Like with a "click stop thing" as ram and GPU, it seems to be the main flaw of the keyboard.

Crazy to have insane performance 0,1 mm actuation point switch with 8kHZ polling rate BUT any perturbation can disconnect the weak JST cable inside the keyboard.. even on premounted one..

This lowkey remind be desastre with RTX 5090 which burn because of a weak 12VHPWR..
How such basic electronic mistake can go throw validation process..

yeah you can see thru the keycaps forsure. honestly almost as well as ur regular double shot pbt.. I was honestly kinda dissapointed with that. A really high quality set up dyesub pbt keycaps should not shine thru the white legends on a black key. Tho the keys still feel and sound fairly decent. you will absolutely notice the keys change colour to whatever rgb is behind them if the rgb is over 40% brightness and higher.

they arent full solid. turn your brightness up to 100%, you will 100% see the legends are shine thru to a good extent.

Didn’t try the Tikkens. Before the UFOs I had geon RAWs.

To be honest I’m the worst switch tester. Unless something is really wrong with the switch … ( sound wise or too much wobbly ) I adapt very fast ehehe.

I have several ones from ttc kom, to jades pro and gaming, to geon raws and owlabs ti and unionwell ultras and UFOs.

One thing i know I prefer boxed switches ( either squares or circular).

Other than that. I won’t spend much more money on switches 🤣

They are physicall different, so you'll never get a perfect results.

You're one key short in the bottom left, and the symbols won't match up for many keycaps in the upper right area.

I ordered a White zinc case from the outlet. The "cosmetic imperfection" is so slight that I couldn't even see it until I shined a flashlight on it. Even then, its barely noticable. And then I ordered a Red GT-80 for my TenZ. So now I'll have 2 extra cases. 🤣

Not disable - Just eliminate any benefits it brings.

Tachyon mode lets your keyboard scan at a higher rate than usual. To do this it needs the bandwidth that animations would otherwise take up. Start doing animations, and that bandwidth is gone and Tachyon does nothing.

Mine looks perfectly fine. There's a light scratch that isn't even noticable in normal light. In extremely bright light I can see it, but I don't use my keyboard under the sun.

If absolutely needed, I could powder coat it. Don't think I'll have to do it. But I have the equipment to powder coat car wheels. I'm sure I could do a keyboard case.

Literally just need to worry about that little cable that connects the board part to the case. Make sure it's plugged in all the way.

It should be fully seated in the slot. If its any kind of loose it will cause the issue you're experiencing.

I brought my 80HE back to its roots. Bought the white Wooting keycaps and mixed them with my existing black ones. It now has an FR4 plate and upgraded stabilizers. I originally bought the Black Zinc 80HE. TenZ will get a case makeover when my red GT-80 arrives.

I put the knight v4 in my 80HE. I'm running Wooting keycaps on the entirety of the keys again and It sounds uniform across the entirety of all the (respective) stab'd keys for me.

Krytox 205g0 syringe is a god send when needing to add a little more lube to stabs.

You don't have to take it apart if you have a syringe. You can just shove a syringe into the opening and add a little bit more lube. That's how I did it.

stock (prebuilt) 80he has Lekker v2 and tenz comes with (lighter) Lekker Tikken, which is a pretty big upgrade imo. Lekker Tikken is an excellent switch and with the lighter spring is great for gaming

Its a learning curve typing on a HE keyboard. I had to increase actuation distance for my typing profile to not have a lot of accidental keypresses and then use low actuation distance for gaming. Luckily swapping between the 2 last used profiles can't be easier.

There are small differences, I got tenz for the switches and keycaps difference. Also the case looks a little different so it is nice to have something unique ig and the feet are black. (worth noting that the light switches are something to get used to a little bit cause with the stock profile you will might end up accidentally triggering the WASD buttons if your hand rests a little on the keeb. could be adjusted with software though).

I haven't calculated how much I've spent on my "regular" 80HE. I originally bought it as the Black Zinc version with wrist rest since it was discounted. Then bought a set of Geon RAW, and Lekker Tikkens for it. Also bought a White Zinc case, White keycaps and an FR4 plate and Knight V4 stabs for it.

Are you plugging it into a desktop PC, or laptop? If desktop PC make sure you're plugging into a USB header off the motherboard in the back. Don't plug it into a front port. They don't get constant voltage.

Blue is USB 3.1 or 3.2 high data port. Have you tried a black port? Those are USB 2.0 and plenty enough to handle the keyboard.

If your power supply is overloaded, using a higher speed port is going to actually cause more lag, not less.

C to A is fine, as long as its plugged in the motherboard. do you have Tachyon (8KHz polling) turned on in Wootility?

some computers or games don't vibe with 8KHz because it can strain hardware

You're not transferring high amounts of data with a keyboard. You need stable voltage more than faster transfer rates. The higher speed ports only really help if you're plugging in storage devices or things like webcams that require a lot of data transfer. Lower speed ports are more stable. Ideally a USB A port that is black is going to yield the best results. If your CPU or RAM usage is capping out, that can cause lag especially if you're using high polling.

The high polling rate doesn't use a lot of data, but your computer has to process the information faster. If your bottlenecking from high CPU or RAM load, it will cause lag.

the reason it lags on mice specifically for some people or in some games is that mice do send a lot of data on 8khz

cause each poll during a move contains updated data potentially

Its CPU processes. Anything above 4kHz polling for a mouse isn't even really needed. I don't know of any game where 8kHz would be any more beneficial than 4kHz. I usually use 2kHz.

By what it says, I made the assumption that Tachyon mode affects polling rate. Though I guess I shouldn't make assumptions.

The logic in my mind, is 8k polling on, but tachyon off, the polling rate would be set to 1600Hz. And with it on, it would go to 8kHz. With 1kHz polling that's all you get, and tachyon on or off wouldn't make a difference since the keyboard is only polling at 1000Hz. If the PCB is scanning faster, the PC wouldn't see it any faster.

Nah, but you need to have couple thousand to at least be able to have any chance of making use of the high polling rate. Otherwise you just won't have enough data to feed into it with normal mouse movements. You can always increase dpi/cpi, whatever you wish to call it, but lower sensitivity in windows to match your wanted movement.

It won't have much of a benefit going far above that

There's a lot of studies and articles where folks have likely technically tested that to it's limits to find where it's starting to be just redundant, but there are big differences in latency and benefit of like few hundred dpi and few thousand, if you just have polling rate to make use of it.

Your motherboard and chipset/usb drivers in general are up to date? Does your task manager show high cpu usage all the time? Do you have a lot of usb devices plugged in? I would assume keyboard is at the back of the motherboard, considering everything but worth asking. Feel free to test many other ports to make sure it's not by chance tied to some of them and not all. I am just throwing random thoughts here. I had it in older machine and then newer but I definitely had some connection and other issues in previous machine, for unknown reasons, while in this newer one it has been just perfect in anything and with few different third party cables also.

The 60v2 bought its spec’s in line with the 80 HE. The only thing the V2 has the 80 HE doesn’t have is the split spacebar. I couldn’t really see that being a v2 version addition to the 80HE though. More in line like a 1.5 or not even a version change but just a just “80 HE split.”

New coated cases are coming soon. Time will tell that but they've done a good deal of testing. And the problem does not hit everyone. If it would, you have the warranty and they do take care of you if issue occurs. I happened to be among people with issues and I will soon have my new case as I chose to wait for one with new coating.
