If it isn't screwed into the PCB... it'll fall out.

There are 2 reasons. 1. Unlike traditional switches, the Lekkers dont have legs that go into the PCB, so there is nothing to keep the plate from just falling out. 2. The plate attached to the PCB prevents the plate from flexing and causing bad inputs

I’ve modified my full 2 HE and the sound and feel are so nice. It’s 100% worth the time you put into it.

I used 2 mods: foam and painters tape

I cut up a bunch of this kind of foam and stuffed it into the empty spaces of the bottom part of the keyboard. I also put painter tape on the back of the PCB and poked holes through the board so that the screws would attach through the tape.

The last thing I did was lube the switches, into me, that improves the typing feel more so than the sound. I still found it to be worth it.

I would personally recommend that you get the extra lubrication. When I first cracked open my keyboard, to modify it. the stabilizers weren’t poorly lubed, but the extra lubrication did help a lot.

It is important to know that there are two distinct lubricants that you should use. There’s one specifically for keyboard switches, and another specifically for stabilizers.

That kit looks like it only has the lubrication for the switches, you’re going to need a different kind of lubricant for the stabilizers.

If you know what you’re looking for, you can find a cost-effective kit on Amazon with no problem. If you’re unsure of what to get, the lads at wooting sell you an entire kit of what you would need to lubricate your switches and stabilizers.

I only bought my lubrication kit from them out of convenience. some people know what they need and go with a more cost-effective alternative based on their preferences

Probably the most time-consuming part is actually lubricating the stem. Cracking open the switch and throwing the different parts into different cops are Tupperware to keep everything organized is fairly quick, it’s the actual lubrication application that takes some time.

It’s worth mentioning that the wooting team put in a lot of effort into making a YouTube tutorial for this exact occasion. I like that they don’t just sell you a lubrication kit, but they also made a video on how to apply what you bought to your keyboard to make it sound and feel amazing

Not sure exactly what you're asking. They've tested the PC plate to ensure it doesn't flex enough to affect the Lekker switches, and if the chart there is correct, should offer the most "thock" sound possible.

but you could probably bridge the trace with a wire and have full led lighting again, I just dont use them, so I didn't bother

Its for a gasket. A lot of designers are doing this "screwless" design where they use cutouts in the pcb to run screws inside the case

I mean you can't really see them under the keycaps, but you also couldn't see them on the bottom of the keyboard so I don't really get the motivation either

Yeah I can probably deal with that with some paint. Just sucks a lot of the higher end designers seemed to have settled on a standard dz60 style design years ago but it's basically impossible to buy one now.

Yeah I initially wanted to put the wooting in a polaris but finding one in the colours I wanted was basically impossible

and polaris v2 looks like it

will only ever work with its own pcb

polaris v2 might work, I have the vega which is the same just 65%, the screws for the case go along the top and bottom

so could work as long as the screws dont match with the traces, the bottom middle section could be a problem

will have a daughter board so you could make the usb work too with some soldering

the problem is that the polaris v2 uses a daugterboard

while the original one just used a fixed usb port on the PCB

if you can find one at all you could cerakote it though

would be 120€ with becoating
