You should be able to find them on most planets tho some will have higher density than other and some will have none like dead biome planets (if they have rusted metal listed as resource they are dead biome). If you land on a snow, lush, desert and such biome planet in an inhabited system you should see plenty around.

The reason why units wouldn't work is because if everyone has infinite units whether crashing entire economies or just hacking in billions like I do, there would be no value to anything. You need a physical currency backed by something rare.

Yea, the thruster shape is different - mainly the part swooping from one to the other - far more pronounced on the new (yellow) version. I like the old better, but overall I much prefer the updated Explorer parts that came with that 2021 update.

Yes, you get freighter for free and will have to pay an exchange price for the next one, unless you go for a Pirate dreadnough, in that case it's a straight over swap, just remember to take any tech and inventory off your current one before swapping

There's numerous ways of upgrading.
1: Class upgrades
-you can upgrade your ship Class from C all the way to S with nanites. This is NOT recommended for new players
2: Ship hunting
-locating downed ships through emergency ship signal maps
-buying up at space stations (not recommended if poor)
-buying at trade centres on planets (not recommended if you're poor)
