the really good food like cakes and pies can give you huge bonuses with the Nutrient Ingestor (there's one that gives a several thousands of percent bonus to scanning fauna) or you can make nanites like crazy by giving them to Cronus, or just lots of units.

it can be if you can find a recipe you can support either with a farm or a base you want to sit at for awhile to collect animal products
i made a ranch one time where i collected eggs from the animals, but you have to sit at your base. good AFK thing to do

what i did was while i was waiting for the animal products to be collected by the technology you have teo build for it...i would harvest my mineral extractors for the copper and refine all of it to chromatic metal, then check the collectors between batches
check my atmospheric harvesters for the gasses, etc

To iterate on this, with the new Xeno update, we'll have to somehow redefine/reconsider what we label anomalous fauna, since planets like "wnedark" or "lost green world" do produce creatures that are considered to be anomalous type re: combat, though they are not "classic" anomalous - the "classic" anomalous beinng referred to here would be the ones found only on gold-bearing worlds.

Fun fact.. there are some creatures that retain a type no matter where you find them. The most obvious are Mechs, but also the Bone_Mammoths (which are always Tropical).

Crashes normally happen due to maxed out part areas, especially in the anomaly as players ships load there too. Once your in game get to a planet and create a new save.
