@wind zealot when i had 16gb of ram i would crash all the time after like 4hrs or so in vr vrchat. with 11gb vram. when upgrading to 32gb ram i dont crash or rarely crash once maybe on 12hr sessions (with chrome still being in background)

eye tracking for hmds is out for x ammount of time and is still not supported by vrc. thats why u need to use the inapp eye tracking through blender.

Very much depends on the person. I have had friends trying it who get sick after just 15 minutes, while I could play for hours on my first try. It is also something you get used to after a while. The most important thing is to stop immideately if you feel nauseous and try again later after drinking water.

The Quest headset is a bit different from other headsets. The Quest is a standalone headset running Android with a mobile processor, and is therefore weaker compared to PC-VR which is powered by a proper graphics card. This means when using a Quest headset you will not be able to see avatars unless they are specifically "Quest optimized" that is performance optimized to work on the quest. It is possible to get around this limitation by using a "Link cable" connecting your Quest to your PC, although this requires you to have a good desktop PC.

If you are going to run your Quest headset in standalone mode and you want to order an avatar, make sure you tell the creator to make it "Quest compatible" so you actually can use it and see it. If you are going to hook up your headset to your PC then it doesn't matter as much.

Don't worry about stupid questions. And you are correct, if you connect your Quest to your PC then you can use the performance of your graphics card and you will be able to see everyone.

If you are interest in digital art I would recommend at least attempting to make an avatar before commissioning one. A good place to start is downloading an already finished avatar and then customising it. Start simple by changing colors and textures, eventually maybe adding an item or changing hair or clothes. Can be a fun project.

@icy lake To upgrade to a VRChat account, do the following:

Log into VRChat with your Steam/Oculus account
Open your quick menu, then select Settings
Near the bottom of that menu, you'll see a button to "Upgrade Account"
Click that and you will get your token.
Go to the website and create a VRChat account. Enter your merge token and everything will be migrated over.

From this point log out of the game and only log in using VRChat.

That is the risk when buying a Quest. Facebook can ban you for things like "being underage" or "not using your full real name".

Go here https://tickets.oculusvr.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and select "I need help with an Oculus account". Fill out the fields. Under the "I need help with" drop-down, select "Accessing my Facebook account to use Oculus". Then wish for the best.

Focusing on terminology here is focusing on the insignificant side-detail, the fact that it becomes unusable and you are forced to sell it.

Yes, if you buy a purely digital good such as a game then DRM makes sense, even in single player to protect against piracy. But when you buy tangible, a physical hardware device, then this behaviour is arguably only anti-competitive. FB not only has a right but an obligation to terminate accounts of minors and thereby accessing the Oculus Store, but such termination should not limit the most basic usage of the hardware itself, similar to how you can use SteamVR and play local games without Steam or a Steam-account.

I would rather blame the clock on ram.. because Ryzen 7 1700x handles anything i do with ease.. and the 1080 barely breaks a swet no matter what i seem to do.

RAM is tied with CPU.... it either goes faster than it can handle or slower, but generally speaking it affects performance like ~10-12% more or less

One of my x8 sticks is 200mhz out but doesnt seem to make that much of a difference because i overclock everything anyways.. so not much noticeable difference

No.. overclocking the clock speeds of ram manually and increasing voltage.. and cpu voltage are entirely seperate.

Idk where else to ask this but I've seen some videos where people's cameras follow their movements realistically, for example the camera is smoothly/slowly bobbing as if someone where holding it and if the person turned or moved their body, the camera would rotate or move with them. It wouldn't deviate from the original place but still create realistic movement (dancers)

Colour of nameplate isn't always a good thing.. i had a user bother me constantly a few weeks ago kept going around saying Its the Legendary just because VRC+ really.. but yeah you certainly get alot of attention like that, not always a good thing when you have trolls around as you become the center of certain attacks particle wise/shader etc.

Two things. One, you log into unity SDK with a VRChat account, not the steam one. Two, I genuinely don't recommend uploading for other users.

I got my cv1 for £160 its perfectly fine i got it a while back now few weeks give or take.. 3 sensors 3 mounts for walls... double extension cable for the headset all works and its as good as new in my opinion.

Well if plasterboard walls i mean.. it wont look right anyways.. use adhesive and ruin the paint.. or screw it in and make sure you get a beam.. not worth it, i just stood mine up with a massive extension cable to it so i have 360d now.. some extension cables do not support the sensors so i had to buy a very specific one that everyone's reviewed based on vr alone.. was worth what i paid considering the distance its at behind me.

Yeah it depends on your distance, i have two sensors on my desk left/right but the one behind me is quite a distance so had to get a worthy extension.. because over a certain distance normally the sensors degrade in tracking quality.

Please remember that VRChat has been experiencing higher than normal player counts recently. Their servers may or may not be ready for the amount of bandwith going to and from players.

no like it refuses to sync at all and most of the time won't play for some people when started, in all worlds, and apparently me, my bf, and my friend all have had this issue recently. sometimes putting the link again or starting from the start works but not always and not for everyone
