Not sure if its a bug or not but I slammed a peak of the mountain in the julra dungeon and didnt like the result so i left it there yesterday.
Today I go back to it , take it off and put another peak with the same exalted item i had mirrored and it gave me the same result.
Both had the same resistances slammed onto it.

Something I've been curious about, what's the design/balance philosophy behind items that cast spells? (Bane of winter, celestial doom, frozen ire etc) Are the spells meant to supplement a build? Is the team okay with a proc spell being the main source of damage for a build?

Weavers will items are nice and all. But are we getting improvements to unlocking the stats on these items?
Right now, for example if i am using one of the relics every time i switch to "leveling" a new weavers will item, even if it's just switching between the same kind of relic it is very tedious because that would for example remove a skill point from all my skills and i'd have to redo the point on my 5 skills.
Also if i already have a good weavers will item, i'd have to lose all the stats from that item to equip a new one to unlock the stats.
Have the devs considered adding a different unlocking method or adding some QoL to weavers items so that it becomes less tedious?

If I'm unlocking a bunch of relics in a row, I simply don't spend the points it gives me. That way it can't mess up my build while I'm unlocking.

yes, the conversion from hubris is just a stat that you have. the proc gets the bleed chance (and any other stats) and triples them for the proc'd skill. The proc'd skill then also gets your other stats, like hubris' conversion, just like every other skill does, and it uses it.
During the stream today I think I heard you mention that Bladedancer would be on the lower end in terms of amount of changes to the mastery. Does that mean the new Rogue skill coming in season 2 is a skill for another mastery (Marksman) or did you just not include base Rogue changes as Bladedancer changes? (obviously you might not be able to answer but i figured i would ask nonetheless)

The base skill has a blue version of the same thing. It's part of the cosmetic change to the skill's vfx.

FYI, there's a tab overview thing you can open (button in top-right area of stash window). It has its own search bar that you can use which does show which tabs have what you're looking for.

So it's a complex system that depends on your distance to the boss. If you were to position yourself exactly the same across 2 fights, she should behave very similarly.

No, nemesis upgrades are not affected by corruption, level, or rarity modifiers.

Yup, each ability is ranked by priority and has a unique operating distance. So some enemies that have abilities which have variable distances can get into different patterns based on what distance you are from them at different points in time.

Each ability can only have 1 VFX style at a time. If you have selected a cosmetic VFX for a skill, that's what it will look like. Regardless of how the skill is specialized.

Each cosmetic effect on a skill is a complete overhaul. It doesn't matter what state the base version of the skill is at all. It looks like what the cosmetic looks like.
If it's a skill specific triggered effect, we did our best to get them.

Yes, Silver Shroud doesn't actually give you or depend on Dodge Rating at all.

i was in ultra at 2k and seems to lose fps, tried on low quality at 2k cause i saw some vids mentioning that some things like water can make AFMF make u lose fps and same behaviour. seem to lose 10-30fps when its enabled

A technical question abt warpath. How does it suppose to work with going negative mana, currently after testing it seems to always got to -10 mana and stop after 0.3-0.5 seconds when u go below 0. Its always -10 regardless if u have 10 channeling cost 18 or 80(from warriros fury). Also funny interaction with void essence mana refund node for some reason it doesnt stop channeling when u go negative and refund mana from void well node, is this all intended?
How to retrieve equipment from Gift window. Due to complex/stupid gifting system I cannot access my 4LP armor. I tried to gift item to party member. After a while player logged off and now item is stuck in gift window and I cannot access it !!!!

I did not gifted it because golden resonance was not enough to gift 4LP armor. So It is in gift window, do I have to beg the player to party with me to take it out from that window.
I think if developers are inventing new trade/gift system they should predict all anomalies. For me it is half done system to complicated and totally stupid.

The game always fail to save Borderless window and keep the Fullscreen mode instead every time I log on. It happens since pre-season and I have submitted in-game bug reports but issue still remains when I log on today. Any solutions for that?

Good afternoon, if/when LE ever gets a guild/clan system for players. Would having a guild bank be a possibility. Or would that be something that does not line up with LE's loot/trading concept/functionality?
its one of the reasons they dont currently have one...as it kinda bypasses the bazzaar and gifting systems. they have said before they want clans to have a meaning outside of just a guild bank, and they dont really have one outside of that the way LE is currently
@flint bloom ok thank you for reply. additionally would something like an open party if in the same guild be a possibility or is that just a programming nightmare. In my mind what I'm referring to would be an option to create an open party that goes on a list in guild/clan UI that guild/clan members could just hop in and out of by just clicking it. Additionally just to note I'm not saying this as an indirect suggestion, I'm just curious if that's even a possible thing.

That's the main draw for guilds/clans for us at the moment. It's something that we are interested in. It's just not quite high enough on the list yet to make it into Season 2. (and it wouldn't come with a free use shared guild stash)

We don't have any plans for it but I could see an argument for having basically a local bazaar which still required the same gold, favour and MG faction rank to interact with. Probably easier to just add a filter in the real bazaar of "guildies only" or something though.

With Skill MTX coming, are you guys interested/trying to track if that has some influence on the skills players choose to use?
Is there any reason why you didn't go with steam item inventory for the cosmetics then they would work online but you wouldn't be able to mod them in. Basically the same system several other games uses like golf it, space engineers, tf2.
Yes. Do I fully remember what it is? No.
We actually initially set it up that way but ran into a problem that was a deal breaker so we had to do it this way instead.
I think it was something to do with twitch drops or bundling or contest rewards or something like that. It was some way of giving them out that wouldn't have worked.
Why is game so laggy.
A lot of time the game don't even register key press. I'll will brake my keyboard because I have to slam the keys so many times. Usually you press a key and skill will autorepeat. Not to mention when you click storage it's like 2s delay before changing tab.

Good afternoon, i was wondering the companion ability "crow storm" for the skill "storm crows" scales off of minion related affix's on gear or character based. For example would "increased lightning damage" or "increased minion lightning damage be the choice to use for increasing "crow storm". i looked up the damage skill tags of the ability and what i found were; "Lightning", "Spell"," Area", and "Attunement" but nothing with the minion tags so i got a bit confused.
The companion ability of your Storm Crows.
Your crows call down a single massive lightning strike on the targeted area after a brief delay, hitting all enemies in the area. Deals 50% more damage per contributing crow.```
This means that the crows are the ones doing the attack so you'll want to buff your crows to make it deal more damage. That means you need minion damage.

One thing I've always wondered is... how does crowstorm actually get cast? Does it pick one crow arbitrarily as the caster, pick one intentionally (like say, one with the highest damage buffs), or do they somehow all get considered the caster?

Sorry for asking another question but i was curious about sub-skills in skill trees. Specifically if the sub skills damage gets increased by the relevant damage increase/more nodes within the skill tree. Kind of the same way ailments applied from skills are affected by the relevant skill nodes (if i have understood dots correctly. For example as i understand if i use the skill "hungering souls" converted to fire and apply an ignite with it. The damage increasing skill node for dot dmg "decent into madness" will increase the ignites damage (specifically in this case it would be a multiplier as it is a more dmg. For example of a skill applying a sub skill ill use the sub-skill "fissure" from "smite" skill tree applied from the skill tree node "epic center". will the fissure gain the damage mod's that increase smites damage or do the nodes need to be generic or mention the sub-skill specifically. or is it a case of only nodes that mention the sub skill specifically will increase the damage. in addition to this there is the case of on hit skills applying and what happens in this case to the applied skill. an example of this is within the skill "lightning blast" and the skill "spark charges" having a chance to apply on hit from the tree node "cloud answer". will the on hit skill gain any of "lightning blasts" damage increasing tree nodes or not. and if it can gain does it have to be general or spark charges specific wording in the node description such as "mortal capacitor", or will all damage increasing skill tree nodes apply to the spark charges. sorry for the wordy question and i apologize if it does not read well or make sense as i was unsure if i asked the correct way.
Ill take the exemple of Smite and Fissure
Any generic More Dmg will apply (Sacrifice), but the More Hit Dmg wont because Fissure is a Dot
Also Attribute scaling will also apply to Fissure (4% Inc Dmg per Att)
For Spark Charges its a bit more complicated, because they are an ailment that triggers a spell
Basically for Spark Charges it needs to mention it directly
The general rule is that skills procced from skills trees inherit all stats (such as % increased damage, % more damage, etc.), except for when they don't. (Edit to add, forgot to mention certain things are not "stats" so don't get inherited. e.g., stuff conditional to enemy state, skill procs, etc.)
Often times, the skills that do not inherit will say something along the lines of "does not scale with other nodes on this skill tree". Specializable skills you proc also will not inherit anything (but are sometimes modified explicitly). Spark charges are an example of one that doesn't say that, but still is not a subskill and therefore does not inherit anything from the skill that applies it. Unfortunately, the answer sometimes is you just need to ask or test if it inherits.
They inherit all stats almost all of the time except for target conditional stats, when it comes to those they never get inherited afaik. An example of this would be something like "1% increased damage per ignite on target". Stuff that's conditional but not dependant on the target can get passed down, something like that would be "1% increased damage per uncapped lightning resistance", I just made these examples to illustrate my point but hopefully they paint the picture
target conditional effects are technically special nodes and are not actually stats
player conditional effects are converted to a stat in the ability mutator which means they do get passed down with the other stats

to the devs: have you ever considered during theory crafting to remove the LP stat from uniques and make it like a separate random drop, a crafting material that can have 4 levels?
yup. The variable rarity of LP from one unique to another makes that functionality extremely imbalanced or overly complicated. That difference in LP rarity is one of the primary purposes of the system and without it, the whole thing kinda crumbles.

You can also stun/freeze bosses out of some abilities which just makes them cast their next ability before the first finishes. But this sounds more like an enrage or frenzy mod

I have a question about Unbalanced Scale node on the Smite tree. Does it apply electrify or does it need a source of ignite converted by Order of lagon node?
Unbalanced Scale triggers Lightning Blast which does not have any base Electrify chance. You can hold [alt] in game while hovering over the node to see the ability tooltip of the triggered ability.
And it’s a bugg with the controller I can’t put a weapon in the egg
Please use the in game bug reporting tool to report bugs. We don't collect them from here and the in game tool goes directly into our bug tracking flow.
i'll elaborate more my previous idea, it was too raw..
was it also considered to still use a LP crafting material drop in various levels, but during transfer also consider an inherent transfer efficiency chance % for uniques? The uniques have already this percentages to roll with each LP level.
In example players when a ultra rare LP4 material drops, they can choose to use it on a grimoire of necrotic elixirs to have a almost sure chance to transfer all 4 affixes, while even using the L4 on a red ring, they have barely the chance transfer 1 affix. They can even try a LP1 material with a low efficiency unique but with a very concrete risk of bricking the unique without even transferring anything.
it's still a roulette, but at least the player has agency to choose his best rolled unique as base and decide how to manage his very scarce stack of L3 and L4 materials

Heartseeker looks awesome! I noticed that both clips on if in the trailer are characters using bows, but it looks like it would be a throwing skill to me. With the new trailer some of us had spotted that Champion affixes on items could be for skills for a class that was different than the item itself (companion or lightning blast on a rogue helmet).
Is this actually how it works or just part of a mockup?
Why some UI has mouse passthrough function. For example if I want to click on party member with right mouse click it executes the skill and show dropdown

kinda, you can stack woven echoes because they don't have unique properties in your inventory
it's a tricky thing to quantify because characters can be better at different things. I think people will be on accounts that can farm decently above 300 before attempting uber.

yea, the affix says 100% converted, not +100% converted and it doesn't go above 100%.
if you have 576% chance for an ailment and that is converted to another then you have +576% of the new ailment chance
ergh cant post the screenshot but it says 117% of bleed converted to ignite (around 1:28)
I just checked the code right now and it's capped at 100%, that must have been captured pre-fixing a bug.

Will the recurve chance on heartseeker function the same as ailment % chance as in over 100% means one recurve, 200% means 2 recurve or will it be a % chance every time it recurves to do it again? As in if you have 50% there is a 25% chance that it will recurve twice?
We will be going into a deep dive on how that all works later. The way it works you could theoretically get many many more than 1 from 100%.

Hope so the trailer had a Rogue helmet with Lightning blast chain chance modifier. Maybe that was a mistake?
I'm not sure if that's a mistake or not but it does have for the rogue a almost completely useless but still technically usable hybrid stat of increased spell damage that goes with it.
We did partner with another studio to make the cinematics. I think it was the right call because they clearly knocked it out of the park.

Performance improvements are always something we are working hard on. Every major patch comes with performance improvements. It just isn't really a splashy thing to put in an overview trailer.

That's understandable it's just hard to know what you guys are aware of such as dodging into enemies when trying to dodge away, or stuttering when pulling up the overlay map or stuttering when a lot of enemies die or spawn on the screen - these don't appear in known bugs but are common at least for me, but then I see a lot of people saying the game runs buttery smooth for them 😂so even when using a pretty good rig there's probably minor differences in hardware between players that might have a big impact

The trailer confused me a little, in that it seems like the weaver is an antagonist or at best a neutral faction whose goals dont align with the travellers, yet we join them? Shattering is one thing, items themselves being useful for anything except leveling (in rare cases) is another which is something that's way more important for me

so if you have a phantom grip ring, and the blood roost gloves, does the 'Physical Penetration with Bleed inflicted by Minions' apply to your forged weapons, or only to your forged weapons' minions? aka it won't work because forged weapons don't have their own minions?
The affix itself will work because they are your minions. But the stat they got from the ring would apply to their minions and as you said they have none so the affix they'd get from the ring would be useless.
Tldr: no double dipping
I'm just speculating but my guess is that after shattering set items we will get shards that allow us to turn other items into set items or to add affixes from that set to other items.

So one thing I noticed in the trailer was that WASD and mastery respecs are both being added. While I'm indifferent to WASD, I appreciate being able to swap masteries... but curiously, both of these features were explicitly said to not be added! I remember one dev (you?) saying "We don't want to say never because things change", but this nonetheless comes as a surprise.
What led to these decisions being made? Was it simple demand since both were often requested? Was a way to do them without compromising the game's vision discovered? Did someone new gain decision making powers and push for them?

I'm sorry but could you give some options as to what you mean? What are the options of kinds of RNG systems that we have to pick from?
The answer that came to mind initially was "the random kind" but that feels like it's not what you meant.
The process to get features like these in is a long and winding road. The short version is that we didn't ever plan to have WASD but the demand for it caused us to take another look at it. We decided that we wanted it but didn't think that we could get it feeling good enough in time so "the line" became "maybe". As you can see, it's listed as beta. The fact that we are releasing it as such is indicative of the impact the feedback has had.
Essentially, without the intensity of the feedback, I expect that it would have shown up eventually but it was expedited.
As for mastery respec, that was a very different process. Player feedback actually had almost nothing to do with that decision as it was essentially split on which one the community at large seemed to prefer. That was decided more because of how the game and content available had evolved recently. We figured that it was time to pull the trigger on it. I personally didn't expect it until 4th masteries arrived but I'm quite pleased that we did it now instead. I think it was actually decided while I was in vacation and I was very pleased when I got back as I actually had a plan to pitch it hard for next patch after Season 2.
And yes, that's the short version.

It may mean things like how it's determined which items drop. Grim Dawn has a super interesting way of doing things where it will reroll any unique item that drops if you already saw it that play session, up to a maximum of ten rerolls if it keeps rolling duplicates over and over. I do not know of any such system in Last Epoch, though.

Current Aberroth is not what I would call an Uber boss. I tend to use D2 example on what that is. (Check the arreat summit site for what I think is the first use of the term.) The other new fixed difficulty bosses are meant to be challenging steps in your character's journey. They will be asperational goals for many players who maybe thought Aberroth was too asperational.
to me the base version of a boss can never be uber since uber (to me) is a stronger version of a boss

Regarding mid-season discovered build-breaking bugs(both positively and negatively). Like in 1.0 your initial stance was insta fixing(vs infinite smoke bomb shadows, and 40% warlock ward), but then you stopped fixing all the bugs that got surfaced later(mainly talking about all the bugged damage interaction of Detonating Arrow). What's EHG's stance of this problem with the upcoming season?
New masteries are certainly less difficult to make. We have plans for both at some point.
Each situation is unique and will be addressed individually.
I agree that overall Aberroth wasn't that hard in the grand scheme of things, once I learned how he works. Nevertheless, I do recall that he was being billed as "Last Epoch's first Uber". I think there may be some disagreement among EHG on what an uber boss is based on your response, though it's ultimately just semantics. If an Uber is merely a stronger version of a boss that existed already, though, then I suppose Lagonn would win that one. I actually really liked his current balance, where he was a tough challenge that demanded decent gear but was ultimately doable without having to break yourself. I'll give his Uber variant a shot, to be sure, but I dunno if I'll actually beat him (especially since I'm planning a melee build next league, which will put me at a bit of a disadvantge).

"minor changes" was in response to a question about changes to individual set items. They don't need much in the way of buffs to become useful after the systemic changes.

dang it i wasnt clear so lets say there are items that change the masteries passive. ex: void knight master passive echos and grants void damage for stuff and an item changes that to void spells leaving "space pools like aberroth" that deals dot or something. but i figure then the passive tree would need more stuff or something

Good afternoon, i had a question about electrify and its scaling tags. Currently in game i cant find a way for the UI to show the electrify skill UI with the damaging scaling tags. Therefore i am left to use the 3rd party site letools to get that answer. From letools currently electrify only has the damage scaling tags of "damage over time" that's it. Typically for skills like this what have elemental type damage i have found the scaling tag of the matching element (in this case lightning) but it is not there currently. my intention after i finish my ignite warlock is to make a javelin electrify paladin with the "tu'rani's bident". is the only way to scale up the mentioned dot with just dot dmg affix's or relevant damage mods/passives. Or is this just potentially a UI/3rd party error and it actually scales with more then what is shown.
Electrify will scale with dot%, ele dot%, ele%, generic dmg%, lightning%. It doesnt have the lightning tag cuz its in the dmg it does
Also things like res shred, lightning pen will also help

when you switch on the same toon, you lose all the favor. but you can have two seperate toons in each without issue

Why reinventing the wheel. Listen to me: I never had trouble trading/gifting items in any game but this. It is the worst experience ever !!! Playing the games for 30 years and it's mind blowing how stupid this system is. Why not just remove MG/COF and gifting/trading would be much simpler.

You can only cast instant cast abilities while moving. You can test right now by putting the ability in question on right click and holding left and right click at the same time to see what happens.

Is Minion Snapshotting intentional or no? rn you can snapshot a full set of minion gear for abomination then swap into a completely different gear set
It's not but it's technically not a bug either. It's something they're slowly working on. An example is the falcon from falconer not really being snapshot-able (it sneakily gets resummoned fairly often)
so some summons got special treatment? 
I think it's more a consequence of being newer vs older. Hopefully they'll eventually do a pass on older summons to remedy snapshotting for them as well
The Falcon is a very special case. It does a lot of things to make it function that are very sneaky. If it is ever performing an attack (other than basic melee), the actual actor model is disabled and what you are seeing is a skill VFX along the same lines as a fireball that just happens to look exactly the same as the falcon. One key thing about all of these abilities is that it goes off screen. This means that it has distinct times when we turn it on/off. This means that we have very good timing windows where we can resummon it without the player knowing. Other minions are always on screen so we can't pull this same trick. Not to mention that because the falcon is completely invulnerable, it doesn't matter if its health gets restored back to full because it's always at full.
If we had a magic wand that could remove snapshotting from all minions, we would use it. They just don't afford us the same opportunities for seamless resummoning that the falcon's unique interactions does.
Yeah i can imagine the technical difficulties trying to fix that 🤷🏽♂️. Wanted to ask so i can have a correct approach to summons in general

Although someone may have already asked on yesterday's Q&A live stream, I haven't had time to watch it yet. So, Rune of Havoc. I heard that it will have a rarity somewhere between Rune of Ascendance and Rune of Creation. I think this is fine in itself.
MY QUESTION would be if this rune also gets a CoF prophecy. Because if so, its rarity doesn't really matter, because for example, since CoF exists, I can collect 20 Rune of Creation with prophecies in half an hour.
And if that's the case with Rune of Havoc too, then this can cause incredible power creep, or at least dangerously simplify item acquisition. Just an example: I want a Relic, Helm or Chest with T7 Level to a skill. It's been a very valuable, rare item until now, and now i can take an item with a random exalted on it, put a T1 skill prefix on it, and gamble a few times with a couple of Runes of Havoc to get the T7+ skill. I'm not saying it's a bad rune, it's amazing, because it's been a real pain in the ass to get these +skill items so far (especially with CoF), but it's important that it shouldn't be easily obtainable with prophecies either. Currently, the Rune of Creation prophecies are also quite op imo.

Well that might help the target farming people are complaning about in CoF. Since SURE you can get tons of Exalted drop but getting the specific affix you want will still take tons of time in current patch.

As I said, it fills a gap and is amazing. BUT if you get a prophecy for it, like the rune of Creation, I wouldn't farm anything else but the Rune of Havoc and a few items to shatter them for skill shards.

They are also interacting via a shared resource per item in Forging Potential. If you have to use these new runes to get an item to a "starting point" then you'll have less FP for sealing and tier upgrading. They are for sure quite strong but do have some natural balancing too.
and I'm sure we will need to make some tweeks to rates on different crafting elements.

Was something like killing all minions whenever gear is swapped ever on the table? It would prevent using one set to summon and then switching to second more defensive set. No idea if that is anymore feasible than snapshot updates or if it would come across as too heavy handed

The problem with questions like this is we've tested a LOT of options. Yes, we even have this functionality buried in the code still.

That's an extremely large game wide sweeping change that would throw shockwaves through every ability and enemy encounter. A paradigm shift of that magnitude is possible but to fit in at the last second with a beta implementation is not every close to being able to be considered.

there are no instant melee abilities besides vc with unique scepter, so wasd will not have any effect there, its more of a preference choice
You can already do this with point and click
Like for example if you click somewhere and press flame ward while your character is walking it'll get used without stopping your character

we were supposed to get ch10 in 1.2...but that got pushed back. this update is all about endgame, so i wouldnt expect sweeping changes to the campaign, outside of like loot/mob changes/balances that come with cycle patches.
yeah, they normally do a hype week the week leading up to it...but this is a much bigger patch, so, maybe it'll be a bit longer than normal. i'd expect a good chunk of stuff on the interviews to be posted and talked about publicly pretty fast afterwards

Why is Glyph of envy restoring stability to wrong timeline. I want echo to restore stability to lvl 90 timeline not lvl 100/corruption 100. And I did complete multiple echoes from lvl 90 timeline and Glyph of envy keep restoring lvl 100.

Hey Mike, is there a rationale for why Runemaster runes gained from a dual/tri-spec'd Ele Nova just rotate through the element order instead of gaining the rune of corresponding nova element actually cast? e.g. I have Fire and Cold novas spec'd, and runes gained are always F/C/F/C/etc. even if novas cast was actually C/C/C/F
The 3 invocations that correspond with the rune order gained for tri-ele are all area/nova-esque, so feels like it could be intentional?
Also interesting observation, if I cast Runebolt that has both Arcane Overcharge and one of the fire conversion nodes (Blazing Flare or Searing Dart), tri-spec'd Ele Nova reverses the order of runes gained from F/L/C to C/L/F, maybe bug?

Yup, we consider a lot of things though. The Weaver tree is probably a bit bigger and more involved than you're expecting. The tree doesn't fit in the normal still tree window and requires panning to view all of it.

Hey Mike, I was wondering how the team feels about the balance of the dungeon/arena modifiers (the +HP/+DMG for monsters when you enter a new floor, start a new major arena wave)? They seem a bit lopsided and the curve is much steeper than even something like the Empowered Timelines. Can we expect to see any changes to them in S2? I tend to avoid the higher tiers because of how fast things can scale. Sorry for the long-winded question.

im pretty sure in the last devstream mike talked about dupes and so on and he seemed quite confident that they will squash possible dupes quite quickly(all the old ones dont work anymore as well as the way people could manipulate LP crafting(that i know of))
With an increasing number of uniques, Rune of Ascendance, unique/set mono nodes and CoF prophecies have a larger and growing drop pool and thus a decreasing chance to drop the "stuff I want". What strategies does the team plan to employ to sustain the uniquely feel-good targetable nature of Last Epoch's crafting? 🙂

Just to confirm what was already said, yes, all the duper methods that have been found have been fixed (a long time ago). We have also put in place new methods for detection, prevention and correction. We have also put in a method to weed out false positive reports from the community.

Having "Senior" on your job title can mean different things at different companies. Most of the time it means that this is someone you can probably go to for help if you are stuck and get some useful advice.
no fishing. And while I always maxed out my fishing skill in WoW on every character, I'd probably bee advocating for a different style of side mechanic like that.
I'm not sure off the top of my head what (if any) changes to this have happened. I will say that if I were left to my own devices about it, I would probably make all the difficulty progression curves be steeper. When competing on the arena leaderboard is as much a test of endurance as it is skill, it takes something away from it I think.

It's unlikely as they caused problems with the story changes that were made. I think it would be pretty cool if they were to return as like an alternate timeline event quest or something weird like that because I really liked them too.
I think it was designed with the intent that you want to keep your companions alive whereas the Necromancer minions are expendable. This distinction naturally lends itself to having more minions in general if they are expendable. For Primalist, we intentionally design single companion, few companion and many companion build opportunities and let the player decide which they want to use.

It’s been a while, but IIRC the Necromancer passive bonus grants an extra skellie and skellie mage. That’s nice, but it also means if you don’t use those skills you’re missing out. Any chance on a rethink of the passive which doesn’t leave out other skills?
We are currently still very happy with that passive. Those skills and other necro skills are balanced such that you aren't missing out. I suspect that you're feedback is probably that you don't like not taking full advantage of the bonuses your character has.

[resolved] any tips if i cant get the merge to work? nothing seems to happen. Ive tried a few different characters. Currently i cant play mt characters because of rep requirments missing.
edit: for context, i could never get the 1.0 merge to work so i have 1.1 and 1.0 now that both wont merge.
edit 2: after finding a legacy character of mine, it worked. this is resolved.

We are continuing to add to the quality of the moment to moment combat through those types of things. It's an ongoing effort that has been part of the last several major updates.

Some uniques will have changes and some won't. Sometimes an item can get incidentally buffed or nerfed based on changes that happen elsewhere too. Maybe there is an item that gives a TON of some stat like fire res shred chance and a new node gets added to a skill tree that scales off of your uncapped fire res shred chance. Suddenly that unique got buffed without actually having any changes happen to it.
This is a hypothetical example, we don't have this exact example happening exactly like this.
Many uniques did get direct balance changes too.

almost exactly this happened with the introduction of net, rainbow edge is suddenly a bis weapon because you can scale shock chance and it's the only unique one-handed melee weapon in the game with shock chance on it. suddenly the unique is buffed without a single direct change

Will we see similar overhaul to death seal/lich as for Volatile reversal in the future, or its not really fair to compare the issues they have to VR?
It's similar but I'm not sure if it's really quite the same comparison because death seal only affects lich whereas VR is available to all. Also Death Seal's primary effect is damage at a cost where VR has a completely different main effect.
This doesn't really matter, I just wanna say that my favorite build is a beastless beastmaster that plays like a chainsaw, and there's no real solid uniques that feel good to use for it...best weapon i've been able to make work is Merophage and i'm kinda meh on it...

Every class is getting many buffs and nerfs so it depends on what type of Shaman you're playing.

For example if enemy has 4 stacks of doom that were applied with skill that gives 400% more dmg to doom, but 2 of those stacks are half expired and you use a skill with 100% more dmg to doom to apply a new stack, will it be applied over half expired stack(even tho total dps will be lower) or be ignored
99%sure it overwrite the oldest stacks
some of them will overwrite oldest stack some of them will overwrite if the new stack that's trying to get applied will do more total damage than the remaining damage of the existing stack

There are very different things you get from feedback from people who have different levels of integration with the development team. It's a wide spectrum from the person who put the thing in the game to someone who has never played any video game before. All of those perspectives are very valuable for different things.
When you have a testing team that is used to seeing certain quirks or has access to certain advanced tools or has seen the elements go through the design and development process, you get very different feedback than when you put the (mostly) finished product in front of an experienced player. Having that player reception and feedback is very important to upping the quality of the game that gets released to the public. I'm not sure there is a really good way to replicate it without a program like the CTs.
If it makes you feel any better, there is 1 big thing left that the CTs still haven't even heard whispers of yet. Should be just finished up today actually.

There are some new bosses that we've teased but not fully revealed but I wouldn't call them pinnacle bosses. They are fixed difficulty bosses and are solid achievements.

"Rare enemies in your Tombs and Cemeteries of the Erased have a small chance to drop that timeline's boss specific rewards. Timeline boss reward drop chance: +0.1% per point"
My question is does Circle of Fortune interact with these new faction nodes? eg. Does that "0.1% per point" essentially become a higher number due to CoF rank bonus?
My concern is that the loot bonus benefit of CoF to compensate for no market might end up becoming diluted by new systems if they don't interact
Yea, it's something we grappled with a lot. I think the better game overall is worth the day 1 guides.

If I were to guess, I'd bet they interact kind of like you expect. Like... COF gives you a higher chance to drop with higher LP and for sets to drop together, and weaver chance gets a chance to drop boss rewards. So if it makes you drop a boss unique then that drop would have a higher chance to have LP, or if it makes a boss drop a set piece, it'll make the whole set drop, etc.
That's not what the question was really about. There's a CoF rank that gives you a higher chance to drop boss specific loot. They were wondering if that applied to the tree node

This is generally true of all flat loot sources, right? Everything that boosts tradeable loot should be multiplied by CoF. Otherwise, MG gets a huge additional advantage

is channeling a skill not considered directly using it? there was an upcoming bug fix listed in the last eterra monthly for warpath that said "Warrior's Fury now only applies to direct uses of Warpath" which implies that it's possible to directly use warpath, unless that bug fix really just means "warriors fury can no longer be used"?
It's one direct use - but because of the way warpath is coded, none of its hits are direct melee attacks. Reen is kinda weird. Most similar effects say something more along the lines of "when you directly use a melee attack that hits" and I think those proc once per channel of warpath.
TBH I would just report that as a bug, either Eye of Reen should be granting stacks with Warpath or the description should be updated to explicitly state that it doesn't work with channeled skills. In my mind "not a direct melee attack" means you're doing something like casting Smite and triggering melee Healing Hands. Warpath might be considered an indirect melee attack behind the scenes, but it doesn't make sense from a player perspective. Edit: Cleric's Hammer on Healing Hands has the same problem IIRC.

The question isn't about why we only get 1 proc from healing hands, that i completely understand. The question is why warpath can't generate any stacks of reen's ire (it doesn't do 1 stack per channel, it doesn't ever generate any stacks) but sounds like the answer is "we need to rewrite that tooltip", which is fine

You can actually do a ton with the search on discord, you can even search when something was sent, as in before a day&time, during a day&time or after a day&time as well as if it had any type of link, image, video and so on.
But yeah as a basline for searching on this channel I'd always put in:#👨┃ask-the-devs-not-support-no-bugs from: the_madd_hatter (Mike) and then any key words that you can imagine being in the answer.
However that won't always give you a result since a lot of questions have quite simple answers like yes or no or whatever so it can be good to remove the from mike rule and only look at messages other people have sent to see if someone else asked the same qusetion that you have.
Good morning, I'm curious if there anything that was shown in the recent trailer release that "shocked expectation" from a dev's point of view. Particularly in a negative stance, now this is not to say it was a bad take or received negatively. More as LE members really expected this portion of the video to get more people talking or excited. Maybe there was something overlooked or overshadowed that its "shocking" the community missed it. I'm not asking or trying to pry out new information just solely focused on what was shown in the video.

I'm not a "big arpg streamer" but I did talk about it in my trailer review, honestly the whole faction as a skill tree is awesome. It introduces agency into your bonuses. If anything I would love to see similar for existing factions

No, I'm Scipo0419 on the forums. I think the link sent you to a specific comment rather than the thread header. I'm less asking for a response to a specific comment and more a general response to the concerns raised in the thread.
Namely: there seems to be no cost or limit to Mastery Respecs which many fear will lead into meta builds for leveling, then swapping to the meta farming build and then swapping to the meta bossing build since there's no penalty/limit.
The fact that EHG had the stance of "Mastery = Class" this entire time and now it's suddenly changeable? Is allowing us to change from Sentinel to Rogue next?

I'd also like to point out that your last reply was 4d ago, before that was 6d ago, and before that was 10d ago. EHG_Kain's last post was 6d ago, 16d before that. The other EHG members don't have any recent responses. I can go to Reddit and see multiple dev responses just from the last 24 hours, and obviously you're here active on Discord. Which, personally, I find to be a problem given that the forums are "official" but dead to dev responses while reddit is third party and discord is more of a chat room than an actual forum.
Not trying to tell you how to run a business, but I do want to express how odd it is that your "official" forums receive less attention than the alternatives.

Of course. Not suggesting they abandon reddit. Just that they pay some more attention to their official forums. Crate has official forums and still manage to respond on Reddit and Steam Forums, but their main focus is their official forums (as an example)
i mean the quality of a 'tree pathing' game system isn't measured in the number of nodes it has, but in the impact those nodes have on gameplay. and from the teasers we've seen I'm sure it'll be good in that department.
I think that if we aren't willing to change systems in the game because that's what we thought was best before, we will not thrive. And if this does cause problems, we won't be afraid to change again. You're right though, having meta builds for different stages of a character's progression was one of the primary reasons that we didn't allow mastery swapping in the first place.
I think what is actually going to happen though is that people who are trying to push through the campaign as fast as possible don't really spend a very high percentage of that character's time in the campaign and will probably just do what the character is planned to be right from the start. It's not like Warlock gets through the campaign twice as fast as a Necro. And even if it did, we're still not talking about much time for someone who is min/maxing that experience.
I think that not having mastery respec available can cause situations that just take the wind out of a player's sails. I don't think that having mastery respec in the game will cause the same level of frustration. I think the problem case that we should be on the lookout for and could potentially correct for, is switching builds frequently once you're already at end game. The new level of variety of activities that will be available means that frequent switching for activity type could become a very inefficient method. And maybe I'm out of touch but I don't see this happening very much with players currently having the ability to do this within their respective classes.
I think that some people might also be forgetting that skills still need to be leveled.
I think this also will open up the conversation in the community a bit more about mid season balance changes. I want to do more of them to keep the game fresh and interesting. I'm not sure that this will have any effect on it but I hope it does.
As for class switching, that's an easy one to draw the line at. Having a marksman switch to a bladedancer can be viewed as the person getting a new job. Having a Rogue switch into a Primalist is a whole lot of surgery.
As for the forums v everywhere else comparison. I think the amount I respond here kinda skews the comparison a lot. This platform is just so much better for quick replies in a single place that I can leave open all day long. The forums take WAY more time to find appropriate places to reply in. I often feel like a thread executioner on the forums because a good discussion will be happening and I show up and suddenly the topic just crumbles. I realized this a couple years ago and I probably subconsciously slowed down my replies. I do read a lot of posts on the forums but want to keep the discussions flowing. I think that overall we are exceptionally communicative as a studio. Replying to this channel and on reddit (my two personally most active platforms) is what I do in my personal time. Most of my replies on both platforms are while I'm sitting on the couch or waiting in line for something.
also I'm not sure who on the team is brave enough to go to the steam forums but I don't even read those any more for any game.

I'm not a game dev, just an avid gamer, but I truly feel the best middle ground behind your previous design philosophy and preventing players from finding out they hate their Mastery and don't want to start over is the D2 Route. Give us three quests throughout the campaign that give a Respec token that allow us to Respec the Mastery. That way you can start with Bladedancer, use one token for Marksman, one token for Falconer and have the third to go back to Bladedancer or Marksman if you dislike Falconer. This gives players a chance to experience the other masteries if they dislike the one they chose while also preventing endgame meta swapping.
If the main reason is to prevent endgame meta swapping, I think we would need to see that emerge as a real problem before it was addressed. It's already possible to do it to some degree and I almost never see people handing out advice to do frequent respecs at endgame. I see people suggesting advancement benchmark respecs but I don't think that is problematic.
I don't dislike the idea of doing the D2 approach or some other limiter and it is still on the table.
Ultimately the decision has already been made, so I'll stop taking up your time. Thanks again for the responses and taking the time to hear out some of the concerns being expressed
To be clear, this isn't set in stone forever and can still be changed, even after the patch goes live.
Have a question regarding factions and how it seems so far when a new faction is added endgame gets more depth and complexity (which I'm all for). Is this the current vision for the studio and somehow incorporate seasonal mechanics when that gets going? Or at some point factions would roll out like a season unless stated it will be core?
Seasonal factions are possible in the future. Especially if we get to the point of having several. There is a point where we will have too many if we just keep adding one every season. Factions are a good framework for adding new mechanics because we can use a shared language to describe it and interact with.
I think major content releases going forward can include 0, 1 or more new factions and those could be core or seasonal. (which I know is just saying that anything is possible, sorry)
All good just wondering where the vision for endgame is heading from ya'lls perspective. Like where you say "yea, endgame is solid now." Prob a ways a way but I believe we'll get there. Go EHG!
I really like the idea of eventually getting to a place where you have like 3-5 "optional" factions (aside from MG/CoF) and you choose a faction that comes with an associated passive tree like weaver. So you "specialise" into a type of content based on your faction choice. With the option to pivot and change if you want to mix up your strategy.(like changing mg/cof but not as difficult)
This broadens the depth of the endgame offerings without creating the poe1 bloat of every map has 8 mechanics on it.
So, to clarify, any +flat curse damage will be affected by the curse's added damage effectiveness as it would be for any other skill.
And also to be fair, the amount of EHG posts on their forum has decreased significantly over the past few years. It's rare to see a post from someone from EHG now on the forums, but some years ago there was a healthy dialogue (on the forums, as well as here).

Sorry I should have clarified that there doesn't seem to be a significant cost. Most players will be rolling in Gold so a Gold cost doesn't amount to much of a penalty. Basically, with the current system you can remove the choice of a Mastery entirely and just charge us the cost of respeccing the passives and penalty for skills. There's no significant difference between the upcoming system and a No Mastery system imo
Edit: in fact, a No Mastery System gives more build variety because you won't be locked by the "half of a passive tree" system and your only limit is the number of passive points.

Have you guys considered some method of switching resistance around on gear that doesn't involve forging potential? It's rough to find an awesome upgrade but you can't equip it without changing 4 other pieces of gear because it would brick your resistances. PoE for example has the harvest bench as a relatively cheap and easy way to switch resistance around without needing to regear half your character to ensure you're still capped
Will we actually encounter the weaver npc?
idols work pretty well for this, that said, being "capped" isn't that important in LE due to how the resistance math works
That's basically how all things in LE come about! Someone internally has a cool idea or sees a cool idea suggested by the community and pitches it and then if approved we make it! There's a lot of openness to new ideas and agency to influence the direction of the things you work on at EHG, which I really appreciate. Being able to see something through from idea to implementation to release is a great feeling 😄

Can I ask what inspirations did you guys draw on for the monolith update? Was it mostly other arpgs, or more of a mix from other genres and games, like roguelikes/roguelites, crpgs, etc? Any specific examples of feelings you were trying to replicate from games you played a long time ago?
PoE 1/2 are a pretty big inspiration for this update. Not necessarily the specifics but the general player agency in a growing activity space for end game content. There aren't a ton of other examples that I'm aware of which really go this far. (I'm sure they exist though)
Will the weaver tree feature any sort of modular bonus? Like how POE passive tree has gem slots, and gems are a randomized/modular item which differs for each player - or is the tree static and every player has the same one

on one of the dev streams recently you mentioned that some of the upcoming crafting changes would change the way that people build their loot filters. I definitely see what you mean with the new runes that we have seen. Question is, will the loot filter also be getting upgraded with this update to have more options?

We are still interested in bringing character customization to LE. It will not be available in Season 2 and I have no idea when it might arrive.
i've been wildly speculating in other discords today just to get the conversation going after mike commented that there was less than he expected
What's the prevailing theory? I'm not going to confirm or deny it but I'm interested to know what people think. I saw someone get the set items perfect months ago and was very impressed.
the prevaling theory so far is "how are we supposed to speculate on what these nodes do we have zero information"
I don't think I've seen any consistent idea emerge that people seem to agree on other than a rough guess at how many nodes and points we'll earn (somewhere around 200 nodes and 60-80 points total is my current guess)
Well we do have a bit of info but overall yeah i agree its too little to really start speculating
Aside from point count as we did see hoe much the faction roughly gives and that a t3 echo gives 2 which gives made me think that the t2s might give 1 and the t3s might give 3/4 so the total would be in the 60+ region but that does seem like a lot so.... Who knows
If i Inderstand you correctly yes the portal charm can be used together with a key to port to the boss from the dungeon entrance (theres also a second charm that does sth else as well)
I guess we've been a little too cryptic. Some of the terminology is very similar and can be confusing without a clear explanation. I'm sitting here with perfect information about the system so it's hard to consider properly. I just jump to the right answer. We have shown a few of the node tooltips on dev streams.
oh... yeah I kinda assumed that was a given as well. I think people generally get the idea of the system, it's a skill tree we get points in by doing [stuff] to progress the faction and also [other activities including completing (some? all?) woven echoes and maybe some other activities]. Then just estimating numbers based on how much of the tree we think we've seen from the little bit we've seen
but if you're asking what people think those nodes will actually do I haven't seen much consensus arise outside of what has been explicitly shown and the concept that we are controlling what activities we are farming. Some nodes look like nodes from skill trees so even though the icons are familiar they don't really have a meaning in the context of this new tree we're seeing.
We have seen the arena node, probably a safe guess that the others have similar themes. Maybe you can change or boost echo reward types? Maybe you can make echos more challenging and rewarding? Modify monster density / monster types? Maybe change the ratio of received gold / xp / items from running echos?
Maybe you can increase the occurrence and/or magnitude of existing systems? (eg. Exiled Mages, Shrines, Nemesis)
Maybe force maps to just have a bunch of strong rare enemies?

I think we can also say a bit more about the square boxes. I think Mike worked on them and some of the things said on stream tie into it. Like Mikes epiphany on how to do unique collection tab without taking the item. They are likely a way for us to target farm. Could be tied to specific events as well.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Season 2 isn't changing how dungeons are unlocked. (we aren't using 1.2 terminology any more)

People were getting a little confused before
Since cycle 1 was 1.0, cycle 2 was 1.1, and cycle 3 was going to be 1.2
They then changes over to saying that 1.1 was cycle 1
But people are really used to saying season
So they changed to saying that 1.1 was season 1 and 1.2 will be season 2
Will uber abberoth be locked to online cycle only until a confirmed kill just like 1.1?

Is there concern at all about how much more difficult it can be to scale defenses alongside offense if you're not able to scale ward? Consider endurance and how much investment it needs to be good enough, and how much easier it is to invest in ward, which is also stronger. Are there any ideas on how to elegantly address that disparity?

Good afternoon, i was wondering if one day it would be possible to see a Multiplayer and a Single player faction come out together. If i remember correctly from previous dev statements its important to keep the balance between the two being even so one playstyle doesn't become the must do or your missing out. I understand this could go a million different ways, but maybe something as simple as single player faction could give the player passive buffs to offensive stats while multiplayer could just simple give buffs that just applies to allies and ally minions. Or maybe a new passive skill tree that one part is solo play buffs and one part is multiplayer buffs and you just respec as your play experience changes. Additionally, just to add-on to this idea this could be a precursour to guild faction/passive tree/buff. I made sure to post this in suggestions first before asking the dev's opinion on the idea. i posted here in ask dev's as well as suggestions as in the threads for suggestions i haven't noticed feedback (of which i get there's a lot of players and only so much time/resource's in a day) and i was just curious what was the opinion of is this even a possibility,
Considering multiplayer technically already has the advantage of having multiple loot pools to share from.... (Party members can pass drops freely between each other.)
iirc devs have said in the past that it is intended for a group of players with optimized synergistic builds to perform a bit better than solo, but if you just group up with no coordination or synergy it shouldn't be better

how is attack speed calculated if you are dual wielding weapons with different base attack speed? does it choose the faster one? the average of both? do they both calculate separately? main hand?

iirc for the flat attack speed it's average but then attack speed increase from both is applied to that speed, not to the weapon it's on before averaging
hello, will Multishot receive some damage buffs and much needed love in general with the start of the next season? Drelkors Compass by the way has basically double the effective LP level AND required to equip level compared to the valor unique bow with the falconer + level skills, that falconer bow not only has half effective LP chance compared to drelkors AND gives you way more damage and utility than drelkors by far.
Re: the "34%" Weaver skill tree node rolling 102% and having 2% chance to roll even better version.
You ever thought of having "double dungeon" type of encounter? Reach end of dungeon (or map or upcoming cemetery) but there's a random chance it will continue into more difficult encounter (through a portal?), no necessarily something more difficult that instantly gibs you (people already push higher difficulty than they should), maybe more difficult in other ways like x5 scaled HP, longer encounter, boss rush type (maybe new champions being dropped in one after another)

I'm curious if i figured out how the cocooned unis's work it was mentioned previously (i believe last Fridays dev stream) that once the uni drops its already decided what it was (if i heard correctly). i noticed in the trailer that there is the uni neck "pearls of the swine" with a min of three versions shown. each version is the same with the exception of the uni mod that affects the skill being different for each pearl. So what I'm assuming is all the cannoned items are basically the same except the unique skill mode varies depending on the variant that rolls. Now this falls into the asking for spoilers department soIm fine with cant say answer. I just wanted to say if that is how it works i think that is a sweet new twist to unique's.
