I think there's a couple VRC event groups. To my knowledge none of them are like "official" VRC run events. I try to stay off discord as much as possible. Check their partners/community links thingy

Your username will not change, correct. The display name should be changable, pending the 90 day cooldown you mentioned and anyone sniping the name.

If you just released that name on your other account, there may be a delay until vrc lets you nab it back
