I think it less about it being popular and more because it's a lot easier to use torterra cuz it's literally a moving landmark-hill-island thing, just put whatever location reference you want on top and it works, just need to find a mon that fits the location fusion

Honestly I'm fine with it? All the torterras I've seen are really unique and well done. Admittedly it's kind of a low hanging fruit but there isn't really another pokemon in IF that incorporates a literal, physical location like torterra does

Pallosand kind of fits but not really, and the skyscraper ultra beast the name of which escapes me isn't in the game
