Many say new magic stuff makes it easier.

Depends on what build you are using.
I for one would go with mage, make sure you have the staff of the wild, staff of protection, trollstav and another dmg staff.
Use trollstav or even dead raiser to provide distractions.
Staff of the wild to keep other mobs at bay and even toss them on fader.
Staff of protection to have a I can get hit by whatever at least once free card.
The other damaging staff to do more direct damage while fader is on the move or you want to discard mobs directly instead of relying on vines and kiting them around them if needed.

I prefer close combat so Jade weapons (Primal Berserkir Axes) are good, the rooting effect also works on bosses.

I have tried the axes but don’t like them that much, there are some enemies they’re good for but they’re too situational for me to consider them an actually good weapon.

it's a crossbow, it depends on what you're using it for.
better damage per bolt (and thus really good for backstab shots)
but lower dps, especially at higher levels

I have built things with 80k+ instances, but because I didnt use pieces like "fire sources/lights" or any chests with things in it, my fps barely drops.

Hi guys. I'm new. I have played 1700+ hours of Valheim on PC.

I used to really love it, but my experience was soured, as I will explain shortly.

Admittedly, I haven't played it all that much at all since Ashlands DLC dropped. My friend's and I play on a private server. And, I lost my best armour set and weapons in the Ashlands, not long after my first visit.

As previously stated, my friend's and I played Valheim together a lot. However, our collective experience has been ruined ever since we attacked a tower in the Plains, and killed the bosses there and got our 'poultry reward' (chicken egg).

Can you please write something into the lore of the game, so that we can prevent the world event 'They Were Bro's, Man' from ever (expletive) happening again?

Our shared world is purely for exploration and building.
We have a separate world for eliminating bosses.
We have never cheated, nor introduced anything to make the game easier for ourselves. But, our collective experience on the main world has been destroyed due to this nuisance hindrance.

Would it please be possible to look again at world events, specifically?
I have built a huge complex beset with inner palisade walls, moats and outer walls, only for enemies to spawn inside my (expletive) farm, ruin all the crops i just planted (1000+) and slaughter all the animals (i irritatingly transported over multitudinous oceans and arctic tundra) 😒 .

So, as much as I have thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience, these world events have caused me nothing but heartache.

I'm not sure why we can't, but the world modifiers don't change anything on our server world- maybe its on the server side but we copied the world, edited it with the world modifiers, re-uploaded to the server, only for nothing to have changed.
That's really why I want Irongate to write something into the game-lore that allows for some (magical) reason that the world event no longer ruins our game.

Just turn off raids if all you want to do is build an explore. It's not cheating it's an option in the game and if you have that many hours into the game turning off raids on one private server is not going to do anything but help you enjoy the game.

Also for future reference on losing gear there are people who do rescue groups for folks who have lost their bodies.

We've spent approximately 1500+ hours in that server world. We've built complexes out-to-sea, Ewok inspired tree-house settlements in the swamps. Levelled an entire Blackforest, and left behind huge grotesque craters (pillaging stone & wood for our many constructions) renaming it 'Deforestation Woods'.

I adore the land we have crafted using the tools you bestowed upon us.... I don't relish the thought of starting a new world 😄

It's already possible to do that by placing player base pieces although the one I thought would encourage it even more and make it much easier. Probably the disadvantage would be that no enemies = no drops so if you need stuff you might need to not extend your safe area excessively

For this exact reason I try to be judicious about how I take ground by spawn proofing in Ashlands. I do it around the beachhead and captured fortresses and charred ruins I want to harvest from and selected travel corridors only.

Well, you could always explain what you mean. The camps are instanced in exactly the same way internally, they are the source (primarily) of both the biome's ore and the two main crops and the mobs don't spawn exactly the way they don't in other biomes.

On one side, I personally view the plains as the ‘upgraded meadow’ in a sense where it’s relatively calm place to build a reliable base. It has good soil for lots of crops, utilizes windmills for flour- which is pretty important for all biomes plains onwards, and the enemies are generally easy to manage. Music is calming, weather is nice, and it’s flat enough to see threats.

On the other side, I see where people are coming from when they say they’d like a little more content for it.

On a serious note, fuling camps are hella fun, fenris armour is still good there I don't see a need for more plains armour really, the tar pit farming is also great content, even though you don't need more than 1 pit unless you like building with it - most people do because its so pretty.

and the amount of seeds you get from oak and birch makes you often need to go there, just yesterday I planted 22 oaks, got 18 seeds, 35 birch, got 24 seeds. Not quite able to replenish it most times so need the plains for more finewood.

I replanted oaks so many times, it is my go to source for fine wood and I always end up with more oak seeds than I know what to do with so you get more than 1 seed per tree on average for sure

For Black Forest I love the atmosphere. The huge trees, shafts of sunlight just poking through, the music, small bits of mist and the glow from the thistle patches scattered around. Troll are pretty fun to fight in my opinion as well. As for Mistlands, while the terrain is also very pretty I do really enjoy the mechanics of the enemies. The first Gjall encounter was amazing (that air raid sound always gets me). Getting ambushed by bugs in the mist is also a very fun first experience. I think in generally both these biomes offer a very atmosphere heavy and semi chill experience with sudden danger moments the keep you on your toes. I also prefer the darker but still vibrant color pallets both these biomes have.

My favorite moment in Ashland's was during a ash storm standing atop my landing base watching the black silhouettes of the trees sway in the storm backed by lighting and fire in the distance. Think my favorite parts of Valheim in general are when everything from the visuals, graphics, and gameplay all come together to make a biome feel truly complete. I think a few biomes are still missing some things, excited for the next update because I think the new addition might be the finishing touch I always thought the swamp needed.

My sister invited me yesterday to help them test their new game Ragnarok. I was thinking of Valheim the whole time we were playing. Tons of weird runes and talk about Muspelheim and Helheim and it was so much fun.

So if you're ever near Boise, ID and want a fun Viking-themed escape room experience - I can't recommend it enough. I'd recommend it even if it wasn't my brother-in-law inviolved with it.

Hopefully this isn't seen as advertisement - I get nothing from mentioning this, I was just thinking of Valheim the whole time we were playing and y'all would enjoy it. Ragnarok opens next week, I think - we were beta testers.

I am playing with 2 friend on a seed that is being played on my laptop. So no dedicated server and no other strangers. One of them saw me fooling around with devcommands flying.

Right away he warned me that it can be seen as cheating and that either makers of Valheim or Steam may flag me and ban me from the game entirely.

Is this possible even if I am my own host?

Apparently Vikings would find and use small traces of iron in boggy areas, called bog iron- wonder if this inspired the swamp having iron in Valheim?

They would just ‘swim’ through air a good few metres off the ground occasionally, very fun to watch. I only remember it happening when I played in the early xbox versions and there was a bunch of other issues that only affected xbox, such as swords not hitting enemies that are too close.
