Is there a way to know what type of damage an enemy does? For example getting my ass kicked by a certain enemy type and knowing what I need to stack resistances for without guessing?
The on-death message will say what damage type killed you, though that's not ideal for learning. Most things deal Physical damage to some degree, and the color-coding of non-physical damage is pretty consistent.
What ash said basically, really look at the colour of the attacks coming in. What enemy is it?

No enemy in particular, obviously i've narrowed down dead people are necrotic. Animals are probably physical etc. But the bird people i'm not sure. But adding that to FAQ sounds amazing because google shows nothing 🙂

- What does "poison duration"? If poison lasts 5 seconds on will damage average damage, or dmg/second will be smaller?

hello devs! i might have few questions regarding the future of last epoch.
in the last weeks ive watched many mainly PoE or D4 streamers and it seems like especially since the announcement of the delay for 3 months it became pretty wide spread in growing interrest in the arpg community and got lots of good reviews of people saying:
"thank god they do delay it because last epoch is a unpolished diamond that could make blizzard and GGG sweat if polished the right way over the next coming months".
but they also stated that they fear over the sustainability of the game over a longer period of time considering the fact that last epoch shall become a "live service" just like D4 and PoE with season like cycles. in detail they stated that it might be pretty harsh to sustain this even for a good game with such a small dev team to only charge 34$ from the player maybe some ingame cosmetic shop items but deliver big content updates including a full season every 4-5 months or so. so i would like to know if you can maybe address that fears people have in someway or how you feel about this?

I'm sorry we don't provide #support in this channel. Steam Deck is also an unsupported platform so difficulties are to be expected. There are some knowledgeable #❔┃ask-the-community members who have gotten it to work and will probably have tips and tricks for you.
I have not used it myself at all so I'm not sure if this is the case but switching to proton might do the trick.

I can't go into any sort of details on our financials. We spent 3 years pumping out very significant patches at a rate of 3-5 a year. (We did pause this to get multiplayer out the door but we are back to it.) We've got the processes in place for this sort of development style. As we have gotten closer to release, we have been preparing for the full pressure of doing this on a released game and I have complete confidence in our ability to keep up with it. We are already preparing content for 1.1.

I don't know if its just me, in LINUX still playable but
I don't know why steam always update the game everytime shutdown and open my computer.
The files are becoming window files like ".exe" even I did not click force compatibility.
I have no problems in linux, no crash so far only graphical bugs but it does not affect gameplay. But steam always forces me to update files even i did not click force compatibility. I have to re-update it again because my protonexperimental is having a problem. It is always like this please fix.

at least you chose the right decision with delaying instead of releasing an unpolished product risking all the work you did before with all heart you put into the game unlike others so im with the streamers in this case that delay might cause an outrage at first but is ultimately much better and less troubling for developement
Yea, we were prepared for a big backlash on the delay. It went over surprisingly well. I know it was disappointing but I think it's going to be much better long term.
this might be because most companys nowadays go the other way. releasing an product in unfinished even desolate state and then trying to rob even more money out of their customers later even through their game still is in desolate state. so im quite sure people were just amazed that theres still companys that go the other way and just want to make a great game instead of only thinking how they can get money

well....if you open up the appearance tab in your character sheet, you can see all the categories that we are planning to include cosmetic items for. At the bottom there are 5 slots for ability MTX to be equipped, so yup, we will be doing ability cosmetics.

You get a very small increase to the chance for there to be LP - you can see the chance% for each Unique on LETools, and iirc that's calculated for Level 100 areas
in version 1.0 there will be no improvements in this direction, right?

Hey Mike! Super excited to be getting this game soon and delving into it. I wanted to ask, with LE I believe I heard there will be MTX. Seeing the blizzard survey for D4 and the potential P2W aspects they may be adding has me worried for that game. That being said, LE will never charge for power or convenience in any form, correct?
Not Mike, but I can answer! The plan is for all MTX introduced to be Cosmetic only, no power boosts, no pay to win or pay for convenience!

so ive noticed that theres a bunch of skill traits that create sub-skills and when you go to get more info on it. the tooltip to the sub-skill is hidden behind the tooltip to the skill trait. any plans by chance? or is it a "My screen is to big" issue

That one is actually already fixed come to think of it. The issue is that it's using the previous node position to calculate where it should go. If you move the cursor off that node and then back onto the same one, it should position correctly in the live version. (It's a race condition)
your correct that it works on the rh side of the screen. but ones on the LH dont seem to do that for me. they spawn under the tooltip no matter how many times i move it back n forth

I get not wanting people to power level others in corruption but me and a friend were having a great time playing together even with all the issues up until we realized one of us wouldnt be able to progress corruption if we played together

Does this node "Guidance of flames" in the flame rush tree (granting 75% more dmg multiplier) to the flame rush also apply to the invocate proc'd (Epilogue, flame rush tree) when I use flame rush? Or does this damage multiplier only specifically apply to flame rush, and not the invocation that comes from that flame rush use?
No, Runic Invocation is not a subskill of Flame Rush, it is a separate skill with its own spec tree. Only modifiers that specifically state they will apply to that cast of Runic Invocation will apply (such as the 1.25x mana multiplier).

No. Rarity is the same as rarity of the unique itself.

They pool is the same pool as the normal unique drop pool. Eg:A lot, but affected by RNG
Yes, it is limited to any dagger that can randomly drop. So no boss uniques.
If you are playing with another person in your party, when you transition to a new zone a fresh server has to be loaded for you. If you are playing alone, the current server can be used in place and you don't have to wait for a new one to start up so it goes way faster.

This might be a dumb question, but is it possible to craft, for example, a 3LP Shroud of Obscurity that's Acolyte only but force it to be a Rouge item if I were to slam it with a rogue affix in the eternity cache?

You can't place items with conflicting requirements in the eternity cache at the same time. So you can't place an item with a rogue requirement and an item with an acolyte requirement in the cache at the same time. It won't even let you put the item in, let alone close it in there. Same goes for any future requirements like MG and CoF. Conflicting requirements can't be placed in the cache at the same time.

The timeline is unlocked for you if you complete an echo in it with them, and you will gain stability. You will be able to get loot as long as you have enough stability when you fight the boss.
I am assuming you have not unlocked empowered (that unlocks all timelines for you), so if your friend is running the empowered version of the timeline, you will instead unlock and gain stability in the non-empowered timeline. You will not get boss drops from the empowered boss, but you will get kill credit for unlocking the next monolith (as usual) and will be able to open your own non-empowered boss fight with enough stability.

Is health and mana regen going to get more support in the future?
I'll answer here as it's the weekend, but obvs not a dev. Health regen has quite a bit of support across multiple masteries and builds. LE is intentionally a low mana Regen environment, however, and devs have pretty clearly stated they never want players to not have to worry about mana management a la diablo2 or Poe

Health regen could see more love and mana regen might get more options but you probably won't see a significant increase to the maximum mana regen potential.

We are interested in finding a reason to have a clan style system in the game but right now it would effectively just be a group chat channel.
something like a clan stash similar to Poe might be a reason, if you and your buddies want to enable some form of sharing of items, but I could see that being an issue with trading

They've said they want clans to be more than just a glorified shared stash/chat channel. Plus having it would circumvent the trade faction for everyone in the clan.
We can't do that. It enabled free trade.
One of the trade ideas that made it pretty far was a limited clan trading ring type thing.

I’m curious why the aversion to a “group chat” guild functionality. POE (aside from guild stash) and D4 guild systems are effectively that (a group chat). And while I do wish they do more with the (guild) system, the guild chat channel does help a ton to coordinate in game activities among guildees/friends.
It's not really an aversion to it. It's that it's just not enough to justify the dev time. If we didn't have more important things to do, it would be enough to do it.

But if it's just a matter of priority, then I understand. I am just abit concerned about the social systems that will be available in game at launch though. It looks like most lfg/coordination work will need to be done outside game (e.g. discord).

No, you wont. Similar to poe and diablo, there will be a permanent "standard" mode and a league / season / cycle (cycle is what its called in LE). If you wanna play in the cycle you have to start over. At the end of a cycle, all cycle characters move to "standard".

It was rejected as a feature from a meeting about a month ago and is not planned as a 1.0 feature.

Ok so no WASD movement but we still have the feedback that clicking too much for movement is a problem. So to combat this, we've given 2 alternate movement control options.
Force Move: you can bind a key to the new move action. This is a keyboard button that is the same as clicking your mouse at a location. So it's the same thing as normal movement but it doesn't need a click.
Controller Support: alternatively you can just use a controller. No clicking required at all.
Now, one last thing, you're possibly wondering why we allow moving and casting in different directions on a controller. Well, it already has enough other shortcomings that it isn't at risk of becoming the best way to play so we're safe.

I'm curious. Story boss health often doesn't reset after a death. Was that ever not the case? And if it's a deliberate design decision to save their health, why is that? Just noticing a fair amount of games with bosses are doing that lately and I'm interested in what leads to that choice.
It's something we've gone back and forth on a few times and I expect will change a few more.
I don't remember all the reasons it is the way it is but I think it boils down to that it generally doesn't affect enfranchised players much so we can just look at the new player experience for the most part. You generally end up with players who maybe die once and then finish it off the second time or players who are so far behind that they will never get it. Having the health reset would probably convert some players into the frustration camp well before they have had a chance to explore all the mechanics yet. The death penalty is 5s + runback. Not very steep at the moment.

We very intentionally don't put power and mf options in the same slots. We want to give you opportunities to buff your drop rates so we do that in a few ways but it never overlaps with power.
That's good to see that we're pretty much on the same page. I hate it when games make you sacrifice power for loot boosts as it often leads to either mf gear being completely worthless or overpowered to the point of being mandatory
Is the game balanced around having all resists capped at endgame at all times or does the game not "expect" the player to have capped all resistances at later stages?
They expect Some amount of it, but it's not PoE's x4 shinanigans.
Having 50% resists at end game means you're taking just 25% extra damage.
Having 0% resists means 75% more damage etc.
It's still important as it covers both hit damage and DoT damage.
i usually aim for 65%+
for all except necrotic can be a little less and poison is kinda whatever
How does Poe have a 4x?
The damage for missing res in PoE is not linear like LE, basically. If you're missing 1% res in PoE you take roughly 4% more damage of that type as opposed to just 1% like LE.
And it gets worse as it goes down (obviously)

Hi Mike, I was wondering why you guys opted for giving enemies resistance penetration instead of just giving the player -1% all res per area level?
I'm assuming it's because you wouldn't want the resistance cap to "move" from 75% to 0. Since otherwise at least I myself think it's a bit more straight forward to understand how much damage I'm actually taking if my "effective" resistance was on the character sheet, instead of having to subtract 75% from it.
I only say this because I've come across quite a few people that seemed to think that LE's resistances are fundementally different from other games like Poe (Not Deias).

If you are a newer player, it's good to max your res. Not knowing this res pen quirk that LE has compared to PoE et al isn't really a detriment to your progression at that phase of your LE progression as a player. Having your resistances go negative feels kinda crappy.
Then on top of that if it were to be reflected in your character sheet and you aren't aware of the system, when you move between zones, your character sheet would update in very unpredictable ways. So, let's say you have exactly 75% fire res. Then you walk to a 10 level higher zone and it goes down to 65%. Ok, now you don't notice right away because you didn't have the sheet open when you transitioned. So you realize that you're sitting down at 65% all of a sudden and quickly move to remedy it. 2 things are likely to happen, both suck.

You try to fix it in place and you craft some fire res onto some gear but your res doesn't go up. So you get confused and craft more. It still doesn't go up. wtf?

You go back to town to fix your resistances. Suddenly it's back at 75%. Ok good, must have been some debuff you had or something right? Go back to adventuring. Couple more zones, oh now it's down to 62%. How'd that happen. Go back to town, 75% again. wtf?
So people who don't know this penetration exists will cap their resistances and maybe skip out on a very minor build optimization. This might sound crazy but most people don't actually understand the 4x damage difference math of 75% res to 0% res. The intuitive way to think about it for most people is that if you remove your 75% res, you'll take 75% more damage. This isn't the case in PoE et al but it is the case here.
The most adversely affected people by this are new LE players but big ARPG players. However, it still just has them slightly over prioritizing resistances.
Very fair reasoning and I didn't think about people not knowing why their res was changing and trying to remedy it on the fly.
Overall I think the system works very well and achieves the goal of not pressuring players to fully cap every resistance like in Poe because it caps out way before getting to that "critical" threshold where each additional point starts mattering a substantial amount (as seen in the graph you guys stick to the more horizontal part while Poe keeps going into the way steeper part).
Thanks for the clarification on why you guys made the choice! Might suggest putting the enemy penetration amount next to the area level though, I'll get to writing that 😛

All putting it next to the area level would do is add clutter which would be unnecessary once one knows about it. Hi Mike, I have got few questions about Fissure
- Does it get Flat Spell from Devotion ?
- Does Fissure mana cost happen even if Smite is procced by idols ?
- Do I get multiples Fissures if I have Unbalanced Scale ?
I'm not entirely sure on some of this so before I go looking to check I'm going to guess from wording.
1. No. Devotion says it gives spell damage to smite specifically. From the wording, I wouldn't expect that to trickle down.
- I was wrong, Yes, it does look like it gets added like any other stat.
- Yes. Fissure happening as a result of Smite has a cost. Doesn't matter what triggered the smite. (this is right, it hard charges you 10 no matter what. no exceptions.)
- No, Unbalanced Scale casts Lightning Blast, not Smite. Fissure is created under Smite targets, not Lightning Blast targets. (this is right, it only does it for the initial smite)

that's a very good point, they might not care about zone level as much. The thing about almost every other boss is that they are in a fixed level zone though. This can be anywhere.

I just want to say, I really like the lightning animations. But, I'm noticing that there only seems to be about 15 maps for the lightning. Need to up that. Because lightning is cool. And more lightning, is more better.

Only a handful of builds from pre-0.9 were really made irrelevant.
And 0.9.2 didn't shake up anything hard enough to make anything invalid now (except maybe Lost Knowledge builds but frankly that doesn't matter much because you just swap to a different ward gen and you're fine), it just added more to play with

When choosing how many affixes to fit on each item in the game, what were some things that resulted in the 2 prefix and 2 suffix on all item types?

Well, we had 3/3 for a long time. The rarity code still reflects that, rarities 5 and 6 are still unused. The most significant thing was just feel. We try to message that feel with adding more affixes and ways to control that.

so like, an affix with only a 2 value range, say 7-8, is ~50/50 to roll either value?

They seem pretty hefty in the art, like a stout idol being slightly bigger than a half liter soda bottle/can. With an adorned idol being maybe dinner plate sized in area.

what this skill node is doing doesnt match with its discription. first time doing a bow build in LE. is this bugged or has the discription not been changed yet. it seem its random at times. mostly the cone fires in front rather than behind the target

I think respec should be removed for hardcore characters. Hardcore characters should get deleted on death or at least all gear worn should drop or get trashed.

I'm not sure how big they actually are but I like to think of it like a Horadric Cube or TARDIS situation, bigger on the inside. Your whole inventory would probably have to be something like this anyways as it's not like you can carry a dozen suits of armor. I like to imagine that when they are outside of your inventory, the 1x1 idols are like the size of a baseball and the 4x4 idols are about the size of a basketball.

the epoch stores them in an alternate timeline 
The dungeons play double duty on the progression path. They aren't perfect at doing either yet but we're working on them.
The 1st is to be a campaign skip and early monolith jumpstart. The 2nd is for each dungeon to fill specific gaps. For example, a way to spend your gold efficiently.
I guess this doesn't really answer the question very well. They are a sort of supplemental challenge that you drift in and out of as you go. Like as you're going through normal monoliths, you probably do the first couple tiers of each dungeon but they put them on hold to keep doing monoliths and then come back to finish off an item by making it legendary.

one question i have is, how much time theres gonna be between patches after 1.0, how much time we have from season to season etc.
We aren't prepared to lock in a specific patch cadence. Our goal is to roughly keep up with the general industry pace. In the past we've released patches on a roughly 3-4 month pace. I'm being super vague here because we will be releasing the content when it's ready instead of strictly adhering to an arbitrary deadline.

I often hear suggestions/complains about the lack of impact in combat (sounds, effects, etc). Are there plans to remedy or improve on these and is this a low/medium/high priority in the list of things that need to be done by the team?
Hi Mike, I was wondering what you guys thought about socketed gems, enchantments and other systems where you "enhance" gear by putting additional items/properties on them (kinda like lp crafting but with normal items with dedicated materials/Resources).
I think the idol system kinda mimicks the general idea of these systems already by being able to fill in the gaps of some builds and entirely enabling others, but I do also think that being able to invest more resources into single pieces of gear is nice since you sometimes can keep a piece of gear for a very long time in the endgame. And it would give the gear piece a little bit more "progression" past the initial forging.
I think that was a common and very relevant critique 2 years ago. We've added several ways to improve that recently and I think it shows. We will continue to improve upon those systems going forward too. The latest devblog goes into more detail about those upcoming changes.
I'm not sure why specifically on stream but this gets asked there frequently. Short answer is that we love the idea so much that we built the whole crafting system around it because that's basically what the crafting system is already.

right now the loading time for a map has massive differences between high end cpus vs pcs that's a few years old, like 15-20 seconds vs less than a second, since not everyone is able to upgrade to current gens, is it possible to lessen the difference via engine or client tweaks, otherwise it is half a dozen extra maps per hour simply due to loading time differences.
We always have people focused directly on loading time optimization.

I know items on the baazar cannot be traded more than once (like the item binds to your account upon buying it)... but will items bind to your account (not able to be traded) if you use them? If I get a drop, and use that dropped item on a character, can I later sell it or will it be stuck on my account?
It's tricky to think of it like binding because it's not. You can still use the gifting system on items that can't be traded. We struggled with how to display the inability to trade and considered binding but aren't using it.
So, the events which cause an item to receive a faction rank requirement are trading the item or receiving the item through a CoF bonus.
Items with a faction rank requirement can't be traded.
I assume there may be an FAQ-like write-up about the trading systems during the preview early next year?

It doesn't use an ailment. Things that are going to change value like that per point are really tough to do as an ailment if you don't have to. It does stack with no cap.

As for the initial suggestion of 2 more skill bar slots, 1.0 will not have it. Post launch, it would take a pretty big shift internally to cause it to happen. We really like the 5 skill limit a lot.

Does area level have increased chances to drop items that near area level and reduced that have lower level?
Because if yes, that means low level exalts are harder to receive
Technically it does reduce the chance that any one given drop will be a low level base item. It doesn't really matter though because you'll get so many more exalted items at higher level zones that it's just not worth the chance difference. The level of exalted items is generally dictated by the affixes, not the base type too. I'm also curious what the use of a low level exalted item is.
I am trying to receive copper ring, and i thought that it drops so rarely because of low base lvl, but now i guess it is bad luck, because for three days i received like 3 exalted copper rings in total, and a lot of other type rings

Outside accessories, some have special implicits with no higher level version, like Kris or Sickle
That's a good reason to look for lower level ones but I still think you want to be in higher level zones to get a better overall item.

Why does snow in a scene drop more fps as compared to other effects like fire or rain? General gamedev question
Not a game dev but I'd wager it's because of how it is rendered
I've never tried to optimize snow effects myself but I suspect that a lot of the heavy lifting with rain is done with a screen space effect. Most of the time things like this just come down to how many things do you have to use. Fire is generally localized and uses a few sprite sheets. I bet that a lot of snow effects try to do tiny snowballs that render as physical objects.
I'm sure there are ways to do snow efficiently and I'm not sure why snow generally has a big impact but I have noticed the same across several games.
When seasons hit are there going to be season specific mechanics / items or is the game going to be the same for season / non-season players with mechanics / items being implemented both ways ?
Will 1.0 have less mouse-curser based movement with controller? I'm only asking because it's a bit difficult to navigate menus with no vision, mainly because it's difficult to tell the edges of menus/ get an idea of what they look like. Idk if I'm making sense lol.
We want to have as few differences between cycle and legacy modes as possible to start with. 1.0 will be exactly the same except the economy will be fresh and you'll be able to rank on the ladder.
I don't understand the "with no vision" part but menus should all operate nicely with selection frames that jump between active options as you navigate between them. "Cursor-less"
I believe this player is blind or otherwise vision-impaired. I imagine menus are challenging because button and text layout is specific to each menu rather than standardised. 🙂
Wait so bare with me because I'm genuinely a bit confused here. I can't actually see the menu layout, so I'm going off how the right stick seems to react to menu items. Almost like I have to move to options to get to them, like I can't just go down one from graphics to sound settings for example. I had to find sound settings by moving the right stick around until I heard a sound that told me I was on a menu item.

No. As I said above, in 1.0, the only difference is that cycle characters can be on the ladder and will only interact with other fresh cycle characters.
The game environment for cycle and legacy characters during the 1.0 patch will be identical.

Our schedule is so tight that even if someone handed me the finished animations right now, I probably couldn't swing it to get them in.
That was also just 1 piece of the system. That is the biggest hurdle but the next few aren't insignificant and we don't have time for any of them either.
Well currently you have to either check every item and see if it's worth anything or get lucky with gold shrines or some mob drops, I was wondering about a more specific / dedicated way to farm them that's all

Damn, i would have loved WASD movement, a shame it's not happening. PoE2 looks real good and with WASD movement it's a no-brainer to play that game instead for me.
Diablo 3 and 4 have shown just how much fun playing ARPGs is with a controller, not using mouse pointer to move. I've been playing LE with a Steam Controller, which can shift between analogue stick and touchpad. It really makes playing LE great. The only thing I'd reach for actual mosue for is if I'm doing a lot of item sorting

Just to manage expectations: As Mike mentioned technical limitations aren't the only considerations when it comes to WASD movement. WASD movement as most people think of it, moving and attacking in different directions at the same time, considerably changes many gameplay elements. WASD movement makes for a 'very' different feeling game, and we would need to discuss if those changes are something we would want for Last Epoch. Because of the technical limitations we won't be having that conversation until after 1.0. However, that doesn't mean that WASD movement would be coming in the foreseeable future as we may decide that it's not the direction we want for Last Epoch, or that the work required to rework all related systems is too great for the benefit.

It wasn't a serious question, more of a comentary on the other questions asking for WASD when there's already decent controller movement in the game. The only thing I think needs refinement is target selection priority (monsters over destructible environment) and navigation of the UI.

We don't plan to add a Japan server at 1.0. I think we have a SE Asia server that should be giving you better than 150. That is a general region that we do want to have good coverage on so we will look to #1123697853882187847 to determine where we expand servers into. So no promises but maybe at some point.

So right off the bat, I can tell you that we are content locked for 1.0 already. Nothing new gets added. We are in pure polish mode so we won't add this for 1.0.
Having said that, we are very interested in expanding the accessibility options for the game and our development process is not slowing down at all.
We also close the studio for the year on Friday and many of us are already on vacation now. The people who are there are trying to button up an update for our tester program so they can test over the holidays better if they want.
So all this is to say that right now is probably not the most opportune moment to try and figure stuff like this out on our end.
I really just don't want this to get lost in the sauce and it probably needs to be brought up early in January to actually get eyes on it.

Hello! I convinced some friends to play Last Epoch. However, 2 of them constantly have disconnects "Connection lost from server" when they go through a portal. We tried everything. UDP ports enabled. The internet connection is 14ms fast. The internet connection is stable. Both play on good gaming PCs. Does anyone have a good solution. I've already googled everything. They are very desperate. I am grateful for any help!

All of the possible remapping available is in the menu. If you can't do it from there then it's not available.

One of the main points of the game is there to not be too much if a difference between cycle and legacy so that way you can enjoy your character

Where did you see that?
Most classes have tweeks, bug fixes and small adjustments to their passives. Very few have larger charges, Druid is not one of them.
That node is very much an edge case and is not normal at all. We generally do that in situations where the player has taken a combination of nodes that just doesn't quite line up nicely and the way to fix it is to have another node that doesn't really do anything but let the player pick which of the random things to do.
We did kinda break this again when we did Rubebolt though as it has several nodes that are just picking how things like this are chosen. One actually intentionally makes it random.
Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure each of the 3? places that this is an issue is on a Necro summon.

I have tried Aura of Decay, yes. It honestly doesn't feel nearly as good as a true RF or dedicated aura build, it doesn't seem capable of standing on its own as a main damage skill particularly later on. It was the first skill that caught my eye since it seemed to be based on RF.
And while judgement can kind of do something similar, the whole 4 second cooldown thing definitely removes it from the aura category imo.

ok. would be helpful for a 1h javelin build. using a mace, axe or sword to throw spears is pretty counter intuitive and you miss the melee dmg bonus from spears.

i am stuck in main quest, cant get through scorched grove -> solemn path so cant get to herborea and carry on with main quest. Do i need to do side quests to open up waypoints?
no way through
that waypoint in the bottom right is gates of solarum. you fight thru two maps, and should get a cutscene with heorot and rahyeh. after that cutscene, you should have to talk to Yulia, and she should teleport you straight to Heoborea. If that doesnt work, you can either teleport and try again, relog, or ask someone to teleport you to Heoborea in group play

Hello, i was just wondering why some attacks(skills?) are animation locked, and you can't interrupt it with a movement or another skill ? is this by design ?
Technically every skill does this for some portion of the skill. It is intentional. Almost all skills, it's actually less than half the duration of the skill itself though. Generally once the ability object is actually created, there is almost no time where you can't interrupt it with a movement skill.
It is important to note that movement skills can interrupt skills in their follow through earlier than non-movement skills. This is so that when you need to move, you can generally do it more reliably.
Also, just the normal walk command has the same interrupt priority as movement skills.

i've also noticed its the same with [Dancing Strikes] and [Smoke Bomb]
like im not able, during dancing strikes, hit smoke bomb to get the benefits. i have to stop holding down dancing strikes. to then spam quickly smoke bomb until it actually detonates, then go back to dancing strikes. im wondering if smoke bomb also counts as a movement skill?
or also follows the same principles behind move order priority
That's a dancing strikes problem. You can't interrupt it at all.
Each ability is split up into 3 sections.
Preparing, Acting, Follow through.
You can interrupt an ability in the preparing step with pretty well anything and it will stop the ability from going off in the first place.
You can't interrupt a skill in the acting phase. Movement abilities have a particularly long acting phase.
You can interrupt a skill in the follow through with a high priority skill (movement and a few others like I think shield bash and snap freeze for example).
The distribution of each of these stages for a skill's entire use duration is unique to each skill. Dancing Strikes (has a movement element to it) has an unusually long middle section and can't be interrupted very easily. Smoke bomb (not a movement or fast defensive skill) also doesn't interrupt follow throughs. So those two together have a tough go of it.
Instant cast abilities just get around all this and just happen.
Note: we have other names for these phases or steps, I just can't remember what they are right now.

Yup, it calculates the freeze rate based on the chill stacks pre-hit. This does work in your favor the other way though. If you are consuming chill (somehow), it checks pre-hit.

I know it's very easy to post an address where you can get support. But unfortunately this doesn't help the many players. We are a large German Last Epoch community and do a lot of advertising for the game. Unfortunately, a lot of players have the problem with disconnects when they go through a portal. They return the game to Steam and get the Money back. But that is not the solution. We have now tried out many things that are in the support system here. Unfortunately unsuccessful. If you search for it, you will find many players who have the same problem.

Why there are no flat numbers of damage in character info?
The character sheet is probably the oldest primary UI panel in the game at this point. It is in need of a major overhaul. We have had one planned for roughly 3 years now and it just keeps getting cut. It's a bit of an ongoing joke for the veterans at this point.
We do still plan to update it and have the key changes mapped out with the new layouts built but a few of the major new functions aren't set up yet.

This caught my eye the other day when I was thinking of different ways to build Lightning Blast.
I saw this node, completely ignored the nodes prior to it and thought I could have a Lightning Bolt style form of Lightning Blast instead, only to be disappointed that its locked to cold damage due to Supercharged Floes being a prerequisite.
The icon even looks like a lightning bolt! I'm curious as to know why it was decided to be locked to only cold damage despite it appearing as if it would be lightning based.

they're actively making graphical upgrades which have been getting added with pretty much every major patch, and afaik last they've mentioned they don't plan to switch off of Unity but they use an upgraded/customized version of it.

There is no information on when more languages will be added. Once we decide to add more, it does take a considerable amount of time to make it.
We are currently using all of our translation resources to prepare new 1.0 content for languages that we already support.

If the wolf gets eterra's blessing cast on it then it gets the buff.
Like multiple wolves can have the buff if they get the skill cast on them.
It just does what it says it does, you don't get extra buffs on the ones that don't get cast on.

None of the characters are evil but some do tap into darker magic. The Lich, Warlock, Necromancer and Void Knight for example. These are themes we will continue to explore.

This seems like the kind of thing that would have a duration, but there's none mentioned in the tooltip and there's no buff icon on the Abomination to look-see. Does it have one, or does it just stack up and then there until the abomination despawns?
Hi there, i was wondering why i keep using my spell as i m talking with npcs, i m using a rouge and put "dancing strikes" as the left click but every time i have to talk to a quest giver, it moves me away and i have to change spells to the normal attack spell. just wanted to know if there's another thing i maybe missed in the options that can eliminate that problem.

I've been providing feedback on controller use, and do enjoy playing the game with one, however there's things that you simply cannot do and it's highly restrictive, like play an abomination buffed with dread, while you have any other melee minions. Do you plan to accept that controllers may be limited in what classes and builds they play or do you have plans in the works to make them playable?
We aim to fix all bugs but accept that we won't get 100% of them. We won't give up on tracking them down.

Maybe. If it creates a significant advantage, to the point where people are manually editing their resolutions to be tiny playable mega wide spaces on normal screens to be able to do stuff you can't do otherwise then we might make some changes.

PoE lost my support when they removed 32:9 and they didn't even mention that in the patch notes - and to this date they never came back to the topic, not even for PoE 2. D4 has support to up to 27:9 (or 3:1), which is a bit of a weird number because there's no monitor in the market with such a native ratio of 3:1, but hey, it's better than just 21:9 - and again, the devs never say anything about improving it. So please keep doing what you're doing, being communicative is key to success.

I’m only a small streamer right now but I’ll be streaming LE pretty much exclusively once it releases, so I was wondering if there’s anything extra I can do to help promote the game prior and after release? You’ve created a real gem of a game and it’s quickly become one of my all time favourites so I’d love to be as involved as possible. It was great having @quaint spindle in my stream a little while back answering questions my community had, and I specialise in really off meta and crazy builds so I’ll be doing a lot of build guides moving forward too.

Neither the game guide, nor any of the tooltips suggest there's an upper limit on attack speed. However, there's certain mechanics that provide theoretically unlimited attack speed. Is there anything in place to prevent infinite attack speed?
This skill node only mentions a movement speed limit, though hints at limits for attack and cast speed.
The node says "Max Speed Increase". That applies to all 3 speeds mentioned above

It gets very hard when there's many stacking attack speed effects to see if the minion is actually getting any faster.
There is no hard cap for any kind of speed

There is not a wipe at 1.0, you will be moved to legacy at 1.0 (the equivalent of PoE's standard league, or Diablo's Eternal Realm)

How can i change my ascendancy
You can't
You have to run through the Labyrinth, any difficulty will do so you can just speed through the level 33 one, then once you get to the treasure room refund all the ascendency points you've spent, and when you click the altar it will let you choose a new ascendency.

I think they know exactly where they are and are being intentionally just a little obtuse in taking the question literally and answering the question accurately even though they know the question is really asking about changing your mastery.

But yes, they are right, you can't change your mastery class selection. There is a pop up with big red letters that says it's permanent when you do it but I know those are extremely easy to gloss over because we get this question a lot.

I'm sorry, I can't give a clean yes or no on that. We don't like programs which depend on or react to gameplay elements. We don't like programs which modify the game in such a way that gives an unfair advantage over players who don't use it.
Making the game playable on a super low resolution doesn't seem like it falls into either of those categories to me.

The increased health leech on Drain Live for the Lich does not seem to be converting to increased damage using the Hollow Lich passive point. Is this intentional or a bug? Also, Overkill Damage Leeched as health doesn't seem to convert either. Also intended?
I was wondering why do we have a fog of war in non-hostile towns and hubs, what purpose is there to hide info after first visit or campaign completion? Also why can't we use skills there to get around faster? Sorry if this was asked before - Also, happy new year to all the 11th hour team 😄
the skill thing is because when there are (in theory) a bunch of players in towns spamming skills, it would cause too much lag on the server. can barely handle MP groups of 2-4 as it is, imagine 10, 20 people. Though I've never seen that many people in any town ever.
The fog of war thing, I assume, is just for ease. having it turned on all the time as opposed to cherry picking each. and some town maps are used in echoes, so potentially some overlap there for the background structures.
general rule of thumb from the devs, is, if you think it might be a bug, report it. even if its not a bug, enough people report it, might make them word it clearer

Overkill leech only triggers when you actually overkill them, so hollow lich converting it doesn't matter since they're already dead when it triggers.

Skills were disabled in towns presumably to reduce the amount of stuff happening so that the servers didn't melt due to a bunch of people with minions & using skills. PoE also does this.

To make matters worse, cursor changes are weirdly way harder than any other UI customization. We would have already added cursor options if it we had a way.

If a skill has and uses at the same time Physical (Strength), Spell (Intelligence), and Attunement... and I spec into all those points equally... what determines what the skill will pull from? Will it pull from the highest spec'd stat (if allowed), or if all stats are the same does it go in ascending order meaning it will pick one stat and cancel out the others. Or will it combine all the stats' total together?
Skill types and damage types are not tied to stats.
Each skill has their own stat tag. EG:Attunement in your example.
Here is what I am looking at.
Attunement. Look at the scaling part.
Stats =/= damage and/or skill type
Eg:Physical is not tied to str

We do phase out packs. The packs that we did for things like kickstarter and alpha won't be coming back. The ongoing ones aren't guaranteed to come back but aren't prohibited from coming back either.
It has its own chances for each item type that are different from normal drops. It's not really just a single modifier number though. But yea, you should see better results from that that random drop rate.
Recently I've been playing a melee build and carrying around a Last Laugh with 25% cull on it for bosses. It's a bit clunky and awkward swapping weapon mid-fight but feels worth it to delete a quarter of the boss' health bar.
Just wondering about the dev thoughts on this type of thing. Good/bad? Has some sort of weapon swap mechanic been discussed? Or preventing this from being possible in the first place?
We have discussed a weapon swap at length and the current decision is to not include one.
I still hold out hope.
Doesn't weapon swapping to Last Laugh invalidate some build design as it allows you to get culling without having to spec into that via passives or skill nodes. Sure there is an argument to be made that if a proper system would be integrated then weapon swapping would be it's own avenue for player power with opportunity costs associated. But currently I don't really recall many weapons/off hands that could be used in a similar way.
Do you think there is room for this type of design space in the game? How would you intend weapon swapping to be used in LE?
Yea, that's one of the reasons it's not in the game. I think that there probably is room for weapon swapping design space but at this point I would probably look to using it as a class mechanic. Like a pirate that could quick switch their off hand between a pistol and a sword for example. Just to be clear, this isn't something we are planning on adding, just using it as an example of the style of mechanic.

Adding a 3rd way to assign skills to your bar is unlikely. Have you tried using a controller?
Yeah. Is there a way I should be able to do it with the controller? I can go to each skill, assign points, and remove them, but I couldn't figure out how to reassign the skill.
I'm not sure what the command to do it is off the top of my head sorry. Should be a way to open it up though. With a mouse it's just clicking on the skill on your bar without any menu open.

Don't be! I know it's not exactly a focus right now with 1.0 release. I just never know what's purposeful and what's just me not knowing how to access something lol. Like there are screens that still use the right stick mouse movement thing for me for some reason. Main menu, settings, char creation, etc. So I just never know if it's purposeful or not.

I don't think it works right because it ties your steam account to 1 specific epoch account and it might get confused. I think once we have proper offline available (in Feb). It should work offline family sharing. I don't know if we've even considered it as an option though.

Hello i have question for the upcoming factions , if i chose to play the solo faction with more drop and after some time i wanna switch to the trade one , what happens to my items ? can i still use them (probly cant trade them since it looks unfair) , are they going account bound or sompthin ?
Circle of Fortune is the non-trade faction but in no way restricts you to playing solo.
Items found as a result of your CoF bonus are tagged with a CoF rank requirement. There is no way to remove this requirement. In order for anyone to use a CoF rank required item, they must currently be representing that faction at at least that rank.
When you switch factions, your items remain in your inventory. Their rank requirements are not changed. If you have several CoF rank required items and you switch to MG, you will not be able to use those items while you are MG. If you switch back to CoF you will be able to use those items again.
There is no "account bound" for items. However, items with either faction rank requirement cannot be sold at the bazaar.
None of this affects the gifting system that is already in place at all.

Think this is where they're at still, basically it's something they're looking into but isn't a huge priority since it would need quite a few new moderators and such, there have already been a few unofficial servers that have popped up for other languages though, you might be able to find one for you ^^

For gifting in CoF - The current Item Gifting Mechanic will remain, if an item drops while you're playing in the same instance the nit can be freely gifted.
If you weren't playing together at the time the item dropped, then a new mechanic call Resonances will allow you to gift those items to players you have spent a significant time in a Party with.

FSR is not available in the version of the engine that we are currently using and will be using for 1.0 launch. We do intend to upgrade the engine at some point but we don't have a set date of when that project will be finished by.

A stable 50-75fps is enough for me. I'm not that demanding.
We are constantly working to improve optimization. Very recently we cut down the RAM requirements to get a clean startup for lower end systems.
For example, I was only able to play Diablo IV thanks to FSR (just at the limit), unplayable natively.
I don't mean so much the RAM requirements - more the graphics requirements.
But I am aware that with an APU I am not a benchmark. Totally legit!

Is there a particular reason that shards aren't automatically sent to crafting items storage when they are clicked on/picked up?
Question about the helmet "Prismatic Gaze". It says it releases the prism shards after a skill that costs 40 mana is used. Does this mean the base skill's mana cost? What if a node within the skill can change the cost to more than 40 mana will it still trigger or is it only factoring in the initial skill cost?
