i discovered a flaw in my HA/Konnected alarm system in my workshop... a car hit a local pole and knocked out the internet to my house... i couldn't get into my workshop without setting the alarm off, as my phone was set to the internet-sided instance of HA, and i could not remember the IP of the LAN-sided instance... it was almost amusing. all this technology, and because the internet dropped out, i was prevented from getting into my workshop 🤣

I haven't used pfsense for a while, but you need something called "NAT loopback" or "hairpinning" or something like that. Google is your friend, I guess.
Or better yet, you can set up the DNS... resolver (I think it was called) to forward connections inside your network going to your outside url directly to your preferred target.

Hey everyone! I’m new to this discord. I have kind of an off-topic question (although my household uses and loves Home Assistant. We’ve been building automations for our Lutron light switches as well as our window and door sensors. And I’m waiting on our Everything Presence One sensors to arrive and we’re going to play with presence sensor automations!):
We have a Unifi home network (UDM pro and APs) and we’ve been having really bad issues with the WiFi in our house. We’ve played around with settings and have been troubleshooting for months and haven’t seen any improvement. Ideally what I’d love is to find someone who really knows this stuff and pay them to (in-person or virtually) consult and help us fix the WiFi in our house. Where would I go about finding someone like that?

Thermal then. What level of detail are you wanting? You can "identify" the heat signature of a vehicle from 4km with some of the axis ones, but you won't know what sort of vechicle. People at about 600 meters

I have a PoE question. I have a point to point wifi Ethernet bridge. I'm wond ring if there is anything sp cial to POE or could I just splice a 12v battery into the power lines of an Ethernet cable to "inject" the power into one of the units. I'm trying to power it on solar and I have lots of solar stuff already but the PoE stuff capable of taking 12v seems pricy for what it is.
