so, there's something I found very annoying about TheoTown, and I can't tell if that's just me being a goober or if that's a result of unfortunate design decisions (or maybe a bit of both). I found it very annoying to build up a little village, try to get the most out of the limited structures I have, and then unlock something that I can't really make good use out of without bulldozing all of what I have to start anew. Am I doing something wrong with that?

I mean, to some extend I certainly am doing something wrong, particularly with thinking about trying to get things perfect and subsequently not really getting anything done, but like... I can't help but feel like this is also a result of unfortunate game design, but I want some input on it, maybe I'm just terrible at this kind of game.

I don't really get your point-this feels more like how your deciding to play the game rather then "game design", but then again as I said I could simply be misunderstanding the point your trying to make.

You know how this game starts you off with only a limited number of structures available, right? And I try to get the most out of them that I can when I start a new city. But then when I do have access to things like the church and better transport, I struggle fitting them into any place where they would have good coverage to actually get citizen satisfaction up. And then I find myself in a situation where, so it would seem to me, I'd have to either bulldoze significant parts of my city so that I can now rebuild it with these new services in mind to keep my citizens happy, build way too many of these new structures in order to maximise coverage, or just leave my citizens unsatisfied.

I mean I get what your saying... but that's a part of the game, your city will grow and alongside it you'll unlock better and more efficient things, and it's not like you need to implement all the things you unlock.. upgrading and improving is simply apart of city progression if you don't like that then I don't know what to tell you.

Personally I find that aspect fun, I think improving and upgrading your city as you progress is one of the core features of the game and is enjoyable, if you don't like that you can always play sandbox mode.

Upgrading and improving is one thing. I don't complain about that stuff as it is in Frostpunk and Tropico. What bothers me is that it seems necessary to me to bulldoze significant parts of the city in order to be able to make these upgrades in the first place.
