In there, a scientist will give you the Surf HM! You can also get its replacement item, the Surfboard, on Route 19, after getting 6 badges (and have the HM already).

Lightweight Installer Update:

1. Open your game folder
2. Double click 'INSTALL_OR_UPDATE.bat'

App Installer Update:

1. Open the App
2. Click Installation Menu -> Update Game -> Click Update

because graphics are a VERY small part of the requirements for this game
Tell your friend to restart his pc. not shut down and turn back off, an actual restart from the windows menu.
I suspect a lot of garbage processes have piled up in the background.

Lightweight Installer Update:

if the base game is launched without internet all sprites will be a circle with a question mark in it. you would need to run preloaded to play offline but that can make phoble heat really quick and likely bork the phoble device
