Read mission briefing carefully. Check info about suspects. JHP for non armored, AP for heavy armored milita. Need to take ppl alive? Take gas and stuff. Map is big? Take launchers to shoot gas far. Map is small, many small rooms? Take optiwand. Etc. etc. I mean, just as some general thought. The game is also playable with a singular loadout across the entire game, but adjusting to the briefing can make some difference.

The only fix is to stop playing, there's no other way to find the civvies out of just spinning in circles around the map and yelling

Nah that's a skill issue if you're efficient on your first clear through the map you won't have to go back around the map because you should be clearing every nook and cranny of a room your first go around. I often play completely solo with no bots and yes while very often with mods including AI mods even in vanilla I rarely ever have to go back and clear the map again to find the last civi because I usually find all of them the first go around.

Community shit posting aside, the fix is a change in your teams doctrine. Making sure you clear every room on your teams first pass and ensuring that every room behind you is secure means that your end of game civvie hunting doesn't exist.

That and marking cleared rooms, halls, and open spaces with glowsticks

you're missing one thing: dlc is 90% made of assets, and people doing them don't know how to fix the game's performance, there are other people to do that

but yes, some fixes are probably already in the development branch, but because of breaking changes it can't be easily ported to the current version of the game
