Don’t get discouraged it’s a really hard fight. I already had a ton of hk speedrunning experience when I finally learned any% it took me several hours to even get it 20% of the time

Many more to be reasonably consistent

Hey i am planning to start speed running Hollow Knight and had a question about the start and finish of the game. do we start the counter at the end of the cutscene/ the knight falling and end the timer when the end cutscene starts? Ive been watching a couple of runs to take notes and i think thats what is happening but i wanted to know for sure.

Are you on console or pc?

pc will have the timer automatically start and stop using the autosplitter. Console starts on file/difficultly select and ends on the first black frame after whichever ending.

If youre on mac and don't have access to the autosplitter, you'd just time as console does.

latest version of livesplit and the autosplitter, as for the actual splits there are standard ones for each category for comsob comparisons

if you check the pinned comments in the category you're running (assuming its a main one) there should be a comsob sheet with split names, and you should use those

if you're just running for fun, not really looking to push a category to its full limits, you can set up your own splits (at the end of the day, the splits are for comparison, you only need loadless timer for your runs)

@digital jewel Not that it helps but to proc the grim fight we need the save values: "grimmChildLevel": 2 as well as the condition "flamesCollected" == "flamesRequired". Flames required being at 3 in the save file (Not sure why it's a variable, but I tested changing it so flames required=0 and it worked)

So the TL;DR of this is to do an AG with MMS godhome in the categorues 112% and All notches; we need to figure out how to reset our grimmchild charm somehow or replace it with a lower level grimmchild.

Something that should help with finding autosplits is: Always tick alphabetical

It should be default. The fact that its not is a crime

Even if youre close when typing alphabetical will help pick it out of the crowd

When you're learning watcher knights, only practice the first knight until you can kill it quickly

if the second one spawns before the first, you have more to learn

take solace in the fact that watcher knights is the major roadblock for any% so you're not alone

Yeah I renamed save1 to save4 and visa versa but didn't seem to work

you renamed user1.dat to user4.dat? If so and you had the game open already just quit out and open it back up, should be good

note you don't actually need to quit out to get it to load in properly but the game won't necessarily update the ui with the new save until you reload

This speedrunning thing is addictive. On one hand I think this is a pretty decent run, but on the other I could save at least 3 minutes in the late game. I guess the only solution is more hollow knight

No, if i record over an hour it doesnt let me upload it to youtube without putting my computer at >200*F, and also taking 2-3 hrs to upload.

Thats why i wanted to stream it on twitch but it doesnt save for more than 2 days
