i have just started playing nms after a very long hiatus on ps5, and i am loving the new corvette feature and want to build some ships.
i have been looking at some youtube guides for initial builds i want to try, but I found out i needed exclusive expedition parts that are no longer available outside of trade.
i have read that as long as i can get 1 of each part, i can then farm them using refiners, so i was hoping someone may be willing to trade me -

I was on a dreadnaught trying to speak to the captain to claim it, it wouldn’t let me speak to him. Then after like 20 attempts it just blew up whilst I was in it. ??? Why can’t I speak to the captains.

It’s glitchy as heck, I keep respawning one from an anomaly and something goes wrong each time.

There aren't any refiners referred to as "Mk 3". Are you referring to the Freighter Refining Room, which acts as a large refiner?

You can use either those or portable refiners aboard your freighter

The freighter refiners are just as good as large refiners, and are cheaper to make and have no limits to being placed next to each other

You can't build the freighter refining room outside of a freighter
you can however build a Large Refiner at any planetary base, which operates identically
or build the corvette refining thing along the hab of a corvette, which also works identically

Since the player didn't document the latitude/longitude of the camp, you may just have to follow communications stations/bases until you find the right one

S-Class is the highest class. This option will display an error if you attempt to select it with an S-Class starship equipped, displaying "Max class reached"

my friend completed the purge and picked the dark blue dimenson Budullangr, while i picked the cyan (hilbert) one (so we'd have access to both dimensions, we met in the anamoly, but i guess he now ended up in Hilbert with me and cant get back to his dimension... any hope?

with the expeditions why are there rewards at the quicksilver station for ones all the way back to like- 10 or something but obv the only one i can play is 21. This is the first expedition i've gone on so idk fully how they usually work but are the rewards literally just there unable to be atained?
If you didn't do those expeditions in the past, yes. Them being always visible is probably a menu system limitation, or something to make you want to do future expeditions idk

Unbound. Must select it in the Quick Menu
Quick Menu options can only be bound to things on PC, where they can be "quick bound" to numbers 0-9

Freighter can warp very far but consumes 25% fuel per warp while my ship can't go as far but consumes around 7% per warp

The tech items are random from a pool at the end, so you might want a few emergency scanners

You can get an egg from another player who has completed the expedition, or (in on PC) modify your account data to say you completed the expedition (so that you can obtain it in the anomaly from the Quicksilver vendor).

I mean, I have an old settlement that's completely kitted out. More, I just keep getting offered a choice between Dumb Thing and Starship Port, and the wiki says I have like 15 build opportunities per settlement and I have three ports.

yeah the timing needs to be fast, like try to hit melee + jump almost instantaneously, one after another

alternatively you can buy the rocket boots and it will have a similiar effect after just pressing double jump, but this tech is known to be a bit "glitchy"

haha ok, i see 🙂 well, don't worry, and like i've said - if you find this tech a bit too wonky, try uninstalling it and going with my previous method. It's what the most of the community is using
the only downside of NOT having the rocket boots is that you won't be able to rocket jump around the space stations and such
So you'll need to make a choice, there's no perfect solution, unfortunately
its the quick forward movement im after thou7gh and couldnt get that to do it the way you were saying. was just going up and momentum was carring me forward
is use it alot going up steep hilss but was expecting it to jump on first tap. thus not hitting it everyu tiime
takes a bit of pratice sometimes, but the "melee jump" is pretty trivial after you get used to it
you can try to find some youtube guides for it, so you might understand better how it works exactly
but if you're going to feel comfortable with rocket boots, it's unnecessary, ofcourse
like i've said, just a matter of preference
ill try it some more but now that i know that its double tap i should be off to the moon. and at least here in station its going off perfectly every time now that i know what to do. thanks for the help
Yeah, you'll only notice that sometimes, the rocket boots are going to go off when you don't really need them to do so... Like if you still hold the jump button during the landing. Might be annoying sometimes, but you'll have to see
i think that's the main reason why most people decide to uninstall them afterall

Portal glyphs. Somewhere, I read that inputting the first glyph into the portal all 12 times then teleporting there would take you to a planet in a galaxy usually very close to the center. Is there a general rule for that? Like if I wanted to be like a few hundred thousand LYs from the center in the left of a galaxy, do we know so general rules of how the glyph code should start?

i'm not sure about the exact placement, if that's what you're asking for, but yeah - first glyph entered 12 times should alwasy get you very close to the center - that much is correct
You mean free cam? Yeah it doesn't work for corvette editing as far as i know. Probably not intended so i expect it to be added in the future
I guess I could experiment with putting in all 12 of each of the other symbols. Mostly I want to use the little taxi service to go to a galaxy of my choice then get completely lost when there.
if you just want to jump a couple of galaxies, then the first glyph should do the job with no problems, at all. You'll need to make like one or two additional system jumps after that and you'll be at the center of your current galaxy.
Just remember that each galaxy jump will make your exosuit, ship and multitool tech damaged. My suggestion is to uninstall all the main tech before the jump, and storing it in your backpack, or switching to a ship/multi tool you don't really need or use that much.
all your inactive gear/ships will remain untouched
so just switch to some junky ones and temporarly remove your exosuit tech, and you should be fine
And just in case: The damage i'm talking about isn't permanent. It will just take some time to repair it all, so it's better to prepare beforhand and avoid the hustle

actually mining beam should work all the way, but yeah, there's bits to the side that need to get destroyed first
also remember to not have a full exosuit inventory when you try deleting the last bit, the core one
i much prefer the external view when flying a spaceship as it provides for much wider view of surroundings. however i find the view from cockpit much easier fly and responsive. i feel like im all over the place with the external view. might there be a sweetspot or particular setup of control settings that might make flying externally feel better?
the TPP view shouldn't change the flying model of your ship to be honest, but the cockpit view gives you additional radar, witch makes locating different planets easier, so i'd prefer it anyway
maybe try options/controls/ship flight control style?

by the way, have you noticed a camera glitch when landing your corvette while your character is in a TPP view?
the camera gets all jittery, until you exit the cockpit. Is this a know issue?
i'll have to test that scenario specifically and let you know, i'm pretty much FPP all the time except exocrafts
to reproduce: Set both your flight and character camera to TPP.
and make sure to use a fairly big corvette, as this might be a factor aswell

yeah i've noticed that aswell. Enter and exit your cockpit seat again

yeah, it usually works for me, just enter and exit without flying off
and when you're landed. Not sure if necessary to be on the ground, but i'm saying it just in case

does the game forget who discovered a planet or system after some time? I tried building a base near the portal on the planet I settled on, but I get a warning about a previous base registration, yet the planet is listed as me discovering it

I have planets where I have 2-3 bases for runaway mould, all uploaded
well, in short, one can make a base and upload it, and not discover the planet. possible that someone visited after you discovered it. also possible that because of a game update its discovery might have been wiped. if you uploaded the discovery, and after a game restart you're still credited, then i wouldnt worry too much about it
and besides, this gives me a warning about registering the just-placed base computer so that I can even build a base there, I haven't gotten to the part about uploading it

hmm, i got one more idea. If you try to place a base at any specific area, place a save beacon there, temporarly, so you have a marker to come back to, and try to get off the planet and re-enter it again

probably all of them, because form a lore perspective they should all be operated entirely by an AI. There never should be any additional pilots inside, so that explains the interior

I didn't think of disconnecting from the internet, but it doesn't matter now, I'll just ignore that portal

i do like this one. have a corvette too but i feel like acceleration and top speed and handling are faster in fighter ships and sentinel ships and the sentinels ships will hover like the corvette and thus are much easier to land. plus this particular ship looks like a railgun which is pretty cool so ill probly just get electrocuted while flying. none of you yell at me. i know electrocuted is only called that if you die

On PC, I understand there are mods, is there one that would show hidden stats for the ships, like landing thruster efficiency? I just assume the way I've combined the upgrade mods is not the best way, but the only way I can check is by landing and taking off repeatedly and see what percentages are, but I assume the boost is not optimal either, and I have no way to check that.
Perhaps I should just ask "where can I find mods", so I can check myself.

Yeah, a bunch of sentinels showed up as soon as I took over the settlement and I took them out, then it immediately moved to the signal

So now everytime I go to the settlement I get attacked by a group of sentinels(including a walker). WHen I clear it it tells me to go to the administrative terminal, but that hasn't been built yet? And I don't have an option to build it or change which settlement the building uses.

It's not an isolated file, it's data within your save file. You can use a save editor's raw json editing function to find your PersistentPlayerBase entries, which includes your corvette designs

I suspect the settlement is bugged though. I had it happen to me a few days ago when I was trying to add a new settlement. Luckily, I was able to retire, leave the planet, return, and find a different settlement on the same world
The mission is blocking the settlement. Not likely something that will be solved by changing foot combat. Might be able to be solved with a save editor if that is an option

Sometimes, removing on foot combat will remove sentinel attacks and bypass them altogether
It's not the attack that's the issue, it's getting the signal after the attack that is. The mission wants the Admin building, and is somehow blocking the Admin building from being constructed

LIke I say, I took one over a few days where it wouldn't let me, and because it was just a normal settlement, I was able to retire immediately, leave the world and then fly back in on the other side of the world and find a new one

There aren't any buildable landing pads that support corvette-class starships. Regardless, this is unrelated to our inability to summon more than one corvette-class starships at a time.
We can only summon our current primary starship to landing pads, which requires summoning them in the first place

No, they all have hidden stats, but these are usually much worse than their upgrades, except for all weapons other than the neutron cannon

the notable ones are the Pulse Engine which has some pulse drive power, the Crimson Core which grants +600LY Hyperdrive Range, and the Luminence Engine which gives a tiny bit more pulse drive power
The latter two are core technology of sentinel ships
they should give corvettes an extra row for tech slots 🫠 my ship is like mid sized and I barely have anything left

iirc for most weapons at least only 1 of them visually fires at the same time (but with high fire rate it might seem that all shoot at the same time), and only up to 3 will have stats. phase beam on corvettes is a bit broken because if you add more than 3 they all contribute to damage, which isnt intended probably
It's supposed to be that up to 6 weapons will fire at the same time, which the phase beam technically follows correctly but each beam counts as more damage

So warping didn't work, difficulty and the on-combat stuff didn't work. Restarting the game didn't work. Making a completely new settlement didn't work(THough orguburdurville the Vykeen colony now has a lovely fishing pond <3), going through teleporters and warping around a bunch didn't. I ran around the settlement looking for the building or the option to build it, nothing.
Weirdly enough, what fixed it was going to the Anomaly? Because I went back down to the settlement and ran around and the overseers office was just there 🤔

You get either the Star Seed or Mark of the Denier. They both do the exact same thing
actually, I want to answer that in a slightly different way than what Grouch said; when you start with your fresh corvette, you might notice that you have very few available slots for additional tech module upgrades, like those S-tier and X-tier upgrades you want to slap on there. What you can do is to slap on 3 of every weapon, if you can find free spots on your ship, 3 of every reactor, 3 landing gear, 3 shield modules, then finalizing the edits. This will add the requisite number of tech slots to contain all those parts. You can then edit your corvette and remove everything you don't need, and the tech slots will stay, but they will now be empty.
In the end it won't matter, since you can get to 60 upgrade slots either way, but in the beginning, before you get enough modules to unlock the tech slots + the inventory slots you want, this can be a quick upgrade to make
and when I say "if you can find free spots", be creative, since you're going to take them off immediately anway, just litter your ship with extra weapons and reactors and stuff, everywhere you can find, up to the limit of 3 of each (you can add more than 3, but you will only see the first 3 in the tech slots)
expanding vette slots is super expensive and grindy tho, gotta find alot of augmentations thingys or just pay for it.
same thing for starships.
in fact, I would say that if you can't find enough free spots, consider temporarily removing cosmetic stuff to make spots free, and then just add them later

this is something you do late game, dont worry about it until you max everything else out, (exosuit, multitool, etc).
you can get a maxed starship easier and use that until you can max your vette also.
I didn't understand the part about a region in space hosting the same guild, so I was cursing why there were so many merchants guild envoys, while I needed mercenary envoys, so I got a lot of free upgrades from merchants before it registered that only the few systems outside the region I had been visiting actually helped me get progress

in each space station there is a guild envoy up on the walkway, at the right end, if you raise your rank with those, the higher ranks have free stuff, and sometimes upgrade modules for various equipment and stuff
As an example, on this explorer guild envoy, I can pick up 5 ion batteries, 1 warp hypercore, 1 A-tier radiation protection module, 1 storage augmentation for starship, and 1 S-tier pulse engine module, all for free; as well as purchase sodium nitrate at a 60% discount
All of these unlock at different tiers of rank with the respective guilds, and you usually need to get to the Master or Exalted tier for the really useful stuff, like those upgrade units for various types of equipment

Only if you're warping within the same region and you already know which guild is in the system you're warping from
sort of, if you see that a space station has Merchants guild, when you check the galaxy chart make a note of the region that is listed for the starsystem containing that space station. All space stations in that region will have merchants guild
but if you enter a new region, you have to enter a space station to check. There is a symbol over the envoy, when you land you can look to the walkways, and then up to the right, there will be a big lit symbol over the envoy where they sit, which shows which guild is in that station/region

if you've got all the relevant materials to donate to them and just keep hopping between their stations, less than an hour

A lot of those people were posting in lfg a lot. Haven't seen them in a while. This game was not originally made for multiplayer, and too many people in one area can lead to 'issues'. Issues with sentinels, with terrain returning to it's primal state. Friends can play together, but I'm not sure if there is a huge demand for cooperative town building.

Hi, I managed to pick up an S class freighter, my first ship of this kind. Anyway, it was going well until I added a science station, then my Korvax science officer turned up.
I did the first mission for him, then he told me to add a save Beacon.
It's not in my build menu.
I looked online and saw that someone has said the fix required deleting my first base and its save beacon. That didn't work.

im a new player and i love the flying part
but i really would like a more agile ship
You can upgrade ships, to get more agility. You can change from a less agile class, say hauler, to a fighter or explo ship. Different ships, in a class, will have different stats.
The first ship I got, that was agile, was a royal. You can hang out at stations and wait for one to buy. You can buy maps and repair salvaged ones, too.

The number is based on the class, the placement is random.

Is there supposed to be a limit to the number of pirate waves that can attack during an observatory raid quest?

In that it seems to reset every time I finish a wave.
Okay, yeah, it was a bug, nevermind. Saving and exiting to main menu and reloading set the quest to complete.

You can extract the exact parts you see. If the ship doesn't look like it has the part you're after, it will never give it to you
How so? When salvaging a ship, you get a random part from that ship, so it's like 1/4 to get the part you actually want from it. Or is there another way to strip ships of their parts?

i discovered that if you like a part you wait for a C class ship, buy it for like 4kk, then scrap it for that part you want.

I'm honestly just trying to find a halfway-decent normal ship. Right now I'm using one of the Sentinel ships, and they're probably the most useful because you can recharge them with radiant shards, but I despise the way the cockpit looks, particularly in VR.
I think I'll just keep at it with the distress signals, and hope I luck into a ship I can repair into looking good.

But living ship have low parts variety and are kinda old feature so at this point they are underpowered in comparison to other ships
U can own 12 ships so plenty of space to test all ship types
i really love Solar ships, the whole mechanism i always found amazing.....but BROTHER it bugs out a lot

As far as I'm aware there is nothing in the game that's one-time-only.
Except for quest items and expedition rewards.
And the game should tell you if you accidentally get rid of a quest item, and tell you how to get it back.

Though you can just ignore it if you want to buy the blueprints from the anomaly.
You get them for free from the quests, though.
