no the justification for type erasure was compatibility with the old system of having collections of Objects and explicitly casting to and from your desired type, which makes no sense but then again this is the same people that said "== on strings has to work that way because we don't have operator overloading - ignore that we overloaded +" so

i know that C# is regularly faster than Java (albeit marginally) simply because we have value types

Explicit over implicit, and if variable is True is what I’ve seen a lot in code, even though if variable is recommended by PEP8 I think

namely, python is really good at being readable and having fast dev cycles
python is really bad at going fast
so sacrificing readability for speed makes like, no sense, if you're using python
if speed is so important to you that you care about an 8 nanosecond difference stop using python
