2.25 xp per primary attack landed and 1.5 xp per secondary, compared to 1.5 xp on all other weapons. It is indeed intentional, for some reason

only thing faster to level would be bows, considering the ludicrous attack speed available when you don't draw the bow back 🙂

No, floors are not roofs. Roof pieces count as roof, and any stone piece also gives shelter when you get that far. Diagonal pieces give shelter when you are just in the right spot underneath them.

You don't really need to venture into the mists to do anything other than queen in Mistlands, when it comes down to it. Mines/Dverger are all super common on coastlines if you're just sailing around

By the time I finally got arouond to doing Yag, I already had a staff of protecetion levelled to like 35 or 40

the holes probably aren't large enough to fully ventilate. Try building a chimney over your fire and top it with a single 45 degree angle roof piece to keep the water out. That should do it

You can get that soft tissue from the Dverger docks really easily. Push the rogues into the water, then take your knife out and stunlock the one mage left inside. The rogues will then be easy to pick off afterwards whiel in the water. You can get surprisingly good yields of soft tissue this way

there is more in the Dverger towers, of course. Try luring Gjall/Soldiers over to the coastal towers and let them do the work for you. Its enough to get your basic mistlands gear prior to Yag

I actually did see someone trap one and use it for a tick farm, so it is surprisingly doable. Giving it access to shoot without being able to escape sounds like the tough thing tho

I think the cage worked bc it enclosed the gjall on the sides and bottom with earth walls, and then put marble on top to hold it in place. Don’t think they can shoot upwards

Gotcha. Well, the thing with Valheim is there is limited "content" in general. I've got 1200 hours in the current game. There's plenty of gameplay to be had through the Mistlands, and within the next 3 months or so the Ashlands content update will be released, so depending on what state your game is in it might be a great time to start a new playthough to get to the appropriate game level before it drops.

Now I finally understood the reason why there arent bears in valheim. It’s not realistic that you could kill one. They are too big and strong. No way you could beat one.

That's how Valheim works. There are no official servers, all servers are run by individuals even if they're publicly listed. You can find groups in #1024264966712340510 , but the game has virtually no hack or cheat protection and is designed to be played with trusted people. This isn't an MMO survival game like many others.

I'm saying that more for your benefit because other people can and do, and we've had stories of people getting their gear taken and worlds destroyed by letting unvetted players play with them. Everyone can "cheat" easily with access to the console, you can spawn in whatever you want, change world settings, etc.

Sometimes it turns the affected area into a mini-incline, but sometimes it is just pounding the ground for no effect

you can also repair said walls with said hammer, again for free, just by clicking when hovering on the build piece

It levels the ground to the best of its ability, but only if its slightly unlevel already. If there's a big difference between where the terrain is at and where you want it to be at, you're gonna have to raise ground with the hoe or pull out a pickaxe

also mmb deconstruct doesn't work on boats, you have to smash them down with a weapon

you should also be able to repair all the structures you find in the wild, or deconstruct them for the mats

this is extremely useful first off when yr chopping skill isn't great yet but you need wood fast

Our major warehouses is yes, mainly because it was a big empty space with no enemies. We had issues with other npcs enemies like fullings and stuff spawning in the warehouse and going to town. So Ashlands being unfinished made it a perfect spot for our massive warehouse of materials to help those who seek out services

Iinstead of raising the ground, it's generally easier to just use one of the multitude of unbreakable trees and just put it on a platform up there. Then you only have to worry about wraiths at night.

it's no temporary location, it's permanent. I've started preparing my running course for geysers. So far only 5, but it's enough to keep those smelters fed

what I do is build a portal to the start, then flatten and clear a path to make it clear what is the quickest path to take between geysers that are near each other, then portals to connect to the next location with more geysers.

it takes me more stone to make a clear path than raising the ground for portals. (only do it when flatten doesn't raise the ground above water)

ideally I'd chain together around 10 geysers so I'll have enough coal to fuel more smelters 24/7 if I just keep running the course

It can be, yes. Won't help a ton against serpents, though 😛 That said, personally I don't build heavy armor until the Mountains or sometimes even the Plains in my playthroughs. Not getting hit by being able to move better is even better than being able to tank hits IMO.

I would suggest not. Tower shields can be good in dungeons sometimes, but in the overworld they limit your movement a ton and generally leave you more vulnerable to being cornered and trapped.

I'd say the movement speed is the biggest downside. They lack the ability to parry as well, meaning you won't be able to stagger enemies, but you can use dodge rolling to make up for that to help close the gap or retreat a bit.

I think my main issue is just that there's a good amount of enemies I can't parry, and they can 1 or 2 shot me. So if I stand still for too long I'm just dead and lose all my gear and skills

And like especially if there's multiple enemies, I might be able to juke a hit from one or two and then go in and get a hit on them, but if there's 3+ there's no way I'm gonna be able to hit them with something like a sword or mace without getting hit myself

I think it might be a replacement of the movement vector rather than in addition to, kinda like unequipping a weapon stops your movement. But I'm not 100% on that. Not many things are additive in this game in my experience.

Dedicated servers not using Crossplay don't have anything to do with anything centralized, except the server listings. The only issues there are typically network between you and the server, somewhere in that communication chain. Doesn't go through any kind of company server for that.

That's how I'm doing it right now until I find more mines and cores. Gotta get the key pieces anyway, may as well just do it that way so I can get the gear sooner. Just run the refinery until my durability is nearly gone, then break it down and build the galdr table or the forge, repair my stuff. I actually keep a chest by where I keep the refinery so I can store the other pieces of it there, and just bring the cores into where I need to build the work stations, and do the same thing with them, keep the pieces in a dedicated plain wood chest

a matter of economical choice really. banded uses more iron, but its a better all rounder shield, buckler is really only good if you are going for stealth builds, it doesnt stamina drain as hard, or make a lot of noise

I’d never make an iron buckler. My only death in mountains came from parrying wolves while hunted. I ran out of stamina very fast. Banded shield can parry everything you need it to, and also blocks very well.

I've got 1200 hours in this game with zero mods. Just go make a new base, build it up slowly. Once you start conquering the Black Forest you will get materials to make portals which make everything easier.

You can always go back and get to them. My boar farm is half the world away from my main base of operations. There are also more boars to tame as well. Embrace exploration, and leaving things behind somewhat 😉

A 5 minute sailing journey is nothing, especially as you will get better boats and such with black forest materials as well. The one thing I would caution is to see if you can land in nearby Meadows and not directly in the Black Forest.

You may also find that if you haven't fully just explored your island on foot you will likely have Black Forest accessible over land.

Could still pick it up, move to the rudder and sail to your homebase dock without having to worry about stamina.

As soon as you're there, drop some of the items until you're at your maximum carrying weight again.
You will always throw items in the direction you're facing, so when facing the dock or the shore, they should be available for picking up later.

Prepare for everything! Always have backup materials or even gear to make sure you can get back to where you die, maybe even set up an outpost once in a while to have a foothold in an area. Or wing it and see if you succeed (tbh that's what I do bc I get impatient, but it's very punishing if you mess up)

boar meat is useful even in plains. No need to waste all the hard to get food eating it 24/7 when you have have tasty totally not sus sausages that are relatively easy to mass produce, yet still pretty good food
