one key I think you aren't taking into account is that faith and trust are at it's lowest point RIGHT NOW. The class doesn't release for about a year, if not longer. They could easily regain a lot of trust before the class comes out.

I see dlcs/support packages as tips, are you going to tip if the food was bad/ didn't satisfy your expectations? Nope (I'm from Europe). If the game/ food meets your expectations and the server gives you a outstanding welcome and the resturant is super cozy, yeah, you add more tips because the place made you feel nice.

Yet when the food is smaller than you imagined, it lacks salt, the restaurant is cold...you don't feel like tipping. That's how I see it with gaming too. And I think that's why any people are angry with paid DLC. I paid 90 euro for a package for a competition, because I feel like my money are more 'respected' and get me more.

Will the 5-15 euro LE asks for paid dlc bankrupt me? No. That's one- three kebabs, or a cinema ticket. But it's more of a mental thing than a financial thing.

To many of the systems seem to get in the way of what I find fun in ARPG's so when a large majority use that as "The standard" it really turns me off. I like LE because its NOT PoE

Regardless of that, both of them have a lot of influence from PoE, which you don't seem to notice. LE's entire endgame system is highly reminiscent of a kitbash of PoE systems, and its passive and skill tree systems were created to be a "middle ground" between some very old entries in the genre and the current behemoth that is PoE.

This is why the industry is struggling rn, partly. Everyone wants to make a live-service, but for that you need a lot more money. And starting from scratch is ever harder than before.

It becomes much harder compared to older times, when the budgets need reach a threshold, which inflation made sure it is not really reachable for indies. GGG was struggling too, but not this much. But can't really compare properly.

This is why indie devs make story games or roguelikes and not a seasonal model. They used to make more, but not anymore. Too much money and manpower.

Western game development is doomed anyways. East has a fraction of dev costs due to wages.

This game was a production that promised people that they would only buy the game once, and that they would never sell anything for money again. However, we now see that they've switched to a paid system. This happened after the sale to Krafton. Therefore, people are not wrong in their negative comments. Comparing it to D4 is ridiculous because D4 never made such a promise. D4 always sold paid content and will continue to do so. People accept playing D4 knowing this. But here, it's a completely different situation. There's a promise made to people, and that promise hasn't been kept. Therefore, people are 100% right in their comments. They're saying, "We made a payment when we bought the game, we supported your community based on your promise, and we stood by you, but now you're not keeping your word," and they are absolutely right.

Fair to criticize them breaking a promise. But every other game has far more aggressive monetisation, to be completely fair. I have spent more on PoE tabs than what Last Epoch costs, and hopefully will cost with the new class. Without tabs, game is unplayable, it's a free demo, basically. D4 is going to sell expansions yearly with classes included, insanely expensive MTX too.

So while it is sad they broke their promise, people are overreacting. I hope, they will stick to promises in the future, but LE is cheaper than any live-service game (ARPG) on the market rn that is worth playing. And hopefully with the new classes aswell.
