Torches work, as do most other light sources, as well as crafting stations, beds and a few other items. They're collectively referred to as player base items and prevents spawn in a 20m radius around the, as well as being checked for when the game checks if an event should start or not.

There's no way to see which items that are player base items in-game, unfortunately.

sooo - I did a full debian system upgrade to the newest Testing (trixie) - Valheim still has no sound. Launching Valheim while forcing Proton 8.0 as compatibility tool (which is stupid because Valheim comes with a native linux client) brings back the sound. However, audio is glitchy so that it crackles when moving the mouse

Haven't played grounded so I can't say anything about it, but IMO Enshrouded has better building (though it's a bummer there's no gravity mechanic so it's really more like painting a building than building one, but it's still really satisfying how modular it all is) while Valheim has way better combat. Honestly though, they're both worth playing

So Valheim does have boss battles, a lot of unique enemies, and a randomly generated world. It’s different in that the linear progression is tied to biomes, so you go from one biome to the next. The ‘quests’ are basically just seeking the next boss. Keep in mind, although there are a lot of weapon options, it’s all pretty martial for the most part. Sword, bows, axes, that kinda thing.

Valheim is also alot more open ended and lends itself to challenges better. If you were determined and stupid enough, you could build a raft almost right away and sail straight to the endgame, but Enshrouded locks most of itself away behind instakill mist that you have to progress across a linear-ish line to make some of it not instakill, and most crafting upgrades have to be gotten from a specific spot. As opposed to Valheim where half the boss trophies are in my chests at home because I keep forgetting to bring them to the shrine, lol

Swamp is medium difficulty, don't wander there until you defeat elder cuz its very easy to die there, mountain is the snow that is difficult, plains is the most difficult biome of all, well still being the most blank of all the biomes, mistlands are the most gameplay advanced biome, being hard as swamps

Well, world render radius is about 300-500m, so even peeking into the Ashlands will render a large area unable to be updated properly. Nevermind the buildings you've already done in the DN.

For this case I would suggest asking in #mods-discussion for a forced biome updater - keep in mind the risks of using it, but it should allow you to keep using the same world once the biome updates roll around.

Otherwise, yeah, a server reset would probably be warranted.

You should be able to pretty easily use core wood poles to make a tall enough building to suit your needs. If you're going to add iron poles you'll want to make sure they're attached to either the ground or stone.
