Same. I found Plains easier to manage than Swamp or Mountain. Intuitively, I imagine that's a result of the previous biomes having impediments (i.e. 'wet', and 'freezing', respectively), and also general visibility/mobility.

If you're asking whether a tree in the meadows is "cheaper" to cut down than a tree in the plains, then no. The cost of tools is only related to ~~your stamina and ~~the skill level you have.

I have a theory, anybody knows abt the hidden desert biome? Well i just watched a video where the non realesed ashlands looked like that just the ground was different and there were surtlings just like in the desert, so my theory is that u can somehow go to the world border and then somehow be able to go underwater and hope to find a desert, maybe not even in the border and like desert would be the last update

Somethings will seem difficult or unbalanced until you figure out the attack patterns. Hardest part in the beginning is remembering to stay calm and manage stamina. Rested buff is largest benefit in the game and learning to manage stamina is the next 80% rest is just exploration and killing as mobs gain more health in each biome but the base concept of managing stamina never changes really.

There are not "quests" just the next biome boss to defeat (other than Hild's quest which is just purely optional). Main thing is to decide what you like. Most love base building. It is enjoyable. I technically like to do challenges like first three bosses in 4 hours or less kind of thing. You can play it however you like at the speed you like and that is what is great about the game.

Played Valheim for first time yesterday with 2 bro's. I'm struggling to understand how the servers and character progression work. So my bro set up a server with 3 of us in it. He won't always be online so if I want to progress my character while he's offline do I need to find a random community server to join? Any progress I make will be carried over when I rejoin my bro's server when he's online? Is that right?

World and character are saved separately, so you could make a solo world and use that same character in the group world.
Have different characters for different worlds is also a possibility.

I tried that. So I played on my bros server last night. Then today went into my own world... did a couple of things. Saved it. Then exited the game. When I reopened the game it asked me whether I want to load up a cloud save from yesterday or my local save. Could I just open my local save and then use that when I rejoin my bro's server and it'll keep my progress?

Yes and no, character progress will be saved, world progress won't.
So if you defeat a boss in your solo world (either saved locally or on the cloud) it will be for that world.
If you then go to a world where that boss hasn't been defeated some world settings will be different.

Yes, you can go in another world, harvest stone and wood or kill mobs and take their loot or get gear and it will be with you to any world you go.

Yes! Me and four or five more friends made it to the Ashlands and it lagged so bad we all died several times trying to fight the mobs. They just kept coming one after the other. There was no break inbetween.

But I'm a host, it was almost fine on my side (only some short freezes) and didn't have any connection issues.

That is exactly the issue my group had in the Ashlands. Two of my group (of three) basically have barely played at all since we got into that biome. It's not 100% due to this, but I know a large part of it is the frustration they were feeling from dying over and over because of the lag.

Even solo players are turning settings way down and adjusting as much as they can in the ashlands. With the number of mobs lag can be a real killer. I hope it gets optimized soon and with the reduction of mobs on the PTR that may help considerably with the lag when it gets implemented. I wish they could fix it without reducing mobs as I like the challenge but I understand why it is difficult for most with the spawn rate, especially at night.

Picking a top 10 is hard enough, top 3 has some pretty fierce competition. It's prolly not quite there, but certainly in the ballpark. There's classics like the OG Baldur's Gate and Fallout, and then stuff like KSP (although to be fair carried a bit by mods), Don't Starve, Factorio... Just to name a few.

It changes depending on the day but Ocarina of Time, Fallout New Vegas, ... ya know Valheim might be that 3rd one. Other contenders are Hollow Knight, original Metroid (they have a similar place in my heart), and Quest for Glory 2.

Those Sierra Quest games will always be near and dear to my heart. They had so much personality, humor, and just solid storytelling.
