@slate flicker Actually, when I was GM of this game, I was very serious about narrating, so it was quite refreshing. If the correct answer for A was B, and the player brought C, I would say "Nothing happens" like in the game 'rusty lake', so I think I learned how to proceed more smoothly while watching today.

Out of curiosity did you play into this at all, did you use dice to determine the outcome of certain actions?

(I've rolled a dice in the past to see if people for example get hurt while || doing the experiment ||)

I didn't implement dice throwing but I did make it so they gotta work together to do some things
"You want to climb the shelves to look into the vent. You try to climb up the shelves but they fall over"
So the others gotta hold down the shelves and all that.
We did say that if there is another entry in the untold saga I will do hit points as the first thing they did was try to drink the acid XD

I know this comment is a bit old. But I did try to do this. Unfortunately it didn't work very well. I think it works in the games because you have the written out "translation" so your brain fills in how it is supposed to sound. I could also understand it because I recorded it and knew what it was supposed to be. But I ran 4 versions of it past like 10-15 people and they could not understand it.

I ran The Lab yesterday and my group enjoyed it! I had a blast as the GM too. Lowkey preferred it over D&D because I didn't have to be NPCs haha (I'm a little roleplay burned out). I really liked just having a situation to present to the players.

My players did get to make characters and roleplay among themselves though! I thought it would be a fun idea to just have a simple character concept to roleplay with, and they agreed with, "Why would we want to be ourselves? We're boring!"

I kinda want to write my own adventure/story in a similar format because I enjoyed it so much

It was great ! Much easier to run than a D&D game, which is perfect 'cause I'm a big D&D player, but GMing always kinda scared me. So The Lab was a good starting point. All my players really got fast into the game, although half of them didn't knew RL that well. They did all sorts of crazy stuff, like trying to carry the carpet around during the entire adventure.
I had prepare some MP3 sounds for better immersion (flies buzzing, neon blinking etc.), it worked very well.

Heyo, I started rebuilding the location of The Lab in a Social VR game a while ago and plan on starting from scratch. Wanted to ask what part of the game I'm allowed to include with the map. Can I just have the cards available to everyone? Do players need to provide everything themselves? Is it maybe fine if I just make the GM drop in the PDF of the GM Guide in a dedicated slot for verification?

What's the largest group any of you have played with Rusty Lake Untold? At work, we sometimes play virtual games and we're a pretty small company, but it would be more than four. If having a larger group makes it go a little faster, that's fine because ideally it would only take 45 minutes or so. I'll be the GM

We recommend you play with up to 4 players, I think you can definitely go above that, i'd say 5 - 6 being feasible

Not sure whatll happen in the 6 - 10 range. I doubt anything above 10 would be fun to host for, unless you alter the way the game is played where you have everyone democratically vote on what theyd like to do next.

Personally I've had the best experiences w/ 3 - 4 people. I think it really helps when there' a group to bounce ideas of eachother but no voice gets lost in the chaos.

As I mentioned [here](#📝｜rl-untold message), I did finally do Untold with my co-workers virtually. I was the Game Master, and we had 8 other people, but only 5 were actively participating. It worked really well. It still took just barely over an hour, which is actually longer than it took for the 3-person session I did over the weekend for practice.

I put each of the pictures on a different slide in Google Slides and covered them up with a large gray box. I shared the slides with everyone view-only and then as I went along, I removed the box to reveal each card. I did have one other person with edit abilities, and he kept a list towards the front of items that they had collected. We also had a QR code to the playlist at the beginning, and the QR code to leave feedback at the end.

I did not plan this, but the person with edit abilities also had a great idea to copy a picture of the map and put it alongside the diagram so that they could map out which room they were in. He also placed an arrow and moved it around on the diagram where they were moving. My in-person group was able to lay out the room cards on the table, so this was a really great way to make up for that. They also figured out how to orient the map to match the diagram.

We all had a great time!

I have a question about the first room ||how can the players open the door? Or how can they get to other rooms and the hallway? They cant go through the vent "The vent is too high to reach from the ground. Players
must find a way to reach it.
The vent is covered with a panel that is screwed to the wall.
Later in the game players will find the screwdriver. They
can use it to remove the panel and crawl inside the maze.", they dont habe a key or something else to onlock the door,they dont have the screwdriver for the vent. Ik that its written on Page 8 that they can use force to open the door but dont they need the key for this door? Oh and can they see Diagramm about the vents? ||
