You can grab pure ferrite directly from rocks in the planets once you have the advanced mining module (you get one for free in one of the expedition missions).

Quickly build a refiner. You get one later as a reward. Yes to elixir. Going to a space station refills sanity level too. Build a stack of 10 elixir is quite quick

You should be seeing an asteroid here and there you can blow up. I've had bad luck with fields before, but you find them eventually.

I had no problems the two times I did the expedition and I haven't paid close attention, but I've seen a lot of talk in this channel, so you may just want to search.

Some things I've seen are turn off multiplayer, select the milestone in your log, fly away from the planet, pop another silver potion, make the correct blood potion... I think I saw some other things but I don't want to mislead.

I might try deleting the blood potions and popping the silver potion on a whole other planet, then make the blood potion it highlights for you. That's how I did it both times I ran the expedition (because I get paranoid about doing the wrong thing). If you still have issues, this is the thing I saw earlier:

I’m trying to get this game working great in VR. I have a rtx 4090 GPU and a 9700x3D with all the other bells and whistles. I’ve been Pakistan at 4k resolution at around 200fps before VR.

• I have virtual desktop.
• I’m using a meta quest 3.

My question is if you have the same system - what settings did you use?

I’d love to get the this working great with great frame rate for and smooth gameplay.

Claimed the Herald on main save and it came with all the tech already. Is this how it always was? So I can now put the tech I transferred into another ship to upgrade? But, you don't need any portal glyphs for the expedition. Use elixir of blood to open each portal. Have the mission selected, it will show you which elixr to make for each portal. You only need to make one of each type.

Starting a new save makes it completely separate. In order to have items transfer back to your primary save you had to start it from your Primary save via the Terminal behind the Nexus in the Space Anomaly.

The current Expedition 'The Cursed' doesn't have Hyperdrives as an available blueprint. It says it was forgotten or something. However, if you transfer in a ship from your primary save or claim one from the Quicksilver vendor that already has one you can warp. You don't really need to for this expedition though.

Go to the jade planet, load up with spicy chum, fish. Done in about 20 casts.

@gloomy trail if you are spamming maps, if you get something you don't want, just don't do it. It will stop that type from spawning. Just keep clicking maps until you get what you want, then every map after that one should always spawn what you want in that system

Yes. After you access the anomaly for the first time in the expedition, you can retrieve the stuff from the expedition terminal.

You start like a new character, but after the first portal you go through you can go into space and summon the Anomaly.

Then you will have access to get your stuff.

Mostly... Some people are still running into issues. They have a guide in the Pins if you run into trouble (like it won't take the blood and acts like a normal portal).

If you started the Expedition from your primary save via the terminal in the Anomaly, you can double dip the weekend Nexus mission. Go to the Anomaly and create a restore point. Then use the Options Menu to 'Return to primary save'. Do the weekend Nexus mission and once you complete it, create another restore point and then use the terminal to 'Resume Expedition'. Then you can do the weekend Nexus mission again for another 1800 Quicksilver. At the end when you finish the Expedition that will transfer back to your primary save with all of the other currencies you earned.

No, companion eggs won't go in the Terminal to transfer them back. You should be able to claim it on your primary save from the Quicksilver vendor though. If you started a completely new save to do the Expedition you would get to keep it because those saves just turn into a Normal save when you complete the Expedition.

well, it's a lot more difficult to detect, but with practice, you can actually see the two sphere shapes one inside of the other, and would have to be in the exact coordinates aiming at a certain angle for the two yaw lines to be perfectly overlapping each other, which 99% of the cases, you're not.

The phase 5 milestones seem pretty straightforward. Regardless, if you're doing an expedition towards the end of its run, you can generally just search for the milestone name and chances are people have asked about it 20-30 times already. For example a search like this: in:#nms-expedition "Arachnophobia"

Even after a couple days pretty much every question has been asked, so it's usually what I do when I'm just taking my time.

Welcome to No Man's Sky. I'm sure they will get to it someday, or at least in some dimension.

Basically if you start the expedition from the home screen or whatever you'll get to keep everything. If you start it from an existing save you'll be able to send back most things. Eggs are weird and from a technical perspective I understand why it would take extra time to implement sending them back to main saves. It comes up a LOT and I feel like they should prioritize it, though.

Apart from that, like I said any eggs that are unlocked in the quicksilver vendor can be claimed on your main save.

Once you claim the ship in the expedition and it is your main ship there, you can switch back to your main save and purchase it at the expedition terminal. Also, any QuickSilver vendor unlocks are unlockable on all your saves, including your main save, so you can get it from the qs vendor in your main save as well.

Land, and start looking for the nearest Storm Crystal spawn. They will be scattered across the landscape.

load in and check how things are. if needed, select a diff milestone/mission, unpause, wait 10s. reselect relevant breach milestone, unpause, wait 10s - mission icon should pop on the portal, hint should appear lower right confirming what you need to do next

Yes. When I try exploring underwater caves in purple systems, after a minute or two some mysterious force pushes me right through the roof of the cave back to the solid surface above.

I haven't gone back and tried exploring caves in other places yet as a test.

Well, first things first, try re-verifying your game files

The funny part is I've had this PC tower for less than a month. I am not going to replace it to keep playing NMS.

After you do that, test non-purple caves first, the test some purple ones on different planets & systems

The PC shouldn’t be the problem, it is more likely that Steam updated some but not all of your game files or otherwise messed them up, so you should verify them before you do anything else

I'll give that a shot. But this may be one of those things I'm just not allowed to do in game, like using refiners on my freighter, which invariably causes the game to crash.

I verified files on the previous computer, and the bug persisted afterward. I haven't been willing to try using the refiner since then, because if I try to turn dihydrogen into jelly with a freighter refiner and it crashes, all the materials are gone and I have to go out hunting more dihydrogen again.

Not that it's that hard to find, it's just that I hate repeating steps like that.

Try it with only a little bit of material, that way if it breaks you will not have lost much

Or I could just avoid doing any refining that can't be done with the exosuit, which is what I think the game intends.

I just tried using the ones on the freighter, because I could run multiple processes at the same time.

I used to have 25 refiners on my freighter and used all of them at once. Used to dihydrogen refined really fast. I didn't like it when they changed it to where it refines so slow now.

Yeah, it sounds unfortunate, I've never had any problems with crashing when using refiners on the freighter.

Certain items produced with materials like Nitrogen and Radon take a lot less material if you use the refiner instead of the craft interface, but that requires a three slot refiner where the exosuit only gives two.

If you dump this in your nms cache folder (something like %APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS\{steam id}\cache depending on where it's installed) and go offline(?) you'll be able to play the expedition without needing HG's servers to be accessible. The only change I've made is to the expedition end date to allow it to be played basically forever. When you want to get the new expedition or just get rid of this file, all you have to do is go back online in steam.

Thanks for that! My troubleshooting also took me down the path of that json file and was backing it up/trying to get the game to regenerate it. I might give it a shot if their servers aren't accessible for too much longer

This method is usually done offline, but now that I think about it, doing it while online in Steam should be fine. What will happen is as soon as the servers come up it will see that you are on the currently active expedition and basically nothing noticeable will happen for you.
