either finish the main storyline or warp directly into the galactic core. you can get to the core via black holes, which become very common to see after completing the atlas path mission

Into the galactic core? Does that warp me to the next galaxy in some linear way, or is it optional?

||core warps lead to the next galaxy numerically. e.g., leaving Euclid where we all start leads to Hilbert.||
||The main quest will let you skip to the next (numerically) galaxy in the list for one of the four types of galaxy.||
||Without a multiplayer assist, seeing you're on Switch, those are your options. Be sure to drop and claim a base computer in the new galaxy so you can teleport back to previously visited space stations or your bases and be able to return to the new galaxy.||

We generally advise that you find a spot on one (or more) of the planets and then use the bot sub-thread to check if anyone else has their base within 2000u of that spot (not all bases will show every time you go, so checking and registering a base with the bot will make sure no overlap/conflict happens between yoursa and existing bases (and so noone impinges on your base in the future). If you need a hand with the bot, feel free to ask, it can be tricky to use the first time.

Well just tried to take down the corrupted sentinels on my permadeath save. Got to wave 5 and got my teeth kicked in. Barely escaped with my life!

Severely underpowered compared to my Normal difficulty save, lol

You can go to the system and follow the rules and syntax of registering your location of choice, can build your base too and upload it to ODS, but you cannot meet other hubbers or ask for a taxi service to the system either because of lack of multiplayer on switch.

Unless you have a separate keyboard, you have to use the controls to manually "type" each letter of every word from a virtual keyboard. Symbols and punctuation are a combo to switch to and from letters.

It's a small step up from the way flip phones used to type.

Even if the text channels were open, only a small fraction would have the tech on hand, or be willing to buy it, to use them.
