Turns out they're severely limited, and if your avatar isn't essentially ranked medium or higher without them, or if you exceed particle limitations, the particle system is completely removed.

Unfortunately particles are HEAVILY limited on Quest, and are generally not advised to be used. I had to abandon them on mine because my avatar is (barely) very poor (due to SDK3 features) so they won't render on Quest.

It’s a blender thing, select your avatar’s mesh and duplicate it, and go I to the faces, normals settings and flip them so you see the inside of the avatar instead of the outside

Because for desktop it has animations because there is zero tracking for your character.

On quest since it’s three points; controllers, and headset. So the legs will have a default walking animation and no idles

Oh, I understand, did you remove one of the animators for the avatar? Because avatars are dependent on their animators, and you have to make sure that the avatar has humanoid rigging.

So I'm a quest player and have started doing avatar retextures. So far they only show for Quest users even when I upload them for both PC and Quest. When I upload for PC it says to publish to unsupported. DO know I'm using a macbook to upload the avatars, as I don't know if that affects it. Any suggestions on how to fix it not showing for PC? If you're talking about making one from scratch, then your best bet would probably be to reference mobile games and how they do things. A lot of the models this one guy, grazekai makes are from mobile, and those still look impressive. If not, then there is this thing called Autoquest out there that you could try. Haven't tried it myself, but it looks promising

Same pipeline as usual however you'll be doing A LOT of decimating in blender (and it may look kinda jank). Depending on the model you may also have to use blender to cut out parts of the meshes with the knife tool to fix transparencies because the quest shaders don't have cutout support

Note that it WILL look chunky after you decimate the textures for quest usage and that's just the way things are. The polygon count for quest that is recommended is REALLY low and all

I would note that edge Loop dissolving would make it look look a lot less bad but still low-poly as you're not turning it into random triangle soup

if you have the package and can upload it yourself, i suggest looking at videos for uploading avatars/optimizing avatars for quest

not very many most if not all of us are only adding the new phys bones to our personal avatars
it's been in open beta for only 3 days, so I wouldnt expect many, if any, public avatars with phys bones (quest dynamic bones) anytime soon
i have heard of a few but you'd have to clone it off whoever has it
