Each tracker is cheaper than Vive's, but if you don't have receivers already you need one and that brings the price up to equivalent. for v2s at least. Still probably cheaper than the V3s.

Do note that while the Quest 2's a standalone VR headset, it can connect to your computer through a link cable or Virtual Desktop/ALVR o:
Virtual Desktop's pretty much just the link cable without the cable part, and ALVR's a free and open-source equivalent to Virtual Desktop, but can be a bit tricky to setup apparently

Vive trackers and base stations work combined with a non base station tracked VR headset. Though it is somewhat unreliable.

Depends on if you consider the Vive trackers suddenly de-syncing with OVR advanced settings for space drag a major problem.

I have timed how long OVR space drag works for me before it de-syncs and it came out to be between 30 mins-2 hours.

Normally I would get the Index but I'm interested in the HTC Vive Cosmos wireless adapter as many people have asked me to do handstands or back flips which I can't really do with a Rift S due to it constantly wanting to fall off.

Normally I would use tape like I use for Vive trackers because again dancing in VRchat requires virtually no drift of the Vive trackers. But I don't think any amount of tape will make the headset tight enough. Not to mention the headache I would probably get due to reduced blood flow.

I used to use freaking elastic bands lmao
3 elastics per tracker in a triangular setup so they wouldn't shift in any direction
I got trackstraps now which are way more comfy but honest the elastic bands were less shaky

Rec room and VRchat are very different in terms of hardware requirements. The Oculus Quest 2 has problems running VRchat which is already heavily downgraded graphics.
