Ultar is pretty much Grima but with an extra member (so they were suporting themselves and playing two gigs), playing a different style of black metal - more over in post black land. They're playing in Stockholm on Tuesday and then some shows in Finland after that so if you're in that area go see them.

I see it as, a lot of artists split from bands for an infinite amount of reasons. It often gives artists opportunities to come up with their own styles and further contribute to humanity's ever growing collection of music. We wouldn't have all those great Ozzy albums, or have Megadeth for example, without this happening. Maybe she will start a new supergroup? Who knows?

I find it mildly fascinating that the best Katatonia album has a guest vocalist in Mikael Åkerfelt who probably does his best vocal performance on this album and not on his own bands' albums (and he does a very very good job on those).
Apparently Blakkheim has been talking about doing stuff in the vein of early Katatonia again, and with him leaving Katatonia this year maybe a new band will pop up and do this kind of music again. Yes please.
