love arpgs been playing since d2 but i get so bored after a time using the same skill over and over and over again
A lot of it does come to it just being more beneficial to concentrate on 1 or 2 skills for dmg and having other skills be more supportive
Gearing for example affects this
In LE you can only really get a lot of the + lvls to 1 skill for it to become way higher than the others
And ofc it makes sense that this should be your damage skill
Actually in Grim Dawn a lot of builds aren't 1 skill button builds

Guys, few things about corruption are unclear to me. Does the rune require forging potential or not? I guess not? Can you brick an item by corrupting?
You can make an item unequippable by corrupting (but it's a rare outcome)
I don't remember if it requires FP or no.

nothing you do filter wise today is going to be 100% correct on launch. but you can get most of it set up, but it will need tweaked

hope there's more "idol altar" variants then what was shown. I use 4 2x2 idols. and not a single variant in that quick tease of them had "corrupted tiles" that also fit 4 2x2 idols
and all 4 2x2's are mandatory
if I'm not mistaken the purple slots in the variants boost the idols that hit those
so maybe you could still get away with less than 4 of those

yeah my build is very weird but fun at the same time. I use a harmony of the first one alongside 4 aftershock idols too make what I call the "DoT Quaker". Extremely unique and fun

The purple slot generates some kind of special effect we still don't know about.
it's more then just the "moved tile" it's a corrupted tile. You can see in the trailer someone puts a idol into it and their idol "corrupts" so it will also have some type of effect on your idol you slot into it

The Rain of Arrow passive is the most useless passive node in the tree. I hope they will rework it to somehow synergize with HoA itself

Marksmans is specilized on attack speed and her signature skill is detonating arrow which is bottlenecked by mana regen...
i wanted to mix it with HS and dagger procs to stack ignite

People are allowed to voice their complains for a paid product aren't we? Last league people already voted with their wallet and if company had to be sold so stay afloat. With a peak of 88k, that died out ot 10k in day 3. People expect content, cry babies feed your game.
Also if they put out content only once / year (which they haven't done so far) they're not going to get people paying to keep the studio up

Random guy here, i think a lot of us really do want the game to succeed but it just isn't in the best spot right now, it's in a self destructive cycle right now, long waits reduces players, reduced players causes long waits due to less income, the only thing we can really do is hope they can find a good solution for both problems.
i feel ya. but think of it this way. it took time for the season because of the swap over. now the game has serious money behind it and it also has a lot more hands on deck to make this content. as players we need a good launch to s4 to drag people back in, and i think thell be able to do that
They have hired people but a lot of that was during s4 development..so they havent really worked on all of s4 together. S4 does need to be good and you should see improvement (esp with no direct competition the week of) But a majority of the returns from hiring will be felt in s5
There is only one vicious cycle le monetization is noy profitable = less income=less resources=worse monetization. Their mtx really flopped firstly due to goofy artstyle of body armors, secondly cause devs refuse to look at meta and thinking that if they make serpent strike mtx everyone will be pogging out when in reality nobody plays it. Do we have acid flask mtx? Abomination? Ballistad? Summon bear?

I wouldn't mind if they released seasons once a year if they were good. Season 4 took about 7 months, but the trailer already made it clear that the content is equivalent to a 3-month season. I'll probably play for a week to test out the new skills, and that's it. I'm not going back to grinding monos. I also don't expect bugs to be fixed.

It's a difficult thing to quantify, I wanna just say "major mechanics" but it's too vague. The scope of LE's seasonal updates are consistently underwhelming based on widely shared public criticisms and the exceptionally low retention rate compared to other ARPGs.
I don't doubt EHG has the talent, but with the way content has been released, it makes me question whether that talent is being correctly managed.
Yeah, thats kind of my point that started the entire convo. Lots of people keep saying 'le too small' based on a trailer that we know isnt everything. But when asked what is small vs big no one has an actual answer, cuz it is hard to quantify. But if as consumers we cant give the devs consice feedback on what small and big is, is it really fair to hold the devs accountable for also not knowing what small and big is?
I've seen live service games run by way smaller teams that push out way more content and have way better player retention across seasonal content releases, outside of ARPGs.
It feels like EHG should be able to do way more with what they've got.
I started working at my company when it was around EHG's size and we wrote so much software and pushed out so many new products and feature updates in so much less time, comparatively.
The problem is in "remote". Projects are not pushed to their productive limit when everybody's not face to face.

You do know. You should be able to know how much work is being output, which is the only metric that actually matters: productivity. Is the work getting done as required? If yes, it doesn't matter where someone is working from.

Ideally more than one major mechanic, for me. I don't feel class balancing / rework or pinnacle content really falls under the "major mechanic" category.
LE also receives an unending barrage of criticism from a lot of people frustrated by ongoing issues/bugs, some of which have been present since early access and that probably makes prioritizing content difficult from EHG's position as well. But that debt needs to be handled sooner rather than later IMO.

Yeah its a doubled edged sword. More content also introduces more bugs and more things to break, often times making finding the one actual bug harder

Not really. I don't think the majority of the playerbase will engage with pinnacle content at all. For me, I just want more major endgame content to enhance the core game loop, such as the woven echos but even more stuff.
S4 will be a good measuring stick on if the devs are listening to feedback well enough. S5 will be a good measuring stick on if hiring more people was the answer

The metric that is probably very useful to look at is retention following season launch. How much does the CCU gain or drop over a three week period? A good season will show strong retention for 2-3 weeks and a sharp drop-off starting to form shortly after.

There is a nice buffer on both sides of le season this time
People will come to LE for a few days from the POE 1 league and then go back. The drop off will be rapid. It just doesn’t change enough between seasons and the core issues aren’t addressed. It has the worst feeling combat and probably always will.
Monoliths are fine tbh, I can see how they could work similar to PoE mapping, as a vehicle for endgame content, not the actual endgame itself. So new content within monoliths/echos would be great, yeah.
I hear a lot of complaints about echoes being boring but they do overlap with poe maps a lot and i dont quite get how one is good and one is bad.

I don't think monoliths are fundamentally bad as an endgame design, I just don't think they're good as the endgame. There's gotta be more dynamics to it, endgames within the endgame.

The league becomes much less interesting when the version that is going ‘core’ is what you start with. Rather than an amplified version that gets rebalanced when the season ends
Yeah, you accept the league mechanic might be OP, maybe even design it to be. That's part of what makes a new league actually feel fresh. Season ends, you tune it down and remove all the garbage bits before adding it to the core game.

No that was boring af conceptually. Another mechanic of ‘kill powerful monster’. It’s just another encounter, not really a league mechanic. And it wasn’t worth interacting with most of the time
I think that EHG could have telegraphed beast kill progression better in terms of UI, in the first place. Have a bit of a progression board beyond 1/3 random choice. Show us past selections and future possible selections better, and put a bit of visible branching on outcomes on that board. Maybe have some randomality thrown not just into the post-kill selection options for the next kill, but also in terms of surprising mechanics that can yield better or additional rewards. Balancing mat drops in terms of chances was also a big problem with the beast mechanics. Some drop rarity didnt really make sense.
Additionally, crafting on these materials felt like basic high:low conversion ratio, there wasnt much gameplay around dealing with them, gambling combat on them. It felt like a chore having to summon and kill those beasts as often as we had to in order to "buy" some of those primal items. in general, im not a huge fan of this linear grinding cycle in order to gamble on a best-in-slot. What happened to rare drops that ignite excitement by pure rarity of them dropping
Add beast gameplay mechanics to all of that. These beast just weren't really engaging in combat
I agree with the UI. IDK how many people know certain skills for beast are locked cuz of pre-req skills. And having some really nice things locked on those locked skills
I also would have liked having some legit drop only uniques outside of evos end.

It may not be enough. We'll see how player retention looks in S4 during the first few weeks of the season to gauge whether it was enough or not.
No seasonal game keeps it's seasonal launch numbers. Not even the heaviest hitters
Of course not, but retention is a metric that matters a lot, and how long that retention lasts is specifically of great value. The "heavy hitters" as you put have strong retention for at least three weeks. LE's past couple of seasons dropped off hard, well below the expected retention figures.
LoL goes from like 12million to 1m in a week on season launch, PoE1 goes from like 700k to 30k in a month
Losing 90% of your players in a new season or league after 3 weeks is normal and not a bad indication. But LE loses 90% of its players within the first week.

that's how seasonal games work. Log on, have fun and hit lvl 100 in like 1-2 weeks, if you feel like min-max optimizing your build you stay and if you don't you log off
That is not in fact how seasonal ARPGs work, in terms of success metrics. Engagement falling flat after just one week is in fact not normal in the ARPG market. Ask any player who plays PoE, PoE2, D4 the past few years. LE's retention is simply weak.
Like I did this with the current season of PoE2. Wanted to make a super attack speed werebear with procs going off. But all of werebears skills have like a -50% less atkspd modifer on em. No point optmizing what the game actively fights against. Was fun tho
The point isn't that players drop off, the point is how quickly players drop off. If you've played LE seasons, compared them to PoE1/PoE2/D4 seasons, you'll know the drop off in retention for LE is not normal by comparison. Acknowledging this reality is the first step to recognizing that LE has major problems with player alignment and engagement. LE as a game, EHG as a company, are not in a financially good position and they shouldn't be shielded from this reality.
didn't all the bear skills not scale with attack speed at all basically, like calamity and rampage

I was using "basic attack" swipe. It scaled but not enough too my liking for my procs to feel wacky
got too like 4.3 swipes per second. was looking for 8.0 or higher. didn't matter if it was good or bad. I would have just found it funny
was using the support gem that shoots out little meteors if you attack "ignited targets" called it the "firecracker bear" from all the little explosions felt like 4th of july
did all content fine even ubers. but wasn't wacky enough for me to feel like diving deeper into optimization

Just a small new encounter, maybe focus on the fun from collecting corrupted idols and idol altars, "omen", an new encounter based on different branches of corrupted items is the biggest selling point based on the latest trailer.
The second one is 2 new rogue skills.

when i craft a set mod does it start Tier 1 or 5

the item itself has: +1 to level of lightning spell skills, 12% to 20%lightning pen, 4-8 int and 1% shock chance per int
The shard for it has:
shock chance per int & lightning pen
starting from 0.1% shock and 1% to 2% pen on tier 1
how i can know what shard drops on shattering for each set i couldnt find info in the last epoch database
also yes would be so sad if +1 doesnt drop as shard from new set amulet , set gear are already much abandoned

So i have this Set dagger

+50 Mlee Damage
+(25 to 35) Void Melee Damage
+(35 to 50) Void Spell Damage
(30% to 70%) increased Void Damage
(15% to 25%) Chance to gain Haste for 1 second on Hit
15% increased Attack and Cast Speed
What i understood when i shatter this dagger in the woven echo i'll get a shards , but not random mods , each set item will shatter a certain fixed affix every time i shatter it , lets assume this dagger will only shatter Void Mlee Damage which is the fixed affix to shatter every time
now when i craft Blade of the forgotten knight reforged on an exalted item , i'll get Void Melee Damage if it has open prefix , and it will add the set effect (2) and (3)
am i wrong ?
That's not a dagger.
Shattering that always gives a shard that always gives you increased void damage & chance to gain haste for 1 sec on hit
it will count as a set piece and will give you the set effects, yes. If you have the other set pieces or the ring that counts as a set piece
Also it's not void melee dmg that the set shard will give

so basically the devs set the fixed affix for the reforged set shard , we just hope its a the juicy ones for the new amulet

the new amulet has
+1% Critical Strike chance per 40 Total Attirbute
+1 to Level of All skills per 120 Total attributes
+197 Ward decay threshhold
+18% lightning Resistance
+18% poison Resistance
so the new amulet set is " Legendary Affixes on Equipped Weaver's Will weapons have 50% increased Effect"
Depends on what affix is set for this amulet , could be meta , i hope its the +1 level , set items are pretty much abandoned , yes the effect is cool , getting a good weaver is already a hassle
if its just the crit chance which is still good but you to have a very very good weaver , compensate a unique amulet

I doubt the tier 1 is gonna be +1 for 120 attributes
yeah thats fine , i expect it to have worse attribute on lower tiers
its an attribute stacker amulet , and u have to give up 1 red ring for it to complete the set to if u wana use the set , so worse attribute on lower tier make sense

It will probably be strong on very specific builds, yes
for example +1 level per 200 attribute , on tier 1 , and per 100 attribute on Tier 7
but honestly i dont think we will get it as a shard cuz it sounds op , you will have to use the original set item to equip instead maybe who knows which is still strong if u can stack attribute
