Perception Extension is a new plugin to allow changing AI Perception values during runtime in blueprints. Created for Universal Monster, but will definitely work for any project that uses the AI Perception Component. have you started investigating how it integrates in runtime generation plus nanite? maybe not a topic for around here but still xD good stuff 🙂
Nanite won't work with procedural gen & Epic has no plans on this area AFAIK.
But, I will work on a nanite-like rendering system for procedural meshes.
It won't be super-efficient like nanite (since it's fully GPU based), but will be good enough.

Hey guys. I finally completed the 90-second cinematic I was working on showcasing my Planet actor that I made. The actor uses the Sky Atmosphere component and is resizable (for which I had to override the class in C++ as by default you cannot change the radius via blueprints, but everything else is in Blueprints). I'm also using bump / displacement mapping for the mountains, varying reflectivity based on the type of surface, hdri skydome, night lights, rotating planet and clouds (not volumetric as I couldn't get volumetric clouds to look good enough from space) , etc.. The video is of Planet Earth but the actor is highly parameterized so it's easy to do other planets like Mars etc.. Feedback welcome please (and Like the video if you like it). nice audio design, lacks a bit of "daft" but mostly quite on spot (daft is my non audio word for reverb). yeah really enjoyable, would say 75% mastered ^^
Isn't it!? It looks so good - so glad we get to dabble in this tool now lol.
And that's terrific feedback! I spent a day and a half doing that and only used the raw sounds from Artlist and my own packs, I didn't add any reverb or extra effects. I wanted to see what I could make with all I had. This is excellent feedback though as you captured the lacking bits for sure!! I may revisit this project and tighten up the audio bits to match their physical space in the video. I have a tendency to work on a project and try and get it so far into perfection I never complete it. 2021 has been a focus on just doing projects and not getting married to perfect, work on it till I'm content and move on. Once I tackle my major projects I'll be much more thorough with this.

Everywhere I search, it keeps telling me the requirements of UE4. I need to know what my game (that I built in UE4) needs to play.
Steam needs exact minimum.
Wrong channel. And that's something you have to figure out yourself. every game needs different requirements
Just copy requirements from a game that you run similarly to yours, that's what I do lol

In Unreal Engine 5, when you imported a Megascan surface texture, it won't have the usual roughness & displacement textures. Instead, there's a packed ORD texture.
But it will be hard to use that with most of the existing landscape materials. So, here is the fix. Just click a button & everything is back to normal.

There are multiple things going on: multiplayer VR, motion capture (body and hands), virtual cameras, and an LED volume (used for visual reference). The collaborators are able to communicate with each other and the mocap model as well as change set, clothing, weather, and time of day.

So that might not be the best marketing line.
Good point they may not be the same target audiences so it might be better to use one or the other depending on where I am posting and what I expect people like more there.
It's like subnautica in regard to there is some exploration and crafting aspects with kind of an alien story theme.
It's like Zelda because there are 8 planets where each one gives you a new equipment that is kind of the gimmick for solving that planet and beating the boss (Similar to dungeons).

I managed to make @visual goblet's code driven UMG UI Tweening C++ functions exposed to Blueprints, and now it's available in my fork. Compiled and tested with UE4.27, expected to work with as far back as UE4.5+ and UE5.0+ with no modifications.

This system allows you to simply add the component to the actor and it should be able to interact with the foliage. Good afternoon / morning, everyone! After a lot of hard and careful work on this pack, I'm happy to say it's finally been officially released on the Unreal Engine marketplace. I had spent a good bit of time doing general research on ice caves, and getting inspired by studies such as this one: https://80.lv/articles/building-an-ice-cave-in-ue4/ by Senior Modeler Jamir Blanco, conducted over on 80.lv.
I had such a blast creating it, and I hope you all who plan on using it, do as well in your projects. It was my first time making a fully fledged asset pack for Unreal using Blender, so it was a lot of learning even now at my current knowledge levels, along the way and I had just such a great time all the way through.

We don't provide gameplay specific logic like inventory or player movement if that's what you're looking for. I don't know of any way you could modify the vertex colors on the GPU in UE4
As far as i know you'd need to update the vertex data from the CPU which would require C++. I can't think of a reason why someone would want to do this as it would require additional calls on the render thread just to update the vertex colors, which may not be ideal for performance if you need frequent updates.
However as long as it's a static mesh it's doable and you wouldn't even need a material to do this. But for skeletal meshes you need more tricks
It's a small tool. Started as a tutorial so others can set it up easily, then released an easy to use setup on the marketplace as well so if one doesn't want to bother with the tutorial can just grab it. So i don't really have future plans on extending this with more functionality. I'm working on a dynamic body dismemberment system right now for that I'll probably include a more advanced version of the mesh paint system to visualize bullet impacts & wounds.
I meant this as a bake and forget editor tool, not to dynamically update it, and yes, for skelmeshes. but I guess I'll pay a friend for such a tool :)

I am here to present Maze Breakout, a game available for free on Android. It's an adventure/action game with gameplay inspired by Binding of Isaac and League of Legends.
The Binding of Isaac side is found in the exploration, you will have to explore labyrinths, cross rooms, eliminate enemies ... in order to reach the final room and eliminate the boss!
The League of Legends aspect is found in the number of heroes available to help you overcome these 16 levels.. 10 heroes are available! All these heroes have 3 totally independent spells with interesting mechanics (for LoL fans... you may recognize some spells.. Ziggs, Vel'Koz, Akali, Zed, Xayah... just to name a few! :D)
New heroes will appear regularly and will be available in the store (totally free or for golds earned by finishing levels)
A "Training" mode allows you to train and familiarize yourself with your heroes, and to test the heroes that are not yet unlocked.

I kinda have to agree that its a very basic thing and cannot imagine it took more than 5 hours to collect all of these, at a slow pace.
The reading resources for unreal are messy, some beginner stuff is mentioned as intermediate, some intermediate stuff should be beginner, especially when its getting started content.
is it nice to have? sorta, its a very chaotic overview and at the very least you'd think you'd provide a decent step-by-step what links to follow to get started.

Tefels plugin is a very interesting plugin but there is a lot of difference between Tefels plugin and MGT.
- MGT allows dynamic gravity to be applied to any type of shape (sphere but also capsules, cubes, cones, cylinder, sphere deformed into an oval ...)
- MGT allows several players to be impacted simultaneously by different gravities (one player can run on a cylinder while another runs on a cone).
- MGT allows the application of modified gravity on real physical objects that the player can move (by pushing / shooting them).
- MGT allows several physical objects to move simultaneously in different gravitational universes: you can shoot a ball from a platform to send it into orbit around a sphere (check preview video).
- MGT provides a multiplayer host / join interface
- MGT is entirely in blueprint (no need to know c++) :)
- MGT provide a way to animate strafe and diagonal run
The Tefel plugin is a good plugin. MGT is simply built differently to better respond to a whole bunch of issues that we encounter in multiplayer games as well as in single player games. But I can't be sure without testing :p
ahah I'm sorry but I can't give you other answer than "I don't know".
I don't know much about Chaos but if it generates meshes from a larger object during a destruction then it is possible to add "AC_MGT_Component" on the mesh thus generated. AC_MGT_Component will calculate where is the nearest gravity generator and apply a gravity in direction of this one for all the concerned meshs.
BUT : I haven't tried it.
On the other hand, I thank you for your question. As soon as I have a moment, it makes me want to test.

@sick plover The idea is not to replace google authenticator. It allows you to actually use OTPs in your application to enable multi-factor authentication or other usages where you feel it's useful to have unique code generation. That's why it features otpauth and QR code generation. So you can integrate it into your app and use google authenticator or others for validation.

@sick plover not a bad idea, I did seperate the houses in folders in the world outliner in the example level it comes with. I'm actually not familiar with creating prefabs in Unreal engine without plugins, is it easy to do? (sorry I come from CryEngine)
I mean just have pre made house meshes that are ready to drop into a level instead of each piece individually
so just put the pieces down in a level and merge it into 1 mesh
Ah okay so like a merged actor, got ya! That is simple enough to do. I think there is actually a way to group assets with blueprint without merging but I'm not sure how exactly

Hello fellow film makers,
I have finished my short film in UE5 and would like to share it with you.
My focus in this film was on storytelling with emotional and intellectual impact. My experiment was to use UE for more intimate and subtle storytelling instead of action scenes with explosions. I think this is only possible if the character animations are decent and believable. So, most of my time went there. I think this is the next frontier of realism for Unreal after EPIC solved character creation with the MetaHumans. Thank you for watching!

Imo this video is weird
you barely show any gameplay or what you're doing, most of the video footage is some guy talking. I suggest cut some of that for more gameplay. maybe put the person talking like a facecam on the side if u would like to show it a lot still.
the way u refer to people "the artist" "he did X" feels weird, what about "our artist" "we did"
you have a 40 second intro that I skipped immeidetly (after the initial joke). I would completely remove that and maybe instead add an explanation on ur game or/and a summary of this video for people.
u have too many bad jokes in the video. it takes away from the devlog content and when the jokes are bad it just makes me feel like skipping every tiem something that looks boring comes up. and it also doesnt help u make people engaged to ur game. I'd say filter only rly good jokes and make them shorter.
there is a massive random short video at the end which is weird and just seems like it should be uploaded as it's own short video on a different channel or something. it also makes it unclear if the video actually ended or like what. it just seems out of place.

Just finished a pilot project for a customer using UE5. Client's house model. Some custom objects, many from the marketplace, textures from megascans. It's pretty wild demoing UE5 and the possibilities within interactive media for an audience who have no clue what's up. Looking forward to continuing with the engine for archviz and other fields. With the help of UE4, some marketplace assets and Google's Firebase I was able to release my first game into open beta.

My first render in unreal ^ It's part of a larger project, in which I created my digital alterego. The house is a 1:1 reproduction of the apartment I live in (in terms of scale) which makes it kind of VR ready.
I also packed a .exe file to use as a base for VTubing, it works already.
