At least now you can set you world to allow ores, if its really that bad for you. I long enjoyed the challenges of figuring out the best way to get stuff home, but after 4,000 hours of playing, I decided to go easy on myself.

Yeah, probably the biggest reason I have to rate Valheim as my all time favorite game. Only one I have put this many hours into, without mods. Only one even kind of close is Stellaris.

Only one I have more hours into is Skyrim, and I have played that with mods since about the 100 hour mark. Plus I have been playing it on and off, since 2012.

As for connectivity issues, I am pretty sure our server disconnects have been due to problems on the Steam platform itself. Fortunately it has not happened often. Maybe once every 20 to 30 hours of playing.

They are the server host, so yeah, they are.

Anything that at the moment of your death has blue background symbolizing it is equiped 🙂 basically armor + cape, weapon + shield you have in hand, accessory and arrows. Everything else will drop like normal.

My love/hate with the dying is because I actually get my skills pretty high, even maxxed out. So I get to the point where I suffer the maximum losses. 😭

So losing skill when your in the 20's and 30's is an entirely different kind of pain to losing them when your in your 90's. The higher the skill, the longer it takes you to regain those points.

Exp loss can be adjusted from death penalty setting, but not remove without using setkey command (it's 1% at the 2 easiest setting options).

Yeah, I know. Its just that I still play mostly by the defaults. The only thing we have made easier on ourselves is we enabled taking ore through portals. We have not set anything to harder settings, either.

I kept the setting on easier when I played during PTB Ashlands. I didn't want to lose the elemental magic skill level I worked so hard for during it due to Fracturing staff granting much more xp so I leveled it to 100 rather quickly during it.

Xp gain from that staff has been fixed tho.

Mistlands was the last PTB I participated in. I just waited for them to finish before I tried out the Ashlands content.

The purpose of it is that they don't stop spawning. So you're doing it right.
But if you mean that due to the spawning you can't harvest the materials, simply place a workbench there, harvest the materials after they're all dead and remove the workbench after that.

Workbenches suppress the spawn mechanics, so it's a good "tool" to do that temporary.

I just dig a pit under the spawner. It ensures they all fall in, etc...

Once you get that initial hole deep enough, they cannot hit you, so you can dig the rest out easily enough. Some will still drop in on you, but that is easy to handle as well.

pickup everything you see and always check inventory tab / available hammer construction / workbench crafting list for new things to pop up, if you listen carefully to the raven you should get after first boss no problem (wiki and guides are handy but blind first experience is priceless imo)

(also some loading screen tips are very useful if you start from absolute zero)

only thing that's not very thaught by the raven from start is the very important rested bonus, just try and sit by a fire for some time and see what happens >> again the raven icon in your inventory tab will come in handy, will explain in detail all your active buffs (icons that pop up in the top right corner of screen)

I just do one and move it around as needed. I also surround them with a mini black marble fortress. It cuts way down on seekers breaking them down, and gives me safer locations to fight them from, especially when I get the starred spawns.

Might have been a way to give the mobs a “memory” of sound without literally storing a location in the program for each mob able to hear you, but the side effects are that you can be spotted way after producing the noise (25sec is still a lot in a video game)

Also, noise doesent make enemies alerted (have the red ! above them). So it still takes a good while for them to actually get to your location and you are usually gone by the time all of them even get close. 🙂

You can find the first hint from putrid holes (they sometimes contain vegvisir that points to a mysterious location) and 2 of the locations have vegvisir to the next location (3rd has dungeon entrance which doesn't contain vegvisir tho).
