Gene Splicer slot doesn't affect size, it affects model and texture variation, rerandomizing it

The smallest possible derelict freighter is 4 rooms right? No 3 room derelicts? I don't remember ever seeing the crew manifest terminal in the first room
Guys I did reset the simulation.. went to a new galaxy and fixed everything. Now that I'm back in my old galaxy I'm unable to see any space stations I have unlocked ever since in the teleport menu except the solar system where I spawned when I began playing for the first time and the new galaxy's space station where I spawned.

though it solely tracks which final rewards you have unlocked, which in some cases leads to more expeditions showing as completed than you've actually done

At best, there are now Corvette-class starships, which you can have other players ride in with you, but the game is still at it's core a singleplayer game with multiplayer features. We can't truly share bases and there isn't a lot to do with other players aside from exploring, existing and doing Nexus missions together
That's up to you. You can get more of the advanced selection of modules by mining Salvage Containers on Salvageable Scrap worlds
in the trade menu, offering functional modules is much more likely to make the trade succeed

Not badmouthing the game, i love this game and everything it has.
So do any of the other corvette parts matter or just sheikd and weapons
Basically everything in the first page is truly functional and offers stats for the first 3 placed of each type
So first 3 of each weapon type, first 3 shields, first 3 of each reactor type etc
The reactors offer substantial stat bonuses for multiple different important things
So in pirate systems, solar sailers are more frequent.

If one single one, check the mission NPC in each space station to see if they offer as reward, do that
If long term supply, you can unlock its recipe on the anomaly, but you would need a steady supply of radon, sulfurine and nitrogen
I think the guilds at the space station may give you one, or at least the components to used to craft it

There's a:
- 80% chance that Resonator will be an Inverted Mirror Resonator;
- 20% chance that Resonator will be an Echo Locator Resonator.
Approach and aim at the Resonator to see what it will drop when destroyed.

it happens to us all - the opposite may also happen sometimes - looking for an inverted mirror, and i find 3 or 4 echo locator resonators in a row. again, note, the drop is already set, you can know what it's going to be bfeore destroying it

My ship engine is a bit too loud. I mostly use the starborn phoenix and that is extremely loud compared to my other ships for eg the radiant pillar, I don't remember what upgrade or cosmetic change made it this way

sounds like a bug, kinda like the extra loud sound i'm getting, after i exit pulse while already boosting, an extra loud sound/reverb

happens sometimes too, but doesn't mean that a planet only has echo locator resonators, or only inv mirror ones; always going to be a mix of both

Here are some workarounds for the infinite loading bug on Xbox:
- Launch NMS, When the red ring appears, launch a different game entirely. Two games will appear in your quick resume (NMS and the other game). Go back to NMS and it should get you to the main menu. Close the other game on the quick resume menu.
- If it was already on quick resume when you get stuck, close and relaunch NMS.
- Restart console.
- Clear the cache and relaunch NMS.

- Isn't a damage ceiling, or how much damage any of the installed weapons will do either;
- Is a value calculated by the game using multiple variables, including the damage innate bonus of the MT/ship and the current Tech inventory:
- On multi-tool, only the strongest weapon system installed is included;

Summary: To more fairly compare two different MT/Ships, strip them both down to bare techs, ensuring nothing is supercharged.

My two main combat tools are from harmonic camps, and my third tool that is retired is also from harmonic camp, though regrettably I never kept the coordinates of it, it was a 3+1 with the 1 one square off making a 2x2

Purely for the fact that you can get them early, and has the fewest downsides, since sentinel tools comes with it's own version mining laser, so you can install another mining laser on top for improved mining speed, which offsets it's weaker mining speed, though some treat the latter as a glitch

yeah, wild fire patches are just going to be happening beyond your control, a base doesn't prevent them from spawning at that location

DF missions will primarily be spawned by buying coordinates from scrap dealer npc at space stations, using it, pulsing until its notification pops, and completing the mission

there's 1 interior layout per system, down to the number of rooms, main/optional paths and number of lootable objects, or enemies if any - the class of the freighter upgrade module that drops from eng room terminal is fixed per system too

i was going to show you some screenshots before, but i diverted attention elsewhere sorry. trying to keep it simpler, a few things for now:
- supercharged slots on the edges of the grid are not so desirable, because it limits your options a little in terms of playing with adjacency bonuses (the colored lines)
- finding supercharged slots in adjacent slots with certain shapes is basically a matter of patience, finding lots of cabinets in the same system when you find a pool that has a tool you like the looks of, and a higher class cabinet

no you'll get the compare option as always, unlike ships you can also exchange cargo om that screen from your current freighter to the new one, freighter mods on the other hand have to be removed manually if you wish to keep em, like with other ships

When you opened the sentinel, did you pick up a red cube thing?
It's literally called Hyaline Brain

Make sure your terraine manipulator is set to the smallest size, find a new deposit and mine
Check it again, if you got the quest prompt, you would have to have looted 3 items from the interceptor first, one of them is Hyaline brain
in your inventory, something should be pulsing in it

Set your terraine manip "ball" to the smallest setting
the larger it is, the less you will get out of any deposit
If you want to try something else, you can unlock Autonomous mining unit on the anomaly, then build them on top of a copper deposit, fuel them and wait
they will slowly mine the copper out of the ground for you, the downside is that you have to baby sit them for a while

If you really don't have that brain in your inventory or space ship, then yeah, you would have to kill space interceptors to get their brains to drop, which according to wiki, is 15%, though this should really need only to be done once, every crashed interceptor comes with a Hyaline brain in it.

It's not that late actually. Mineral extractor is a late game structure, the autonomous unit isn't that late, mainly because of its severe drawback of needing to baby sit
you might have sold or refined it for nanites by accident, probably
but yeah, for future reference, every crashed interceptor comes with a hyaline brain

Known issue, if you have any faecium in your storage, you can get them out and that should count, if that fails, you can refine mordite into faecium and that should count

FYI, if you have advanced refiner (refiners that can take 2 ingredients or more), you can reduce the amount of copper needed to make metal by using this recipe:
rather than needing to burn 2 copper per metal

it's the left unlock directly under the portable refiner
but if you have a corvette, you should be able to also make refiners on it, those take 3 ingredients and will work for this purpose

They have a very low chance to be better than S-class upgrades, so I would suggest leaving them until endgame when you have lots of spare nanites.
You need quite a lot of X-class ones to get a decent roll
unless the goal is to get nanites themselves, then it's absolutely worth it
There are also ways to lessen the cost of rolling for X class by using C-class rolls to burn through the seeds, though that's probably classified as save scumming with extra steps
If one is starting a second/third save, is there a strong reason not to tick the “skip tutorial mission” option?

Beginner Tips

Settings
If this is your first time playing No Man's Sky:
• There are multiple game modes available, with different difficulty presets. Creative, Relaxed, Normal and Survival game mode saves can all play with each other, while Permadeath and Expedition game modes are separate.
• Go to Options > Network, and disable ability of other players to damage you, edit your bases, or edit your base terrain (discourages griefers). See multiplayer visual guide ».
• Excluding content designed with multiplayer in mind, progress isn't shared between players. It is in fact recommended to play the main (tutorial) missions with multiplayer disabled to prevent issues, at least until you unlock access to the Space Anomaly.
• If you are on PC and want to use the Plasma or Geo Cannon weapons, you might want to re-map secondary fire bind to be anything but RMB, since RMB is also hard-coded to "exit menu."

General Tips
• Save often: update your Restore Point by exiting the starship, claiming a Base Computer, interacting with a Save Point/Save Beacon, or the waypoint machines you find at some Points of Interest (POIs).
• Sentinels are like police in NMS: they don't like it when you destroy, mine or harvest rocks or plants from a planet. When they're watching, stop or move away from them to resume harvesting resources. Avoid entering your ship with an active Sentinel Alert Level: sentinel ships are more difficult to evade than planet sentinels. For tips on how to evade sentinels, take a look at this post.
• The Space Anomaly NPCs and terminals are the single biggest source to learn technology or base part blueprints.
• To easily return to a system or planet you like, place and claim a base computer and name it something you will remember.
• Storage upgrades can be applied to exosuit, ships, multi-tools and freighter. To apply a storage upgrade to a different inventory, switch inventory by pressing Q or E (dpad left or right), then apply the storage upgrade. Storage upgrades can be purchased with units, but also obtained from other sources like scrapping ships or mission board rewards.
• Discovering and registering the complete list of fauna on a planet (at once) will reward nanites - 250 per fauna.

Missions
It's strongly recommended to play the entire main storyline, Artemis Path, and the Atlas Path. Playing all the "important" quests (Artemis path, The Atlas Path, The Space Anomaly, the Base Computer Quest, and Expanding the Base quests) will:
• Introduce you to many of the game's mechanics.
• Teach you unique tech and abilities you can't get anywhere else.
• Give you a lot of free tech you'd have to buy at the Space Anomaly otherwise.
The active mission will switch between available missions in the Logs. It can be well timed or random. You need to reselect the desired mission in the Log menu to continue.

For the translator, you only need to raise your Gek standing by 2 (or to +2 if it's negative), either do missions that benefit the Gek from a mission board, or find a trade post and buy 2 gift items from the pilots, then turn around and gift them to any of the NPCs on the platform

hm i gained gek standing a few times aready with space battles and what not and i ddint realize the mission updated. but i also didnt actively track it in a while, i was building living glass wich was not prifitable and then upgraded my sentinal ship farm into scanning, getting that cake was a pain! but now i sit at 4b without really doing mainstory xD

It's random in what is offered, but once you see what is there, know that those are the only upgrades that will ever be sold there (until another refresh changes the list)

Not everything has a rank, and some of those techs are mutually exclusive. You can't get both the Star Seed and Mark of the Denier at the same time

Take off all non-essential techs off your exosuit, ship and multitool to minimise repairs needed
If it's for The Purge, know that it will not advance the mission. Otherwise ||uninstall everything you can or swap ships and multi tools to minimize damage||

You have 3 without, image has 3...where's the issue? Also, you don't need all of the tech in that image. Frost Protection (or any hazard protection) will not do you any good if you spend all your time on paradise planets
You can have up to 3 of the hazard protection units
(the ones in the middle with the C rankl symbol don't count)

Once you start In Stellar Multitudes, DO NOT warp far from the initial system. You will need to return to it to get to your revealed Purple system. If you have to leave, leave via the Space Station Teleporter in the system with the Atlas Station!

That will give you all of the steps needed

That's not what I meant, the same head will have the same stats, regardless of how many times you use that terminal.
When you use that terminal, once you have chosen the parts, you can then press the button to have a look at the final result of the staff before committing to make it, if you back out of that screen, the parts won't be consumed, and you can try with a different staff head, but things gets wonky when you do this confirmation twice without backing out of the terminal, after two tries, the stats of the product changes, and this change even depends on where you are standing, backing out of the terminal resets this behaviour

Just bear in mind, Sentinel and Autophage range upgrades have stat ranges that makes X-class upgrades blush, so you may need to roll a lot of them to get decent ones, or use the seed burning technical (aka save scumming with extra steps)

You will only ever see Dissonant or Gas Giant on purple systems. You have to scan the planets themselves to find water worlds

And even if they did, it wouldn't indicate a Waterworld being there, it'd just indicate that any world in that system has water/oceans
But Dissonant takes display priority, in which all purple systems have at least one dissonant world
You will need to warp to purple systems and scan the planets to know if a Waterworld is in them

You can simplify it if you have the freighter scanner, but yes you have to warp to each system and scan each planet. Avoid giant systems

did you mean geobays? check construction research station in the anomaly. iirc, only pilgrim geobay cant be unlocked for free. roamer can come from either ghosts in the machine or exocraft research base crew quest later on, nomad and colossus from exocraft research as well, nautilon from dreams of the deep, and minotaur from a trace of metal.

@frail turret to be clear, this is the o2 harvester you were referring to. these iirc arent bound by a planetary limit - they're limited by area, iow, you could place like say 3 (i want to say it's more than 3, but i forget, i havent used these in ages) here, walk 50u in any direction, then place another 3, and so on. @halcyon jacinth

@frail turret @halcyon jacinth gas extractor requires a hotspot, and a base - but they can hold 250 material, dont need to be fueled (just powered, which is taken care of by power hotspots or solar+bats for example), and can be connected to supply depots, each can hold 1k.

the salvaged data and nanite research cost to go straight into mineral and gas extractor setups isn't high imo
ghosts in the machine is the 3rd mission of the main story; ghosts in the machine will also trigger expanding the base, which is the parent base crew quest (which will trigger the other base crew member secondary quests, including the exocraft research one). dreams of the deep and a trace of metal are secondary quests yeah.

I see, I think its the first time I've had meteors almost hit me and I was very surprised and awestruck loll. I just thought they were backround ambience we see in the distance
not sure, perhaps it's just observation bias, but the rate at which we see the background ones spawn+crash down on a planet might mean that that planet is more likely to have meteor shower extreme weather events.

I experienced this on a radioactive planet. I would honestly expect them to be on airless worlds, so it makes them not quite perfectly safe

you're most likely thinking of purple star system terrain generation limits - though there are some planets in non purple stars that have really high cliffs too, just not super deep oceans at the same time

yeah, i'd say that after you unlock purple star systems (complete in stellar multitudes quest), it shouldnt take long to find some mega exotic with super tall mountains and just oceans as far as the eye can see

Hello everyone! Noob here. I found a damaged ship and was wondering if I should scrap it or keep it and attempt to repair it. I'm 15 hours in and I got a free frigate when I dropped out of hyperspace into a battle
- all a ship needs to be able to fly is working launch thruster and pulse engine, so that alone would be enough to fly them to a station to scrap
- i'd say that it's only worth it to make a crashed ship into a repair project if you really like how it looks, lucked out on the starting class or supercharged slot layout
