Hi everyone. We’ve recently made some changes to our punishment system.

Previously, if someone had been permanently muted after appealing their first mute, that was it, they would stay muted forever.

We’re now going to be allowing a second appeal chance to happen if it’s been over 6 months from the second mute. The moderation team reserves the right to deny this appeal attempt if they deem the mute reason too severe.

Server Rules

Rule 4 (now requires you to add a message warning besides spoilers for loud videos.)
Rule 7 (Sharing any form of NSFW material (cropped or full pornography, drawings or photos with suggestive poses, fetishes, gore, NSFW descriptions, etc.) is prohibited.)
Rule 13 (adds Common sense to the rule.)

User Presentation

Level ranks changes:
Levels ranks have been lowered to 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50/Max from 0, 1, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100/Max for moderation purpose and user accessibility.
We have started to include Badge ranks that would include custom badges for ones that have reached level 50/Max rank! (Thank @green oxide for the drawn badges )
Channel changes:
We have merged bot-commands and adventure-bot into one as #bot-commands.
color-roles has been updated to #utility-roles/utility-roles due to the introduction of Badge ranks.

The way to access Plugin Development Channels is changing!

We have changed our warning and appeal system! Please be aware of the new policy:

Users only have 1 chance to appeal, 2nd mute is permanent
If users are muted they must appeal. If their appeal passes, they are unmuted 4 weeks after they sent their appeal
One warn lasts two weeks. If they are warned a second time, the timer is reset, and the 1st warn is removed after 4 weeks of the 2nd warn, then the 2nd is removed 2 weeks later.
When someone is unmuted, their third warn will be removed, and they are in an "automatic probation" where they must be on their best behavior for 4 weeks until warnings are cleared.

After reviewing the state of Ranked Category, we have decided to rework the Ranking system as it has split the community and has made some of the Ranked users "hostile" against the others for not having a rank role or in some rare cases, having the level 10 role.

We have decided to go back how it was in the past and have there only be one obtainable role. But this time you have to reach level 20 instead of level 10.

Short Q&A
Q: Why did the Ranked Category get reworked?
A: As we said above, It has split the community and has made some of the ranked users to harass non-ranked and even level 10 users.

Q: What perks does the new rank role have?
A: The new ranked role "Chaos Insurgency - Ranked" is obtainable by reaching level 20 on !rank and it allows you to livestream, send images in general-discussions, a channel that allows you to send suggestions for the discord server, a channel to post memes and joke about Northwood's staff members, voice channels that's only viewable by having the rank and the usage of external emojis (if you have nitro that is).

Q: What does "Class-D Personnel - Member" do?
A: The role is obtainable by joining the server and it allows you to change your nickname and have image perms in scp-discussion.

The Ranked rework has been launched today so if you didn't obtain one of the roles then message one of the staff about it.
If you have any suggestions for changes/fixes on the new system then feel free to ask one of the staff members as well, or preferably use #discord-suggestions .

After listening to your complains, as you have already seen, we are somewhat reverting some of the changes made.
We have decided to switch the roles to 10, 20, 30 and then 50, 75 100.
We chose this path as we had too many roles to deal with amongst other things

Level 10s will obtain access to Livestream Perms, Image Perms in scp-discussion, External Emojis, Viewing of staff-memes and discord-suggestions.
Level 20s will obtain access to staff-memes, discord-suggestions and Image Perms in general-discussion

If you have any suggestions for changes on the new version of the Ranked then feel free to ask one of the staff members or use #discord-suggestions.

We've added a new role under the name "Member - Level 3" while the level 0 role has been renamed to "Guest - Level 0".
The new role is to prevent people from posting suggestive content after joining in, so now they have to become Level 3 to be able to post images and links now.
The new Member role has the ability to Livestream and use External Emojis.

If you have the Guest role while over Level 3, ask a Discord staff member to give you the new Member role.
And keep in mind that Level 10 and over is still required for #general-chat and #scp-discussion for image and link permission.

Well, we got quite a few changes around here, lets explain.

The main category channels have been shuffled a bit, nothing major.
A new channel has been created called #media-posts to discuss, post images, videos and such. Memes are not allowed in this channel.
A ranked category has been created to store in #staff-memes, #discord-suggestions and #discord-suggestions-chat to keep the main category clean.
Lastly, #meme-zone has been changed. You can only post images and any attempts at speaking will be automatically deleted.
This is to make the channel true to its name rather than having it as a discussion channel most of the time.

Howdy folks. Now I don't know about you guys, but these Videos that crash discord are an absolute pain.

Luckily after some digging, we found a post that described in a fair amount of detail what the issue is (https://old.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/khuu1r/how_to_avoid_the_discord_crashing_video/) - in short, its a fairly obscure codec that the video swaps to halfway through. If you turn hardware acceleration off, it should prevent most of these crashing videos. That post also explains a few quirks that several people have found while trying to figure it out themselves, so feel free to give it a read.

If you create a ticket for an issue listed in one of those sections, you will be told to go read it and your ticket will be closed.

Since we don't want to eliminate the regular userbase that helps out in tech-support, we have created a new role, <@&897708789690667029>. This can be acquired via reaction role in #897963109480800276, and allows you to view and type in all tickets. Only Technical Assistance, Tech Support, and the member who created the ticket will be able to close it. Abuse of this Ticket Assistance system will result in harsh punishments.

Well, that about wraps it up. This system should help to reduce the clutter of tech-support and allow all members to have their support requests not be buried.

Also, if you make a ticket about a global ban, you will be blacklisted without warning. So don't.

Clicking on the link will result in a normal phishing scam, but you are at higher risk if you view the message on Android.

Make sure to block and report these bots, and inform one of our Discord moderation staff about it as soon as possible.

We’re back with another Creation Contest where you’ll get to show off your unique talents and magnificent creations. Like previous years, there are seven categories and the winner of each category will receive the selected rewards. 

If you are not familiar with the event, here are the categories:

Some of you may notice that there are only six categories listed. This is because the runners-up of each category will be placed in a final category, where Northwood Staff will pick their favourite entry.

Please follow the guidelines for posting your submission.

- 2 You must follow the Discord Rules for posting any material. 
- 3 You may only post the same piece of work once, on each platform. Do not repost it.
- 4 You may post multiple pieces but you will only receive one reward. For your efforts, you will get an honourable mention.
- 5 Submissions should be posted in the #event-submission and #meme-submission channel.
- 6 Discussions about pieces of work should be kept in the #event-discussion channel.

Hello everyone,

After months of internal planning and deliberation, the Discord Staff team have decided upon an overhaul to the structure of this server. This overhaul is larger than previous updates, and as such requires us to lock down the server for a little while so we can apply these changes.

Our focus has been largely geared towards how we want the server to "feel". We're focused on making changes that make this server seem more like a server befitting a game studio, and less reminiscent of a generic community server. Chief amongst these changes is the introduction of an LFG system, which allows you to find people to play SCP:SL with, and then create a voice chat to play with them. There are many other minor changes, such as further changes to our advertisements system.

For those of you above level 30, head on over to #discord-suggestions if you have changes you'd like to see made. Please keep this feedback respectful, without simply going "revert to old server".

Why was the server changed?

So for starters, it just looked messy on our end and it was complicated to change / edit stuff when we wanted to find the proper channel.

Why were the discussions channels separated?

We wanted to have the channels more themed toward SL itself together in their own category (including general chat, as its the main channel), while the other, more miscellaneous channels have been moved into their own category.

Are the channel names going to remain how they are?

While feedback will not be taken into consideration for the first few days, due to how new the changes are, you will be able to make suggestions in #discord-suggestions if you still wish to have them reverted.

What are the LFG channels and can the voice chat can be used for other games?

The channels are an experiment for people to send their invites if they wish to play SCP: Secret Laboratory together.
You can use the "LFG Room Creator" Voice Chat to play SL or other games with friends or users in this discord without getting disturbed by others joining in.

Are the ranks going to be reworked?

Eventually yeah, unsure when as we need to set up a plan for it first.

Recently we’ve come to the conclusion amongst the discord staff team that we could use a few extra hands. Considering applications for discord moderator have been open for quite a few months with minimal applicants, we’ve opted to open a helper position.

Hey folks, just wanted to let you know about some updates we've done to the server.

First off, we thought that some of the level requirements for channel access / embed perms was a bit high, so we shuffled around the level roles a bit and reduced the amount you need to have access to those things.

Secondly, <@&585532194374680576> and <@&677940547196944385> will have access to the #utility-roles channel, where they can acquire a color role that will appear above their other roles. This is purely for cosmetic purposes.

Lastly, we've implemented a system that should prevent cases of users going un-punished when there are no mods online. All you'll have to do is ping a studio member that's active in chat, they'll handle the rest.
