Very poor and poor avatars are avatars that are not well optimised, they can be poor for a lot of different reasons like high textures or a lot of bones and outfits.
Only reason some of mine are very poor on quest is because of the poly count. Every other aspect is fine

Will the physbone update make all avatars made before 3.0 no longer useable or will it convert their dynamic bones to physbones?
all the dynamic bones will get Auto converted to physbones and everybody will also get collider's in their heads and hands for playing with physics bones

yes you'll be able to tweak the colliders that's just the freebies all avatars get so everyone doesn't have to update their avatars to be able to touch the physics bones
and not have to deal with oh no the public Avatar I'm wearing the maker hasn't been online in 6 months so they can't update the avatar
I Do wonder how adding all of those colliders will balance out the increase in performance from physbones
well at minimum physics Bones is like 20 times faster
and also they can probably make the colliders a little more clever than Dynamic bones

No. If they wanna put an intro on their Avatar they're gonna find out how to do it eventually. If you want it to be less annoying then tell them how to make it less annoying. Because they might end up making a global spawn sound instead of a small one because they don't know any better.
guys dumb question, when in vr do triggering expression with keyboard using shift+f1 shift+f2 shift+f3 still work in vrchat or does not?
there are very few ways to make an "intro" not be annoying. 99% of the time I see them, it's an instant avatar-hide. it's annoying, doesn't add anything to the quality of the avatar, and interrupts ongoing conversations
Telling them off doesn't help anyone, you're just wasting time and energy you could be using to help them make it a better experience for everyone.
Your personal bias shouldn't be a factor when helping someone out with their problem. Taste is subjective.

Who says you can't tell them that but also teach them how to do it? They're the one having to deal with the consequences, not you.

I know and can think of things that the current system does horrifically such as the IK 'pop' when you stop walking or opening the menu still setting the Upright to 1.0 folding most avatars.

Plug in an emissions map there, if the model came with one. If not, figure out where you wanna add lighting, and black everything else out in a photo editor

Please do not import a blender file to Unity. It adds a ton of unnecessary data and filesize. Just export as FBX

In your Unity project, u can change the current build from PC/Windows to Android(Quest)
when you upload content whilist the Android mode, it will upload that vrchat content to the Android side of the pipeline
if ur on the PC/Windows build your uploads to vrchat are for the Windows/PC pipeline
so once you have made your Windows/PC upload on an avatar, switch the build to Android, give it time to load, and then upload again
remember that the only way vrchat knows what its uploading too is by the Avatar or World ID, and each can have 1 Android and 1 PC/Windows side of them
if thats an easier way of thinking about it
because once your in game and you run into the person, the avatar you see will of course differ depending on what device you are on (Quest or PC/Windows)
Also don't use mods/clients they are lame pls uninstall

the avatar/world ID shouldnt change when you change your current build mode

Yo, the way to create new handposes in unity is through the animator.(LeftOrRight)hand.finger.bonenumber.Stretched(OrSpread). But what if I made an animation using just bone rotations (Transforms). Can I convert these to the other (animator) format somehow? Or do I have to redo it using the proper animator format?
you have to animate the muscles, can't animate the transforms

that error means the SDK can't find the built avatar because the build was aborted due to other errors
so look for other errors in the console

So I have a question. I see a lot of avatars (with me playing on quest) with dynamic bones. How is it that I can’t implement that into my avatar?
Dynamic bones is a whitelisted 3rd party script, I believe the reason its not available on quest is the amount of cpu to run it can be a lot, especially for a mobile processor
Quest doesn’t have dynamic bones. People are making animations for their hair and whatnot to ‘sway’ using Angular Y and/or Velocity X/Y/Z
It’s all manual animations rather than physics calculations

there isn't a hard date set, and any content created with SDK2 will continue to work until it doesn't, it could be soon, it could be years from now, vrchat isn't going to kill it themselves actively
you'll still be able to use the avatars just vrchat not going to do anything if they eventually break from a a future update down the line
they just don't want people making new SDK 2 content so it doesn't suck as much when it eventually breaks
and sdk3 is better
it's better, but for avatars that used what 3.0 avatars consider the gestures/action/FX layers, all in one.
for me, that's better and reduces the amount of work, by like 5 hours at least.
especially given all the new Avatar features they're currently working on

making arms longer isn't easy, you would need fix uv's if they gonna have problem and rig.

Oh yeah film and videogames are SUPER different in terms of performance. Film needs to look as good as possible but remember you can render a film over the course of a week lol. Videogames need to run in realtime so you have to make sacrifices with optimizing performance

Very high resolution textures can cause problems for people who have less than 4GB of VRAM.

Textures only have a noticeable performance impact when they cause your GPU's VRAM to be exceeded, because then the lower speed and higher latency of system RAM compared to VRAM becomes a performance bottleneck.
Or if you just have a potato GPU.

Once Avatar Dynamics releases (sometime this summer most likely) yes. Currently the only other way is to use Rigidbodies which is much less optimized and takes a lot more setup to work

Ideally, yes, for any avatar I'm using. Currently I'm not permitted to upload an avatar and even if I could it would first involve a ton of learning how to create one - just to support my 'KatVR-style' tracking hardware.

On that subject (and avatar upload privileges et al), I completely understand that VRC has needed to generate revenue to cover operating costs but now it's attracting venture capital I'd have thought paywall-ing such basic access is something to abandon in favour of growing the user base. Just seems a bit anti-user in this day and age and an invitation for new operators to swoop in and achieve quick growth through lower barriers to entry. The typical model monetizes users once they're in the platform.

You're already invested, I get that, but as a newcomer I think the model is flawed and ripe to be superceded by a newcomer that doesn't implement such barriers. Understandable in the early days but it's different ball game now, investment is flowing.
Most everything I see about VRC suggests it won't be able to compete.
Another social VR game allowed for uploads immediately, they have had maybe 20-50 max online at once since launching last year. It was supposed to be the VRChat killer, it wasn't, none have been.
This conversation should be taken to #general-media or one of the two #vrchat-general-1 #vrchat-general-2 as it doesn't pertain to SDK3 though
If you'd like to upload immediately without playing and understanding how things are, pay for VRC+. If you'd like to learn about the game, play for a while until you get to New User rank, then go ham with creating if you really want.

or surrounding your glowing bit in a alpha texture to make the little glow circle

so yeah emissive material is about the best you can get on the quest

Fairly sure that the default Rantichi fits within that for PC if you remove dynamic bones.

If using the default Rantichi you can have it be green, but you need to remove the colliders and dynamic bone support. If you've added clothes or accessories, you just need to possibly combine meshes and materials to fit within the Green performance rank

That usually comes along with an error in the console, which is also usually preceded by at least 1 other error. You need to check the console and fix the errors that are anything other than one that says something about a prefab not existing

if it is uploading now, that's good, but as far as no errors, you probably have errors hidden in the log, unity creating prefabs when you attempt to upload means there are errors for sure

Could have been that Unity failed to compile a script, restarting it caused it to correctly compile it. Unknown without knowing the error before restarting

Sounds like a unity thing
Right click the file, choose "Open With", then select "Choose another app" and select Unity in there
If Unity isn't in that list you'll have to browse to the EXE

Pretty sure it amounts to taking a copy of the locomotion controller and just deleting those animations from the hierarchy. Or creating a toggle that disables those animations

Tried removing the animations from the blend tree and it made my model try to bicycle pose when I moved.
Only other thing I know of that might be able to help would be gogoloco. I believe it has a toggle that halts leg movement

I got a taste of what PhysBones collision could be in CVR, it was really cool. Really hype for PhysBones for VRChat, although I hope they disable Dynamic Bones inside that update, or at least enforce a grace period for phaseout.

if you need to actually create your own visemes the method depends on whether or not your avatar has facial bones or just a mesh that you'll need to shape.

so far one of my only complaints with avatar dynamics is the massive step per integer increment when changing stuff like the location of a receiver or the size of a bone collider, I have to use really small decimals otherwise the size difference is massive
