I am reaching out regarding a persistent issue I am experiencing with the game "Ready or Not". Every time I try to launch the game through Steam, it crashes immediately and shows a crash reporter window stating:

"Ready or Not has encountered a critical error and could not recover."

I have already tried the following steps without success:

• Verified the integrity of game files via Steam
• Deleted save data and mod data
• Removed all files from AppData\Local\ReadyOrNot
• Updated my GPU drivers (RTX 4050 Laptop GPU)
• Installed the latest DirectX and Visual C++ redistributables
• Tried launching the game with the "-dx11" parameter
• Performed a clean boot of Windows 11
• Tried a different Windows user account

All Safe Mode does is invalidate non-game related PAK files and mods. Therefore, if the game works fine in Safe Mode, it's your PAK mods causing the issue and not your INI mods.

Well if you only did right click and delete and windows didn't say/ask that it was going to permanently delete the files then you can restore them from the recycling bin otherwise you're stuck reinstalling the game.

Personally what I usually do is just rename the files and add _backup to the end that way they're in the same folder when and if I need to change them back and all I have to do is rename them back to their original name by removing the _backup.

@odd trail @noble knoll I just got an email back from Void Interactive saying that I need to handle this technical issue in Discord. So let me just recap, so we're all on the same page.

1. I am not able to open the DLC. When trying, RoN suggests that I haven't completed the campaign. However, I have completed the campaign.
2. I uploaded the CommanderSlot000.sav file as requested.
3. Upon review of the file, mr eman suggested that it does not contain the completion information for "Hide and Seek". Mr eman also suggested that, while the interface shows that I completed that mission, that fact is not reflected in the CommanderSlot000.sav file, and that perhaps the "score" came from a different file.
4. While that is interesting, the fact is that I only have a single CommanderSlot000.sav file. I have only completed the campaign once, all under the same commander slot. There wouldn't be a mechanism by which another file could have polluted my mission grade, or show it as completed.
5. I have posted the screen shots that show, not only the grade letter "B" but also the screen shot that shows the achievement that I unlocked in Steam on July 2. After completing Hide and Seek, I was not able to open the DLC, which prompted my posts here as well as the email to Void Interactive on July 4, after attempting to solve the mystery myself, and here in the various Discord channels.
6. While I can certainly run the campaign over again, I think it's incumbent upon Void to acknowledge that what's in the CommanderSlot000.sav file is somehow not reflecting what's taken place. I'm not sure how I could have finished the mission, received the achievement for clearing the "Hide and Seek" level, but still not getting "credit" for having done so in the CommanderSlot000.sav file. As the end user, how am I to overcome this? I think, from the developer perspective, this would be a very interesting bug to investigate, and I'm more than happy to supply any useful information for you that could help avoid the same problem for someone else in the future.
7. How do I gain access to the DLC? What shall I do next once the investigation end has concluded?

For some reason the game doesn’t register the A button on my Xbox One controller, which I use for the standard “F” interaction keybind. When I press F normally on keyboard the prompt works fine, the controller just has issues on prompts that are normally used by the F key.

A good example of this issue would be the first prompt in the tutorial level, where the game instructs me to use the A button on my Xbox controller to pickup the simunition mk18. However, the game does not register the input from the A button, despite working normally on the Steam controller setup menu. So I have to resort to using a keyboard for that specific “F” key input. You can imagine it has become quite tedious.

I have ran into an interesting dilemma with RoN.

When I first open ready or not and get into the main menu (if im lucky actually load in with my character)
the game will COMPLETELY turn off my PC.
There is no BSOD, I have verified there is no overheating,
Installed the latest drivers, installed lastest OS updates.
Removed ALL mods and even tried Directx11/12, safe mode, clean etc
Uninstalled and re-installed

Could there possibly be something I am missing? This game has ran before with no issues until I started playing again.

Your computer shutting itself off or restarting itself is not an issue with the game (even if it only happens to you on this game). Check windows event viewer for errors, and look into doing hardware stress tests.

The Main Menu runs an unlocked framerate by default and is purely GPU bound.
5700XT is known to not be very stable to begin with let alone the buggy drivers.

Yes but those weapons were unlocked for everyone when the DLC released as a part of the overall update not as part of the content for the DLC. I believe the weapon names are mentioned there on the page which you should be able to match up to weapons in game that you should already have unlocked.

You could try a watt meter to see what it’s pulling at the wall, and a PSU tester if you can get one. Just had a Corsair 850 act weird with power drop outs with a Vega 64 (it’s an old PC), Vega now dead and -12v rail on PSU also gone.

Sorry if this question has been asked a lot, but when I install RON, the game says it takes up 60 gigs in the properties tab on steam, However, my drive is showing that it takes up 170 gigs once the game is installed.
It's only with RoN and goes away once I uninstall it.

Using a VPN will only worsen the problem. Everyone in the lobby should run in safe mode to eliminate mods as the problem, and then if it still happens do the usual peer to peer connection troubleshooting. There is not a guarantee you can connect to anyone since the connection on both ends can be an issue.

hi, had a 2 issues appear in the last approx 7 days:

• first I had micro stuttering when walking but seemed to disappear almost completely while sprinting - this issue only appears in multiplayer, not single player. at first it was fixed by loading with dx11 instead of dx12, but that stopped working and had to load in safe mode which seemed to fix the problem. have cleared nvidia cache but no improvement.
• second, im not unable to equip and ammo or throwables. I had lots of mods installed but even after removing them, deleting AppData, and verifying files via steam i was still unable to fix.
  i have uninstalled and waiting for a fresh download, hopefully fixes whatever was wrong.
  has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Uninstalling an app from Steam will not remove files you added yourself nor files that are left over in general.

If Safe Mode works, you have broken mods.

safe mode did fix the stuttering, but i was still unable to equip any ammo/throwables

If you have Steam Cloud enabled it'll bring all your save files and loadout files back to where they were before you manually deleted local files. Reset loadouts in game back to default and ensure you have enough slots to actually equip the gadgets (i.e. don't have 11 magazines in your primary).

Hello! I'm trying to rebind Left click and Right click (LMB and RMB) to move forward/backward, but I'm having some issues. Even though rebinding them in the menu works, LMB still fires the gun AND walks forward. I rebound both "move forward" and "fire", but this still happens.

I just recently purchased Ready or Not during the steam summer sale. I got about an hour of playtime before I started experiencing issues. My shadows and highlights seem to be clipping.
Dark shadows are covered in a red tint, and blown out highlights have a cyan blue tint over them. This has been quite annoying and I've looked everywhere online about this issue and cant find anything regarding it. Closest thing I could find was HDR related, but I don't use HDR, and my issue does not lie with contrast and color hues being off. It's quite literally the shadows are clipping red and the highlights clip cyan. —> forwarded from an email to support who referred me here. When the game updates, it needs to recache the games shaders. So if you use DX12, you will take longer to load into a map because of how preloading works. If you use DX11, you'll have more stutters/drops because you are loading as you play

Has anyone else had issues with extremely high latency in multiplayer games with friends? For whoever is hosting, the game will run perfect, but everybody else who is in the lobby gets constant ping spikes. It's not an issue with any of our internet connections, we've tried troubleshooting in network and game settings but nothing fixes it. Not sure if this is a known issue (didn't find anything about it in #❗known-issues-and-fixes), but I'm guessing I'm not the first to ask for help with this.
None of the upscaling methods are working for me at all. It'll run the game at a lower resolution as expected, but doesn't actually do any of the upscaling part as shown in the image above. Happens both with DLSS and FSR. DLAA just runs the game at a native resolution (once again, as expected) but doesn't apply any form of anti-aliasing (other than the TAA slop that UE5 brings us).

It's broken in this specific game due to techniques and materials the devs opted to use so it's ghostyAF in most scenes just as much as the TAA was on UE4 build.

My bad. I tried for around 45 minutes to host a multiplayer lobby with it being set to friends only. I kept having random people, not on my friends list, join the lobby. Do not click delete save data, that button is way too big and i have done that before. you could click delete mod data but prior to this update it was broken and it wouldnt actually delete the mods, esp if you used mod io.

So what you want to do is go to steam and verify game integity. then you want to go to the install directory of ron and check for any mods that are still kicking around.

idk if they fixed the button but im gonna asume its still broken

Statistically you are using obsolete mods as of today's update.

Remove mods and reset loadouts to dafault, that usually fixes these loadout specific issues.
