Yes actually the wires coming off the bytebeat switches are red. I deleted one of the switches and the wires to and from it and redid it but the wire leaving the switch was red again. Not sure why.

Something weird is happening. I visited my base on Distira on another save and the base doesn't show up. My other save can build a base in the same spot. I've played with turning multiplayer on/off in both saves, and reuploaded the base several times. Are there multiple instances of a planet?

It’s been happening a lot lately @pliant beacon And me had the same issue yesterday we couldn’t see each other’s bases . Basically it’s a server overload issue. When there’s too many people in too many bases the server has the prioritize the most recent from what I understand in order to keep things running smoothly so the older bases get hidden

The only way to fix it is re-upload your base and then when the server text it should put it back live

And it frustrates the hell out of me because it literally happens at the most inconvenient times. I spent hours building and then when I need to take a break and chill, I couldn’t get to your hotel and so that kind of ticked me off and ruined my break, I swear it’s literally only whenever I need to actually be at someone’s base it start acting up

Thankfully when I log back on later I was able to load it in so at least the servers are trying to catch up

Yeah it’s an annoyance to say the least

I mean if you follow best base building practices and honestly it’s not that big of a deal.

Best practices rule number one is to save frequently and upload your base every 30 minutes to synchronize with the server 15 minute takes in the hourly major runs. That will keep your base fresh in the servers and also it’s just good practices for making sure you preserve your progress and build time anyways

Best practices number two is to minimize everything else that’s not relevant, don’t terrain edit if you don’t absolutely need to and delete any small outposts or bases that you don’t see yourself using because not only does it eat resources for others but since it’s closest to you more than likely it’s going to impact you first and foremost before it affects the other players

Less is more and all of that

Now if you go off-line for a couple weeks then yes more than likely your base will follow the servers but that’s kind of a feature not a bug. In normal star systems were maybe a handful players will pass through it every year it’s never an issue but in a hub system that needs to support thousands of players, it’s kind of necessary that the servers find and suppress older bases for the sake of freeing up resources and making life easier for people who are actually playing the game now

That being said when this is happening in the span of a literal few hours that’s kind of ridiculous. I mean I know me and others were uploading our bases rather frequently and working on them in real time yesterday and they still went missing. That’s dumb.

That’s a big difference from if a base is a week old and abandoned, then obviously the server needs to find that base and suppress it

If the owner gets back online all they need to do is update it and re-uploaded and Bam they are plugged back into the hub

@main chasm me and @pliant beacon have a going conspiracy theory or two but there’s no question that something wonky is messing with Distria this past week…. especially now that I’m hearing about everyone having all these other similar issues that just makes me more tinfoil hat…

There’s some server breaking terrain editing or someone’s attempting to do something really dumb with the save editor and it’s causing ripple effects through the server for everyone else

There’s a lot of people I know that are trying to build floating starships in bases off of the planet and that has been known to cause tremendous server issues before so I guarantee you that’s also another contributing factor

Not that I’m trying to blame anyone I know they’re just having fun and they’re innocent in that but it’s just how the server has a hard time drawing Voxels and inventorying objects that are far off the ground and therefore outside of certain render distances

if I remember correctly as well a major issue with that is simply because the game engine has an invisible teleportation wall when you enter and exit the planet that puts you in the space, and when you start building that close to that barrier it really gets weirded out on the server side of things and causes additional issues

Yes and yes, summoning them is not the issue It’s dismissing them that is. I just flew to a random spot on the planet and summon them all to one place so they are out of the way

Common sense. Don’t go out of your way to be intrusive on your neighbors, be considerate and cooperate if you plan on building close. These planets on average are roughly 200 real life kilometers Which equates to a near infinite amount of real estate so there’s plenty to share 🙂

Most of us actually encourage neighbors so don’t feel shy building close to someone just touch base with them (pun intended) And everything should be fine

I believe the service bot is still off-line due to the recent update so going through other players I think it’s the only way to get supplies at the moment

Once they fix that you’ll be able to go to the Nexus and use the Discord service bot to get whatever you need

My home planet used to look really pretty with nice blue water and perfect weather. Over the years it has now changed to red water and very regular rain storms, while still pretty though. Not anywhere near the Hub though

I do believe so, from what I remember the planets will be marked as constantly raining. The trick then is making sure that the storms aren’t toxic or super heated which they are a lot of the times but there are also paradise like planets that have constant storms but they are not hazardous and do not negatively affect you

You could also check the NMS Creative & Sharing Discord. I know a tool for brute forcing was released when it comes to finding perfect systems.

I suppose so but since one of the prerequisites is that it’s in a hub system I kind of have to do it that way and can’t leave it up to random chance.

So in essence it’s kind of kinda compartmentalized as a creative community project. I like to build different types of bases in our posts what I’m doing exploring on my own

So, some time ago I've found this drowned freighter that spawned in a lake on Distira. I dubbed it HMS Endurance per the latest update. I wanted to make a nice base around it, but I never really got to do anything past putting a landing pad and some underwater chambers. So I decided to pass it to whoever's interested. I've removed my base computer there so you're free to claim this place as your own. The planetary coords are around -21.10 / -139.80. Hope you can make a better use with it than I did.

The original way to get a base was to find a circular prefab building- like the ones we can build. Inside there was a computer to claim the base. When Next came out and base building changed, they allowed for legacy players (players with a save from before Next) to initiate a quest to import their base to one of these new "wild" base computers.

the station override item never did anything. we got it as a perk for one of the milestones from an expedition and people who tried to use it found out that it simply disappeared after use without actually doing anything at all. to this day we are still waiting for an update that will make it do something. you didn't miss out 🙂

The reason I don't think it will happen is that it requires more money and work on their part to implement, plus added server maintenance. Not that they are adverse to work obviously, but it doesn't seem to have large benefits for this sort of game

This will be the first organized PVE event in NMScord Hub history.

It's name? OPERATION SPLASHPOINT

Soldiers will leave the firebase and progress to a classified island home to a Sentinel Listening post. All travel will be done via Nautilon. Once we are there, we expect limited resistance. Our goal is to hack and destroy the facility before retreating down the beach. Our Spaceforce Platoon will protect participants and provide CAS from above.

This was about 12hrs ago. Mostly I was looking at the base counts started for each planet on the discoveries page. I also several com balls and base markers. Not a ton but more than 3. It's possible your having issues with connectivity it's also possible I was seeing ghost bases. I can double check later this evening

Just out of interest, when I'm at a terminal in the hub system in permadeath, I can see 17 bases listed that I can teleport to. But only see seven when I'm out in space or a planets surface. Would that maybe be a connection issue on my end or something else I can fix? I don't mind since I can teleport to all of them, just wanted to be sure!

you're not shown more than a few bases per planet from space, and bases that are very close on the surface are especially likely to be invisible until you're very close.

So I decided to Invest in some screen recording software because you nerds keep blowing my mind with bases and shit so I’m gonna be doing some test recordings if anyone wants to be part of my pilot project DM me, I’ll give you the clips afterwards so you can show them off to your friends

@pliant beacon mini freighter design will be one of the first to test out the software, I am still trying to figure out how to make it seamless though when it comes to teleporters in multiple levels because obviously you can’t interact with those while in picture mode

Will probably have to just cut and splice clips together or something

If anyone has any tips or tricks and is used to recording bases let me know
