with higher lvl your skills will have a minimum lvl when you reset them, relvling skills doesnt take too much time/effort later on so its not that big of a deal

are there any damage types that completely bypass ward? im seeing a lot of videos where only hp takes dmg and the ward takes none. is it bugged?

ignite can be scaled with ignite damage (obviously) bit also with fire damage, which applies to hit too
so you got different factors for your scaling
if you got a % increase dmg for your skill, it depends on what kind and the corresponding dot

if you hover over your armour, it will say in the description that % armour applies to elemental damage

Hi, which build is capable of sustaining the affixe " % of damage taken goes to mana instead of health " please ? Because i'm playing a mana build, got 650+ mana atm, as much mana regeneration as i can, i can sustain my big mana casts but it's still shit (toward the affix), because there is no flat mana regen in this game :/ so I don't have enough mana regen to sustain the affix. So who can ? Can anybody at all can sustain that affix ?

Lidzy this game relies on you having a solution to mana that isn't just "passively regen it"
usually the best way to sustain it (or any huge mana expenditure) is to use skills that can gain mana on hit
mana strike is the classic example in mage for example
I'm actually using mana strike (only to regen mana, not for dmg), i took all the possible mana nods on it. Still can't sustain the affix i think, since my spell cost 150 mana and only have 32 mana regen per second
It still shows it being available on lastepochtools with their 1.0 update but I wasn’t sure where they got that info from
well if you're using a 150 mana skill then yeah it's just not going to be possible to do both.
the way to use damage taken from mana is to not use expensive skills lol

You can, but if you are using skills that have a high mana cost, the net effect can go negative without altering your play pattern.
If you use a big slam, then you need to use other things for a bit and you'd want the slam to be big enough to offset lower damage while you aren't using it.

The scaling on subskills can be off in db, because it's set from parent skill that is firing it
What? That makes no sense though. Gathering Storm's subskill is supposed to Storm Bolt? Which is supposed to be a shared subskill across multiple other parent skills
Skill tags on subskills matter if you yourself can fire it, not proc it via smth else
my understanding from the reveal was that Storm Bolt is not only GS's subskill but also replaces all other mentions of "Lightning" from other skills like Maelstrom, Tornado, Fury Leap, passive tree etc. And that now all of these skills that proc Storm Bolt will all proc the same version of Storm Bolt

if both players are in the instance when the item drops, it can be gifted freely, without resonance. resonances are just there if you and your friend play 15 hours togehter, he leaves, and you drop a great item for him while he gone, you can still gift it

If my friend needs a unique, we've grouped a bit but not enough for resonance. I have a bunch of them stashed, but we'd have to grind a resonance to trade it. Or could I give him the gold to buy it on the AH?
you would need to get a resoance for that scenario, only thing you can exchange are items, no currency or crafting mats
So the path of least resistance to trading someone a unique, is just helping them target farm that unique?

t6 and t7 are valuable to the point u need to craft or recycle them all or just a ok drop ?

skill levels aren't tied to character levels from what i can see and i can get back all the skill levels i lose when respecing by leveling them again, right?
Lvl 20 skills is unlocked at like character lvl 75. So they are tied (tho not normally an issue until higher levels). You can always relevel skills

Unseen strike's description is janky. It works without a melee weapon.

(Granted that's not the optimal way to go because you sacrifice minion damage nodes, but this is just for the sake of theoretical discussion).
with 1.0 the damage you can stack with infernal shade is capped at 180%, slap some minion life leech on and they should be fine

steam deck is not officially supported yet cause they dont have the environment to test for it

there is no full campaign skip, you can skip parts of it through dungeons
well there is maps from poe and dung from d4, and endless tower from many games
the campaign is nowhere near as tedious as PoE, if that's what you're asking.
skill points can be obtained from your choice of quests, so you have more flexibility
you can skip huge chunks of the campaign with special dungeons (primarily meant as a way to get your 2nd+ char of the league to "maps" quicker)
It's a pity that quests cannot be canceled
they wont show up on the right side once you are in end of time/monoliths

with 1.0 there will be a trading faction, you can gift items to players in your party
you can login offline before maintenance and stay logged in, it will kick you out though if you leave the game or relog

they didn't want to fall into the same pitfalls as other games where tradebotting was literally more efficient than playing the game

I just got Vipertail, a unique belt, at level 8 in my playthrough. It has the following: 57% chance to poison on hit, 55% chance to slow on hit, 5% increased melee attack speed, 54% increased dodge rating, and 7% chance to summon a primal serpent on kill.
My question is:
Those are all % based increases. So even though I got this unique at level 8, and the unique only requires level 6, It is likely to remain relevant for the entire game, because the stats on it are flat %'s. Am I thinking right about this system?

the way such low lvl uniques are made relevant for endgame is through legendary crafting
so even if the base stats are just "okayish" you can juice it up by alot with other affixes

I know the game is just coming out of early access, but will they add more classes in the future? The only game I’ve played that’s partly similar to this game was lost ark and I enjoyed very much every single class there. I’m hoping to see similar ones in the far future
i feel like this basic loot filter is for the best... shows all mage specific items till 20 and then it changes to all mage specific rare/unique/set/exalted for all the way up. just a campaign thing though
that said should i put "any" as a clause in class specific? is that every item or every item that's not class specific
they will add more masteries to each class first, somewhere in the far future maybe a completely new class as well
if you are already filtering for class specific affixes that will sort itself out by default

There is no "faction servers", Legacy Item might be an item from pre release getting updated in 1.0 ?
I would assume what you call faction servers is "seasonal server"
legacy item refers to an old version of an item that is different in the current iteration of the game
Just mentioned the absence of "faction server" cause the same content (factions etc) will be implemented to the "seasonal server" AND the "legacy" one, which is eternal / permanent / standard / out of season, depending of you call it

Great itemization, cool class design and flavor, some cool bosses, some technical problems, and the endgame isn't as fleshed out as something like path of exile

To be honest the biggest draw for me for LE over Path of Exile is
- Less of a time sink - I can reach endgame and have a comfortable build in half the time I would were it PoE
- Respec flexibility - Respeccing is more tolerant and achievable here as opposed to PoE
- Meta balance - All skills are viable, unlike PoE which forces you into metas
- Game is balanced around not trading items - Builds are completely achievable without ever trading, unlike PoE where lots of build-defining items are so rare that it's easier to farm currency to buy them as opposed to directly farming them.
What on early are you talking about? Being locked into a mastery and wanting to change it? It literally takes next to no time to relevel a character. If you can't be bothered to spend a small amount of time for a different mastery aRPGs might not be for you.
last time I played LE i really liked the (maybe a year go) charging/slam bear build. It was super fast in maps, had a satisfying button combo. Did big dmg was tanky etc. And things died near me (didnt have to back track for loot).

I mean, if you're constantly swapping skill specs, that's on you for not settling on a build. You can check out skills at a base level without speccing into them.

You know how to swap skills on your action bar right? That's all you do to check them out. You only spec into them if you want them as part of your build.

You're not getting that much functionality out of most skills with 2 or 3 points into it.

That's how fast it can go honestly. This idea that the game is somehow unplayable because you can't swap completely free of cost is silly. Compared to PoE, this is the least punishing method that I've seen.

I can see both sides of the argument though. On the one hand the leveling and respecing feels a bit superfluous at times. The skill level could just be tied to character level. But at the same time I've never felt punished respecing a skill and if I see a skill that looks like it would have some cool interactions I just make a mental note that I'll have to try it in a build one day. 🤷♂️

I feel that the devs think that although respecs are fine, there has to be an opportunity cost to changing builds.
You have to remember that in order to sell copies of the game, they have to have people playing the game to ensure that a community exists.
Making everything free means that people hit power ceilings faster, get bored faster and consequently leave faster.
Grim Dawn you pay a cost & materials to swap Skills & Devotions, same goes for Augments. You can never swap your class decision at all, period. You are married to that.
You can still experiment. I think you're making this a big issue where it isn't.
The materials cost can get steep, as you will need to target farm those up.
My one GD char is sitting at 15k scrap per point. Respeccing is pricey 😂

Also I've despecced and respecced several times in my current build and it took me no more than 4 hours at max to return to my previous skill power level.
I feel that that's a reasonable amount of time.

Unless you have very little play time, the respec cost is fine.
You are literally playing the game, where most of your time is spent grinding mobs.

Pretty much this.
Follow a leveling build until you get strong enough to do early monos, then feel free to respec all you want once you get to monos.
The advantage of that method as well is that builds that are designed to be weak at the start and strong later on are more accurately represented as opposed to respeccing all the time at earlygame.

What may help is keep 1 skill the whole time. The rest mess with TBH. That 1 skill should be your Main DPS skill.

The thing is, if you make it easy to respec even at earlygame, then that makes an unfair representation of skills that are designed to scale multiplicatively (And thus are weak early and godly lategame).
Because you respec early, you don't get to see true power levels of those skills and are left with the impression that they're weak.
Locking respecs behind some investment makes it so that those skills are more accurately represented.
PoE 2 is doing this, where they are making it easier to respec early and harder late. I think it makes the most sense imo.
POE 1 is no respeccing early. Skills you can always do for free but Passives... Yeah not early at all.
Its a normal ARPG staple to "lock" a player into a build. Then you get something cool or see a cool skill and then you go play that next. D3/D4 are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head where you could swap builds around freely.
Yes but there are ppl like me who are going into field and are checking everything, soo I would level up them to see their true power level and then swap to other skill to see its power level

Respeccing is easy once you hit monos. It stops being a limiting factor at that point.

Monos are doable in 8 hours.
uh....I don't call the first 20 hours early game mate. EArly game is based on levels, not playtime.
from my experience, the minimum points system is enough for a full respec at every point of leveling
I mean the solution most of you guys gave to White, is follow a build, dont experiment early. I dont think thats a healthly perspective for new comers

I, for one, do not recommend following a build. I recommend experimenting. Which yes, if you're gonna peak into every skill, is gonna require a little bit of grinding to get a few skill points back.
And no, I do not believe that is a barrier of experimenting either.
i view it as, you're going to want to play the respec a bit anyway, so by the time you find if you like a skill or not, you've got the missing points back already

If you wanna swap a bunch of skills early, then it's gonna take you a bit longer because of the exp requirement.
It's tagged internally that way, probably just copy/paste error and no one noticed since ailment tags are not in any client facing UI in the game client
You just need to approach early game respec differently. If you want to respec a bunch to try things out keep your main damage skill and leave one spec spot empty to swap around skills to try. You don't need a full set of specialized skills early on to progress.

What's your best guesstimated pace for someone with loads of ARPG experience, but only one playthrough of LE a few years ago? Say, if I can get to maps in PoE in 6-7 hours?

This pretty much. I have three core skills - Summon Skeletal Mage and two buff shades.
This leaves me two slots to do whatever I want. In that time, I've experimented with wraiths, more skeletons and bone golems, and each time it took me only around 4 hours max each to get each skill to the same power level as my skeleton mage.
Cause game is fun as hell just wanted to experiment instantly
probs about the same maybe faster 5-7 hours
Played POE until Harvest, got annoyed by the necessity of trading to get good gear, stopped ARPGs for a year.
Bought LE, read up on build guides, saw the Allie Fred Single Archmage build, said, "What the hell, why not give it a try".
Was in monos after 4 days where I could play at most only 4 hours per day due to other life commitments.
alright here's the next question, whats better for a casuals Merchant or CoF?

LE is a good balance of difficulty for me.
It's not as punishing of a time sink as PoE nor is it so critical that I follow build guide passive points (or else I instantly die to endgame content), but it's not so casual that even if I choose braindead gear and passive combos I can still faceroll content.
Depends on what you mean by casual. Casual with limited time or casual just chillin' and not really going hard? MG will let you get a build going faster. CoF will let you go at your own pace but you'll still be at the mercy of RNG.

The fact that some people in PoE can essentially lock certain items so that they have overwhelming control over them (and thus can set whatever pricing they want) and having those items be build-defining?
And making trade so clunky and annoying to the point that it feels like it's easier to castrate yourself with a rusty spoon than to save up enough Divines to get the uniques your build needs?

Offline characters can not be moved to online or the other way around.
Hi, question : if a skill that scales with attunement says 4% increased dmg per attunement point, and I don't have any other scaling with attunement point (in passives or skill trees), then it's totally useless right ? Or is it multiplicative ?
Because an item that has 10 attunement would only give me 40% increased, when the same item can have affixes with 150% increased.
I'm playing the AoE judgement support build, is it worth to have attunement ?

Correct, but stats also give other stuff, like attunement giving flat mana.

Assuming that your only defensive layer is ward and you are able to reach the maximum theoretical rolls for all gear, how much ward would you need so that you can facetank any content in the game?
This means 0 armor, 0 resists, 0 endurance and 0 everything else. The only defense is just sheer Ward quantity.

I haven't even attempted T2, I'm too focused on farming Blood, Frost and Death to get Exsanguinous to even try to do that. I haven't even finished empowered monoliths yet because my build is too soft for it.

Yes, you could have one character in CoF and the other in MG. Ranks are shared if one swaps to the other.

Heyo I have a question, anyone play forge sentinel ?
Theres a node in warpath that allows me to summon forged weapons based on my forge strike ability. Now im having lots of fun spinning around with warpath and summoning lots of minions, and never actually use forge strike.
Do I need to have forge strike actually on my ability bar ? Does it have a downside if I just use other abilities ?
You don't need a skill on a bar to enable proc'd skills, no.

What if I use acid flask which proc by explosive trap to convert armor shred to fire shred. But at the same time I converted explosive trap to cold and lightning which also convert fire shred to lightning and cold shred itself.
May I know at the end what kind of shred is happening
I guess ill still have forge strike specialized in the back though since it improves all my summons

They have a lot of builds like this; you are only getting the skill on the bar for its nodes but never using the skill, which is one of the reasons that makes LE so fun actually.

With your first character and mindset open to switching builds/gear, at which level do you entirely filter out Magic items? Or do you set some important exceptions?
Greatly depends on your build and the items you might see. Generally you will filter for certain stats. At a certain level you might find more non magic items with the stats you desire.. personally i don't filter them out.. a good roll is a good roll.. Perhaps i'll remove them upon reaching monolith but not often before that.. (my opinion / playstyle)
There could be the option to add amount of forging potential stat to item filter.

They do not need unique / set items to be working. though sometimes they can offer more DPS / EHP then just Rare's

General issues will be adressed in 1.0. Though the extend of the patches are still unclear.. from what has been mentioned allot of work has been put in. so expect improvements

Correct, characters created now will go to legacy. If you want to play in the cycle (season/league) you'll want to wait until the patch drops.
But the cycle and legacy characters will have all the same content for 1.0.

Hey everyone. I am completely new to Last Epoch. I always enjoy playing tanky/bruiser melee characters with big 2 handed (Hammers preferred) weapons. Now I'm not sure which class is suited for this. Obviously Sentinel, but no clue about sub-class. Or possibly even the Primalist could fit this role? If anyone has some tips or advice, it's very welcome.

Both offer a good bit of starter builds (Note check if updated to 1.0) These could offer inspiration.
Void Knight and Forge Guard are more themed for 2h than Paladin, but you can do Paladin too.
Primalist might be a flavour miss for you because Primalist melee-related builds tend to either use a lot of minions or spend all their time shapeshifted
If you don't mind to be shapeshifted, bear is a great example of tanky bruiser

I have a bit stupid question: how does adaptive damage works with double-element skills? Like, Cinder strike deal physical and fire, or Disintegration deals lightning and fire. How untyped damage (like from weapons) works in these cases? Half one type, half another? All to one type? Full value to both types?
