able to attack through the walls
charred marksmen shooting their bows while swimming really?
Everything can attack underwater
Nothing new compared to skeletons and draugr.
Hey! My mouse scroll is broken. Is there another way to rotate buildings in the game? I couldn't find a way to change the scroll to keys in the keyboard and mouse settings. Can someone help me?
except you cant see them at all
Glowing metal ore may be obsolete, but at least let me still be able to smelt it.
Dang!
That fight took me an entire game-day.
What's the druid pole thing called that buffs the base? It can be in any meadows, right?
Maypole
Thanks
Is there a way to configure, on PC, to rotate buildings using the keyboard instead of the mouse scroll?
I wonder if Maple is derived from Maypole? 🤔
AutoHotKey
You got better luck asking in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202320491377856512 instead of repeating the same question multiple times over here.
Are you pissed?
they're just guiding you to the proper channels
I'm just kidding, bro. Calm down.
are you okay?
lol
you seem to be trying to agitate people
Calm down FinalBoss. Your post was very inflamatory.
if you say so
sarcasm
can't be helped if people are that bored this morning
absolutely unnecessary
After I beat The Queen, I'm never stepping foot into the Mistlands ever again.
it is an unpleasant biome :/
oh god is it that bad?? man im scared now
Pissed? No.
Just sad that no-one knows "Netiquette" anymore and that my theory about humanity is true. Unfortunately.
it's not difficult. it's just that.... you're forced to just react to whatever is attacking you, there's no sneaking up on creatures, they see you long before you see them
I've died 10x more in the Mistlands than all the previous biomes before it combined.
yeah i can imagine that happens a lot.. especially with the amount of fog
ok bro
quick question, can you copy worlds or buildings ? its ages age that i played valheim. sry for my english
but you know how can i rotater building whitout wheel?
for me it's the terrain.
I'm afraid you will have to, as some of the ingredients you find over there are used in the Ashlands as well.
with mods, you can™️
many things are possible with mods
I am a golden God!
#dedicated-server would be my best guess, folks there might be more familiar with mods
and #mods-discussion
thank you guys, have a good one. cant wait to get back into valheim after a long break
happy sailing
How long has that break been?
As there have been some changes over time.
I forgot you can't animation cancel to block. Annoying
im looking forward to the changes, i last played 3 years ago
if you only played near the time of launch, well... yeah
swamp got more things, mountain, 2 more biomes
In that case you got two new biomes to discover, one new NPC with her own side quests and some updates about fishing, cooking and several minor things.
just more content all around
good to hear
Oh and there's modifiers to make things easier. Or harder.
Better check those before doing the final creation of your world and entering it.
cant i use my old world ?
oh yeah i forgot about that. there's a lot more things you can control in the game, setting wise.
depends on how much you explored, it's recommended you just start a new save
Yes you can.
Can still change several settings before entering it.
As for your old world;
it all depends at what you have explored.
Mistlands (outer region), Ashlands (far south) and Deep North (Far north) have been changed either in preparation of the biome or as a complete overhauled biome.
So anything you explored over there may not generate properly.
Anything you build over there may actually collapse.
That would - imho - the best thing to do.
Can always "world-hop" to bring the goodies of your old world into the new one.
Can even start the old seed as a new world, if you like.
That's an interesting idea... 🤔
thank i will do that, it was very informativ
You're welcome.
Enjoy your game and remember:
Trees are lethal!
oh bro... sorry
you're beautiful and jesus love you
How do I kill the necks? I'm tired of dying 😦
i don't love you but u're a nice guy, i know
good sailing to all of you and may the gods watch over you. i will start a new journey and explore the unknown 🙂
may we see us again
With a weapon or even your fist.
Can use a bow if you don't like to get close to them.
Can use a spear, axe or club combined with a shield if you like to look them in the eye.
Just wait for them to almost hit you, then block and immediately swing your weapon.
Usually that's an instant kill.
pretty sure if you stare at them long enough, they lose HP
Blocking their attacks, eating food or making weapons all work well, they are the weakest enemies.
Might try to step at their tails too. The moment that breaks off they die.
friends, don't make fun of the new viking. they are on a journey, likely filled with many deaths. may the winds guide them
I didnt make fun of anyone, I was just listing some things to try to make killing the necks easier.
Oh, I know. I've been there. This game can be terrifying
you stated they are the weakest enemy, I disagree.
there's far weaker, sometimes it's other players
There's like 5 of them and they gang up on me
I kill 1 or 2 before I succumb to their numbers.
I feel that, they can be quite frustrating
You do know that running away isn't an act of cowardice, but an act of being smart?
Tactical retreat, they call it
So I have the new metal and piles of other things but I haven't unlocked the crafting for the new weapons and armor, what am I missing?
I tried but my yellow bar was gone
An upgrade to your black forge.
Its at 4 now, do I need to go higher?
its an act of not dying
That happens if you sprint, which happens when you press shift.
Don't do that for too long, but in intervals to make sure you gain distance.
After that, turn around and face only one of them monsters.
Are you using a shield?
What food are you eating and which weapon do you use?
Food is huge in this game
I ate a red berry
thats not nearly enough, also are you using your fists?
I'm afraid that's not enough.
You will need to eat 3 kinds of food to survive in this game.
Try to find mushroom and bee hives; which will give you some honey after you destroy them.
I had a stone axe, but it's gone. I'll make another.
hi sorry to disturb but any ideas why not responding appears?
you can also make a club, pretty sure its atack speed is higher than the axe's
just gotta keep waiting while it loads, might take 5 min. do not close it when not responding
thank you
theyve been broken since the last PTB update, pretty dissapointed that this version of the game was shipped to main
Got it, well hopefully that gets fixed soon
Thanks
I found a coin
Keep it.
You will use a lot of those later in the game to buy some special and very useful items.
And then gold will make fine decoration
Opinions. What do you guys prefer as your melee backup weapon for those who go full eitr/mage build?
mage?
shhhh, much later in the game
why cant you jump or walk up stuff when youre in ashlands water? man, this feels so clunky
A 1 or 2 handed sword is nice. Althuogh I'm partial to fast attack weapons like knives/||dual axes||
Because you can never jump while in water
yes you can, when your on the edge of land or at stairs. like honestly you think i made it this far in the game without knowing that?
depends on what i'm going up against and what i need.
slash = knives/atgeir(alternate attack)
blunt = maces
pierce = bow
I haven't experienced any wonkiness with Ashlands water myself, but it sounds weird
currently im using the ||krom|| but I wanted to do something quick like you suggested, such as the ||dual axes||. I also dont run with a shield so 2h seems to be the route
ill be on the edge of land/water or stairs and instead of the normal jump mechanic or walking mechanic its just swim and ill be swimming along land i should be walking on or just unable to jump. and hitboxes on the ruined structures seem to protrude beyond their model
Not much need for a shield when you have ||bubble staff||
Personally though I prefer going partial mage partial melee, slotting in a stamina or maybe even a stamina and a hp food
Im running ||bubble shield|| full eitr armor and 2 eitr food with 1 stam food. Think Ill go with the ||axes||. all my skill is in sword though 😦
You will be able to use them later.
And need to press [E] to pick them up.
Yes I picked it up, just can't seem to consume it like a berry
I have this guy throwing rocks at me now
as theyve said, its not a food but it used for other stuff. all items have a use
I'm splitting my skill up between knife/spear/axe/sword/mace/fists. We'll see how high I get them
Can you max it all?
Is there a mod that tones down the rain to not be so frequent?
... whats wrong with the rain?
... there's too much of it
Maxing all your skills will either take a very long time or a very short time. Depending whether or not you decide to use dev-commands.
good job
Gonna be tough for me to max skills, but it's possible. Very grindy
True what do you recommend for a 2hand weapon tho
my skills are back to 0 after Ashlands
Mistlands tier
Mistlands did it for me and is still doing it.
I killed the necks
I mean atgeir is bustedly good, especially himmin afl.
But Krom is also nice for jumping heavy attacks
Mistlands is like a vacation after Ashlands hah
Is the terrain as bad?
I personally never use bows or atgeirs
no, terrain is fairly flat (minus the lava)
Is ashlands foggy?
the terrain is what's killing me in Mistlands
I hate the mistlands mist, I hate it
no, you can see in Ash
At night Ashlands is super dark, but otherwise it's good
Old Mistlands teased us of huge spiders. I would have preferred big spiders.
Mistlands is my favorite biome
I just randomly died??
That's impossible.
You only die when the damage you get is more as the health you have.
Is it night?
I don't think so
A skeleton archer could've shot you if it was
I didn't see any monsters. Just gathering wood.
But there are a lot of things that can kill you, of which you didn't know they can.
Did the tree hit you?
a falling tree can kill you
Trees kill you?
if it falls on you, ya
If they hit you
Trees are the real first boss, they do a lot of damage
lol
I guess maybe that was it
jumping, running, building a 2nd floor, anything can kill you in valheim
IRL, logging is the world's deadliest job
Not wearing a warm fur pelt when its cold out can kill ya
My first death was caused by the first tree I chopped
Hypothermia
Its over fellas
I've gotten lost in my immersive run. Should i continue and take as long as fkcin Odysseus or just remove the immersive settings?
What is immersive?
You haven't used the yggdrassil for reference?
no map
No map, no portals and builds can be set on fire
skill issue. I was using small lighthouses for sea navigation
Yggdrassil can help you find spawn. Does that help?
It does?
immersive is defined differently to me. No map no portal is masochism.
I haven't found a portal
You will need to build those yourself.
No map is alright, i saw someone drawing the map themselves and decided to take on the idea. We'll see how much pain no portal is later down the line
When the only transportation is foot or boat, there will be pain.
I don't remember who was saying they were having trouble finding Bonemaw serpents, but all I can say is come drop into my world. THREE have spawned right at the site where I landed my Drakkar and have been building an outpost on the shores of the ashlands, lol
yeah one spawns on me every couple minutes. i have so much bonemaw meat
Hopefully we will get recipes for it in the near future
@livid widget You may consider looking into this guide here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2815110130 to help you play and understand a bit about the game.
This sounds awful
This is still orders of magnitude better than hardcore believe me lol
ok
it is. I love it and hate it
No portals/map really changes up some exploring and looting strategies
I guess for those not liking sailing, playing without portals would be some real torture.
man decided to draw the map himself, respect
when starting out it's not so bad, but I wouldn't want to go all the way to Ashlands, or even Deep North without portals available.
So I've heard that the boss spawn locations may have moved after the update. Is that just for the ones we haven't visited yet?
I didn't know those were affected. Wasn't the update all about the new biome?
yup
It changed Ashlands/Deep North terrain generation which messed with the rest of the map too
I've seen people being more oblivious on much more obvious stuff in this game so yes, anyone could think that
Good thing I put a portal at all my infested mines. I gotta go find the Queen again.
Oh wait, deep north too? Did it make them smaller?
Does anyone ever incorporate building when fighting monsters? I feel like it’s such a overlooked advantage in combat to just build a bunch of spikes and platforms to defend yourself
Think so. They disconnected DN from any landmasses iirc
Ah
Think I once saw someone reach Plains or Mistlands before realizing they could eat more than one food
Deep North got the same "treatment" as Ashlands does. No more land connections.
Meaning any boss location close to it has moved to another location.
That would certainly win the medal
That's really cool, they remind me of ancient maps the way they're shaped with the update. Kinda wondering what a paper map would look like now
Most likely with a lots of crumbles....
Something tells me that was intentional and they plan on doing giving the same treatment ashlands did. Maybe only accesible by ship or something else
I hope for icebreaker ship
Another tree just killed me. I see now. How do you know which direction it will fall?
Nah, we will get beans in the Deep North, making Moder Power completely useless once we're able to cook a meal of boar meat, onion and beans......
theyre pretty slow you should be able to get out of the way fine
Although it kind of seems like it knocked another one down and that's the one that got me
You watch what they do and then decide to run to either the left or the right.
Never run in the oposite direction you were facing when you cut it down.
Can't cut the white ones
Let me rephrase that:
If the tree falls to the left, you run to the right.
If the tree falls to the right, you run to the left.
If the tree falls towards you, you run to either the left or the right.
If the tree falls away from you, you can remain where you are, but keep in mind that you still need to run away if it hits another tree.
White ones (birch) can be cut with an axe you can craft when entering another biome after defeating the boss of the meadows.
That's obvious enough I just wasn't sure if it always fell in a certain direction, but sounds as though it's random
Need to get a better axe
If it was that obvious, not a single player would've been killed by a fallen tree.
Right now, I think about every player have had that happening to them at least once.
The main trick is to make sure you have a food active
No tree does that much damage on its own
They are very dangerous without armor
Chopping trees in the nude is not recommended for obvious reasons, lol
any command to show frostcaves on my world?
Valheim map generator does that.
ty all for help
do we know whats coming after the deep north?
Some bug fixes and eventually Valheim 1.0 build.
anyone experience server lags after last update? almost unplayable
Does anyone want to join me in looking for more mistlands then ashlands. I'm geared up but need to explore more. There's no dverger things at the place I've been to and never seen one so if you want to join my world let me know.
Does "Attack Stamina usage -20%" on the Ask leather armor apply to bows too?
and what does 10% pierce on an armor mean?
Any tips for taming Askvin? We caught two and fed them vineberries and they aren’t starting to tame
We’ve done all the usual stuff for other animals
hate from the uk ‼️ ‼️‼️
Probably
You deal higher pierce dmg
There was a point I believed the devs played their own game but
||what is the point of the new boss power, especially with the new portal||
Most likely making mining ores and transporting them to a central base a lot easier.
it's the worst one yet
Nah def not the worst
yeah but overweight never stops you
I think Elder power is much worse.
The carry weight can give a bit of convenience, but the movement is the main use imo. Movement in this game is key, and getting a 10% buff ain't bad
||and just plop the new portal next to you||
something like yag is way way worse
Hello, people. Can I trade with someone for 5 sealbreaker fragments? I'm ready to buy them with gold and jewels
If you need them that desperately without going to look for them in an infested mine, you might as well use dev-commands to spawn them.
I looked through 3 infested mines, checked all the hidden doors and wall-doors and every crack and didn't find any. Also, I don't wanna use cheat codes
yagluth’s power has 0 use cases
||the new power is just worse eikhtyr. teleporter is invented shrug||
damn the ashland agro and massive spawning ennemies is boring when playing solo
it’s better eikthyr cuz it actually makes you faster
for what purpose? give me a use case that would be relevant
running literally anywhere
yeah, eikhtyr is better for that
nope, rather have speed
you get the speed by not having to stop for regen
I guess you were just unlucky.
Took me 14 mines before I even found a vegvisir to the queen and I just got enough sealbreaker items after that.
But they're there, so I'd say, "just keep looking."
you really don’t have to stop anyway
Man
you got flat Mistlands somewhere?
through 600 hours of gameplay i never thought man i wish i was 10% faster
not what he meant
it’s useful when running around in your base which is the only use case in which it’s worth taking bonemass off
Is valheim peer to peer or something in multiplayer?
and bonemass is just a must, it cant be supplemented
I have a perfect connection to the server, until someone else is near me, then it goes to crap
supplemented/replaced whatever
Netcode garbage?
is atgeir a good weapon
Can braziers sneak attack? Just had a mob in another room of a geirhaffa (frost cave) cave get sneak attacked and take a 2dmg/sec DOT
brokenly good with it's secondary attack yea
is better to use frostner or atgeir
Yes, it can happen. I've seen it too, when they're aware of you they start walking around and walk into a brazier.
Everything that deals dmg can sneak attack. Only other condition is essentially for the creature to not be alerted
Sharp stakes can sneak attack as well
Hm, just never seen it sneak attack them. I guess bc they’re usually agroed on me
Well that’s not quite true
I’ve never gotten a sneak attack with embers or ice staff
Oh well, that's true. Everything except staves
very good against groups through the majority of the game. disappointing in the ashlands cuz everything and their mother is resistant to pierce
Still good in Ashlands.|| Himmin Afl does some lightning damage and the secondary attack is still super powerful, especially with the endless hordes of mobs||
I'd imagine ashland is going to be painful start for magic users... the best direct damage spell isn't effective and a bit doubtful about how effective those bone bois are going to be when they're outnumbered...
Naw Magic regins supreme in Ashlands. Embers does surprisingly well, and Ice staff is even more OP than usual
Bone bois still are good distractions. Surprisingly good if used right
wait it's actually good there? In Mistland it seems only good when enemy is wet
while ember is just good all the time
it slows down the enemies
yea but that doesn't kill them...
Ice staff was great in Mistlands too. Impossible to lose a 1v1, great damage, and does okay at crowd control too
when you're ranged and mobile it hardly matters how fast they move
I think most ppl just see ice staff as bad because Embers is even more broken in mistlands
In mistlands there's only a small damage difference between frost and embers
Unfortunately being a mage in Valheim is still not worth it unless you go down a biome.
Mistland and Ashlands are literally too dangerous to be a mage even if you go HP-Eitr-Etir
Bubble burst and you can just die instantly.
They really need to buff the protection bubble imo
uhh...?
I've gone mage main and I've had easier time than I had with Atgeir I've been using for hundreds of hours
despite of having low level skills
quite the hot take
I think the dverger rouges are a bit stupid they like to run into the lava and die
I've been a mage in Mistands for a year and with the feather cape its quite fun but you are still a glass cannon with the staff of embers, I understand that
Still death is instant if get caught out once
Yeah but you don't get caught out much because you're ranged and can just spam the shield. Also if you are worried about being squishy just eat a hp food or use root harnesk or something
trying to be an mage in Ashlands is a death sentence
mage is way easier in ashlands lmao?
Spamming protection bubble takes time and one arrow is all it takes
just kite
The thing is, when you have skelly bois AND shield, you're really hard for enemies to kill
If you die to one arrow then that's probably the problem, you're using the wrong setup
Personally I really like the melee/mage hybrid playstyle, but just going full mage is prob stronger
you either choose HP or Stamina or not enough Eitr to be effective
for killing those soldiers, noticed that having skellies with shield distract it is really damn effective. and if it aggroes you your skellies going for that weak spot instead, which is also a win
Sounds like mage just isn't your playstyle. I do great with like fenris armor, 1 stamina 2 eitr, maybe a carapace helmet and askvin cape
Your range, frost damage, and movement speed makes it impossible for enemies to hit you frequently enough to be hitting you when your bubble is down (which it won't often be)
as I said, I've been a mage for over a year in Mistlands and it works fine if you're careful so that's bs
I've been a mage for 2 weeks yet mistland has become a rather easy biome for me...
just don't f up 5 times in a row and you'll be fine, be prepared... you can make multiple mistakes in a row as long as you're prepared
I really think it's just playstyle, hearing from what you're struggling with.
Which is fine. Personally I struggle with full melee in Ashlands (granted it's also on Hard mode and I don't use atgeir, but yea it's tough for me)
maybe you just don't play enough to get unlucky xD
I got pushed by an ashkin into lava and my bubble burst and instantly died.
Give it time, you will see how shit mage is lol
such as having the skelly bois with shields ready before combat. if you aggro too many enemies you can just use them as distraction and easily run away
but vast majority of the time don't have to
sounds like there's one person here that doesn't have enough mage playtime and it's not us
its definitely not me. I guarantee I have than you both combine by the sounds of it
yet you're here the one struggling, apparently...
I never said I was struggling...you seem to hear what you want
idk, think I have like 40-50 hours in Ashlands. And some of that was back when spawn rates were really high in beta
idk about that dawg
I said too dangerous a risk considering how brutal the game can be
yeah, that doesn't sound like "I'm struggling" do you even speak English?
That’s rude
that's not even the onl comment...
considering that none of us view it as a death sentence even in the slightest, yes. that does read as "i struggle on mage." very obviously so
another example right there, sounds like a lot of struggling
tbh I don't think it's a playtime issue
But I guess we can all just accept that not everyone likes the same playstyles
that's because you probably don't play enough to experience the risk in comparison
Ngl, the biggest complaint I'd have for mage in Mistland is that the bone bois have to be re-summoned rather often due to various reasons. It gets a bit annoying
Not because they died, but because can't follow me
I think a fair solution would be either making them teleport to you when they become unable to reach you, or allow re-summoning them for lower cost depending on % of HP left. At 100% cost some low base cost, at 1% HP would be 99% of the normal spell cost + the base cost (for re-summoning)
IMO mage isn't as good as melee, since parrying is so rewarded in Valheim
well, in this case I was testing out 2 Eitr 1 Stamina and the blood sword to see how much dmg it did at low health since blood magic can help with that and my bubble last all of 2sec...
so bad test lol
mages don't need to parry though. As long as you have enough eitr you kill most things before they even get in melee range.
you can still parry just fine. with a shield you can parry anything... just very risky
The bigger problem is lack of stagger on magic
mage can be good if you use it as range and are fast, there are plenty of builds that work but..its still way more dangerous
staggering is basically same as parrying, just better since you do not have to risk getting hit
you can stagger with ember, but a lot of enemies die before you can stagger it, or gets staggered just before dying
my elemental is 65 and blood 35 rn
There's only one situation in the entire game where mage felt better than melee to me, and that was using Trollstav in Charred Fortresses
eh, magic felt really damn good when I entered a mine and instantly got swarmed by many bugs. Roasted them real good with that AoE
does anyone know if there is some condition for 2 star asksvins to spawn?
like that they only spawn at night or something
mines and fuling camps staff of embers is OP
2-star asksvin do indeed only spawn at night.
okay thank you
I just started taming my first ever 2 star wolf 😄
That said I'm not a fan of the taming system and doubt I will finish taming this guy
btw, the new roof piece is easier to mass produce then tar, I hope?
Also do Fenring always howl when they aggro? Faced two in a row and killed both of them before they finished howling, mates take long
thankfully... that should help quite a bit
only takes grausten iirc.
still like the look of dark wood beams tho, but at least can get a lot of tar back replacing roofs later with the new stuff
They do, yeah. I don't even know what attacks they have lol.
I spent hours trying to ignore a star boar and tame it, piggie got greydwarfed as soon as I got up to go to the bathroom
rip. always protect them when you find a good one
raising the ground would be good way to do that
Yeah I was so busy building the home
next time I will focus on the pen more
raised ground is a good idea
I have also done underground
is there a way to report bugs/issues? the ashen cape constantly clips through the front of the player after a lot of combat movements
It doesn't really matter as long as it's roofed by the time you unlock flying raids. If they don't have line of sight enemies won't aggro on your pets.
I think one of my friends may have lied to me
If they do not target them through the fence
they do through round pole fences (because those don't block line of sight). They don't through solid walls like palisade walls though.
Oh okay good
what item needed to unlock ashlands cauldron upgrade? i've only landed on the coast for now
flametal is the big one. And some common stuff you'll likely pick up just by exploring, ashwood and charred bones i think?
ok cool. tsk its quite difficult to venture deeper in
5 flametal also gets you the first black forge upgrade. Upgrading your Mistland gear to level 4 makes getting a foothold a little easier.
Does the flametal rocks randomly spawn or they set in place.
Aren’t enemies that spawned at night supposed to despawn when you sleep?
Depends on the enemy
Oh okay
Yes, but only if they’re exclusive to night or part of an increased spawn limit
i was playing in my world when i noticed the mob don't have ia they just stay in place and when i touch it it's start gliding until he was stop by something and also i can enter anymore in temples so if someone know what to do about that i really want to know
Don’t think exclusive to night matters
For example earlier I had 3 wolves and a fenring roll up on me at night. At dawn the wolves despawned but fenring didn’t
I got an invasion as I’m preparing to recover my body 😡
Wiki says they should despawn. Was it trying to attack you at dawn?
Which one?
Horde
Yea it was aggroed on me. And once the day counter popped up the wolves despawned but I kept fighting the fenring for a good 20-25 sec before killing it
They will prioritize me first right not my builds?
If you’re close ish to them yea
Some builds like beehives will be prioritised if you’re too far
They emoted on me
Should’ve emoted on them first
Yay horde is retreating but I haven’t killed a single enemy
What killed you?
They have multiple times 😂
Morgen in Ashlands
Oh crap, my bad
You’re good
Have you skipped any bosses? You shouldn’t be getting fuling raids.
No
I only have the Ashlands boss left
what is the best weapon to craft with dark metal?
The polearm is very good. Did you make a frostner in mountains? If so, keep it for the boss and the next biome.
The boss is pierce resistant so make sure you have at least one weapon that doesn’t do pierce damage. Silver sword and frostner are great because of spirit damage
so i should keep my frostner?
Yes. It’s very strong against some mistlands enemies, better than black metal because of the frost damage.
okay thanks
And the spirit damage allows it to do more damage than black metal against yagluth
Yeah frostner really only gets replaced by mistwalker later on in mistlands and into ashlands
Frostner is still pretty good in Ashlands because of the knock back
And while I haven't really tried it I suspect .... Yeah I was thinking that
I also haven't checked if charred and Morgen are vulnerable to blunt
hello valhiem chat'
Hello
i am starting my hunt for yagluths vegvisir
That’s good did you have a question or need tips or something?
nah i just come here to talk n stuff
Alright
Don't bother, sail around and look for the giant bone hand
yeah thats probably a better idea
The vegvisir are literally harder to find in Plains than just finding the boss spawn
They’re not. I don’t think any enemy in Ashlands is weak to physical damage
lava blobs are weak to blunt i think?
Is there a specific place to see what changes they made from ptb to normal server?
how do you sail against the wind
you dont
You paddle or you tack.
Or - after defeating the 4th boss - use a special power.
Good evening, someone have maybe start some multyplayer server?
