Don’t you guys think this sort of thing would be really cool if properly “prompt engineered”?

Like based on events, what would the ideal house respond with?

Wow, I then telles it “Sarah turned off the music”, and the “Sarah left for work” and “Sarah came back from work”, and it now didn’t suggest to turn on music when she gets home, it learnt from her habits.

This has potential!

It probably wouldn’t be very good today, but give it a few years (or months at the rate things are going) and this sort of thing could be easier to implement!

forest edge

with the exception of temp and the humidity that comes with that, i just couldn't figure out any reason to track any other weather stuff

night zodiac
#

I really wanted to set one up on the building next door because it is fairly open and I wanted to track wind

#

my whole city does not have anything online to track wind speeds

#

the weather station is at our airport and it does not measure it

forest edge
#

#

well, it is not exposed

#

It has been a couple of years, I should look

forest edge
#

why not just use the data from like openweathermap?

night zodiac
#

let me look

#

I live on the very edge of town against the fields so anything within town would be very inaccurate. let me see this.

forest edge
#

i mean there is going to be slight variations but nothing drastic

night zodiac
#

if it's on a tower it would be fine

#

oh, I just misunderstood what it was. This should be accurate. I think my airport tracks it now

static schooner
#

do you, like, live in The Windy City?

#

how would they know?

night zodiac
#

I was thinking it was people's home weather stations

#

openweathermap, that is

#

I am going to put up a small metal shed next spring so I can bbq and use my smoker in peace. being against this field is mean sometimes when you plan dinner

shrewd veldt
#

WeatherUnderground used to source their weather from home weather stations, but then IBM bought them, killed the API, and drove everyone away

night zodiac
#

the airport in town finally supports wind. I'm not sure how long. I'm right next to it though and we share the same field. I lived in the middle of town forever and never noticed wind. Now wind is an enemy.

#

Just within the last couple of years ago I was talking to the people next door about how I wanted to put a weather station on their building because the airport didn't have it exposed. They were excited because they wanted to know the wind too, lol. They brought up the airport not showing wind online and I was happy I wasn't the only person.

#

The guy that runs the airport actually came to my house one day and started knocking on my door while I was in a meeting. Instead of leaving after the first knock and waiting, he knocked longer and harder a few times so I go to the door and he starts trying to talk to me about some shit he's running for in town. I cut him off in a not so friendly manner and told him I was working and closed the door. It was like at the height of the pandemic and dude was going door-to-door interrupting people. It's cool they got a new weather station though, lol.

#

I thought my house was on fire or something. He was determined to get someone to open that door.

well i have 6 cameras out there. I can't stream all 6 at once so I have to cycle through them. the only way I can do that while keeping the data low is by sending snapshots instead of actual video

yea sending that feed back to me here in town

tidal bronze

No LOS?

I have to keep the data low enough so that when I want to view live video there is enough data before the throttle cap for me to do so every so often

Did any of the nerds in here get one of those aqara dog feeders? I think I'm getting one

I want to try to use it as a slow feeder

@forest edge why do you need to cycle feeds and why on earth would you need a live feed. Just get event clips
