You can play together, you can gift any items you find while playing in the same zone to each other.
Any items that you acquire as a result of your item faction's bonus will have an item faction rank requirement to use. You must currently be representing that item faction to use the item.
Any items your friend finds as a result of being CoF will have a CoF rank requirement. If he gifts that item to you, you would need to switch factions and rank up to be able to use it.

When an effect makes sense to, we default to "on kill or chance on rare/boss hit".

What does it means when an item says legendary potential? Do you have to use an item to upgrade it?
If you complete the Temporal Sanctum dungeon, the reward is to make a legendary item out of a unique with legendary potential (LP) and an exalted item.

Ok, but it's quite a big problem when you don't get any procs on mono objectives since they are not rares. Really makes those type of builds feel bad. Also magic mobs can be annoying too as you can't really do much if your not getting skill procs vs them.
Thinking of multi strike/smite, if there's only 1 magic mob or the mono objective has no mobs nearby it's super slow to kill em xD

If you mean a specific reason, it's because they don't like the idea of people playing the market rather than the game. Trading isn't meant to be the "optimal" way to gear every single time here.
It also cuts down on RMT opportunities and botting.

When they finish releasing game then probably they are going to focus on road map or new content for a game. Its just a stupid question for now in my opinion. Road map is usually to tell players that they are not going to be boring in game to show them plans of future, but game didnt started yet, you can play check classes in new league and it iwll take you long time. Hi, Mike! Have you guys considered having like some sort of "Replica" items added into the game? Like Maehlin's Hubris for example, would be nice having a version of that item that converts Ignite into bleed. It's a way of easily adding new uniques that aren't so new but great for allowing more diversity
Also Diablo Clone/Secret cow level kind of event would be sweet as well and damn torches from D2 are pretty cool as well specially taking in consideration how farming torches is a bit time consuming(if you're farming your own keys, doing your own Ubers and stuff) good for chase idk

seriously though, the devs have been working on server stability and connection stuff for 6+ months now. things should be better. however its just unrealistic to believe everything will work perfectly out of the gate. thats why the servers come down on tuesday, thats why they are releasing on wednesday. so that they have time during normal hours to fix anything that needs fixing.

We know items acquired while in one of the Factions can't be worn when you switch to the other - but how does it work with items acquired BEFORE joining them? Can you craft a good, very general set of items (life, resistances, crit avoidance, mana regen) before you join any faction and use it right from the get go when you switch factions? If so, will it get bound to the new faction the moment you equip it?

When you use profane veil with both Unholy Renewal (removes ailments) and Grave Circle (apply marked for death on you). Does it apply marked for death on yourself and then instantly removes it?
Not sure where to report it , but the Sorc fireball spell does not hit all bosses that a "stuck" / "rooted" in the middle of the room. Just now did the boss at Ritual Site and my fireball wouldnt connect or do any damage.

there are 3 turtle pets which you should have.
No, they just affect your chance of finding more uniques. After patch 1.0, corruption will scale LP chance a very small amount.

Me and my GF tested something yesterday. We got to the point in the campaign where you can decide your mastery. My GF logged out, and logged in on a newly created lvl 1 character. She then teleported to me, delivered the quest, and then were able to choose mastery. So she could be a level 1 Necromancer for instance. We were able to repeat this as many times as we wanted.
Is this intended?
kinda sorta but also not really. its more like an unintended effect of being able to party at lvl 1 and how they have the MSQ flags lined up. overall it really doesnt break anything besides some early campaign stuff, which is alreayd pretty easy as it is

The new spine unique is very cool, it makes Cthonic Fissure no longer create spirits and instead uses flame whip; does this mean torment is no longer applied, since it was the spirits that applied torment?

nah, its fine. you just miss some early quests idol/passive rewards, but you can pick more up in the story anyways

The new body affix for acolyte is worded as '+x% increased spirit frequency', and the skill tree node description is worded 'release spirits more frequently' (though the actual number part doesn't state increased or more).

Curious, is there an order for damage conversion? The new unique vial of volatile ice and explosive flask both convert base damage to a different element. Does gear or skill tree take priority?

For instance, does the Flame Whip inflict Tormented? If Spirit hits shred resistance, do Flame Whip hits shred that same resistance? Can Flame Whip hits consume Infernal Shade? All in the context of using the Spine of Malatros.
Hmm. I haven't seen an unmodified Cthonic Fissure cast, but judging from the tree, it seems to me that the clip in the news post shows a specialized Cthonic Fissure that causes a second fissure to open in the opposite direction.
That node requires two points invested in Fell Fire, which spreads Ignite stacks when Tormenting an enemy, and two points in Spirit release frequency.
Spirit release frequency almost certainly corresponds to Flame Whip cast frequency, but I just thought it would be unfortunate if Flame Whip affected by the Cthonic Fissure tree had zero Torment interactions and didn't apply Spirit on-hit effects.
Unsure if this has been answered, but will the download be available before the servers open?

Not all of the new item base types are for every character. We are adding more options to pick from but that doesn't mean every build gets something new.

On your first character, you get access to the item faction pretty late in the campaign so they aren't competing for most of it.
I really wanted to make cinder strike viable with a bow with these fist but the stats are like not even beneficially unless you're unarmed, why š¦

Ch.9 is current end of the campaign, so it being in there doesn't preclude you needing to finish the campaign
The new graphics are really mostly just lightning changes. This means that we've made changes to almost every zone in the game. That is a large part of the game files.
The patch download size is going to be very significant. I don't know how big but it will be very big. Downloading the game from scratch will be bigger. I'm sorry this isn't much info because I just don't have any on the matter really.

Just watched the recent dev stream, and it was mentioned that the entire game, including offline, will be down a day before launch.
Out of interest - why is the offline mode dependent on the game servers anyways? Seems like a preservation issue if offline mode will be unplayable if the servers ever go down.

From what I recall, part of the 1.0 update is truly separating online and offline. Right now offline mode is kinda faux-offline.
Currently, offline requires an initial server authentication to function. This won't be the case after 1.0
The timestamp should be region specific so it should tell you for where you are.

hi Mike, one question: all the Falconer skill nodes and passives that grant the Falcon a portion of your throwing damage - do they apply to your FIRE throwing damage as well? And if so, is the damage from that added as fire, or as adaptive?

@placid plinth The sword specifically states that "Cathonic Fissures cast Flame Whip instead of Releasing Spirits" && "Cathonic Fissures Skill Tree Applies to Flame Whip from all Sources".
If the spirit nodes don't work that eliminates nearly the entire left half of the Cathonic Fissure tree. The nodes on the right don't seem to apply to Spirits and instead the Fissure themselves which wouldn't make sense to then apply to the Whips.
Why would the Whips not inherit the Spirits mods from Cathonic Fissure's tree if they are replacing them?
edit: Unless, Do the Whips inherit the Fissure scaling nodes on the right side of its tree?
Since favor cost is supposed to be "low" to sell an item, is it gonna be possible to sell items to a lower price to make sure they sell asap in order to get MG reputation easily ?
You can list it at any price you want. Lower prices will probably sell faster.

No such thing as an SSF specific server. You can create a character in a Solo challenge mode, but you won't have access to Merchant's Guild. You will still be able to use CoF.

The new acolyte affix is worded as 'Increased spirit frequency with chthonic fissure', the node in cthonic fissure is described as 'The Fissure releases spirits more frequently' (though the actual number part doesnt say its giving x% more frequency).

Asking only because the Profane Instruments node gives 25% increased area per point, if you're usign a staff. And the node before just gives increased area without a condition. Content is the same (at least for this first cycle). Legacy is where all existing characters and items is. Cycle is where everyone will be starting fresh on the 21st with absolutely no items nor characters, and it also has a ladder.

Cycle/ladder chars will transfer over to Legacy after the cycle.

You should play Ladder the first cycle unless you have characters that you want to continue on legacy right now.
for access to trading, if you end up going that route.
generally, most games with cycle/ladder vs legacy, legacy is almost exclusively for testing things before an upcoming cycle, and for people with limited time to play and want continuity with their current character. It is generally a very small playerbase compared to cycle.
So if you have limited time to play, then go legacy after the first cycle to continue with your 1.0 character.

1) Veil doesn't have an area tag (in letools or maxroll), but can increase its area with 2 nodes. Is this intended (that it doesnt have the tag, not the nodes)?
2)Veil doesnt have the channeled tag, but is a channeled skill? Again, is this intended? If yes, will the doom herald passive work with profane veil- 'You take less damage while channeling and deal more damage to damned enemies while channeling'
3)Does the 'Forked Tongue' node in Profane veil ('You now create a secondary Profane Veil area that is detatched from you and moves towards enemies') last until you stop holding down the button for veil, or does it last the full duration veil can last regardless?
It has the tags, Necrotic, Spell, DOT, Area, Channeled, Movement, and Intelligence at base. These don't show up in community tools for reasons, but it's visible in the reveal.

Is there a way to get a hold to customer service outside of tickets through the game website? My alpha bundle had some physical items that I have never received. The only customer service method we have is through email on the website. Best I can say is to open a new ticket.
I don't doubt that you aren't receiving a connection from support at some point. I have investigated about 5 or 6 things like this and so far every time the records indicate that all messages have been replied to. I don't know why it happens every once in a while. There was an issue a few years ago that caused a few to get cutoff but that has been fixed and I've checked to make sure it hasn't come back.

Now, the next few weeks are going to be insane for them so you might have to wait a couple days to get a real reply but I would just open a ticket with all the previous information in it.

Is there a design limitation to adding interactions to old skills, that include new skills (such as from falconer)?
For example. Shift and smoke bomb both have a talent node that uses bladedancers shadow cascade.
But when falconer comes out, all of its synergies will be based off the new skills interacting with the old skills. Rather than old skills interacting with new skills.

All that is set in stone is 1.0.
Our rough plan for the first few cycles is little to no cycle specific mechanics. Cycles will still bring about major changes to the game along with a leaderboard reset and a fresh economy environment. It is possible that we could start experimenting with cycle specific mechanics as early as 1.1. We aren't ready to commit to doing anything that early yet. How fast we start introducing cycle specific mechanics if at all, will likely be a topic of hot debate both internally and in the community. We will be paying close attention and making adjustments to our plan as we go.

was actually initially intended to be a fist weapon or an unarmed weapon. We didn't have the tools we have now so we had to shift gears and ended up with and item I really like. I still have faith in it making a comeback.
Anyways, I agree that unarmed is a popular archetype that we are woefully underrepresenting.
I can also tell you that people datamined that we have had a "fist" base weapon type id reserved since kickstarter.

I think Last Epoch is a good game but there is one thing that is preventing me from playing it a lot. I will most likely play one or two offline characters but that is it. Why?
Well, I don't want to do a long campaign everytime I make a character. This seems to be an issue with ARPGs in general and not only Last Epoch. I see this as an issue because if you make an ARPG that is designed around ladder seasons, why are we doing the story over and over and over? Why isn't there a separate mode for ladder seasons that are more map oriented. I can understand if this game was singleplayer but if we are by design expected to make hundreds of characters, why isn't there an alternate path outside of campaign? This issue is made even worse by hardcore mode. My opinion
You can do the dungeons and skip the campaign, or make leveling items to easily clear through it

You have to do some side quests even if you skip, if you run fast through the campaign you can probably do it in 2-3 hours especially with leveling gear

Surge being a targeted ability kinda defeats the purpose of having something to help you run around monoliths faster. Shield charge is uncontrolable, high cd and high mana cost.

No, as far as we know currently.
Torment is a property of the Spirit projectile. as you no longer create Spirits, you don't Torment things.
Fair, it would have been kinda insane to get the +7 level on both and be able to abuse that interaction.

Are ehg aware of how common leaks from the CT currently are in regards to the strength of new skills, the expectations of what non cts should expect in regards to difficulty in monoliths, and general experiences of cts in the 1.0 build?
At this point the amount I've picked up from random YouTube and twitch comments is definitely making me feel less excited about the discovery side (and yes, maxroll clearly plays a part here, but I'm specifically just focussing on individual CT stuff here) of 1.0. So the follow on question is just: are there plans to make the CT program stricter and more clearly defined on what can be shared?
And if I can suggest, it might be good to reiterate to testers what they can't share once patch notes are out.
(For vague reference, as to not further spread stuff: 'i killed Z enemy in X seconds with skills A and B', 'X skill is the strongest levelling skill for Y class from my testing', 'players should really be careful about ........ on release' etc... these are some of the specific ones, there's also just the absolute truck load of insinuations about the strength of things, like, beyond counting)

How does the Abyssal Echoes chaining work? My current understanding of the ability is that it hits the area and affects up to X units inside of it. Is it like Echoes where it casts itself again? We like to call that gifting, not trading, just to not confuse it with trading rules.
Items purchased on the Bazaar have a MG rank requirement to use. It can be gifted with resonance but you would need to switch to MG to use it.
Items found on the ground by a MG player are giftable to a CoF player and they can be used like normal.

as someone new to arpgs , in eli5 words , CoF gear gives you more posilibites to build stuff but is not more powerful than the gear that you can trade?

Resonances aren't trades, they follow the rules of gifting I believe
CoF helps you upgrade your gear faster by getting better drops.
MG helps you upgrade your gear faster by giving you access to the bazaar.

Joining a faction will NOT prevent you from playing with ANY other player and you will still be able to gift items to other players regardless of their selected faction.
does this mean circle of fortune tagged items can be gifted to a player in the merchants guild?
We want to encourage playing the primary game modes and we don't think that playing the Bazaar is the game we are making. Flipping also encourages market shaping practices which we want to discourage.
I believe their stance on this is outlined in the faction blog post

yes, but if they have a CoF tag the mg player won't be able to equip them (until they swap to CoF), they're also untradable

With the launch of 1.0 will there be an introduction of new supporter packs? The reason I ask is because I'm thinking of buying up the current ones, and would like to know if i should plan for more than just the currently available packs.

yes, that's right, once an item is purchased from the bazaar, it gains a MG tag.

sorry just to clarify, if I'm a CoF player and my friend is MG. The items I find would be tagged with CoF so can I still gift to them (and they be able to use)? my understanding is that MG items will only be tagged when it's sold, but CoF items are tagged upon receiving while in the guild.
they previously said the current supporter packs will be available for at minimum the entire first cycle, and they will announce clearly in time before they are discontinued

Afaik NDA has not stopped, but CT members can talk about stuff that's been publically revealed, so if something wasn't revealed they shouldn't be able to talk about it afaik.

Skimmed thru the notes and didnt see anything about being able to compare 2 rings at same time? i always had to swap rings around to compare them w/ new ring loot.
I'm not seeing the change to how Blessings work in that you have the ability to select between the blessing you've already acquired in the patch notes. Is this not in 1.0?

hi EHG. i dont see anything in the patch notes about fixing the necro's skills, such as rip blood and drain life, targeting minions on controller. for example if you take heactomb and necrotic feast for drain life, the skill will not target your minions if youre using controller. have these skills been fixed for controller?
This doesn't seem to be covered in the patch notes or posts, Do Storm bolts still scale with the multipliers of the skill that proc them (eg: Tornado)

Also noticed the Lightning cast in Werebear skill tree (rampage) doesn't seem to be getting Storm Bolt change

Do the minions resummon themselves when you revive? Resummoning 15+ minions when i come back to life doesn't sound like a great time.

I don't have the details on hand but I do know that there were a good chunk of changes. I'm not sure why it was left out of the patch notes. Maybe only working with some distros or something?
