alright so i just got 6x slimes for fbt and i turned on lock head and hips because otherwise my camera is in my neck. now how tf do i orient these bones to not make my avi a hunchback or have it's chest poking out or laying down on a slant? ive been experimenting for a while and every time i fix one of these issue another one comes up. whats the secret combo for good fbt? can someone draw me a picture pls? that would actually be super helpful. here's what i got right now:

I am running into an issue i cant seem to fix on my own, I am trying to work on an avatar but cannot for the life of me fix one of the facial expressions that is broken. this is supposed to just be a blush and not a pink bar across the face what am i doing wrong? I am still pretty new to Unity but i am learning.

Nevermind i figured it out, I was using an outdated version of poiyomi, once i switched to the newest version i was able to adjust the alpha cutoff and fixed it.

can someone help me with an isssue? everytime i try to upload a avatar it says it needs to remove the avatar descriptor and pipeline managaer, which you need that to upload. ive tried uninstalling unity, and tried using diffrent sdk's because i use vrchats sdk. ive never had this issue where i just cant upload my avatar, i cant upload even regular avatars.

Can I make a Expressions Menu toggle that swaps one animation with another on a certain Animator layer state?

On a side note, do you happen to know if it's possible to detect whether you have enabled hand tracking or not in any way? I'd love to make it so that my facial gestures disable themselves whenever I go into hand tracking, but I'm unsure if that's feasible.

Mainly because gesturing with your fingers will still produce facial animations the same way as if you were using controllers, and looks a bit off. I have a toggle for it, but being able to automate it would be much nicer

Hello im reaching out because my BlendShapes are clamped (stuck at 0).

The Skinned Mesh Renderer Component reads: "note that blendshape weight range is clamped this can be disabled in player settings."

Does anyone know what is going on with Unity 2022? I have been using first bloodborn sdk to upload my model. Failed. Then i used the new VRCSDK, failed again. Then i made a whole new file of unity with just the VRCDK new one i just downloaded and the model i paid for. and i get this.

Also that same issue is happening with another model i am doing as commision.

it's better to export a .fbx instead of that. In the export dialog, set "apply scalings" to FBX All and under "armature", turn off leaf bones.
Also make sure you aren't exporting cameras or lights, just armature + mesh

Texutres won't automatically show up, you'll need to import the texture files into Unity and make materials with them.

Looks like you're on desktop mode but not your friend. It could be their own settings if they setup stuff wrong, like wrong IRL height. It might not even be broken, looks like they're slouching in a chair. Probably not close enough to the ground for the Grounded param to trigger, which would trigger a sit pose. Without fbt, the avatar naturally crosses its legs when sitting while being high up. You should add something like GoGoLoco to give them poses, is what I'm guessing.

why am I getting this artifacting on this hammer I modeled? It's got SOMETHING to do with the UV's, but I've got no clue how it's breaking like this. There's nowhere I can see on the UVs that has any significant overlap that would cause issues i've seen like this before (with mipmapping)

Hey guys! I’m working on some League of Legends/TFT avatars with full animations, and I’ve set up some emotes to be triggered by buttons. They work great, the emote plays and reverts back to idle. But I’ve noticed I have to wait a few seconds before I can use the same emote again.

I'm using the default VRCActionLayer as it's already half set up so it's easier for me, and I don't know the deep logic of doing that myself yet. Other emotes/animations are handled in a separate FX layer as simple toggle animations.

Is there a way to make the button-triggered emote instantly reusable without delay? Any tips or ideas would be super appreciated!

I want to make it as realistic as possible with the lates VRCSDK3 tools. but I dont know how to get information of the VRC Receivers in what direction the finger collider did entered it or if I make multiple receivers, what would be more complicated and less performant, to make a bool or int sequence of which receiver are touched to enable parameters to start a animation that will move the shapekey.
But that would be the more complicated plan B, hope there is an easier way?

Probably will end up using multiple contacts. Like two, to detect orientation. It can still be optimized, have the second one always disabled until the first one is made contact with. Then it activates the second one. You probably won't need to worry about it, it's okay if some flashy toys are performance-costly as they'll be disabled 90% of the time.

So yeah, in the "Parameter" slot on the contact receiver, you put in the variable you want it to toggle, and it'll be active while the sender is in the receiver.

But if you want this to be the kind of button you push to turn on then push to turn off, you'd need two variables, one you put in the contact receiver to know when it's touched, then another that you build some animation logic to toggle using VRC Avatar Parameter Driver.

Why does my unity keep doing this?

The initial uploading of the avi all the way up until after the building and compressing data is perfectly fine. But it get's stuck at like a quarter building then it just fails and then gives me the option to press ok to the ownership agreement, I press it and then instant failure.

There are many recommendations here, above, and below how to fix the pose.

T-pose is preferred and should be setup in blender, but if you use GoGoLoco it'll change it to T-Pose when calibrating for FBT. Just so you know. It's an anim in the baselayer.
You should also set it to humanoid rig, you'll do that by clicking the FBX.
The animator above the vrc avatar descriptor is also toggled off, it should be toggled on.

VRChat doesn't support animating physbone properties, like toggling them on/off. It does work but strange behavior like what you're experiencing happens. You're also animating the gameobjects it controls, so you need to toggle on IsAnimated.
*Try setting them to 1.0 then upload and see. If don't work, turn back to 1.1.
*Might have to seperate the physbone on/off into an animation then you change the rotation on a subsequent one. Or move the rotation property a few frames ahead of the physbone on/off properties. Just one/two might not be enough.

In the future, a text description is preferred and screenshots. I had to watch that video 3 times to get it.

attempting make a particle system for an avatar where something shoots out, hoping to have it be usable for vr and nonvr players. i got the particle system set up, and gesture control stuff for the vr players all figured out, but is there some kind of parameter one could add that checks if the left mouse button is being clicked to do the same thing? if thats how it works lol (this is for an avatar, not an object in a world!)

Desktop players can press shift+f1 (or some variation) to grip, and other gestures. Deskies usually figure it out, so they can do face expressions. You could probably just also add a "manual fire" toggle, as there are some VR players with DYI controllers that can't do the finger gestures needed either, and they'd appreciate it too.

Easiest fix is get it into Blender, use cat's "fix model." It might break other things but you can click the cog/wrench symbol and toggle things off. You should get GestureManager and run it in Unity, then you'll see what you'll end up seeing in VRChat. You could probably just click the FBX, and change its rotation to 90 somewhere.

If the bones in the FBX are green, they are correct. Assuming everything is mapped correct (left finger in left finger, etc). If the error is shown in the SDK panel, it's probably that a gamemode is not the direct childobject. hips>spine>chest>head. hips>leg>knee>ankle. A screenshot would help.

In the animator on the right side, you should see Avatar. Click that and it should lead you to the FBX.
If it doesn't, it's somewhere in those folders. If you really can't search fbx, maybe t:prefab helps finding it.

Very cropped. Harder to see. The blue figure is withing the FBX. click the < arrow or something to close it. YOu have found the FBX file. It goes in Blender. The blue thing is the avatar definition, and not the FBX itself.

Forearm is not in elbow, it is under it. See how Hand is in Forearm? It needs to be like that. Drag-drop. Do for both sides. Do for everything else. The names aren't easy, so you should try to figure out what goes where. By seeing the FBX, the green screen, you can click on them to figure out where things are, and it tells you what is what.

I'm having a pretty weird problem and not sure how to resolve it exactly. I have a blep expression on my avatar controlled by a gesture. The blep activates a blendshape and a physbone at the same time, which gives the tongue physics. The problem: when the expression is turned off, sometimes the tongue actually manages to clip through the jaw and get stuck rather than returning to its original position inside the mouth?? I'm checking in Unity and the physbone always turns off completely so how could it possibly be getting stuck? I am genuinely confused lol. Also this usually only happens in VR because theres such organic movement that I can't really replicate in Unity, so it's a nightmare to test.

You mean the sio_simplebikini? You want that to go into Blender alongside the FBX? It's its own different asset, messing with it could break your toggle system and other blendshapes. The clothes are also an FBX that you can add the same way. There is an FBX exporter method to merge the two into a single FBX and export both together into Blender, but might cause breakage.

Somewhere. But it's easier for you to find out where the radial toggle is. You have GestureManager, so you can use that to test the toggle in Unity. Leave playmode after. It'll show you what param is being enabled. Then you can look for that in the FX layer. The layer that has the radial toggle has the anim in a state. You can double click it and it will take you to where it is. Then you use the Animation tab, select that anim in it, then click the clothing mesh. You'll see its skinned mesh renderer, and a blendshape section, and find the correct one.

Sure, the breast float. Somewhere in your FX controller there is a layer. Probably called boobs, but maybe something more obscure (if more obscure, something that uses the breast float). In there you'll find your anim.

Top right. Double click the anim file. It'll take you to where it is. Then you can spawn the animator tab. I've forgotten the keybind for it (maybe ctrl+6), but one of the tabs at the top "file, view, etc" can also spawn it. Then in there, you select it, there's a drop-down menu. And you click the mesh and find its blendshapes so on.
It's probably best you try on your own without the updates, and return if you get stuck.

You click on your avatar. The top gameobject that has the vrcavatardescriptor. Because it has the animator. Then you open the Animation tab. Then you find the anim file in it. Then edit properties should be visible.

So it's the other thing. It really should have come with a controller that contains all the anim files. It should go in the Animator, instead of Sio_2 (a controller). I think that exists, switch to it. You'll know it's correct if it has just a single layer, and all the anim files in it. It'll look messy. Then you get all your anim files back in the Animation tab. They need to be present in the animator controller in for them to become available to the Animation tab. It might not be called Sio_1. Might be called something else. Don't add the FX layer there.
If for some reason you can't find one, you can instead find the folder that contains all your anim files, and drag-drop them into the animator (near that orange layer would work, anywhere on the dark surface).

Seems like it works fine. Just that it shoots forward when you're in Animating because you have the bicycle pose. In GestureManager, your character is idling and shoots up because the gun is held up? Or go into the particle system, renderer, view, and change it or some other settings there.

most of those things are not specific to one avatar, you'll find general tutorials and just have to pick the appropriate materials or mesh renderers on your avatar.
re: increasing bust size, if there is already a blendshape on the body, use that. If not, you'd need to do some modeling in Blender or similar.

For adding outfits.. it depends on what you have. If they're designed specifically for that avatar, probably it's pretty easy and the outfit comes with instructions.

I tried to shorten legs on avatar but when I put it in unity(by replacing file with unedited avatar) everything except model(meaning hitboxes and positions) itself gets scaled like 50 times.

I've been wondering. Is there a way to switch what part of your model is considered the hands for the sake of interactions? Like if you had a second set of mechanical arms would there be a way to switch those to be the ones you interact with everything with instead of your normal hands?

@frank helm nope, grabbing colliders are immutable, as well as what ik drives. you can assign some finger colliders to other bone via vrcfury, so the 2nd set of hands can collide with physbones, but not grab

Why not just take those files and put them into the unity folder. Unless you're saying that the images themselves are changing when you do that. In which case I would try opening the texture files that are in the unity folder and edit them to be darker

Sounds like you don't have a clue where to even start. So start simple. Find a pre-made model and learn how to port it into Unity and make that into an avatar. No fancy gimmicks just the bare minimum. There are plenty of Youtube tutorials for the basics like these. Afterwards, you can learn how Visemes work aka what makes your mouth moves when speaking.

You must obtain at least "New User" Trust Rank in our Trust and Safety system in order to upload content. You can get this by just spending a few hours in VRChat, hop some worlds, and make some friends. Give it some time and you'll be able to upload content in no time.

As an aside, you must have a VRChat account to upload content. That means you can't use a Steam account, Oculus account, or Viveport account to upload content like worlds or avatars.

I'm so confused and trying to figure this out. I'm working on an edited avatar. I copied the phys bone component to the edited avatar, which is in the first pic. The second pic is the original avatar.
I applied the phys bone to the face
But for some reason, the edited avatar has phys bone on the tongue while the original one doesn't as you can see in the pics. Both settings are the same.

Physbones apply to all children of the bone they are placed on. You can ignore it with the "ignore transforms" slot, or put it on a different bone.
