Recently we've been getting a lot of questions about our Excessive Bumping rule when posting in the forums. While we have our own internal metrics and individual opinions on excessive bumping, below is a break down on what can be considered as Excessive Bumping.
Excessive Bumping Break Down:
(*) If your post consists more than 20% of bumps or less than 80% of conversation, it is considered excessive.
(*) Bumping more than twice in a 24 hour time period.
(*) If no one has replied to your post after a couple days, instead of constantly bumping, you should close your post and remake it after restructuring it to be more appealing.
What is bumping?
(*) Bumping comes in many different forms.
(*) Bumping can be a reply to your own post whether from yourself or a friend posting useless text. ("up", ".", "bump", etc)
(*) It can also be just editing your post title with little to no changes.
(*) There's also ghost bumping where you bump your post then delete the reply you made. - This type can get you permanently banned from all LFG sections of the community.
How can I not excessively bump my post?
(*) To avoid excessively bumping your post, a good practice is to realize when your post is not getting any attention, you may need to go back and figure out what in your post is not attracting the players you want.
(*) You can also be more descriptive and detailed in your post. Sharing your characters stats, your static members stats and a brief explanation of what preferences you are looking for in a potential group member.
(*) Don't follow what others are doing. The moderation staff doesn't live on Discord so we may miss some posts from time to time. So a good practice is not to look at how others are bumping their posts. They may be breaking the rules after all.
(*) Read the bot reply when you make your initial post and read the forum rules either in the pinned post or by filtering by the "
MOD POST" tag.
(*) Try not to require members to only DM you about your group. By doing so you are creating a situation where you will be excessively bumping your post by persuading others to not participate within your post.
I've been LFG Banned, how can I appeal?
(*) We do not typically do appeals for LFG Bans.
(*) However, we are more than happy to have a constructive conversation about it. Whether it be to help you better understand the rules or give suggestions on what you can do differently to attract more players to reply to your post.
(*) When having a conversation, a good idea is to not deflect by saying "Well I saw X post do this so I did it too".
(*) You are responsible for your own actions, no one else made you do what you did. Keep that in mind. When you have a conversation with a moderator, they are having a conversation about you and no one else.
