Yeah, VRChat still works the same, you'd just have to hope that someone uploaded a Scott Pilgrim related avatar as public and then find it.
Uploading avatars yourself is quite complicated and daunting for beginners (especially if the model wasn't made for VRChat).

Don't go to public instances of worlds expecting a good experience, VRChat has grown far beyond being a single community, making publics a bit of a mess.

In my opinion the best beginner experience is gotten by going to meetups organized by one of the communities in VRChat, usually through Discord.
If you don't already know about any then #community-servers-old is a good starting point.

I created a short video earlier in regards to the Quest 3's microphone (for those of us that had problems with the microphone) and finally found a fix that actually works perfectly for amplification/clarity within Steam for the "Steam Streaming Microphone" of course works with Airlink too. I’m thinking about upgrading to a quest 3 from my reverb G2 in the next maybe 6 months or so, mostly for the jump in quality (edge to edge clarity and all) as well as hand tracking and other fun stuff, just a better headset overall
Anyways, a couple questions if you don’t mind

1. How well does airlink work, and how long does the battery last in standalone mode? Is the quality noticeably reduced? If I do play tethered, can I expect to receive the same visual fidelity over USB-C that I get over DisplayPort now? Will I be able to play in the same PC-only spaces and with the same bad performance avatars I’m used to?
2. Does hand tracking work in VRC, and if so, how well?

1. Airplay works well, but thats determined by your wifi strength ultimately. graphics wise is consistently the same over wireless or wired. in fact if you have fast enough wifi, i.e. wifi 6 there is no real difference between tethered or not, aside from the cable also providing charge, for longer play times. whether you choose airlink or wired for your Quest link, it is still a pcvr environment, so it would be as you expect it to be in game wise.

2.Hand tracking has gotten better, but its still not perfect, also of note, it only works in standalone mode.

3. battery life, standard will probably run you a 2-3 hours. you may wish to invest in a battery pack or battery strap of some sort. or play tethered, which is my perferred method.

mhm, mixed reality is a game changer all its own. so you may enjoy standalone on occasion for it. the pass through is very nice. as are the pancake lenses. as far as vrc goes, all the features you are used to will be the same, the better lenses is what will give you the better visual fidelity. so an upgrade all around.

I have noticed a performance difference between using Oculus Link/Airlink versus either Virtual Desktop or Steam Link, which are both wireless streaming options over wifi

I used to use Leap motion for that on Vrchat when i had a Dk2, back then it was more experimental of course, but since then things have improved to extreme levels, now they have the Ultra leap which is very accurate and in vrchat it tracks fingers pretty well.

If you got around that then Meta will have objections about your app being on their store.

Quest has very limited RAM compared to a PC.
While the Quest 3 has more RAM, the Quest 2 isn't going to be discontinued and unsupported for a while so they have to build the game around having 4GB of RAM available (6GB total, but games only get access to 4GB).

On PC we usually have 16GB+8GB (RAM+VRAM).

Hello, everyone. I'm having an issue with the built-in recording feature in Quest 3.

I can't capture the in-game audio, but the microphone audio is working fine.

I've tried recording the same content multiple times, and sometimes there's sound, but other times there isn't. So, it shouldn't be a copyright issue.

I've also tried restoring factory settings and booting the device.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

So this is mostly a guess, but it might be your graphics card, it is not broken (probably) and I am not even sure if updating drivers would help, but weird black dots are something I have encountered before with AMD graphics cards.

In the instance I encountered personally it was regarding mesh data that was corrupted, however I have also heard that some specific shaders just don't work well with AMD GPUs.

As it is only happening when you are using a single avatar, I would guess that the avatar has some shader on it, that likely applies to your vision, which is causing it.
But that is just a guess, if it wasn't for the fact that it only happens when using a single avatar then it would have sounded like one of those bugs Meta introduced in an update.

ah, quest 1 does not natively support steam link, you'd have to sideload it

steam link is just a separate app on the quest to connect wirelessly to a pc

if its not an issue for you you could just plug it to the wall with the provided 18w charger and you can play all day long. or yeah you need a 10000mah battery ( or more ) with at least 18w output and people will tell you if they use one with no coilwhine I guess

well I did for 4 years on quest 2 with no issues at all. and quest 3 have no battery. When your playtime is 1h to 1h30 for me its like you have no battery at all. maybe its ok for my grandma that will play the demo games but for me this is pointless

pinoquest and Viso are camera based phone tracking, pino is $20 for a year of full body, viso is free

If you use slime servers, you can make your own trackers too 🙂

Because of ASW, or whatever the specific type is called, it seems like a Quest 30 feels better than a PC 30.

I have anyhow tried to optimize my worlds so Quest players will at the very least run at full fps when alone, that is very hard.

And I have a properly optimized Quest avatar that ironically isn't helping me to get numbers most would experience, since most use quite terrible very poor avatars.

and if you're not in a world with 60 unoptimized avatars, you will get around 100 fps usually
