Not exactly, you can also begin them within an existing save at the expedition terminus, which lets you send a few things in with you to help you out (and send some things back at the end)

Regardless of how you begin it though, you start out on a somewhat fresh save with a big list of objectives to complete that give you stuff to help you do the following objectives, and the phase rewards that you claim for doing groups of those are claimable on all saves once unlocked

Expeditions aren't ever normally repeated after their first run, other than the redux at the end of the year which only contain reruns of the current years' expeditions, plus rarely a bonus one

you only need this advise: Mount your conflict and economy scanners - find pirate systems with high conflict and warp to them - you will come on that fight more often than not. many are hard wired.

The water planets take up most the memory and the virtual RAM that's why so the longer you stay there and the bigger the plan it is the more of an issue you have on older systems If anything also I would turn your water all the way down with mine I got it turned down one below ultra and that fixed most things but I still don't think most people can spawn stuff on the water when they're stuck in the middle for some reason I was never able to do that it just glitches out

Also I didn't realize sea glass was so expensive I just kind of saw a crap ton on this planet and grabbed them up and pretty much for every eight of them it's about 2 million That's pretty cool
