(Modded SDKs are against the ToS and could get you banned)

Sound is heavy to process so unlikely this generation, also VRChat would need to put in heavy safeguards since it was a real easy way to crash Quest users before.

3s is more common since it's a bit cheaper but the 3 has a wider view with better "graphics". Overall, I would recommend the Q3 but if you are looking for a slightly cheaper option, go for the Q3s.

depending on how you connect it, you can either go wireless or connect it to the PC itself. People go wireless with Steamlink or Virtual Desktop but I know people recommend the Virtual desktop since it runs it better compared to steamlink. If you're asking which one we would recommend, if you want to save a bit of money - go with the 3s but if you want to go all out, go with the 3.

My old one has a charging port but sometimes it disconnects and I cant tell if its the link cable, the headset, or Meta's dumb app

The app will say that my headset is connected but when I put on my headset it wont detect the cable it will just say its charging.
Sometimes in order for me to reconnect I either have to restart my entire pc and my headset or I have to "repair" the meta app and then restart my pc. after doing the second option it lets me play for a while, it still disconnects but im allowed to reconnect but I just dont understand why it keeps doing this every time I play.

I even thought maybe its my ports but nothing else that Ive plugged into has any problems (I use my blue ports of course)

My suggestion is just update and restart everything. Unplug the cable from the PC and the headset

If you can launch VRchat from desktop mode so you can clear your cache from in there (as I don't know how or if it's possible to clear the files)

If you changed your world go to the VRchat website and change it back to the original homeworld as your current may be unavailable for some reason

depending on how long you've had the headset it might be an issue with the actual battery? like most rechargeable devices if you use it while its plugged in or go below 20-15% charge range often you degrade the batteries lifetime

The one I use for my Quest 2 (and was compatible with Quest 3) Kiwi Design stopped selling unfortunately, was cheap, was comfortable when resting my head against things but the addition above should do something similar.

Having a comfortable soft strap is imo way better than having a hard strap like all Quest headstraps are.

Everytime I try to use my quest 2 with link cable after 30 second or 5 minutes my headset freezes and gets pixelated on edges of frame the game still runs and works on the desk top view but headset is froze, then if you try to disconnect and reconnect it won’t detect the headset until restart, I’ve uninstalled repaired the meta app I’ve factory reset my headset I’ve updated all my drivers. I’ve found lots of people that have same issue but havent found a solution. Figure if anyone knew how to fix it someone here might be able to help me out. (Just wanna play some pc vrchat)

Feature wise VD has everything Steam Link has and more now, including the all important dynamic foveated encoding.
OVR advanced settings, as also mentioned, while paid nowadays, is what people use to playspace move if you weren't aware.
You will of course want VRCFaceTracking for face tracking to work within VRChat.

Aside from that I don't think there is anything.

It is only really useful for those with full body, but it allows you to drag yourself up or down (and all other orientations) within VRChat.
Finding it hard to explain, but basically, you lay down on a bed, but realize that the colliders don't line up leaving you floating, with place space moving you can move your playspace down, which moves you down in game.

Other example would be the opposite, you want to stand or lay down on something without colliders (stuff that you can jump up on, stuff that stops you from moving through a wall or falling through floor), so you lay down and then playspace move up.

No, it will not, there is nothing special about using an external microphone instead of the built in one, you just need to make sure you set the microphone to the modmic one, as by default it will probably be your headset mic.

Well whether you remember to do it or not then, playspace moving (it is under the motion tab in advanced settings) needs to be turned on manually and you also need to set up keybinds for it as there are no default ones.

It is either an animation they toggle (could be partially automatic too I guess, don't know if it is), gogo loco is the common prefab used for this or something like IOBT or Standable, which is full body estimation, IOBT is a built in Quest feature that Virtual Desktop exposes as SteamVR trackers and Standable is a thing you can get from the Steam store, the latter supports laying down and sitting and looks alright imo.

You really should do a lot more research, but I guess the minimum to look for is a laptop with at least 16GB of RAM and a dedicated graphics card with at least 8GB of VRAM.

But unless you are buying second hand then that's easily above 1000$ and of course, laptops aren't really meant to be running at full tilt the entire time, which they would with VRChat, it shortens their lifespan.

Everytime I try to use my quest 2 with link cable after 30 second or 5 minutes my headset freezes and gets pixelated on edges of frame the game still runs and works on the desk top view but headset is froze, then if you try to disconnect and reconnect it won’t detect the headset until restart, I’ve uninstalled repaired the meta app I’ve factory reset my headset I’ve updated all my drivers. Assuming you didn't just click your rank on your profile which "hides" your higher rank and making you appear as a user.

Your trust rank isn't permanent, if you remove friends, worlds and public avatars that gained you "points" then you loose "points".
You could of course also have been moderated, there is a bit of a delay to ranking in my experience.

Does anyone know how to fix the problem on the Quest 3 when the pass-through mode turns on for a fraction of a second and the in-game position is reset? This happens to me all the time and it's very annoying. I think the problem might be related to the proximity sensor, but trying to clean it, cover it with tape, or bring the headset closer to my face hasn't solved the issue. It's clearly not related to the tapping to the side of the headset gesture (the switchover during the problem occurs faster than it would be possible to switch over by tapping), and there's no separate pass-through button on the headset like on the Quest 3s, so it's not the problem. Sometimes, this glitch leads to an even more severe glitch: the "you've left the game area" menu appears, but it doesn't respond to button presses and can only be closed by restarting the device. I hope someone knows how to fix this

Thanks for the tip. It was some kind of glitch in the vr helmet's positioning system. I couldn't even set a new boundary. I don't know what Meta developers vibecoded, but the button to create a new boundary only started working after I switched the quest 3 interface to a different language.

This seems like a hardware issue and you should seek someone to fix it or get a replacement. If you cannot get into the menu then there isnt much a way to do anything. You CAN try factory resetting it if you are okay with logging back into everything

If this is in USD AND for just the GPU I would say try to get a used 5090 or 4090... or anything with a lot of VRAM really
Most people are CPU bottlenecked in VRChat so I'd say you should probably get a "worse" card that still has 16GB of VRAM or more, and invest towards a CPU with lots of cache (like the amd x3d processors)
And if you're actually loooking at making an entire build, then that's another question and depends on whether you are okay with used parts or not

I don't have eye tracking, I'm using the controllers with a Quest 3, not a Quest Pro.

If you don't care about the expressions then you can go into the radial menu's settings and under avatar turn off gestures, assuming you are using the SteamVR version of VRChat your fingers will still move, but use SteamVR's hand system instead.

There isn't really anything concrete you can do to make the capacitive sensors more reliable, they seem to get worse over time and their reliability also depends on your body, with how capacitive friendly it is.

At best all you can really do is try to clean off the sensors (=the areas that are capacitive) as they may have been covered in too much skin oil.

This is likely an issue with the proximity sensor on the headset. If you're not aware, that sensor is used to detect whether or not you are wearing the headset to go into sleep mode or shut down. If you have developer mode on, (Which if you've sideloaded anything before, you probably do) you can go into SideQuest and turn off the proximity sensor in either your Cast settings or the "Enter ADB Command" button.

I'm having a similar issue, currently stuck in prismic, when people try accepting my invite requests it tells them something along the lines of "incorrect world version", my avi isn't loading, nor am I able to leave the world, there's also a lot of worlds on the menu that show 0 players but when going into them it shows the active servers (and this shows up on worlds like yts and popcorn Palace, worlds that are never empty)

Most avatars are not optimized for quest (so the second you full view it your capping out the date you can load and eventually can crash because the system can't handle it) or they are simply not uploaded to be viewed by quest at all.

So you have to toggle on and off people if you want to see an avatar but you can't have all of them as not showing imposters unless you get a better VR headset

So when someone uploads an avatar, they have to upload the PC and Quest version separately. The two platforms also have different content limitations like polygons, shaders, size (mb), so sometimes a creator will not want to take the time to make their content work on quest.

Barring that the charging port on your Quest has gotten stuffed with lint or something thereby making cables have a bad connection, I would probably point towards the box, you wouldn't believe what big of a mess USB-C is and who knows if that box of yours implemented everything correctly and specifically the power delivery standard that Quest headsets use.
