GreenPhoenix89 gets insta murdered around the one minute mark and Theocog gets killed in the basement by the final guy around 6 minutes I think. The rest of us survive to the end and encounter a glitched civilian stuck in a hostage/human shield animation.

I found the location for the achievement "Justice Uncovers Depths Ghosts at Elysium"
In the first floor showers area, next to the Indoor Pool location on the map, bring a C2 charge and blow open the wall.

@wind radish i know i replied here on the steam discussion but i am just looking for an explanation. because to me, even if the usage of generative ai 'fits' the narrative on 23mb/sec, that isn't the issue. the issue is it looks awful and paying an/your artist(s) is much more preferable to ai slop in your game. this isn't even mentioning the host of other issues that involve the usage of generative ai on the environment or models using artists' creations in their training without their permission.

Pursuant to your Steam reply, we did end up replacing pieces on the station that were left there as a placeholders for, honestly, far longer than it should have.

As far as the AI that was used, for what was generated, it was ethically produced via licensed galleries and commercial generators. Even the AI that slipped by our sound director and was used in our Home Invasion trailer, was ethical, created with voice actors intending to create a virtual soundfont of their voices.

Granted not many noticed, but we don't intend to use generative AI outside of use cases where it'd be thematically appropriate. [23mb being our Example, or Stellaris' Machine Age expac for another]

That being said our art team is still creating assets for the game and still has plenty of bandwidth to do so, for example the cryptic imagery in Dorms and the new MLO imagry in Triad

i was just saying it looks awful and lazy. you didn't have to admit that you don't care to consistently pay voice actors, instead opting to create a model of their voice and make it say whatever you want with no compensation. as for your third point, do you have thematic reasoning for the other images i sent? not even sure what you're on about with Stellaris. im glad you have an art team! if you want us to pay for DLC on top of the load of issues in the base game, i would hope some of the new influx of money goes towards hiring more artists to create assets, instead of putting more unethical ai imagery into the game.

Oh no, talking about the voices, it was a purchased commercial library which was used without Director oversight or permission.

The dev in question was talked to and all of our voices going forward will be human

so the painting on Ends of the Earth is a placeholder, how long has the map been out for? i mean a whole dlc has came out since then. another note, you said you paid for an ai with an "ethically produced licensed gallery"...to create placeholders for development purposes, to be replaced later by art from your art team. if i'm understanding that correctly, and forgive me since i'm not an expert budgeter, but would it not be more cost effective to not purchase that library at all, and just wait for your team to complete the work before the final product is shipped? i'm not trying to make you and your team out to be the bad guy, but with how much generative imagery is in the 1.0 version of the game, i find it hard to believe that all of this is leftover placeholder material

Yes. You would be genuinely suprised how many man-hours worth of material just get thrown away to either be used at a later date or even discarded completely for one reason or another, and the amount of labor-waste only increases as the scope of a project does

no doubt! i have no idea how difficult developing a game as complex as RoN is, i have no illusions about that. on that note though, what @wind radish is claiming doesn't make sense still, and if the game is in a state where "placeholder" ai generated imagery is in the game, does it not call into question why the game version is 1.0 and multiple DLCs have been released. this also is not addressing my original point: if the rest of the art in the game (weapon and character models, environments, etc) look as great as they do from their art team, why resort to placeholder ai slop.

it seems to me that when it comes to the smaller details in the maps, having awful looking, lazy ai images is fine with the team. which is fine, but come out and say it if you're worried about transparency. i know i'd much prefer to see human made, properly compensated art in one of my favorite shooters right now, but if the devs are okay with being lazy about the assets in the game, i'd at least want them to be honest about it.

Not all art assets are going to be of the same quality at all times, i know game developers who use AI art to get a decent idea of how levels and art assets are going to look, before scrapping the AI art and making their own designs, sometimes based on said art.
I'm under no illusion that the game is not worthy of the 1.0 status, what i think i meant to say is that the game isn't developed to the point where it can be considered a fully released product

I don't think AI art has any place in ready or not especially since their art team is so talented.
Even in 23mbps, where it might make sense it still feels cheap and it lessens the experience, just because it "makes sense realistically" as in real life doesn't mean it has a place in the game world.
Just because a character in media is a robot doesn't mean you need to have him be an emotionless machine, quite the opposite actually since people need to relate to it.
People need to feel the same about the art they see too.

It's very easy to assume malice where there was a mistake, but that's just genuinely what it is in the case of these placeholders. They were dropped in for a concept pass and while most pieces were replaced with good and proper art, not all of them were.

From a consumer standpoint, given how the industry has trended, I do understand the hesitation to take me at my word so I honestly don't blame you for that.
