Yup! The Swamps are usually the first time that becomes very clear to players. It's one of the most common places for people to give up or need help since it is where the game gets "real" and starts approaching it's full mechanics and potential. Biggest newbie hint is you should focus on food. There is a crop from each biome except the meadows, make sure you you grow them, and make good food. Make the tools like cooking pots and such, that will be the biggest hedge you can make against the difficulty. Food is a mechanic in Valheim, unlike most survival games.

as much as I love the single player option, this game really is meant to be played with friends

Hi, I can't play anything on my laptop for a while now. It freezes constantly, sometimes it crashes. Apparently because, the Processor reaches the temperature of the sun. In stand by it is 65 degrees celsius and when I play valheim it reaches 95-105 degrees celsius.
I changed the thermal paste, cleaned it, nothing.
What else could I do with it besides using it as an air fryer to cook perfect french fries?

New patch woes....just crashed a few minutes in just after crafting iron greaves...lost 20 pcs of iron...logged back in, no iron greaves in inventory, and the metal I used was gone from the chest. Sigh...using a local dedicated server. Updated the server today after I got the incompatibility warning, and first log on after that this happened.

Yeah, the Brisket and steaks were smoked with Brijed Salt combined with Rosemary and Thyme. Same for the steaks, while the lobster had a Maitre'D butter of Seasoned Salt, creole, and black pepper medley.

I took Rosemary and Thyme and Himalayan Salt and ground these to a very fine powder. Then I added 1/2 cup of each to 2 cups of water and let these fuse together in a soft boil for 30 minutes. After I did this, I used this to brush the Brisket and steaks using the brine. Then used the Salt mix over the Brisket and steaks. I then wrapped the Brisket with butter paper and smoked it at 225F for 8 hours.

You can mine Flametal ore very quickly too, but it's more dangerous

Copper is the least intuitive mineral to mine (which is incredibly dumb, since it's the first one). My advice - don't mine the copper. Dig down around it until you hit bedrock. Then dig under it; make it float to the point that it just collapses on itself.

The best way for a Rare to medium rare. Is place on a hot skillet and bast it with bitter rosemary, salt and garlic and pepper. Flash both sides and sear those juices in. Then grill it to get those marks for 2 minutes each side. And finish in the oven. I'd say about 4 to 6 minutes depending on the thickness of the meat.

Sailing in valheim feels like when I worked at an amusement park and had to push the start button every 90th second

When playing sea of thieves (limited playtime so take with a grain of salt) It was pretty fun and engaging to just sail around

more involved sailing mechanics (from what I understood) -- which I'm not opposed to on principle, but there needs to be a pretty darn good foundational reason or purpose to change what ain't broke, which hasn't yet materialized.

I'm all for valid criticism -- I have plenty of my own for the game, but for me its quite important to be able to back up and defend the reasonings behind them -- otherwise it's just baseless complaints that don't serve any productive purpose imo.

Yeah, the only true mechanical design features I might have. Is the occasional damage from either lag, or server lag. Then maybe adding a row function with team mates to add speed power to the longship and larger vessels. Say as a mechanic all players on the boat have a coordinated press "w" moment. For that heave ho viking song playing in the background.

getting up from the rudder, to walk over to the mast in order to hoist the sails could be interesting, but it doesn't make sense for most of the ships -- they're simply too small for that to be realistic -- some added animations for rope pulling while pressing up/down would serve the same purpose.

I had the funiest thing with finding Yag's Vegvisir. Playing with 2 friends that had played before, and I join them when they're already in game. "Watcha doing?", "exploring the plains some more, we still haven't found the boss yet", "ok, drop a portal, I'll come over" ... "guys... what's this?" - literally portaled in saw something in the distance and headed towards it - as they were headed in a different direction.

Haven't seen another since then.

Interesting. There's absolutely nothing like that here. I wish there was. When I got my motorcycle endorsement, when I briefly had a Harley (got it cheap), it was just a short paper test and a ten minute demonstration of skills.
