I need to fix my game, I bought foxhole looking forward to playing it but turns out i cant because an error. When in the main menu i got the error Failed to download shard info [Error: 1] I have tried to validate files on steam, let it through my firewall and just uninstalling and then reinstalling it, to no avail. Some in the community have told me to make sure i have a shard selected and that is in a menu, the only menu i have is to select English, Chinese and German. I cant get a refund as i have spent 6 hours staring blackly at the main menu. I want to make in worth it but i am losing hope and that i wasted £24. Foxhole has stopped loading for me. I had a short power outage while I was playing foxhole and afterwards Foxhole would no longer start. It just gets stuck on the loading screen and shows "Not responding" in the task manager.

I've tried to reinstall the game and verify the files (and the other 12 steps support sends with no change) What can I do short of reinstalling Windows?

How long did you give the game to boot up?

Coz sometimes when I boot my game, it inexplicably takes quite a while. Sometimes it's real quick, sometimes it really hangs on the loading screen for a good few minutes

As for reinstalling the game; When you told steam to uninstall, did you actually go to the install location after? Steam has a tendency to leave some files behind, and there's a chance (albeit small) one of those lingering files may have corrupted on power loss, didn't get removed by steam (coz steams fun like that /s ) and is causing an issue again on a reinstall.

Beyond that; Try launching the game and just... Ignore it. Don't try tabbing onto it, focusing window, anything like that. Just let it exist in the background for a bit. Watch some youtube, browse on your phone, do whatever. Just ignore foxhole for... Lets say 30 minutes. Excessive I know, but that will help determine whether or not it's just a case of "awkward boot up"

Beyond that, going back to the reinstall concept; There's a chance (again, very small) that the drive sector that you have Foxhole installed onto is botched, possibly from the power drop. Again super unlikely but is a possiblity; To test if this is the case, install Foxhole to a different drive. Uninstalling and reinstalling is just wiping file-paths, and then reinstalling into the exact same sector if you haven't done anything else in regards to writing to the drive

Hell, I'd maybe even consider uninstalling, defragmenting the hard drive, and reinstalling if you don't have a secondary drive you can use

I'll go ahead and try the 30 minute boot. I did verify the folder the files are in disappeared when I uninstalled.

I'm guessing there's something set in the registry or outside the files.

Okay cool, give that a go and see what's what then. I know some games of mine take a few minutes to boot, but if I get impatient and try tabbing into the program before it fully loads it just breaks and won't boot at all until I restart it

There may be an issue with one of the files in there.

Im having issues launching the game, i recently updated to windows 11 and installed a new main drive. Before this i could launch and play the game without issues but now the game fails to launch. I assume its a Direct x issue as when i try to launch steam requests permission to install "Microsoft direct x for Microsoft". If i decline nothing happens and the game dosen't even attempt to launch. If i accept it "installs" direct x and it shows that it starts to launch but with task manager you can see it dosent even try. I've tried re-installing the game, re-installing .Net freamwrok, updating my graphics card driver and preforming dxdiag (which presents a "problem getting extra sound information" error) however none of this has worked or shown any results. I have no idea where to proceed from here except reinstalling steam/my graphics card driver however i doubt this will help and simply cause more issues. If i could get any help with this issue please Dm me or reply to this message. Thanks.

they are packed in 6th and 7th gen i3 processors afaik

hd graphics 4xxx come with some older 4th gen i5 you can get for cheap and they should in theory run the game too

remember igpu use a bunch of your RAM, so get 8gb or more of RAM if you dont have it yet

I see others are having the same issue, cant deploy since the shard merged. Once in a blue moon I can actually deploy, but at this point I might have to quit playing foxhole because I cant actually deploy. Two days ago I cant join, yesterday I cant join, today I cant join, and I spent hours during those days restarting the game, restarting steam, restarting the pc, and restarting the router. I managed to get in playing three days ago after an hour of restarting the game, and then the issue popped up again. Anyone with reliable fix or am I gonna have to resort to playing Heart of Iron 4?

Guys did you notice that war 86 is a prototype war? We barely unlock a tank that people already switch to new tech prototypes. For my perspective that's sucks to play mainly with protos. Maybe reducing the prototypes required to unlock a tech?! My proposition is to make protos much more expensive but the rate each proto advance a tech is also higher, it means that we take the same time to unlock a tech but we have less prototypes during this process

Hello. I have a persistent connection problem.

Connection Lost: your connection to the host has been lost

It happens every time i spawn. I can deploy for Just 30 seconds. I dont understand what's causing this, my internet is fine. I tried checking files, andding an exception for the game files on windows defender and much more. Nothing worked.

I just purchased the game, if this issue cannot be resolved i will unfortunately be forced to request a refound on steam

to be honest i have this problem myself, but only in some servers (regions)

it first started happening when steam sockets were introduced to the game

in some regions i get constantly disconnected and keep having very big rollbacks

But its only in a minority of the servers

The problem is when the home region server is one of these servers with issues, you have to run up to a deploy area and spawn before you get DCed

Ive already tried changing DNS servers and stuff to no avail

But you can play just fine in most of the regions, usually

Bit late to answer, but if it happens when you use ALT+ENTER it's probably a windows thing, try disabling fullscreen optimizations, find the .exe game file via properties on steam, then right click it -> properties -> disable full screen optimizations under compatibility afaik

If you ALT+TAB a lot I suggest you just set it to windowed fullscreen in the game settings

Hello, I've started getting a weird graphics glitch where parts of my interface will just appear, semi-transparent, on the bottom half of my screen for a frame or two. If I'm not moving they rarely happen but if moving the camera they flicker on or off near constantly.

I tried recording this with shadowplay but the glitches do not show up in recordings, the game looks as it should in the recording.

This is a new laptop, first week of use this didn't happen, the past week it started happening - no idea what changed, was not after a driver update. Have a 3070. Any help would be welcome, I can't find anything on google

-World: General chat visible to ur entire Faction
-Intel: Important chat visible to ur entire Faction
-Logistic: Logistic chat Visible to ur entire Faction
-Region: Region chat visible to players on your region (press f1 to see players in your region)
-Local: Local chat visible to player on your screen only

Then there is whisper which u will need to enter /p name message or easier u can right click on their name at world chat or f1 menu

For some addition there is also Squad and Regiment chat but if ur a non clanmen then this will never be visible

I would kindly ask for help regarding not being able to deploy. Neither deployment area offer deployment points to set spawn. I restarted many times, both steam and my computer, and sometimes I get a message "War Services Disconnected", Unable to connect.

Other then restarting, I have:
Made rules for port 443
Checked firewall settings for foxhole
Made an exclusion in Windows defender
Checked the integrity of files in Steam

You can change for the first 10 or 15 minutes after picking a faction, also you can contact mod trough mod mail, and sometimes they allow you to switch faction.

Hello. Im new to the game. Can someone help me figure out how to get my Push To Talk to work? I can hear other people, but can't talk myself. I've tried: reinstalling and remapping from defaults of "G" and "T". I am connected to voice. I have Push To Talk SFX set to on but have never heard that SFX. Yes, it happens. Internet connection issues might be one of the reasons, do check #technical-read-first⚠ in case it happens again though. For the most part it is just a hiccup that recovers within a few minutes or a game restart

Hello, i have a problem since the start of this war, I join the war and 1-2 minutes after deploying foxhole starts having hardware lag which gets stronger, then my pc blackscreens with sounds still going into the background then eventually stops and i can't even pull up task manager and i am forced to restart my PC. I'm also have some of the Vc/lag/disconnection issues that others above are having. I have upwards 850 hrs in Foxhole, but like others say this started about a week ago. The most jarring/confusing issue is when I open the map in game or either in home region my FPS drops from 80 down to 23. I changed the cap to 60 reduced my settings to medium from ultra(where i've had them for 850hrs+) and opening the map still drops my frames to 23. Admittedly the FPS changes depending on what side of the map i'm looking at, far into the enemy side fps climbs to 40ish. however looking at friendly zones or the front stutters along at 23- 30 fps.

i need some help i keep losing the Connection to the Server on Shard-1
it only shows the message "Connection to the server has been lost" at irregular intervals. Sometimes it disconnects 3 times in a row or it goes up to~2 Hours
I have tried all the Firewall and Windows Defender settings i found on the Internet and even disable them all together even on the Router.
Updated the graphic card an 980TI and set the Game to the lowest settings.
The PC is connected via a LAN Cable.
I Also closed all unnecessary Programs in the background.

All other Online Games work fine

If you are having server/ voice chat issues do this.... close out of foxhole/steam, Then reopen steam right click on foxhole in your games list (on left side) go to -Properties (should open separate window) go down to -Local Files-, and click on -Verify Integrity of game files- (this is a soft reset, It will scan Foxhole for any odd files and in the prosses relink to steam/visa versa. Effectively giving you a brand new connection from steam to foxhole.) i tried joining a queue at Great March and there were 9pax infront of me.... and i waited for so long and when finally i able to transit... during transit it said i lost connection and when i back at the Home region and tried to rejoin back great march.... there were 14pax infront of me.... i meant i already queue for so long and when there is an error indicating i lost connection... shouldn't i be the priority one instead i have to requeue again...... please advise.

at one point I got a bluescreen that said I had a "video scheduler internal error"

ran chkdsk on my boot drive, nuked and reinstalled video drivers, game file verification shows no issues.

Every time this crash happens I have to restart my computer.

I don't know any other game this GPU intensive as Foxhole. Had to go down from max Settings, as my GPU was hitting almost 90°C, while sitting on 100%.
