The new launcher was just released. It comes with "SteamPD2.exe". Add this to steam and it will update the game, update loot filters, and launch the game without any input.

If you switch your Steam Deck to Desktop Mode and manually start the SSH service, you can just SSH into your Steam Deck from your PC

I'm legit more upset with the reactions to it. Shit's bad, yes. But people are out here claiming that the entire art direction and visual style is plagiarized. Plagiarized from what? Their own work? The growth of the thematic genre from the past 30 years?

I'm always surprised devs are still trying to pump out "Extraction Shooters" despite the genre having a practically non-existent market share. Not saying there isn't a market for it, but that there's a disproportionately smaller market than the rate of games being released in this genre.

That is to say, it's very clearly a niche genre with no mass appeal whatsoever, yet there's so many Extraction Shooter games being released.

I think that is kinda part of Bungie's angle with it. It seems to be a lot less "extreme" than most. Pretty much all of them are a "you die you lose" sitch with very few having restricted (and very long) revives. Marathon has a lot less restriction to that from the alpha tests.

I suspect the brutally unforgiving aspect of "losing all your stuff before extraction" in PvP in games like Tarkov and Dark and Darker plays the biggest role in deterring mainstream players.

Likely. It's why I don't really play the PvP side of Tarkov. Just isn't fun to be on high stress the whole time. If I want a PvP fix from that gameplay I can load into Arena with a lot less frustration.

Marathon is a lot more appealing from the facet of faster general gameplay, dying once not being the immediate end of my run, and just the overall style of the game being more in line with my interests

Yeah, could be worth a look if it doesn't play like a traditional extraction shooter... I mean I like the art style personally, I just write off anything that calls itself an "extraction shooter" because 99% of games with that label have one or two aspects about them that are basically just deal breakers for me.

Marathon has this very punk, even cyberpunk-ish look to it which is cool IMO.

I agree. I'm a very big fan of punk fashion and culture, and as an extension I really enjoy cyberpunk settings (I just also find a lot of them tend to miss the "punk" part in their narratives). Whether or not the game turns out well I am very excited to see what their art team comes up with for the finished product, Bungie's usually really good with that side of their work (latest controversy aside).

Shattering cycle is trash because I need to cast one rune -> cast double runes -> cast three runes to active the buff, no way for me to remember this LONG process when I'm fighting with a boss. Gordian Prism is the new unique catalyst which support elemental nova specially, I can't play lightning/fire/lightning rune pattern by that. Triboelectra is a good wand for supporting lightning skills, but the flat spell damage is too low.

EHG give us many rune patterns but few ones are supported only

so..compared to Runemaster, Forge Guard specialized in forged weapons is actually op in both clear and single target. I'm melting bosses in seconds if I have minions when joining the fight, it's slower otherwise because not great summon potential in early game vs single target.
Both are now 36 and SCF.
I'd also say I was very lucky with gear with my runemaster but Forge Guard got reworked (not sure how much tbh) so it's expected to be better but still it makes me sad to see such a big difference.
Runemaster multi target: ok | single target: super bad
FG multi target: great | single target: op!
